I'm unironically hyped for this, Gears 4 felt like a setup for something great story wise and the gameplay was great too, easily the most fluid and polished in the franchise. Those leaks about 20x bigger maps and gameplay customization got me even more hyped. But yeah, not having a man with a gun centered in the cover of your shooter is quite dumb, the man with the gun on the cover is an instant visual appeal to the casual masses that keep buying the same multiplayer shooter games over and over again. No wonder devs do it so much.

Since the first one came out I've given the games plenty of fair chances over the years and each time I give it another try I have a terrible experience.

Part of it has to do with no respawning. In Halo the power weapons respawn so everyone has a fair chance to use it once in the match. In Gears if you miss it, that's it. Wait until the next game.

Even the Terminals gave light that exploring the Forerunners was next for Halo 4 and beyond.

I feel you. I used to love Call of Duty but when I go back and play them, they really weren't all that great. Every map is the same 3 lanes, only a handful of the weapons were usable, the campaigns were fun but had massive plotholes, and they became increasingly monetized beyond repair. I thought CoD games were getting worse but it was just me getting older.

Felt like a boring cash grab with gimp gameplay, boring story and campaign, while being only 3 hours long, Microsoft bumping the price to $60 didn't help, I like the other campaigns besides Reach over it. I also hated the film grain and felt they were just taking Gears Horde mode and putting their own spin to it but it got boring fast like the rest of the expansion.
