Does anyone else feel like Sekiro difficulty seems really cheap compared to Dark Souls/Bloodborne?
Especially boss fights, in Soulsborne you often could beat the boss on one of the first tries or at least feel, like you were really close.
In sekiro you have autistic rhytm paterns of 10 parries to remember for every boss that makes it impossible to have a fair fight
You either die like a bitch a lot of the times when memorizing the pattern and then you steamroll him with muscle memory.
Seems more like a glorified rhytm game than a proper action combat

I found it much easier to sightread bosses in Sekiro since you can just hold block and feel them out and the game gives you a huge warning when that won't work.
yeah it was fine. those 10 parries you have to do are really fucking easy to read. I never once had to 'learn' it to not eat shit to it. doing it perfectly is one thing but I managed to hold my own just fine even with fuckups.

Bosses in Sekiro are tanky and all hit like shit brick houses.
In the other games, you didn't even have to know what you were doing or the bosses moves half the time to beat them in the first go in like 50 seconds. Especially in Demons/Dark/Dark 2 where the bosses were very squishy and had few moves.
This. It's a sharp difficulty curve. The first half of your first playthrough is brutal. After Genichiro you should have enough heals, skills, and prosthetics to deal with anything.
The same criticism of "memorize the boss" can apply to other Souls games, but what it really means is that you haven't properly learned the game.
If anything Sekiro makes it easier to beat bosses in fewer tries simply because you can run, jump, and always revive from at least one cheap unexpected death. Be patient. Run around. Learn. Git gud.
I have this exact problem. The multi-phase bossfights and instant kill attacks seem designed for the express purpose of preventing a first try boss. I find it incredibly cheap because it’s impossible to be ready for any of that shit the first time. If the second phase of a boss fight extends his combo by one wayward attack, it’s there solely to catch your pattern-reading, which is horseshit; that’s a skill that should be rewarded.
The game was designed to constantly undermine the expectations of DS/BB players. It's not actually harder.
I didn’t find any part of Sekiro particularly hard, the game was just super tedious. It’s basically exactly the same as DaS3, you just grind boss attack timings until you know how to deal with everything and move onto the next one, rinse and repeat. It’s inherently unsatisfying though, because you’re just memorizing the boss and that’s the only real stratefy outside of a couple of fights like DoH. You don’t “git gud” at Sekiro outside of realizing how parry timing is anticipatory and that you only have to time the first deflect in a combo. You “git gud” at one boss’s dumb timings and patterns and that’s really it. It doesn’t carry over to anything else. That’s why the game is so easy and boring on replay.
dark souls made me rage far more, sekiro is very forgiving

I understand your sentiment, but that's not the case. After cutting my teeth in Genchiro, I found myself one-shot ting plenty of bosses and by the end of the game, I was playing Sekiro properly, as in looking for a prosthetic tool or item to employ against any boss or miniboss that hung me up.

Now DaS 1 on the other hand (and from what I saw the others as well) throw you against bullshit bosses like Bed of Chaos, a gimmick boss were you can be unlucky dozens of time because the window to get by the hand sweep is so small and, lucky stuff!, you get to run back to the boss for 3-4 minutes every time.

You can use tons of tools for interrupts to get all the cheesy free damage you want.
You dont even have to lock on in this game and being able to do more than roll to win makes it way more interesting than souls combat as far as boss fights go.
The fact that pocket sand is always useful no matter the ng+ is pretty telling that its meant to be played with all opurtunites taken not some retarded honorable shit.

Not at all. The game gets considerably easier once you get comfortable with enemy patterns. Also you need to be holding block to recover your posture.

You only think it's "cheap" because unlike trash souls this is an action game, and action games don't let you break the game in a gorillion cheap ways, from grinding your stats to use decoys for free hits, you actually need to know what you're doing, which you soulsbabbies still can't understand.
If anything DS is the cheap series since enemies can two shots you with inflated stats you can eventually outgrind, don't have stamina, don't have their blows stopped by walls while you do etc., Sekiro evens the field considerably due to being an actual action game where you need to use your tools well, know your specific hard counters etc.
Sekiro requires actual skill, Souls only requires a minimum of common sense, but you people have fooled yourself into believing Souls was ever a skill based game.

Once I got used to it I didn't even think it was that difficult. After overcoming that in Souls games and no longer finding them hard you had online stuff to do or make other builds and fashion, Sekiro tho. Just uninstalled forever after getting plat in a week.
Not personally, no. I found that once I lost a lot to Lady Butterfly, I rested and when I came back the game just clicked. I would even say it actually becomes pretty easy after that. I one shot several bosses, so it must not be that there’s necessary artificial knowledge baked into all of them. One issue I think some people have is they assume that they can’t parry something that’s three times their size and massively strong, when in reality you can parry ape swinging his arms just as easily as you can a footman Ashina samurai.
The problem isn't the parries, it's the weird fucking timings. It shouldn't be trial and error, you should just need to slash just before their strike hits. But instead you need to slash like at the height of their strike. It feels extremely unnatural and makes you have to adjust to the retardation rather than just reacting like you would in a modern action game

I feel the exact opposite. Enemies in Dark souls were cheap, and used every trick in the book from delayed attacks to traps and ambushes.
Which is in part why I prefer Souls, you really feel like the world wants to kill you. In sekiro even the Ashina whose whole gimmick is supposedly "win no matter the cost" are retarted.
Yeah all regular enemies in Sekiro maybe apart from the Shinobis might as well not exist because they are total pushovers which makes stealth even less interesting because it's not worth bothering with when you have nothing to fear
I don't feel it was cheap, just a matter of learning how to handle different things the game throws at you. After encountering a new thing you pretty soon get a feel for it and go "Oh, this is an enemy where I need to do X" I was really intimidated by everyone telling me SS Isshin was the most difficult thing ever but after two tries I had him p much figured out and the shit I didn't get down was mitigated by heals and tools.
No fucking way. There's a reason why git gud became associated with Dark Souls, and it's because players encouraged other players to play the game properly and to not relying on summons or over grinding. Furthermore the invasion mechanic encouraged players to keep their levels down.
Now I'm not saying that everyone gets good enough to beat the game without cheesing. But that's not the standard. Not everyone is as big of a faggot as OP (although you zoomers really seem to try hard). All I'm saying is that, once you discount the swath of people who just pick up the game for 2 days and give up (leading to inflated numbers on platforms like Steam), MOST players make an honest attempt to play the game the way it is supposed to be played, by using i-frames and parry windows and such.
If some of them never get good enough to beat O&S on their own and use summons, that doesn't change the fact that they still played the game properly. It just means they aren't good at it and gave up beyond a particular point.
So the games give you an out when you get stuck. Big fucking deal. Back in 1989, if you couldn't get past Super Macho Man you could just use the code if you wanted to try beating Tyson. Other games had the Konami code for extra/infinite lives.

No, it's the opposite of cheap, and that's what made it so boring. You just have to git gud and learn the timings and adjust your muscle memory accordingly, I didn't have to think, just play and react. Pretty boring desu. I rather play a fighting game, at least players adapt and it doesn't get old. This is why I dislike fast paced single player action games in general. They are simply inferior to fighting games from a challenge or skill PoV, and inferior to RPGs from a enviorments, story, or itemization PoV.
