Home, home on the wastes

Home, home on the wastes.
Where the Master's great armies once played.
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And my rads are not rising all day.

I love this game so much. I hope the series can still be redeemed.

Bethesda has been following a very clear pattern of heavily streamlining each mew consecutive release and it has gotten to the point where not even the normal masses are enjoying them and Bethesda can't put out a game without having 3 months worth of big fuckups and shitstorms. Even the companies they can outsource game development to, especially Obsidian, are nothing like they used to be and lost all the talent capable of putting out games that can rival the great they put out years ago. I wouldn't want you to completely lose faith in games but at the same time don't get your hopes up for something far more bound to leave you disappointed then not.

i can't believe i still manage to find new things in this game.

THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE WAS NEVER A MAAAAAAAAN QUITE LIKE...JOHNYYYYYYYYYYYYY...LIKE THE ONE THEY CALL...JOHN-NEEEEEEEEEE GEEEEETARRRRRRR

>not the version sung by sawyer

Best song in the game, I don't know why people hate it.

Fallout 4 is a better game than NV.
Fallout 3 is a better Fallout game than NV.

Expand on that

i replayed NV recently

and i dont get it. why does the game feel so empty? most of the quests feel like chores too

I'm having trouble processing how stupid you are, user. Like I legitimately can't understand how you could confuse what the OP posted, with its Fallout references, with the actual lyrics of Home On The Range. Is this some elaborate meta-ruse? Or are you just that out of touch with reality?

>Best song in the game
No it is not.
youtu.be/DB5UvHhb-Y4

Trolled epicly

Probably because it's crap. It's as out of place in the main radio lineup as Begin Again is on the OWB jazz station

After at least 400 hours into New Vegas I finally decided to play Caravan and it turns out I love it, enough that I'd play it irl too but it's not like people carry around a deck of completely fucked up and mismatched cards. Neat idea for a card game though.

Probably because how frequent the song is played, according to other players, got it meme'd into being hated.

Now you really can't expect to be taken seriously after posting such an opinion with backing it up. Until you do it shall be regarded as bait.

I don't really feel like expanding on bait in great detail.

NV's problem is that the open world and stricter linearity and more traditional RPG elements don't work together. It's a bad open world game, it's a bad shooter, it's a mediocre RPG. It tries to emulate the feel of the older Fallouts without sacrificing 3's style, and that doesn't work either.
It's a mess, frankly. I can appreciate what they were going for and I can see the potential, but the finished product is still the worst main title in the Fallout series.

>stricter linearity
Opinion discarded

Looking back, why was the NCR so fucking incompetent?

Go back to gamingcirclejerk you faggot redditer

I'm glad to see my state song survives the apocalypse even if the lyrics are a little different

Democracy. Republicanism.

But their second president was a dictator

>try to side with Legion and see what's all the buzz
>it's literally incomplete and renders 30% of the content locked out
>Caesar is also a hypocritical jackass that has no idea what Rome is

Attached: 1528738305897.jpg (500x634, 42K)

They a fundamentally broken democracy that had one president last for like 50 years. You can't have a democracy after that, therefore every following leader is an ineffective popularist.

The politicians back home don't care about the war enough to fund it well, but they don't care about the troops enough to pull back. The brahmin barons are rich and own most of the senators and ensure laws keep them rich and powerful.

The military's top guy in charge is literally there because he's friends with the president, quality doesn't matter only who you know.

The ranger chief was sabotaging the NCR's war effort and getting away with it for months.

Training is badly done, troops are barely out of bootcamp before they're shipped to the front line against an elite army that suffers no failure.

The problem of the NCR is that they didn't learn from the past, they're trying to recreate the united states of America in a place that doesn't suit it. Caesar had the right idea and went even further back in history. Rome could work in post-post apocalyptic america.

He might have no idea what rome actually was but that doesn't matter because even he knows that to a degree what matters is making a culture not tied to the old world which got them into that mess

She ruled legitimately, riding the popular vote to the grave. If there had been term limits that she had disregarded or removed to ensure her continued reign, she would be a dictator. As it was, she was just too popular to run against and the system of senators beneath her refused to use their powers to limit her.

>Caesar had the right idea
In a way yes but even his Rome is nothing like the actual Rome he is just stealing the symbols like his forced assimilation is antithetical to the multicultural Rome also his disregard for technology is fucking dumb and yes I know he is trying to slowly introduce it instead of immediately using it and getting hooked on something they know nothing about, but still it won't do him any good in the short run.

Lots of reasons. Biggest one being this retard more worried about winning a dick measuring contest against Hanlon than actually spreading their influence on the Mojave.

Attached: General Lee Oliver.jpg (800x646, 150K)

because the NCR we see in the game is merely an imperialistic tendril from the decaying mass that is their republic

>Have no arguments
>Chimp out
Reddit loves Fallout New Vegas you subhuman SJW. Go back

Yeah me too, i was playing a few hours earlier and i went to camp searchlight on my way to Fort hill, i enter a random house and I find a non feral ghoul ncr soldier.

Then she should have done what was for the best of her people and institute term limits

It's a good thing he is not recreating the roman republic, the republic was incredibly flawed. Caesar is trying to avoid the "civil war/unrest every other decade"

All they have to do to redeem the series is make a skill focused Denver based sequel to New Vegas, have it be the NCR moving East vs. whats left of the Legion vs. Dogs in the majority of downtown with the main bad guys being a bunch of former politicians/vault-tec employees living in a giant vault under Denver International Airport (look up all the IRL shit about it and you'll understand). It really wouldn't be that difficult, time consuming, or expensive. Use fallout 4 as the base and just reskin the whole thing and make a new map the same way they made new vegas

Teach me

i completely agree with this take
3D open world game for an rpg is a terrible combination. obsidian really tried their hardest to make a good rpg game and it shows, but the game was doomed from the start

Honestly in my opinion Edward should he win and march all the way to the coast the moment he dies no matter what the empire would disintegrate into many different nations who are stronger for having been conquered whereas when the NCR collapses their decedent nations won't be able to survive. So at the very least his Rome will be like the Western Roman Empire after their collapse leaving behind strong countries

is that fallout 4 remake still a thing?
has it released yet?

but it was the empire that suffered from continual instability. Caesar has transformed the idea of Rome to his contemporary times but he hasn't solved any of the problems that led to Rome falling originally. His empire will collapse the moment he dies or some other powerful man gathers enough momentum to challenge him. Regardless of whether they win or lose, the Legion has no future, at least not in the way Caesar has envisioned it. It's even more unstable than the NCR and that's saying quite a lot.

Console babby here

How much would it cost to build a PC that could run this with graphic/content mods at 1080p/60?

New Vegas really needed the same development time fallout 3 had, otherwise content like more legion stuff would be in the game and more

Overextension

Will we ever see the Midwest BOS?

Attached: FOT_MWBOS_reach[1].png (570x418, 325K)

Separation of powers causing the military to have to go to politicians in order to get a budget.
Politicians in turn would do whatever would guarantee them re-election or money/future job from a lobbying group.
Regular population wouldn't give a damn about what happens right behind the horizon because from their point of view the stuff going on there might as well happen on another planet.
Military leadership is formed out of career officers more concerned over their careers/interests of their superiors than of stuff going on the field.
Regular trooper would just want to keep his head down till the end of his tour of duty, so no heroics or such from there either.

Better question is, how come they still exist?

Yeah they just released new dogs.
Progress is slow, but it's to be expected.

The Legion route locks out a lot of the content but it also has the most unique content. There is a lot of overlap options wise between the independent, house, and NCR routes. All three have you doing mostly the same things, with the only difference being dialogue. The NCR and House routes more or less just restrict your options compared to the independent route. They don't offer new angles to approach the quests, they only serve to cut off options you would have otherwise. The Legion route has quests you approach from an entirely different angle (Ie assassinate the president instead of protecting him) with entirely different gameplay.

Remake with post game story when?

Attached: 1530227062558.jpg (850x744, 92K)

>you had plenty money, 1922
>big ironnnn
>oh Lily belleeee
>starssssss of the midnight range
>it's a sinnnnn how much I love you

that instability is a good thing instead of growing into stagnating mass it will be continually reborn growing stronger every iteration the constant struggle will make men strong enough to survive the wastes

I can run it with everything on low on a toaster laptop with a dual core and a 720m. You don't need much.

>Caesar doesn't understand Rome
Caesar understands Rome, he's just not trying to recreate it. He's using it because it was completely alien to the tribals of Arizona, because suddenly invented a whole new language and culture and society made him look divine. He's picked out all the parts he liked best and discarded the rest, and he's been playing this game of pick 'n' mix for almost 30 years. His grand plan to invade NCR and make a long standing nation with his take on Hegel only started somewhere in the last decade of his rule, when he realized his Legion was getting too big to survive its own growth for much longer.

If anything, trying to recreate Rome as it was but in the American Wasteland would show he understands even less of what Rome was than what he's actually trying to accomplish.

>oh lilly belle
Mein Schwartzgger

If it collapses how is that bad? His entire plan is relies on it. He will die, the legion will splinter and the groups that form from the ashes will be identical. That's why he destroys each tribe's culture and just turns them into the legion.

It's unstable and logically it cannot become anything else, there are no other ideas. The groups will peacefully band together or conquer one another, but very quickly the legion will be united again and since their leader won't be as smart as Caesar they will have to come up with some governance to hold it all together. A natural government will come up, one that meets the desires of the new legion and isn't just based on the old world. There's a reason Caesar doesn't copy Rome or try and teach them how Rome was governed, he doesn't want his successor states to copy it.

I have a 2k PC that can't run this shit without dipping below 50 FPS. Yes I installed every single fix in the planet

>3D open world game for an rpg is a terrible combination.
This is where you are wrong
Morrowind is one of the best games of all tine for a reason, post-Oblivion Bethesda games are just shit

that's actually an acute analysis. It makes sense now.

>If it collapses how is that bad?
there would be an untold loss of life from pointless wars of reconquest along with the wasteland being even more untamed

Well you may need to disable something. The engine is the issue not the hardware, i heard doe not sure that you can get a pretty decent fps boost by disabling facial expressions.

His hoover dam battle plan literally is "send in waves of recruits to soften up the NCR"

He doesn't care if soldiers die, that's their job and exactly why he forbids women from service, he needs them constantly breeding to replenish his losses.

The wasteland in legion territory is considered by even die-hard NCR fags to be incredibly safe, the legion's collapse wouldn't change this. The small groups would just police there own area and keep it secure.

DM > OWB > HH > LR

Christine > Cass > Lily > Hanako > Veronica

The territory would be less safe since the people patrolling would instead be off fighting neighboring tribes

This so much, I don't understand why people have such a hard time understanding this.

Attached: 1504988027810.jpg (911x1024, 169K)

Fuck waifus and FUCK /fog/

kek

Just play it with a normal playing card deck. I've taught it to people IRL and had plenty of success with it. I don't think deck customization would really work for balanced real world play anyway.

The way I see it the legion would more easily and quickly become their "ideal" version than the NCR become their own perfected version but perfect NCR would be better than perfect Legion but odds are you wouldn't get a perfect NCR just due to how much more effort would be needed and in the wasteland a short term adequate solution is better than a long term one

Caesar's entire army is at hoover dam but his lands are safe. People know what happens to criminals in legion territory, they have the fear of god put into them and don't push their luck.

>sneak steal everything i can get my hands on because I'm retarded
>karma is so low I'm literally the devil
>have done nothing but help
>somehow cass knows.
>spend hours killing fiends to balance it
>barely moved

Fuuuuck

Caravan is the best game and an amazingly quick source of caps

Survivalist Rifle best rifle.
A Light Shining in Darkness best pistol.
You cannot prove me wrong.

I can never not get very good karma.
I steal shit from people but i'm still very good.

Those aren't the COS sniper, and that gun is the best

just give the guy outside megaton some water

hey, you.
Fuck you.

Kill ghouls

No, fuck YOU, you god damn /tesg/ reject.

Any good pack of mods I could download and apply real quick? Looking for something new this next run.

Get the Ulysses companion mod and then do lonesome road at level 1

I dont understand why so many people are bickering over Caesars plans. He literally spells it out with the whole "Pax Romana" speech

Because the legion dies with Caesar.

Just because he says something doesnt make it true

A Light Shining in Darkness is fun as fuck with a crit build.

You think this literal genius hasn't figured that out?

>playing without JSawyer for rebalanced karma gain/loss
It's your own fault you know.

But that collapse won't go like he thinks the tribes will return to their roots because even if they got rid of their old culture a new one will be born

I've played through all the fallouts in order, until New Vegas, which I'm playing now. I gotta say, it does have some cool mechanics that 3 lacks, it really feels like 3 and NV are like 1 and 2, as in there are some QoL improvements and some cool shit added, but I don't see any reasons to wage a shitposting war over them.

Only time I suffered with a crit build was in OWB, holy fuck everything was armored to the tits save for lobotomites but they usually packed so much heat I always got torn to shreds through my light armor while shooting a pack.

The DLC gives you a free melee weapon that makes the enemies a cakewalk

Anybody else like adding their own tracks with a custom radio mod?

In my last playthrough I added a bunch of Stevie Ray Vaughan tracks and it fits so well with the whole western and casino vibe. Blues music in general works really well in the setting of New Vegas.

Attached: SRV (2).jpg (1050x709, 215K)

That's the thing, I was doing an autistic revolver/handguns only run. I couldn't break character.

I use the connelrad mod constantly.
