me
Wasn’t dream club a Xbox thing?
I wish I could be maximum nyagger and call all the tiles
>only win 25% of games
holy shit, why is my winrate so low? how do i get better bros? i'd like at least a 50%, that's what i have in overwatch
Got a 445566 in the same suit off my starting hand, but apparently even if you call something completely unrelated to that it still won't count towards your final score if you win the hand. This game makes me feel like such a brainlet sometimes.
Yfw this happens
Well fuck me, and according to wall the green dragon would have come out in 2 draws too.
Still won the game, but being a yaku-manlet feels bad.
Ipeikou is closed hands only
Iipeikou is menzenchin only, which means you can't make any calls
What do the red tiles mean when you rewatch a match?
Well, it's not gonna be a yakuman anyway. Still, nice big hand you've got there.
You're going to have to educate yourself on the types of hands you should be aiming for and you're going have to make some very difficult decisions too.
Isn't this that franchise where you try to get hostesses drunk so you can do lewd stuff?
>10 points to adept
GONNA MAKE IT
Someone's winning tiles
Red means someone is waiting on it. Player across is on double pair wait for 2 or 5 pin so player right's 5 pin is also red
ah right big dragons was all triplets right? well cat on top ended the hand. But I still won the game but what a wasted hand.
your/their waits/wining tiles.
5/2 pin are the waits for top cat and white/green dragon were my waits in this case.
>tfw you get cucked out of a saibaman hand AGAIN
YES, i LOVE mahjong! i LOVE being cucked! FUCK this game
I want to play single player mahjong and fuck bitches. What gamu?
just tanyao, pinfu, dora dora something.
what do the + green and - red numbers mean next to your score when you finish a game?
ahem
FUCK MAHJONG
So I started playing last night, won a few matches, tried to get the hang of the game overall
Is Akagi a good semi-useful resource for understanding the game?
I wish you wouldn't
No, it's fiction.
I'm no magic lesbian so I have to play normally.
No, but watch it anyway.
not really
It's more useful the more you know about mahjong. The better player you are, the more you'll understand it's concepts. The first time you watch, just watch for fun.
>Is Akagi a good semi-useful resource for understanding the game?
No, but Akagi gets more fun, if you understand the rules.
If you want to watch something similar afterwards, don't go for Saki, though, go for Kaiji.
I like playing mahjong with my waifu on vita
that's fine, I wasn't really expecting it to be a tutorial for mahjong or anything
it's just interesting watching it now that I have a basic understanding of what hands are worth what, like in the first episode the kid has an opportunity for a Dai Sen Gen, and if I didn't start learning how to play last night I wouldnt know what the fuck that meant
>make another account
>back to bronze
>literally the same as silver
fresh oc for the thread
>Dai San Gen
FTFY
That's the San for "three" by the way.
why are the tiles not on the mat itself aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
The first arc (Akagi's first game basically) is quite useful in teaching the basics, as well as other stuff like the risks in declaring riichi. It's completely bullshit after that, so continue watching if the show catches your interests. While we're at it, Saki is the same except the educational stuff is only the first or two episodes.
new player here playing in bronze rooms
why the hell does everyone there call chii and pon every single time they're able? isn't holding a closed hand typically better?
open tanyao makes for easy hands
denying your opponents a win is more important than winning
if you werent supposed to pon nyaa, chii nyaa, and kan nyaa at every opportunity it wouldnt pop up on the screen in big letters would it, nyaa?
> have extremely big dick hand
> THREE kans and a bunch of doras
> four quads draw
excuse me what the fuck just happened?
This hand doesn't seem to have yaku
your mutant power just awakened
The round ends after the fourth kan is declared and nobody wins after a discard.
kek,
it's if we had a Nyagger boss in Isaac, that would be FOUR KAN ABORTION
>want a nice, easy game to play while watching funny cat videos on youtube and reruns of seinfeld
>cant take my eyes off of discards in silver room for more than two seconds or i get blown the fuck out by roncats
HELP
What do you think?
just set up auto discard
when should I aim for triplets?
I realized that runs hands are way more efficient, I mean the way to win the game is to have riichi (ippatsu) tanyao pinfu dora ura dora akadora.
But I want to win with a yakuman sometimes ; ;
It depends on your tiles, placement and progression of the game. If you have a yaku and many han (possibly due to dora), it's totally fine to open your hand. In bronze though you sometimes see cats without yaku though.
If your hand starts with a mixture of triplets and pairs
read tetsunaki if you want a manga with actually realistic mahjong strategies
So, what if I'm on est4 and I'm last place. How should I make a comeback?
>Call kan
>Nyagger is jealous and calls 2 kans to assert dominance
>Call 4th kan to reset my trash hand and dangerous enemy hands
All planned
>mfw this comes on during shuffle in a tense match
youtube.com
Enter pon palace when it's the best thing. Bonus points when it includes dora, yakuhai and/or concealed pons. Even more bonus points if it's chin or hon itsu. Being able to call from all three opponents is a huge benefit compared to chis.
I switch to toitoi when I'm going for seven pairs and get a closed tripled, assuming that the rest of tiles I need weren't discarded already. Toitoi is a shit hand so never go for toitoi with no other yaku, it's not worth the risk.
play aggressively when you are the dealer
Are you east?
What place is east?
How many points you need?
What is your starting hand?
Try to hunt ron from the person who you would pass with 2-3k hand.
This is so far the single worst post I've seen in these threads so far, good job faggot. Might as well have been a cake is a lie joke.
Don't play east. If you're playing east, make sure to betaori at the first sign of danger because you have basically no chance of comeback after dealing in. If you're last in the last round your primary objective is getting third.
>It's my opponent has all my winning tiles episode.
>comeback
You mean win? Then a yakuman is probably the only way, if you aren't the dealer.
If you are the dealer, go for the easiest hands. The game continues as long as you keep winning rounds.
>all tiles my opponent holds are my winning tiles
Sounds good to me.
Four Kans is read as shikan in Japanese which also sounds like coffin, so players would abandon the hand in the past.

Mahjong is a good game
You might've still ended third because of a tiebreaker
You can ron a kan.
Why are japs such superstitious pussies
Only open kan
You can also ron a closed kan iirc.
Just looked it up, it apparently only applies to kokushi.
dora stacking tanyao's is the cheapest shit

>4th place keeps calling kans like a retard

was it me
So is there any point to hoarding gifts or should I just donate them and roll using the summon scroll?
>good hands that sit in iishanten 90% of the game
I was a lucklet today
Read up on betaori
Basic BETAori is genbutsu
First, the tile the previous player just played. Because if the mark didn't ron it they would be in temp furiten
Then, any tile in your mark's pond. Because they would be furiten for any of those tiles and can't ron. This includes any tiles that has been swiped from their pond for pon/chi/kan, the tilted tile will be oriented towards where it was swiped.
Of course this is useless if you don't even know you're in danger in the first place so you need to get that danger sense honed.
>Of course this is useless if you don't even know you're in danger in the first place so you need to get that danger sense honed.
This is basically my problem. I have no idea when to actually fold, especially with open hands.
No you can always tell you're in danger because they spam the EVA emote.
Depends on the skill level of the player. If they've called twice or more and they don't suck you're in the danger zone.
Well there are obvious spooks like a suspicious absence of a suit or suspicious missing winds/honors or an open pon/kan of dora or 2 open simple melds.
Rule of thumb: three calls during the first row of discards, two calls during the second row, one call during the third row.
Obviously there will be cases when the player gets into a tenpai after the first call in the first row or ends up with noten after three calls, especially in low ranks.
The other tip is looking at their open melds, deducting their yaku and then checking their discards. If the player has two calls of the suit he never discarded and then suddenly discards a tile from that suit, he's most likely in tenpai for honitsu. Same shit for open tanyao, if you see a player suddenly dropping middle tiles (from 3 to 7) they're most likely in tenpai.
>round 15+
>guy goes into riichi
>pull apart my hand and deal safe tiles
>exhaustive draw
>they're all in tenpai still
>lose 3k
am i playing against retards or geniuses
>tfw new player
>when i get a new hand the only thing i can think about are all simple, suited straight, dragon triplets, wind triplets and all triplets
am I a brainlet
this feels like im just going for the same wincon over and over
>one tile off tenpai for 13 orphans
>fucker already massively in the lead tsumos his own yakuman
Either they had no safe tiles, they assumed that their hand is worth more than their opponent's, or they were retarded. Unless you're playing in like jade room it's always the latter.
literally nothinh happaning in your pic tho
nothing wrong with that, those are the fundamentals. especially all simples
You'll slowly pick up more over time. Try to do a pinfu while doing the all simples for example.
Calling every time they're able to is pretty much a given for any mahjong beginner.
A new player isn't really capable of measuring shanten (how many tiles you are from tenpai) at a glance, so they call everything because they believe every call makes you closer to winning.
Beginners also aren't able to calculate hand values, and don't understand what kinds of offense/defense work best depending on the round.
In general, not calling is a better idea than calling about 70% of the time.
If you watch pro games (or just any game in higher rank lobbies that play full games), you'll notice that almost nobody calls, and when they do they tend to tenpai immediately after it.
Calling in the first line of discards while still being more than a tile away from tenpai is pretty much the hallmark of a complete beginner.
that's the same way i progressed, pay attention to wind tiles too for seated/round wind
east is always worth looking out for early on, especially if it's your seat wind too
You have to distinguish the noise
Your high ATK and SPD stats seem to show that you call a lot and go for speed regardless, not to mention that your recent high score hand is a completely ordinary one, somehow pushed into Baiman by doras.
My diagnosis is:
A complete scrub who got lucky for a bunch of games in a row
Check the dora indicator you fool.
So, how does one even login?
The login without Google, Facebook or Twitter account doesn't appear to work.
Do rounds not advance when the dealer wins? If I have a large lead, what's the point of winning as dealer?
Broadening the gap.
I use the twatter one which just works.
it does, just highlight the code properly instead of triple clicking it
I use my tw@er dummy account and it works fine.
dealer gets a yakuman for winning 8 in a row
Since I read up on haipai efficiency my win rate seems to have climbed, but the average value of my hands has dropped a bit, still consistently winning with sub 5k hands is good enough I guess.
Okay, figured it out.
Had a certain type of XHR blocked.
>Ahead of everyone by over 50k points
>Want to send them all to the shadow realm at once with a big tsumo
>Get too cheeky and deal into a giant hand instead
Barely held onto first place, but I'd risk it again.
you can't be furiten for pair wait on 7s if there's a 7s kan on the board
the cat is just that retarded
The risk of getting into tempai for 1000 at the end is pretty high usually so it's not worth sweating about. You did the right thing. Don't look for others because there are a lot of bad players who will discard live tiles without second thought and deal in. If you can't build a good hand or can't build any hand at all you shouldn't lose at the very least. Noten is a win.
There's nothing wrong with being retarded nya.
Are there any advantages or disadvantages to being in Furiten? Getting it because of a tile you dropped at the beginning of the round seems pretty retarded to me.
Not exactly correct, for example ASAPIN starts calling even if he's not 1-shanten if his kamicha discards middle tiles from the beginning: osamuko.com
But again he also folds all the time for no immediately visible reason so clearly he knows something most people don't and imitating him might not work out
this game is too addictive
unironically isn't healthy
If you're efficiently discarding tiles you're very unlikely to end up in furiten
just go fap
You could blindside your opponents with a tsumo. That's about it. And that's really, really stupid.
>Getting it because of a tile you dropped at the beginning of the round seems pretty retarded to me.
Plan ahead better. Just play more and you'll eventually get it.
Its the cat must have some kind of hypnosis attached to the nyas
> tfw blew a massive load to this yesterday
sumiyao is a god, his creampies and x-rays are magnificent
Your opponents don't know you're in furiten so if you've been in tenpai a long time they might go nuts trying to figure out your outs and start dissolving their hand.
Could be an edge wait, no?
Thanks cat.
Statistically if you have more than 2 sided waits with minimum visible tiles, riichi while furiten can be better choice.
not when you've called 4 times
>spend 30 minutes playing a game just to lose because of bad luck

>getting my ass kicked 24/7 by chink nyaggers

Playing mahjong in real life circumvents that issue. Part of the fun is the human element. Online mahjong is unironically soulless in comparison. Completely mechanical. At least there's emotes, but it's not varied enough.

>decide to discard it since 4 pin would give me flush and I badly need the points to get out of 4th place
>furiten
>never get either of the pins before match ends
Was it the right call?
>was not winning the right call?
what, if the rest of your hand were pins wouldn't either of those give you chinitsu?
and you discarded it for the chance to tsumo another one?
I'm having such a shitty day, hold me ;_;
Sounds like this girl says pan instead of pon.
If I remember correctly, not taking a Ron opportunity makes you in furiten until someone does a call while not taking a Tsumo opportunity makes you into permanent furiten.
So I woulda taken the tsumo, but not a ron if it was the last round, if it's not the last round i'd take the ron too.
Depends. If the tsumo wasn't going to do jack to your placement (and if it's the last round), then yeah. Might as well hope you get to ron the fucker at third place.
He probably means Itsu/Straight
Yeah, if you can't 3rd then there's no point in winning unless you're the dealer and you get to have another chance.
Maybe he mean straight but thats a bad move anyways.
>That expression
Probably trying to say she's nopan.
A straight (1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9) is worth 1 han.
It's not gonna turn the tables around.

It's only worth 1 han when you're opening your hand like a nyagger. Normally, it's a 2 han yaku.

its 2 han closed, and its very easy to get stack other stuff with it if you have it, flush/half flush, pinfu etc
Not very. It doesn't have any effect on the statistical safety of the tiles your opponent deals.

what is the blank tile? the wild card/joker?
I'm going to do it!
White dragon. It's not a wildcard.
Chun - Red Dragon
Hatsu - Green Dragon
Haku - Blue Dragon.
Haku has an actual representation on the tile in the chinese sets.
One more!
>open kan

Constantly.
Hell, if it didn't tell me to riichi I would hardly even know I'm in tenpai
He would have been in furiten if he waited on the 7sou. Of course he could have waited one turn to draw something else, but chun is a fine tile to wait on especially since it's early in the match.

>unless you rake up 300 quick you could get blasted down to 0 and need 600 to rank up
I'm afraid to play
choke on a jizzrag
Just have fun user!
ah, I see. you are one true mahjong warrior.
>turn 2 riichi for 1.3k shithand
>>you could get blasted down to 0 and need 600 to rank up
that's me
Toitoi always wins baby
>realistic
Nope. He's literally a nyagger.
nice, wonder if i get can that through f2p
Is there a mahjong game with even more training wheels and quality of life changes than Mahjong Soul? I want to get a few pals into this but they're reluctant to play physically because they might not like it so I want them to try software mahjong first
Spoilers: you can't
The f2p rewards in this game are unbelievably stingy. It takes literal weeks of grinding to get even one free gacha roll.
DamnNigga
I run a Mahjong club irl I play this game like multiple hours a day
i'm out of bronze... what now ?
claim your welfare coins
Can you drop out of adept? Or are you always at least Adept 1 now?
I WAS THIS CLOSE TO A RYUUIISOU
You can't drop ranks
usually i want Yea Forums to stick to video games and stay away from anime
but the girls in this game are cute. am i growing soft? will watching anime improve my mahjong game?
You can never go down ranks as far as I know, only lose your progress to the next rank.
playing mahjong will improve your mahjong game
someone post the saki comic
learn the yaku
like for fuck's sake, learn the yaku
the rest is math
watched akagi and am watching tetsuya now and they can kinda teach you a little bit... big thing im picking up is to not play like a bitch and treat the game like gambling and not be afraid to go for big scoring hands when given the opportunity too
the occasional tanyao and other 1k point hands are still ok though
is there a mahjong skill chart somewhere?
Will this grow mu IQ dick
Where's that guy who always promotes sega mj? Did he quit?
Time to wreck japanese professionals.
It help you become a disgusting cheater, a believer in higher powers, or a suicidal monster.
Should I spend my bronze coins on items and daily claim the pity bronze now that I'm adept? Or is it not worth it?
1k point hands are important when simply denying your opponent and keeping your lead is key to succeed
>winning so hard that 2nd doesn't get points
lmao too bad it'll never happen again
good edit
anyone here play(ed) dota2 auto chess? am i retarded for thinking mahjong is somewhat similar to it
>am i retarded
yes
fixed it up slightly for you bro
Am I saki enough yet?
I can count at least 10 things wrong with her now that I look at it again.
Pretty much.
Kirinji's author is just a Tenhou nolife who felt like showing off his dick, so he made a manga about a cool self-insert making open tanyao with red 5s and girls sucking his dick whenever he makes a chii. Occasionally there's some good insight into reading ponds, but most of it is just self-wankery of the worst kind.
That depends. Did you kan because you know the only winning tile is in the dead wall?
How can you expect God to bless you unless you have a little faith, user?
Rereading Akagi after actually knowing the gist of the game beside certain yakus is a bliss.
>he passes on a pei twice to get dora and haitei ron
Absolutely fucking M A D.
>less than 10,000 points
Fuck it, I'll just nyagger out at this point
good games lads
>calling a pon so he gets a tsumo win
lmao
Those fucking riichi early in the match. Jesus christ you guys.
Can you not be tenpai in 2 fucking turns every time ?
Invest in some magical sand.
Preferably from hell.
I just kan'd because the hand was good enough for an upset, 4 winning tiles and 5 draws left so I was thankful for the extra draw
But now I went back to check the deadwall, both 6s and one of the 2m tiles were in dead wall so that was a pretty good decision.
Depending on the discards the player across could have won, but I'm pretty sure the southwind or my 2m would have been the discards from the player next to me.
any other good mahjong manga/anime? or just general gambling i guess
already know akagi / kaiji / legendary gambler tetsuya / legend of koizumi / tobaku haouden zero
Can someone explain how the bottom tiles work to me?
Right to left from the dora indicator are the rest of the dora indicators.
Last four tiles are kan tiles you draw.
The final two rows are unused otherwise.
Is that right?
I tend to call more often just becuase hands in soul tend to go fast, and i find myself doing simple or terminal hands, so when I see that 4 to finish my only one sided 23 wait or 8 to finish 987 I gotta jump on it because someone already called dragons so I'd rather have an easy 1000 points to deny now.
Saki.
is that actually good or is it just moeshit
Tetsunaki no Kirinji
one outs. you should enjoy it if you liked akagi
They have their own little mats, you dumbo.
The first pass was a pretty grounded move, the second pass was crazy.
It has both and has more actual mahjong than Koizumi.
Hell, Koizumi was made because the author was a Saki fan.
noice ill check them out thanks
already seen but thanks, thats another good one

5+20s , come help me warm up before ranked
The last two rows are the tiles in the dead wall. The Dora is flipped with the third to last tile, with the Ura Dora underneath. The last four tiles in the wall are effectively out of play for the round, iirc
it's entire dead wall.
last 4 are drawn after kan starting from 6sou
then dora start from east in order dora(east)-uradora(5pin)-dora-uradora etc.
>Play against bots

I wish that touhou mahjong with the bullshit powers had gotten popular.
Got two Haneman in my most recent Silver game, feeling pretty good about myself rn
Still only came in second, but it was fun nonetheless
>nyagger gets obliterated by kokushi musou in the 2nd East 1
>get 2nd because I was in tenpai at draw
Pleasure doing business.
Bugmen are worse than AI
-92 EXP because of Kokushi direct hit :(
can you post what his discards looked like?
I have a similar problem. I get more motivated by losses than by wins. When I win I'm too scared to keep going in case I lose my streak or points or whatever, or I just get bored, but if I lose I want to try again to win.
Who're you fuckers tryn to fool
no. i lost because of tunnel vision of another player's riichi.
Probably looked like kokushi discards. Not him, but I have a bad habit of not looking at player discards until they riichi or call. The two times I've seen someone get MUSOU'D, it could have just as easily been me because seeing a bunch of middle tiles in the pond doesn't register with me most of the time.
The sooner you accept stumbling through matches with humans is inevitable, the sooner you will start to improve.
>forever at stage 2
rekt
>but if I lose I want to try again to win.
It's the opposite for me. If I lose I break shit and never play again.
>You'll learn by playing
I don't want to learn, I want to win.
>I don't want to learn, I want to win.
Wrong game.
>games take half a fucking hour to play and aren't 100% dictated by skill
why? why waste half an hour and then lose it all to some fuck who just gets lucky draws?
40 YEARS
because sometimes you're the fuck who gets lucky
no i'm not
Because you win as long as you don't get 4th place.

Is it okay to pon on the first turn if you have four pairs?
i literally never get good draws so I have to rely on other peoples' tiles
and every time I do get set up in a tenpai, someone else gets ron or tsumo and i just lose
i haven't had a single hand that went through in my last 6 games
I hope so. I want more interesting girls. The only good ones are ichihime and nadeshiko
sure but you could try for 7 pairs instead
you might be aiming for hands that are too big. all simples and riichi can get you quick and modest wins
Why did you call this chii? You don't know what you are doing, just stop calling tiles for no reason.
>love mahjong
>too afraid of humans to play online
Help
user there's three other players in the game, your winrate should hover around there.
because I was aiming for a 3 suited straight since I only needed the green 7 to achieve it
it's not that bad if he was going for junchan
Looks like they want a 3 colored straight, or straight flush?
Next round, again. You had an excellent hand to do a shitty open tanyao, yet you decided to pon 9s, making your hand impossible to win
There was a good chance you could draw it yourself
Chinese bugmen aren't human.
On second thought, you were going for toitoi, but a tanyao but have been way more likely
The least one had a yaku in mind at least, this one is just ooh shiny button
Still scary
actually it would've been sanshoku too, so that's 3 han right there
If anyone make a room i'll play
Just finished rewatching Akagi. It's more about mindgames than mahjong, but people who say the mahjong isn't right are speedwatchers and/or only remembering the memes. The mahjong is pretty fucking solid in it, whether it's losing your shit because half-folding/attacking fucked you over, being too conservative by not riiching or riiching too early without value, or making your opponents by making calls, it's all legit stuff (while not being solely about that)
Same.
Deal in rate went from 12.5% to this thanks to dealing in to barrage of open tanyao shit hands
I've never gotten lucky at tenpai battle too, and every losses were haneman shit. just look at that abysmal 4th place %
I want to rank up goddamn it!
>Want to watch Saki
>Taco girl seems pretty cute
>There's a girl with big tits and pink hair
What a damn shame. Into the trash it goes
well, whenever youre done would you mind just giving me a few pointers that i need to work on? obviously calling less is one, but is there anything else that's notable?
who /indestructible/
Of course, nyagga
zh.moegirl.org
Dealing into tanyao isn't bad. Dealing into tanyao dora 2+ is bad.
As long as you have a good winrate (around >10% than your deal in rate), it should be good, unless you're the one making open tanyaos.
Super Tacos is the best
there's some degree of bullshit in it but I'll never put it in the same category as Saki
mahjongsoul.game.yo-star.com
Get in, Yea Forumsros
You're gayer than everyone in Sakiverse together
Faggot.
The bullshit is mostly that one hand he pulls against Urabe with the two fucking kans. Absolute bullshit, but the story recognizes it as it is.
How do you unlock more characters? After 2 the unlock progress bar vanished.
Next round, you made another questionable call.
This is the round next to that one. Why are you discarding numbered tiles to hoard honor tiles? This is bad efficiency all around and will make you take longer to reach tenpai, I recommend you to play with the trainer for a bit
euophrys.itch.io
>Apples
HOW THE ACTUAL FUCK
Are you 村正?
You start the first round by dismantling your hand. You have three blocks, 56m 889m and 89s. Instead of dropping useless East and Haku you're dropping nines, lowering the amount of tiles your hand can accept and potentially getting you into furiten. Then you draw and drop 3s out of 33s. Then you draw and drop 8s out of 88s instead of fucking East which should've been discarded 6 turns ago. Dealer tsumo's a haneman but that's beside the point.
Second hand. You discard 9s and draw 8s, then you dismantle 79m instead of dropping East again. Then you continue discarding man instead of dropping 1p out of 1123p asap since you already have a pair (5s). Then you get ronned while discarding obviously unsafe tiles. Didn't I ask for a game where you got tsumo'd to 4th?
Third hand, again, you dismantle 779 instead of dropping honors. I can't watch any further at this point. You have no right to complain about never finishing a hand when you are actively sabotaging yourself. Check out this if you want to continue playing: osamuko.com
what the fuck is a 'double riichi'?
Go for faster tenpai sometimes. Look at this one hand, you dealt 8s to keep the 789 sanshoku. Now it's not necessarily a bad move, but it takes your hand a step back. Drawing 8m or 2s would have put you in tenpai for riichi dora 1, and with a kan made you'd have gotten a lot of points.
Now for this one sanshoku, it might have been okay to go back one step maybe, but in general you shouldn't try too hard to force yakus
DEAL INTO A FUCKING OPEN CHINITSUU FUCK YOU PRICK I'M MAD
>the virgin cat
>the chad hag
first turn riichi, worth 2han instead of 1
Listening to the kaiji OST increased my luck
and toitoi too
You dealt 1m from a good 135m shape, and you didn't have tanyao anyway. Then 2 turns later you dealt 8s from 899s, which could have become a sequence. Probably wanna work on your tile efficiency if you want to improve, and get faster hands (win more often)
>I don't want to learn, I want to win.
I just dealt into a 7 pair haneman.
How are you even meant to play defense against this? Is it impossible to detect before it's too late?
I just came last in that game without dealing in once and after declaring riichi first TWICE out of FOUR HANDS
>other players get 3 uradora on a tanyao
>I get multi-han hands with 0 dora
>tanyao niggers get more points
:teaspit:
>7pair
>haneman
that's just shit luck my dude, nothin you can do about it
dora was a mistake
Well what should I be aiming for? Because from that hand all I can see is my original goal, I can't see how you would transform it into something else
You can notice that someone's discards are looking super weird before his riichi. Like, he throws middle number tiles, and then he throws honors/terminals. That stuff looks like chitoi.
Everything else is pointless except winning, being a loser sucks ass. You get laughed at and mocked.
Seven pairs is hard to get a read on. At best, can only really look if they're discarding what look like could've been parts of sequences from their hand.
Riichi is your strongest yaku user. Riichi dora gives you 2 han. If you draw it yourself, another han for tsumo. 3 han. If you get a reverse dora (1/3 chance, with two indicators thanks to the kan, that's 2/3 chances), another han. 4 han, 8000 points.
Sometimes riichi is all you need. Most of the time, riichi pinfu and/or tanyao is what you need. Sometimes you should try for more fancy yakus like honitsu, toitoi, sanshoku, etc.
You niggas are smart as fuck. What a complicated game.
After years of playing this game, I reached a conclusion that this game is not about intellect, but about luck.
It's like Rummy, but better
Just because characters in a mahjong anime have "super powers" doesn't mean the mahjong suddenly becomes boring. It adds a new element to it: how are they going to use their abilities? How will other abilities fair against it? How will the normal players combat it?
People look at Saki and see a screencap of a naked girl and think "there is no mahjong, it's only sex all the time". Is there any manga or anime that has as much attention to detail of characters' discarding habits as Saki? Different characters' personalities are reflected by their discards.
The character Kuro, for example, always discards her tiles so they are facing the player opposite her, a habit she developed from teaching children to play, making it easier for the kids to see the tile. A character like Hiroe, who is aggressive and unorganized, throws her tiles down, not even bothering to keep them straight or in line. Every character plays uniquely.
The deeper your understanding of mahjong, the deeper your appreciation of Saki-san kawaii
>The absolute tension when you yolo riichi with a trash hand at the same time as someone else also declares riichi
REACH FOR THE SKIES
RON OR GET RONNED TRYING
You need to collect gifts and turn them into dust. Then you can summon once for 50 dust. Each month you can summon up to 5 times but that's a lot of grind. The chance to get a character is 5% but you can also get cool stuff like cat hand or blue flame on win.
Silver Room is a hellhole. I imagine Gold and above have an inner hell.
Don't you mean Subara Tacos?
Good comeback, I should have continued winning trash hands.
Got shut down hard while attempting orphans, also cucked out of kan spree.
>one guy does riichi every single round before the end of his first discard line
How do I get consistent luck like this?
Post the mspaint saki comic about rewatching.
Welp, I'm not leaving this hole so soon
You can't become a pro in 1 day. Everything requires an effort.
You need a fresh chip off of Akagi's grave.
Gold room is fine most of the time. You'll also get to face occasional masters.
You boys should just learn to play :^)
Pay up.
No seriously, spend any amount of money in the shop. If your account has paid anything, the RNG will make sure you have more favorable starting hands more often. Before generating the wall, the game generates everyone's starting hands, so the premium players will have starting hands with good shape, and then the leftover tiles are put into the wall in a random order. It's the same as Tenhou, in which having a premium account means your starting hand is better. It's the same in ANY game of chance with a cash shop. It's naivety to think otherwise.
I thought i needed to have one of the other yaku to call riichi? Do i just need any 4 melds and i can call riichi, as long as my hand is closed?
Yes. That's why it's so strong, just keeping closed and calling riichi gives you a 1 han yaku. Drawing your winning tile is another yaku, and you can get uradoras or ippatsu by winning on the first turn, meaning your riichi can get up to 3/4 han alone sometimes.
yeah, just don't expect much extra value besides uradora
Riichi itself is a yaku
Requires suicidal playstyle.
ATK 36, DEF 67? It's obvious you went for cheap hands, exposing it and somehow you managed to not deal in to someone's hand and win 1st place. Luck won't get you far without skill.
I guess ill start aiming for that more often, this entire time i thought i needed another yaku for riichi and thats why i wss making those above plays
My once/year Ryanpeiko attempt got destroyed...
To be fair, trying to go for sanshoku there wasn't a *bad* play, given that your hand had bad chances of winning either way. Sometimes you should try to go for yaku, but more often than not you should take what you have.
I'm sorry, that was too much too take
but there's no "skill" tab
Majsoul Friends Room 89256(4-Player South): mahjongsoul.game.yo-star.com
obviously it helps to make an actual hand and it may be safer not to riichi if you think you need to manage your discards
but on the other hand, shit like this can happen
sadly it was a friend's win and not mine
>dora is a good feature
>match started within 1min
why does no one ever join when i try making a fucking room
FUCKING KAN DORA FOUR NYAGGER
What do you tell a Jamaican mahjong player when it's time to go home?
Bye, mon!
I know that, but I don't want to lose once. It's shit.
Try living in a place with a different time zone.
Well thanks for taking the time to explain my mistakes rather than laughing at me
Fucking this. Played online today for the first time in a week, lost the game and now I'm suicidal again. Fuck all of this.
I can never understand such a mindset. What are you favorite games?
I'd rather be the "master" in my own solitude than go through that pain.
Well, now you will stop playing like a dumb cat. You call tiles to speed up your hand in the case your hand is super shit, not to get a valid hand.
Any game with free roam open world with stuff to fuck with.
