Proof that faggots just want to replay the same thing again instead of something new

Proof that faggots just want to replay the same thing again instead of something new.

Well “something new” has been shit like 9 times in a row. So the “same thing” which hasn’t been the same thing since 2006 can feel quite refreshing.

After over 10 games of " Something new " being a complete & utter failure, can you really blame them?

/thread

Or they want to play a decent game instead of Forces which was a pile of doodoo

That pile of doodoo atleast tried to make the zones look unique. This shit has 4 new zones and everything else might aswell be a sprite rip.

The last time Sonic did "something new" was back in 2008 and game journos shit all over it (giving it worse scores than 06) while showering its much easier, casualized gimmicky """successor""" with "hilarious" writing for 6 year olds on the Wii with praise.

Seeing this, most if not all of the developers, level designers, artists, writers, etc. for Unleashed left Sonic Team shortly after they finished workimg on Sonic's last good game in 2011, as they felt that they were not wanted. And the ones that did stay were shoved aside to work on Mario & Sonic Olympics games. If you were never 100% sure as to why modern Sonic is so shit now, now you know.

Yeah yeah yeah, why don't you eat my ass?

Its more a case of sega being unable to make a good 3d sonic game, that they go back to square one.
I'd still rather play s3 and knuckles than play mania though, so all in all its a pointless game.

Oh, you mean this pile of shit? No, it sucked back then and it sucks now.

Well, Sonic Forces controlls pretty good in 2D, so they might aswell just go and make Rush 3 rather than force 3D segments where the controls are just not as good.

>Proof that faggots just want to replay the same thing again instead of something new
Not really. It shows more that people are down to enjoy a classic style game. Nobody asked or pleaded for Mania but we were pleasantly surprised and down for it. IIRC many complaints were the lack of NEW, even if the whole game was full of REMIX which is basically NEW.
Sonic Forces Sales show that people truly do also want a 3D sonic but sadly those just arent being made.
Lets not forget the plethora of halfbaked 3D sonic engines cropping up all over the internet lately.

>That pile of doodoo atleast tried to make the zones look unique
And it failed while still managing to rehash a lot of zones that Mania also rehashed anyways, except Forces did a much worse job at it.

Yes, with only like one being goood.
>Utopia just fucking sucks, end of story
>GH Paradise is good, but feels loose

Sonic Hero is the true step Sega should take, not Utopia. Hero has a variety of moves and truly feels perfect.

The only good 3d sonic games are sa1&2.
Unleashed had a nice cutscene, but overall gameplay and werewolf sonic killed it.
Generations was a "hey remember those good sonic games, well heres a butchered version of them that has no idea what it wants to be because we cant make a decent sonic game"

The intro cinematic was cool

I mean, it does

No one would've complained if this game was all new levels. That was Sega's fault. Colours showed they're still capable of making new good levels but just keep shoehorning in past levels for no good reason.

The bigest complaint I see regarding this game (not counting whatever bullshit seething 3Dfags make up) is all the rehashed stage designs. The team wanted to do more new stuff, but Sega is just so out of touch and had no faith in the project so they felt the need make it full of nostalgia pandering. Same reason why it was a digital only release at first while Forces got a physical version.
I can't wait for a sequel.

No it absolutely does not. It feels like slow shit, Sonic Team doesn't know how to code momentum to save their fucking life and you can feel every cut corner they need to take to make their shitty level design even function properly. Every loop is automated, ramps don't even work so they put a bounce pad at the end of all of them so you can make it to the next platform, there's zip pads everywhere because you won't even be able to make it up slopes if there weren't, Sonic isn't fucking capable of running up a quarter pipe, he needs to spin dash for everything because he can't do shit. Forces feels fucking awful and you have to be the most undiscerning mother fucker alive to think it's even passable. Sonic Team should give up on 2D because it's embarrassing.

>Colours showed they're still capable of making new good levels
The designers who made Colors left a long time ago. Check the credits, they've been hemorrhaging design talent for years.

I mean, that's basically the problem, there's only 4 new levels. Atleast have 6, that's the bare minimum of new zones to be decent.

the ps3 version sucks ass. but the ps2 version is far better

besides the shitty graphics

It should have been all new stuff as far as I care. No one really wants all the rehashing, especially not Green Hills and Chemical Plant for the 20 billionth time. But like I said, Sega can't wrap their heads around the idea that the classic, 2D Sonic games have a genuine appeal and it's not something people will just put up with because they're playing on a DS or its nostalgic throwback.

Most people's biggest criticism of the game is the rehashed Zones specifically, though. Ask anyone what they want from a "Mania 2" and they'll invariably mention "all new Zones."
