I want to think that's normal. Happens sometimes

i dont understand.
Loose cables probably, especially if your PC was doing things like randomly losing access to discs, blackscreening or shutting down instantly.
If it shuts down randomly, but nicely, it's overheating.

Is my computer fucking haunted?
My PC works normally but the following scenarios are becoming more and more common.
Scenario A
>start PC
>log in
>suddenly freezes
>restart, works normally
Scenario B
>start PC
>keyboard and button light up and PC whirs but nothing happens
>force shut down/restart several times
>eventually manage to boot
>rarely freezes after login
It's giving me the shits, both scenarios are happening almost all the time now and I have no idea what to do.

>disconnect and reconnect to install 360 drivers again
>controller starts working for that game only
I fucking hate Windows.
i was having display drivers crashing every 10 or so minutes. rolled back to the drivers i was using a week earlier and no difference. temps were good. resat my gpu and made sure the cables were making proper contact. this resulted in display drivers crashing several times a minute. i kicked it off the desk after dealing with that for half an hour.

No. Microsoft runs ton of commands in the background during startup, and alot of framework programs do aswell. Usually this is not shown since ghere's virtually no delay, but sometimes the computer runs differently due to heat or just circumstance and you see it. Doesn't matter.
Press prnt+scrn really quickly when you start up, if you're lucky you might manage to catch the cmd prompt before it closes, and then ctrl+v into paint
Thats how I got a glimpse into cmd prompts that close too quickly, but I guess it might be a harder trial and error process if it just appears once on startup.
The best gift you can give your computers performance is opening task manager, go to the autostart and just disable everything. Windows doesn't really need any of this, and it'sslowing your computer down. Start the programs when you're using them.

how?
By Googling it and downloading it on your phone's browser!
let me guess, and no one else but you can hear it too? there is a light in my house that makes a horrible high frequency noise that no one but me can hear. it makes me feel kinda sick if i listen to it for long enough.
ios has a paid for app called purify that is pretty damn good at ad blocking. it's a one time fee of like 2.99 iirc but it gets the job done, even if it's a tiny bit jewy

replace your PSU before it fries your PC retard
Mice secretly hump your mouse while you're asleep
It only happens during gaming though and when I check HWinfo the +12V and +5V and all voltage values are in proper order, is it still a sign of a dying PSU even then?
>go take a shower
>come back
>30% CPU usage
If your PC restarts itself for no apparent reason, 99% of the time it's your PSU about to croak.
Its only under high loads though, only when gaming. Which is why I can't rule out another possibility, but I'm stumped.
my last psu that was dying showed correct +12v and +5v values
Overheating.
>User-san, I...I...never mind!
You can have it tested if you take it to a proper computer shop if you don't want to buy a new one to try.
Just stop using it unless you can confirm that the PSU is definitely not the culprit.
Temps normal across the board, even when I had a period of poor temps with CPU at 80C and GPU at 70c it never shut down abruptly like that and core temp would notify me of overheating. And now its shutting down when temps are in normal ranges (50-60C) and under conditions that before never caused a shut down (explosions in games, lots of particle fx at once)
Well shit, so maybe what happens is its so old ( 6.5 years in my case) that the components just can't handle the power load/power spikes, even if the voltages are in their normal range?
hard drive is failing. It happened to me. I would back up some files you want to save now before it is too late.
Avast is botnet. Just get malwarebytes free and update windows defender.
>buy something from Wish or Amazon

>PC fans speed up
>open task manager

pretty much all you need nowadays is windows defender, malwarebytes and your common sense
Oh shit.
Speaking from experience last year I thought it was overheating, I blew out all the dust and temps were like 40C under heavy load, still kept randomly shutting down. Turns out the problem was I had my computer plugged into this extension cord with 4 plug sockets and when I checked it there were scorch marks, threw it out and plugged my computer into the wall, fixed it.
>open task manager
>see unfamiliar process for a split second

2 years ago, Google published a report about their new algorithm supposedly being able to predict a user's future searches for the following two weeks with up to a 94% degree of accuracy.
Your thoughts aren't being read, they're being anticipated.
Google knows what you're thinking right this moment, and what you will think of in the next two weeks.
Even though you don't.

This is why I search for random things like baby carrots and horoscopes online to throw the algorithm off.
For me though, I actually unplug my mouse when watching a Youtube video in fullscreen to avoid this, and it still happens. I unplug the mouse before even starting the video. If no one believes me I suggest trying it for yourself. It normally happens around halfway in.

Unless you google truly "random" things every single day, and those things also match up with your browsing profile, trying to throw the algorithm off your scent won't do shit.
The system is already geared to ignore noise, otherwise it'd be made useless every time a friend came to your house and asked to google something.
Even if you Google something more consistently, it won't be made part of your profile if it's not consistent with the sites you visit and the things you do online.

Your computer probably had two HDDs, and he made you install games on the secondary one so that they wouldn't slow down the PC on boot.
It won't do anything else on a PC that's not setup in the same way.
>slapping/hitting your computer
Why are americans so primitive?
Why would my second hard drive make booting noises all of a sudden?
Do americans really do that?

Why do zoomers hate antivirus so much? Aren't you the younger generation that's supposed to be smarter with tech? Those smartphones fucked your heads up.
It usually doesn't unless you hit it super fucking hard. They have sensors which detect impacts and park the heads so they don't hit the platter. A light tap can reseat a fan bearing and cause it to stop making noise. Better to just replace the fan though.
This is a known issue with AMD cards. Wipe your drivers completely and reinstall them. That usually fixed the issue for me. I haven't seen it happen in years now though.
Of all things i'd love for microsoft to do, redesigning windows to get rid of this is right at spot number 1. At leas tell the user what the hell each svchost is doing and what process are they attached to.
>16gb to add to my 8gb last night
Just add the 16GB and take out the 8GB you already have installed. Using different RAM sticks can get you into a world of shit. The frequencies and timings have to match perfectly for it all to work and since you currently have 8GB (assuming 2x4GB) your new RAM is unlikely to match. You'll be fine with the 16GB you just got, you don't need the extra 8GB.
Being smarter with tech means you have less need for antivirus software. I haven't had an antivirus installed for years now and I've had zero issues with malware of any kind. All an antivirus has managed to do for me is get a bunch of false positives and quarantine files I actually need, fucking things up.
I used Optix Pro on a friend of mine back in high school. He lost his shit when the disc tray opened.
>when your AV flags something after you've already ran it five times
>At leas tell the user what the hell each svchost is doing and what process are they attached to.
It's been like this for a while now. Are you still using W7? W10 builds starting from 1703 show what each svchost process is attached to.
Blokada works for me but I'm pretty sure they're out of budget so watch out for adblock plus level shenanigans. Other than that adaway is a billion times better and almost perfect but requires root
Any browsers you guys could recommend? Should i just use IE or chrome? I heard negative rumours about both but I just want a simple stripped down browser to browse shit. Been using IE without additional functions till now

> all these people saying they've never had virus
Ok, help me out here. I believe I haven't had a virus for a the longest time either. HOWEVER. A few days ago I got an email form twitch saying someone from china, netherlands, and whatever else (probably using proxies) got a successful login. Also, years ago, someone managed to login in my Path of Exile account and steal everything. Now here's the thing, I've searched my entire drives, all the processes, services, scanned with multiple anti virus and anti malware software, and I can't find anything that could resemble a key logger of sorts.
What the hell is going on?
Nice. I used to prank kids in my classes using the chat and making my name "the ghost in the machine"

Wait, one 16GB ram stick is good enough instead of 2 8GB?
fockin legend
No. Always use dual channel. Especially on Ryzen.
Twitch was a database leak. POE was probably also a database leak with a reused password.
>set up username/password for a site/game
>reuse the same username and password combination for several different ones
>one database gets leaked with username, password hash (or even a plaintext password if their security is pants on head retarded) and usually an email address
>hacker googles your email and username to find all the websites/games it's publicly associated with
>they use the password they got from the breach and hope you reused it for those sites too
>if you reused it for your email then it's GG because they can then request password resets even if they haven't got your passwords to your accounts.
2x 8gb is better than 1x 16gb if your motherboard supports dual channel memory, because then basically your cpu can read & write to your RAM twice as fast.
This works great unless you have 2 different capacities/speeds of ram stick, theoretically it shouldn't make a difference but in reality it can fuck you up. A simplified explanation is that if your cpu requests data from both sticks at the same time it expects it to be returned at the same time, if they arrive at slightly different times it can cause latency or instability
>Unending paranoia that there's some sort of malicious virus/keylogger/program running at all times despite running multiple anti-virus tools
I know all the mild inconveniences and hiccups my laptop experiences is probably because it's getting a bit old now but it's not helping my paranoia

Does chrome have container tabs?
support.mozilla.org
They're a god send to prevent facebook from knowing what you're doing outside of it. It's basically a private, dedicated tab exclusively for facebook. You can use different container tabs for multiple websites. After using the container, facebook pretty much stopped showing ads of things that I browse on the net that have connections to it.
>Being smarter with tech means you have less need for antivirus software
No, that's just you being a plain jane retard. If you were REALLY smart, you'd stop buying shit anti-virus and pick up something that doesn't "lock up the files you need". You've basically been lucky so far and are missattributing it to you being "smart and streetwise".
>leave my torrent client open for seeding
>all of a sudden Norton alerts me its firewall blocked attempted exploits via the torrent client from an outside source
>check the logs, get the attacking IP
>IP to geolocation
>china
Every fucking time
Container tabs by themselves stop facefuck from tracking you, their main source of tracking is pages that have embedded "share to facebook" buttons (so basically any blog or news website)
If you're logged into facebook in your browser, and you visit a site with a facebook share button, facebook know you've visited that page even if you didn't have a facebook tab open.
The solution is to ONLY log into facebook in container tabs so you do not have an active facebook session in your browser when surfing the rest of the web.
>The solution is to ONLY log into facebook in container tabs so you do not have an active facebook session in your browser when surfing the rest of the web.
When you create the container tab for facebook, firefox automaticaly logs you off from facebook everywhere else.
