It's a great action beat'em up RPG, but the real core of the series is probably the living world that is Kamurocho, because the well handled sidequests and characters are like a living extension of the city instead of side-quests for the sake of side-quests.
A lot of the other side-games do this well, too, outside of Kamurocho.

For better or worse, if you like the combat, you'll play through the world to get more of it and enjoy it more when the story hits it's high notes or the bevy of side-quests eventually hit their mark.
If you like the story but hate the combat, you'll deal with it for the world and characters and probably come out appreciating the combat a bit more when it hits it's high notes, like the mostly excellent boss fights.

If you like both, it's basically an inimitable franchise.

I am at the Against All Odds sub story. Is the quest beatable if you're a complete beginner at Mahjong ? I've tried roughly 20 games and the most I could get up at is 10k points. It seems the AI is relatively easily because they don't win with hands worth lot of points but even with that I can't seem to climb back up from that point deficit.

The series primarily focuses on the yakuza Kazuma Kiryu from the Tojo clan. Wrong, Kiwami is supposed to be played after Y0 and it's not supposed to be played as the first game.

Weirdly enough it doesn't even seem to be canon since the pocket circuit fighter sub story in 6 references his sub story in 0, but not the one in K1.
But if you want to get into the series there's an obvious route you might not like.

Kiwami 1 is basically the same game as 0 visually so expect the same performance. Kiwami 2 is more demanding as it runs on a new engine, either try before buying or stay under 2 hours of game time to refund if you get crappy performance.

Fixed camera angles create a much more atmospheric scene. Since 3 the games have framed Kiryu (and other MC) like a hero who's taller than most tiny npc japs. In the og 1 & 2 he looks like a small part of the crowd, thanks to the camera angles.

10 minutes, since I did it without the peerless tile. It's actually a joke because they just dump a shit load of badass tiles on you. Even if you don't use the peerless tile, you should be able to beat it fairly easily. But the only caveat is that you'd have to be familiar with the limit hands since I got 2 of those in that substory. if you can't recognize limit hands, you might miss out on huge points.

Just finished yakuza 5 and Aizawa was such a random final boss but the choreography was sick. The ending was lame as fuck. Haruka speech was cute and emotional but what about her dream and Park dream? Why didn't we get a proper closure for Kurosawa? Saejima and friends just chilling on the rooftop forever?

The gameplay is shit, enemies block far too much and you do pitiful damage anyway even if your attack lands, it feels worse to play than 2, chases were annoying as fuck, some revelations were hard to find, and the pacing was absolutely terrible up until you leave Okinawa. That said, Okinawa is great, the orphanage shit can be unbearably slow paced but is still really comfy, and the plot can be so bad it’s good. I wouldn’t advise skipping it but it’s probably the worst mainline game in the series
