I always liked this one.

Never even played the game before, but remember stumbling across it ages ago.
Also this from a game I actually have played

Honestly, maybe every single town theme from Vesperia.

[you hear a chainsaw revving in the distance]

i have so much memories making shitty rpgmaker games that went nowhere with this as the starting town theme
The FM Synth version is better in my opinion.
damn, I was gonna post Wild Arms!
well ,that's a high five from me.
Does this count?

did your stories evolve ? ill buy this rpgmaker if it helps creativity.
Grandia 2 baby

I never really thought about it but none of my favorite jrpgs have good town themes
Here's a good song

trying to build a game for yourself always helps you build creativity.
suddenly you realize even just going through the motions takes commitment, and commitment helps build creativity most of all.
thanks.
This song gives me "This show was filmed before a live studio audience" vibes.
gottapostfast
This theme always stuck with me over the years.
I'm not even a huge fan of the game it's from, but it still brings a welcome chunk of nostalgia.
user and his faggots posts were filmed before a live studio audience.
i dunnot why the theme music must be 80s but i has to be.
>Sitting in the desert in full mopp gear while chemical alarms going off
>humming ff9 music to myself to pass the time.
based You are not alone piano version mp3.
Octopath had some great town themes

Soundtracks like Octopath Traveler's give me mixed vibes. I can acknowledge and enjoy the objective quality of the music as I hear it while I play it, but nothing in this game save for the battle theme because you hear it all the time stick in my memory. I dunno how to rank soundtracks if they're objectively good but completely unmemorable.
The argument could be made that many OSTs aren't memorable unless you hear the song a lot or over a long duration. Could be part of why a lot of old game OSTs resonate with people since the games were often short enough to endure multiple replays, or the games used very few themes overall.
I'll admit some OSTs I remember fondly must be partly thanks to playing the songs over and over again on my cassette/CD player. Of course I knew the song sounded cool the first time I heard it, but I wasn't humming it on my way to school until after I'd drilled it into my brain.
gen 5 has an extremely underrated OST
Not gonna check the thread for Lunar. Just gonna post it.

A true shame. My third favorite OST behind 4 and 2.

Look at that ridiculous castle. Say what you want about the rest of the game, but the fags really nailed the esthetic.
the things I remember most from this game are the guy's nordictrack walk cycle, and the shower scene.
This is the field/town theme for my own game, I think it's nice but I have 0 knowledge of actual music theory so what do I know.
I think it's a little too somber personally. I feel field themes should be upbeat, either an adventurous sounding song or just something that's relaxing but still kind of happy. I think this song would work better for some old forest ruins.
obligatory Ar Tonelico
ar tonelico in general had a god tier ost
Sandoria > Bastok > Windurst
Kazham's the best though
Yeah you're right, but like I said I have literally no idea what I'm doing.
I have to do the music for this project because there is no budget to hire someone. I'm throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks, never worked with FL studio before this.
That track and these ones instaud.io
This could work for a town depending on the intended mood, but I agree it might work better for a dungeon map. The thing that's deciding that heavily for me are the drums. which give off a very foreboding vibe here.
But again, if this is the kind of mood within the town, then it might fit perfectly.
Keep composing, you'll learn a lot from it.
But whatever you do, keep absorbing all of the knowledge you can get in the process. "I have no idea what I'm doing" should only be a temporary state that your mind is in, but eventually you'll know enough to get the job done.
The overall theme has to be kind of somber.
Long story short it's a local government project about Roman history with the goal of getting children interested into authentic Romanisation of the Germanics.
So less Asterix and more educational.
I'm basically ripping off Assassin's Creed's story while trying to keep it somewhat interesting for children, but using actual authentic music is kind of dull for their age I think. Most of their music was very trippy and haunting: youtube.com

Comfy times.
SNES soundchip version of the song is my personal favorite.

This is one of the more memorable overworld/town songs that I know of.
Say what you will about the game itself, but the town themes in Xenoblade 2 are consistently fantastic.

Old mmo songs are soulful.
the shitty port is actually NISA's fault, an american company
Excellent taste OP.
Not really a town theme, but it's use is similar. The calm relaxing song that plays when you are at HQ.

The best town theme of them all.
