The Shadow Warrior reboot has a boss who heals himself every time he's low on health and the only way to defeat him is by nuking him while he is in his healing animation.
This is nearly fucking impossible on the highest difficulty. I almost broke my mouse.

fucking retarded king bomb fight in FF12

this dude never leveled yuna lol
Why not just multiply the boss's HP by 1.5 in that case?
you're mom
Because if you're a chad you can get them slightly above 50% HP then burst all of it down at once
FF12 had some serious bullshit, I'm still seething over a decade later
>the main ultimate weapon in the game cannot be acquired if you opened any one of 4 specific chests throughout the game
>these chests aren't even out of the way, and there is nothing to indicate that there is anything special about them or that they block the game's ultimate weapon if opened
>"b-but that's bullshit how would anyone know its not fair to fuck them over with something so cryptic and screw them out of the weapon!"
>you're right, so they put in another way to get the weapon through a chest in a very deep end game area
>the chest has a 10% chance to spawn at all when you load into the area
>if the chest spawns, it has a 10% chance to contain an item
>if the chest has an item, there is a 10% chance that item is the ultimate weapon
>so have fun with your 0.1% chest farming to get the weapon if you stupidly opened a chest 2 hours into the game :^)
Unironically the biggest instance of horse shit I've ever seen in an RPG.
D-Walker my man.
I did level Yuna. The bosses in the game use a move called "banish" that straight up dismisses your summon and you can't use it again that battle.
Unless you're overleveled with break damage limit and blow the boss up on the turn you summon it, the summon is gone when the boss takes his turn.
>Not using summons specifically to drop Overdrives on bosses and tank party wipe attacks.
>boss has an extremely long and unskippable cutscene before the fight
>Get SR Point for killing this boss
>He flees at 50% health
I fucking hate these objectives so much and they're like 30% of them at least.
I just looked it up and supposedly you can get it from some hunting club or something.
Happens multiple times in FFX.
>boss can target an ally that was just revived, even though dead characters shouldn't be targetable
>revealing that enemies pick their target before they attack, instead of at the start of a turn like you do
Only in the international/zodiac version of the game.
The original release only had that cryptic bullshit.
Are you talking about Vicar Amelia? Numbing mist my dude
>characters kit is based on buff removal then bursting down a nerfed target
>all late game bosses have unremovable busted as fuck buffs
fuck fgo's boss designs
Charm Salt is still real it seems.
>have a bunch of really cool and effective status ailments that you can inflict
>bosses are immune to all of them
>regular enemies die to fast for them to matter
> Boss has multiple health bars
several of those in the NWN games. I remember a dracolich that did it in HotU
In God of War 2 you have to start the final boss all over if you fail the QTE.
vanilla 12 was the last rpg game I can think of (i dont play much) that had the retardation of NES rpg game design. good they fixed it in izjs
>Final boss has a phase in which he summons two minions that heal him
>If you don't focus ALL your attacks on the minions every turn and kill them before the boss' turn starts, they will nuff him and fully heal him
>in the meanwhile, you have to chip the boss' health whenever possible really fucking slowing thanks to the killed minions reviving every turn
Dammit, Wild Arms 3.
Still fucking adore the game and its boss fights.
>Boss heals after hitting 10% health
>Theres no change in mechanics or gameplay
WHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRR
>final boss keeps reviving you
>beat game
>sent back to start and have to beat the entire game 6 more times to fight the true final boss and actually beat the game
>Bosses regularly have upwards of 100,000+ HP
>Most of them have a generic buff move that increases their attack power, speed, AND recovers 20% of their max hp all at once
>They can use this move whenever they want, sometimes multiple times in a row
haha.....
>Boss can revive adds
>Adds can revive boss
Never beat it
>RPG Boss gets stronger at night and loses its set attack pattern
>Boss punishes you for keeping all of your party members alive, so you basically have to let one of your members die otherwise you lose
>He does this every 6-7 turns
Oh man she was a pain in my ass in both games. Wish I remember how I beat them, but it probably involved a Vampire
>Boss has 6 gorillion health and a braindead attack pattern that makes the fight tedious instead of challenging
>boss in literally any fighting game
>grappler's moveset is now 99% fuckng useless
nothin' personnel.
>plays on the easiest setting and still cocks it up
It's just the gift that keeps on giving, huh?
>boss is extremely easy and poses no threat, but takes 20 minutes to kill because it's a massive damage sponge
Why do this?
I'd ragequit too in that position.
>tartarus
>forget to change from Jack Frost
>get ambushed
>Fire Magus shadows
>down MC every turn
>party members don't feel like healing me
>get to watch as I die without getting a single turn
Took a month off from the game when that happened.
>stupid twitter pic

>Play
The emotion factor of seeing your hard work melt away. Obviously you would just plan on it but the presentation still counts for something.
>Boss or level is radical
>No extra save slots or level select
I forgot since I haven't played P3 in years, but wouldn't that only heal the current phase Nyx is in? Or would it heal it all the way back to the beginning of the fight?
I just remember doing most of the phases pretty fast thanks to my nigga Surt.
>boss hides near the health and hits you with an emp so your targeting systems dont work, allowing her to easily clean you up
Do you fight him again in the second game? I couldn't stomach it, never finished it.
I think each form has ~1000HP. That's on his final form with a ton of HP.
>used to have a GC memory card that had a save at basically every checkpoint in Viewtiful Joe
>disappeared one day without a trace
Goddamn do I want a level select in that game
darkest dungeon
siren
just use finest arts, I'm pretty sure it'll one shot any boss in the main story
That can be easily circumvented by bringing no healers.
Oh man.
Finest Arts with Clive was the tightest shit ever. I love hidden broken shit like that.
I should really replay it on PS4, but I dropped WA4, so I think I should finish that one first.
To add to this, TerraXehanort in Birth By Sleep
Yeah you do, they're not as powerful as they are in the first game though
raids in destiny were aids when that happend
>game has a system to indicate how many phases a boss has
>the indicator just fucking lies and half the bosses have an extra phase because fuck you
Wild Arms 4 is definitely weaker overall, but I think it's still worth a playthrough.
Shame. You'd think with TWICE the adventure, they'd be even huger.
>boss is so bullshit you just give up because it must be a scripted loss (game has shown precedent for this)
>it's not a scripted loss
Or
>take loss
>cutscene starts
>"ok whew it was scripted loss"
>game over screen
>it was the bad ending
>bosses that kidnap you, tie you up in their basement and force feminize you with hormones and mental conditioning
So tired of it...
>Need to turn off the boss's invincibility spikes
>They come back up
>Boss knows your secret but you don't
>Kidnap and forces you to be a baby producing machine
>Makes a whole army and take over the world with your kids
fucking dawn of sorrow
this shit was such a pain in my fucking dick with a mouse
>they outheal enemy damage
>enemies end up getting bored and leaving
>win on a walkover
upvoted
Not really on topic, but I had an Awesomenauts game like this. We did so well on defense that after an hour two enemies straight up left
Oh hey its the reason I quit sekiro at the final boss
>Boss enters invulnerability phase
>Boss can still deal damage and kill you in this phase
>No adds
>Playing build that keeps it self alive by dealing damage
He's a culmination of all the moves you fought against and should've known how to counter by now. Were you just bored?
Pretty much, it didnt feel like it was a "use everything you learned" fight
It was a "do the same thing you have been doing since the 50% mark" but more half of my moveset (all arms and most techniques) the combat felt worthless, i stopped not put if difficulty, cause i only had like 5 attempts, compared to 7 on the ape. I actively lost the desire to continue due to boredom and frustration
Someone's been playing dragon quest 2.
I played Skyrim as a magic user, and one of the daedric artifact quests has you fight against a boss who is flat out immune to magic. Both me and the boss had access to healing spells, so I literally grinded up my one-handed level from 15 to ~80 against this boss over the course of a couple hours.
>final boss disguises itself as an add
On the plus side, it's perfectly excusable to abuse save states for drawing the seals, because no one wants to deal with that.
>WoW pvp flashbacks.jpg
Healing in wow pvp was stupid as fuck, esp if you had a resto druid that was good at pillar humping.
Resto druid was flavour of the year for several years straight in that regard.
>in game arena
>character gets controlled by AI during this section
>enemy consistently uses an ability to launch your character out of the match and force you to start over endlessly.
fuckin worst part of getting everyone back in FFVI
>you and your linkshell have spent 5 hours fighting this
>you're actually getting somewhere
>you've got it down to 30%
>it switches to low-HP bracelets mode
>starts fucking up the tanks hardcore
>it does pic related and heals to full
>tfw the bracelets dont go away after it heals
>tfw it can heal again whenever it wants, along with being invincible, impossible to hit or instantly killing the alliance whenever it feels like it
funny that Absolute Virtue still holds the record for longest time before being beaten legitimately. not counting exploits and hacks, it was undefeated for 10+ years which is pretty insane for an MMO.
it only even got beaten once the level cap went up 24 levels and people were high enough level to actually not die to it straight away.
>10 years undefeated
Nah brah, it came out like '06-'07. The level cap didn't raise past 75 until after I quit (late '08-ish)
>>there isn't an a way to easily interrupt it
Well, yeah. That's why they're called bosses.
>boss has move to give himself 2 more turns in a turn based game
>Steamworld Quest
>The bosses are only immune to ailments none of your characters can give them
Fucking bizarre.
level cap went up like 2011/2012 or so. yeah not 10 years, my bad but still spanning years is a fuckin long time and still the record holder.
funny thing is when people sued SE for Pandemonium Warden taking 18+ hours to fight and players 'getting sick' it was a wake-up call to how fuckin casual the community had gotten.
Eve Online players have huge battles that regularly go for 20~36 hours and it's no big deal
>World of Final Fantasy
>Kill the Bomb Boss
>It explodes dealing 90%hp to both characters who died because not full hp
>Contrary to every other FF bomb who doesnt explode when you kill it
Absolute bullshit
I hated that FF9 revived your characters with about 10 hp so any AOE killed them again
Also fuck those RPGs where you have to set up your turn but you can't heal KOed characters for that sweet rez+heal to full to keep them safe
>implying
The only shit you have to do on each run through is the crystals and thats it.
It's tedious but hardly beating the game 6 more times
>cant target dead characters
a true crime.
>you can't reflect reflected damage
>but boss can
Bosses like this usually have less HP to offset.
