Mordhau doesn't scratch the itch for me. I like bigass clobbering weapons in vidya; stuff like greatswords or gigantic hammers. For Honor has some characters with absurdly large weapons, so it feels powerful and satisfying to whack an enemy with it. In Mordhau, the closest I get to feeling like a clobbering machine is the Maul, which is just a kinda-big rock on a stick.

It doesn't even matter though, because shields are unbreakable and have no reasonable counter, so it's a chore to actually land a hit anyway.

Casuals can't play it because they get dumpstered in their first game.

Bullshit it does. Shields are unbreakable and allow you to just hold RMB to block all incoming attacks. There's a reason the "OP cheese" strat right now is rapier+shield for easy blocking of all attacks and cheap stab-spam (the developers acknowledged it and said they're going to nerf the rapier though).

Being an attacker isn't rewarding at all; your opponent can just block, parry or even chamber to counter-attack. I'd say Mordhau is way more turtle-y than For Honor in it's current state.

No it doesn't. The gameplay is incredibly reactionary and barely and moves in the games actually require hard reads. There's a reason the comp scene died and every player who is half decent only play 4v4 modes anymore. Duels are boring ass turtlefest where the first person who presses buttons loses. Ubisoft never commented on units sold, they only ever started talking about how many people downloaded the game after they gave it away for free two times. It had an in game player count tracker but the player count died so fast that they removed it from the game.

The only comparison is "unga bunga me see sword in this game, me see sword in other game, therefore same." Like I said, it's friggen Competitive Simon. There's nothing complex or deep about it, and there's not even an attempt at overarching historical accuracy or resemblance to any historical setting, just some stupid fun about stupid shit like pitching Chinks vs Vikings. Despite this, it continues to live rent-free at the top of the comments for every Mordhau video and is endlessly brought up in comparison, even here. To be honest, I can see the problem with the design of MK11 and honestly in general since it got rebooted. It looks as if Tencent decided to make a Mortal Kombat game.

The flashing icons you have to match up to block. However, theres too many other moves like unblockables, guard breaks, countering, and stamina management for it to even be simon says outright. Besides some light attacks are impossible to block if your not already in that position.

I play lawbringer, he's better now, basically you now always get an unblockable attack if you finish with a heavy and always get a light if you finish with a top heavy, although the price for that was that you can't shove on block which makes him worse against assassins and makes it harder to start shove chains. Other than that it's pretty good.
