I often hear that this is the best of the Zelda series. Why is that?
I often hear that this is the best of the Zelda series. Why is that?
That's not Links Awakening
Same reason OOT is considered best Zelda.
>not Wind Waker
>Fart Waker
Fuck off with your zoomer shit
I like the gameplay, story and the visuals are pretty and timeless. You can't deny that OoT looks like fucking shit today.
it doesn't but ok
Not even meming here, i found a wii in the garbage the other day. 3 pro controllers, on motion controller/nunchuck, an avatar game, fire emblem:radiant dawn, and zelda:skyward sword. is this a good zelda game or not? i've also never played FE, did i just find literal trash or should i get started? i know very little about modern nintendo games
It’s really not, those people likely just want to be special, but it’s very good and I wish the series would return to a lot of its design
So I'm dying quite a bit towards the end of the game here. Am I just bad at video games then? Shit's embarrassing.
It's Ocarina of Time except without all the bullshit handholding and unskippable cinematics. And the graphics actually look good.
Its not even the best 2D Zelda
ALttP is my least favorite 90s Zelda besides CDI
It's up there with Majora's Mask and Wind Waker
It's very good.
The story is great, the gameplay is fantastic, the sound effects are good. Even the presentation is great. An overall solid Zelda title.
You gotta pick two timelines, one to remain but never play and other to play. The one left behind will be permanently erased
>tfw got memed into buying A Link Between Worlds
It's so soulless
A Link to the Past is the template of every Zelda game to come after and of most action RPG tropes.
It is the very definition of a classic in the best sense.
It introduced many iconic and long lasting features to the series. It could be considered the definitive Zelda game. It's my personal favorite, but let's be honest; there are quite a few Zelda games that could be considered the best in the series.
It's not. LBW is better, LA is better, OoT is better, MM is better, WW is better, TP is better, BotW is better.
it's my favorite just because it's the first Zelda game i played but in general it's just fun.
Agreed with all, except OoT, MM, WW, and TP. Those are bad games.
the only worthwhile discussion of zelda happens when you split the 2D ones and the 3D ones. that being said out of the 2D ones this game is good but far from the best, oracles and LA are better
You know the game gives you different clothing that resists the attacks better right? And a better Master Sword
And use fairies for godsake
A link to the past is notably ugly as sin though, Disgusting color pallet and the art is subpar
I have all the upgrades and they are useless. Way too easy to get hit.
Then yes, you are just bad at videogames
Try getting the magic upgrade if you don't have it (it's easily missable) and use the cane that makes you invulnerable, combine it with green/blue potions and you should be far durable enough
boomer nostalgia mostly
Minish Cap was a lot better
>Potions
>Cape
>Cane
>Reflexes
Do you have any of these things?
It's great if you don't mind motion controls
It looks good and even though the dungeons are numbered you can go in almost any order. You don't need every item to beat the game. It's why the Randomizer is so popular
if i do mind the motion controls, can i just play it with the game pad?
FUCK, true-to-game art makes me hard as fuck. If only Nintendo would remember this going forward instead of using the stupid Hylian Shield for the 99th time.
Because it's pretty good.
no
good light/dark world, decent to challenging dungeons and boss fights. plenty of shit to do. The thing to remember is this is a 1991 game. Compare it to other games that came out around then and its absolutely stellar.
Ocarina of Time looks just as good as it did the day it came out
Remember when the Golden Master Sword was a more Link-looking sword with a new and rad design instead just the default Master Sword with a golden colored blade?
Unpopular opinion, but I feel that Link to The Past has *too* much dungeoning in it if you compare it yo other Zeldas. Sure, it ain’t good to go all BoTW and have barely any dungeon romping in the game, but I feel that games like Link’s Awakening etc. make more use of their world.
Ocarina has soul. TP is the one that didn't age as well.
ALttP is actually a really small overworld but part of that is because they introduced Dark World. as geographic fiiller.
Ganon's Tower is way too fucking long in this one. Just let me fight the prick.
Dungeons are great, they're arguably the meat of the Zelda games
>3/4 damage reduction
>useless
I wonder how will the LV2 sword look in Link's Awakening remake. In the original one the sword was pretty much a dream copy of Link's Master Sword
Best balance between dungeon variety and challenge, well-designed overworld(s) with plenty of secrets to find, dungeon items that had multiple uses both in dungeons and on the overworld, and a decent story that was neither too barebones nor too in-your-face.
In lots of ways its the perfect Zelda game.
Given that they've already shoehorned in the modern Hylian Shield, I'm expecting it to look exactly like the Master Sword. I'll be fucking shocked if they actually make it grey and not purple.
Back in the days when there was no set 'canon' for Zelda and the swords and shields could change. I miss that.
11 or 12 dungeons, a nice difficult progression, secrets all over the map and the game doesn't hold your hand the whole time. It's also super replayable. What a masterpiece.
A Link Between Worlds is a great game though
Fuck you are right, I'm so used to see OoT Hylian shield every single time I didn't even realize the original Hylian shield of LA was diffferent
I can and do easily deny that you fucking dumb zoomer
>fire emblem:radiant dawn
You lucky fucking nigger
That shit looks fantastic put through Waifu2x
boomers can't handle 3 dimensional video games
This. The only thing that falls short playing it now are the puzzles. Back in 1991 they were good, but now they fall short. Basically open all pots, push all black and statues and the puzzle is solved. OoT really shined at bringing the dungeon puzzles to the next step. In fact it skipped several. They were fantastic puzzles that took full advantage of the inventory, themes and 3D space. It makes LttP look so simple in comparison.
watch the enemy movement and learn to dodge it then attack when opportunity presents this is the baics of all combat based gameplay
>
I don't really have a problem with the OoT Hylian Shield appearing in the newer Zelda games, but it bothers the fuck out of me in the LA remake because autism incoming if you're going to remake a game that has dedicated art depicting what the canon shield is, you should make the remake shield faithful to the original.
Having it be the OoT Hylian Shield AGAIN just reeks of the same homogenization that seems to plague Mario these days.
why would the reforged by master smiths sword look all dented and messed up?
nigga please
he meant real 3d games not that simulated SHIT
low quality bait
decent is NOT real 3D you retard
Maybe the Master Sword itself became all chipped by the time between the time Link pulled it from the pedestal and they enhanced it.
Ask Nintendo, the reforged Master Sword looking like shit was their idea
I just hate that hilt.
WW is an unfinished piece of shit,
fpbs
i wonder if they did a behind the back style 3D remake today if they would follow that
only thing i can think of is this was meant to be the first level but someone got very confused when they made the swords and the game shipped that way
Like Link's Crossbow Training
it literally is, I used to make levels for it, it's not like doom's 2.5d where you just use tricks with teleports to simulate 3d environments, it's an actual 3D environment.
no
its
not
you
massive
faggot
piece
of filth
You know that they wouldn't.
I doubt it, the basic Master Sword is even in the fucking title screen, that's its default look
yes, it is.
It's not, but it's reasonably close.
Perfect combination of non-linear and linear game design, has lots of cool shit, fun gameplay, challenging but not obtuse, lots of content. Personally I prefer ALBW though, it just feels like ALttP but with all of the best ideas from later zelda games (and some good ideas of its own) added to it
No, it isn't. They always knew what the Master Sword looked like. The title sword is just a rando sword.
I'm a retard, I just realized you were talking about the title screen and not the boxart. Disregard
BotW can't be considered an S-tier Zelda game. It's abysmal dungeons drag it down substantially. Still an A rank though.
I still don’t get why link has pink hair. Makes him look like some modern age tranny.
Plink is best link
it's called nostalgia
It can't be, I played ALttP for the first time last year and thought it was great
It's not.
>oot, sm64, pokemon red/blue are now considered retro
I just beat this game right now and while I enjoyed it and it was more difficult than most of the games I wouldn't say it's the best to me.
A man that has 20 dollars is considered rich when compared to men with only 5 dollars. hhaaha i called them all bad
user I know time can be a bitch sometimes but if someone can legally drink despite being born after X videogame was relased then that game is clearly retro
