I didnt use to have to. Demos where very good slices of actual gameplay and gave us a taste of what was in store. They gave a good insight to if your computer could run the game, what the gameplay was like and a hint of the story (if there was one).

Now what do we have. Almost no game releases demos, and the few that do are almost all lies. Shit like anthem and Aliens CM, whos 'demos' are all 100% constructed for that little slice and have next to nothing like it in the actual game (and in almost every single case, a massive downgrade in everything because the slice was a lie).

We have game companies putting out games so incomplete, its safe to call it an early beta. Patches bigger than the actual game, months of fixes for shit that should have never been shipped, entire sections of the game cut out only to be released later as paid DLC, despite it being present in the main game up until launch, games whos devs and publishers have literally (and I do mean literally, quoted in interviews and everything) basically said

So yea. Ill keep pirating until I find a game I like that doesnt do even 1/3rd of these things, and then, IF I feel its worth the price AND its on the store I wish to buy it from, I will. In my mind, if I buy a game on steam, play it for 1 hour and 30 mintues, then refund it, its the same exact outcome as me torrenting a game.
