People who want proper emulation. A lot of these Sega Ages titles are getting content added or restored and the prices are about on par for the Wii's Virtual Console.

I mean why would I buy the Genesis Collection over the Sega Ages titles. Sure it's cheaper but the emulation quality is poor so I'd be better off just downloading roms. I believe high quality ports with more content being able to be purchased ala-carte is a much better idea unless we get a proper collection done by M2

I mean, they tried Sega Ages in Japan on the fucking PS2, and surprise, they sold so poorly that they never remade Phantasy Star IV like they did the first two games. What the fuck were they expecting even with the age of digital downloads? And even if AM2 personally ports everything themselves in the new Sega Ages stuff, you need games people give a shit about to begin with, and so far they've brought over a handful of arcade games compiled in basically everything SEGA, a couple Master System games, and Sonic 1 with a Drop Dash and a definitive Thunder Force IV - both series that probably resonate a lot more with the west than Japan.

I got Sonic 1 and Outrun. Sonic 1 with drop dash and arcade-perfect Outrun with remixed stages are well worth the price IMO. I wish they'd port Sonic 2 with the restored Hidden Palace stage that the mobile version has.

You probably did. They've done a Sega Ages per-generation since the Saturn, then to the PS2, then to the PS3/360 as individually downloadable titles without the Ages branding. The newest stuff is Switch-exclusive but also the most extensive they're going with the branding.

I can already emulate most Genesis games on my SNES Classic, and while the Genesis Mini may be packing 40 games and USB Genesis controllers instead of more Wiimote dongle bullshit, I don't really have an urge to buy that up unless I find it for a bargain.

M2 doesn't do straight up emulations. They completely recode them. Like Outrun is 60fps now instead of original 30

You'll probably see really efficient Genesis emulation that they can likely do with direct system documentation from Sega, but these will otherwise straight-up be emulating the games with a save state system attached.

Resale of SNES and older games along with consoles is already an active market in Japan unlike overseas. Why the fuck would they want emulation when they can get the real thing.

SEGA was a mega success in arcades, and the Saturn lived there far longer than it did in the west (though to be fair Bernie Stolar basically sabotaged them on that one), but they're modest at best in the industry otherwise. Which makes games like Phantasy Star Online 2, likely only held in Japan initially because of spite for people pirating a fucking PSP game in the west before all the crossover contractual weeb shit seeped in, all the more frustrating.

I doubt they can do Saturn or Dreamcast well themselves. All the HD ports of those games are based off of pre-existing Gamecube or PC ports. I think AM2 expressed that actually doing either system would be a real pain in the ass, and the Shenmue 1 remaster is probably more of an exception to the rule than a new definition.

They're complete remasters re-coded from the ground up, but they're made to be as accurate as possible. The Phantasy Star one is probably the best since it adds stuff like a mini-map and a guide, making it MUCH better than just emulating the original.

Sonic 1, Thunder Force 4, Phantasy Star, Out Run, Gain Ground, and Alex Kidd. Japan also has Puyo Puyo and Virtua Racing, they should be out in the next few months.

It's basically just the 3DS version but for switch. Only real downside is that they had to re-sprite the car cause they lost the ferrari license. But other than that it pretty much is the arcade game on the go so it's a decent investment if you want that.

The only shared releases so far is OutRun and Sonic. OutRun has more music and no 3D so really that's up to what you value. 3D adds nothing to Sonic and Switch has the drop dash added so that's the real winner here.

The Model 1 colors are wrong.

It went through an NTSC signal. No dispaly can show NTSC color gamut.

So the Switch colors are probably more accurate when displaying the game on a CRT.
