Which Walljump is Best Wall Jump

Attached: file.png (1013x533, 56K)

The first, obviously

Help me understand the distinction between 1 and 3.

I hate the second one. Its so unsatisfying. I don't know what you mean by the 3rd option. Give us an example.

3 offers no freedom whatsoever and is just basically a QTE
1 is mario 64

Is 3 poking fun at Sekiro, which has like exactly 3 of those setups in the whole game and they're all in optional areas?

In 1 he's just jumping to the wall to the left and the wall to the right. In 3 he's also making use of the wall in the background.

grapling hook

Probably Metroid prime

The best one is a combination of 1 and 2, allowing maximum freedom and varied level design.
Prove me wrong.
You won't.

SUPER METROID
MEGAMAN X
METROID PRIME 2

should have used those examples

Anyone that played GunZ knows that 2 is the only right answer

1 is like New Super Mario Bros, the third one is like Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes.

First and second because Megaman

Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom

I tend to attempt the second one more often than the first, mostly because I want to search for secrets where there arent.

In Super Metroid you can walljump up the same wall.

2 really only exists for games that let you wallcling/wallslide. Megaman X & Zero are the main users of it. I'm not a huge fan myself, even as a huge fan of the MMZ series, as I prefer the back-and-forth rhythm, although you do get some of that in those games anyway.

2 is gay because you can just jump infinitely

number 3 because battle for bikini bottom

3D Wall Jumping where you Wall Run along each wall for a second or three before jumping off at a high speed to not only get great vertical mobility but also extremely long leaps over terrain to the point that the ground may as well not exist and your travel options are as vast as every wall in front of you.

I wonder if the Overgrowth guy feels any shame over working for so long and having so little to show for it.

>sony exclusive has no freedom
No..

that shit looks nearly as dumb as sekiro's """"""""""""""""grappling hook"""""""""""""""""""""""

Megaman X version where you slide down on the wall instead of timed jumps

But isnt that the same as 1? Do you mean the part in Dutchmans Graveyard where you jump against the moving sails?

2 isn't walljumping, it's fucking climbing

neither this mechanic is ass

ACKTSHUALLY

Metroid fusion
Super Metroid
Metroid Prime 2

>he jumps vertically while climbing

He has a pretty robust game engine to show for it. Then he gave up on the game because he got indoctrinated by the sjw indie scene.

In rock climbing that's called a dino

Three is making fun of Metroid Prime 3. Also, 1 is best

Only 1 is acceptable. There shouldn't be a discussion about this

4. Exact same as 3 but walls are exactly so far as to let you descend without getting death by fall.
I have seen this exactly once.

oh you're right, I was thinking of the etecoons and the promo vid that only show you the wall to wall walljump. It's been so long I forgot.

I wish more 3D plattformers with walljumps like pic related.

>hey bro how are we gonna climb this 90 degree wall
>oh bro just dino up it 3 times in a row

A combination of 1 and 2, where one is easier and gives more height but 2 allows you to find some secrets/skips.

the one where you are totally free to do either 1 or 2, like megaman x, mega man zero or super metroid.

also nice thinly veiled sekiro thread

2 can feel incredibly satisfying. Though really the who game have to be built around fast paced movement for it to make sense.

I feel like 1 tends to often fall into the same pitfall as 3 where it feels less like a dynamic enjoyable way to quickly move around the level and more just like a kinda annoying time waster used to pad out the length of the level. Kinda like back and forth moving platforms or rock pushing puzzles.

>1
>jump off wall, onto wall, then off again to continuously gain height
>2
>jump off wall, onto wall, then off again to continuously gain height

You mean air dashing? Pretty sure that's a fairly common feature.

2. Megaman a best.

You joke but a lot of climbing gyms will have at least one or two routes like that.

3d games are mainly dominated by big budget studios, who don't put maximum fun in their games, good luck with that

Map name?

actually its dyno because its short for dynamic, (as opposed to static) and it's not necessarily vertical.

Play Prince of Persia

Also, that said, if given the choose 1 is obviously more fun option to do, but I was talking more about what type of freedom of movement a game has. Obviously if the game had 2 you would still use 1 a lot. You just have the added bonus of 2.

Yo Noid 2 was kind of like this.

Nigga, rock climbers go up overhangs 90 degrees is nothing

2 is nice in Hollow knight because overall the movement is really fun

>play Warframe
>has some of the best movement of any third person shooter I've played
>game never really does anything with it and instead just plays like a generic MMO because it's easier to sell weapons with higher numbers than fun gameplay

Such a damn shame. If Warframe was a P2P game it could have been the best run and gun game on the market.

I'm guessing 1 can be done at any wall while 3 is context sensitive only. Like Metroid Prime 2

broham's tower or tower by broham. I made it 10 years ago and only uploaded it to the forums, but it got included in the big map pack back then. So good luck finding it.

>plays like a generic MMO
Please show me an mmo that plays like warframe because I would love to have that gameplay with actual endgame.

Google says this game was released in 2017, is it unfinished or feature thin or something?

Thanks, I'll go look for it.

It has less features than lugaru, the first game. The guy just slapped 1.0 on a build and called it a day.

>Metroid Fusion
>Metroid Zero Mission
>Metroid Other M

Sekiro has walls like example 3.

Is the only difference between 1 and 3 that 1 is better at hiding how linear its platforming sections are?

I was using hyperbole if you couldn't tell. As a way of saying the game is entirely focused on grinding higher numbers instead of fun gameplay centered around the amazing free-form movement system.

God I miss Firefall, that game had so much potential as an MMO that was actually fun to play and they just threw it all down the river.

Fairly sure he didn't even work on it the last year or so and just let some other randoms finish it for him.

I hate games that have underrated gameplay mechanics that never have been used.

Attached: rope jump.jpg (350x262, 112K)

1 or 2 depending on the camera
1 is an actual mechanic with a little bit of skill involved
3 is a QTE where you hit the button and win like Sly TiT

2 was only ever good in GunZ.

One where you can do both but they work differently in different situations.
Also add that little delayed backflip that Sekiro can do, that shit is orgasmic.

I bought this game expecting a platformer. It's not. All platforming is done by QTE with no freedom of movement. It's a cinematic game, not one with good gameplay. One of very few games I have flat out dropped before completion.

This is correct. Worth playing, but nothing fantastic.

Mirror's Edge?
