Engineer is a hard team support class that offers area denial with his sentry gun. With good building placements and the ability to work with your team when the other team pushes you should be able to shut down the enemy team 8/10 times. Have your dispenser in a place where you and your team can use it, and for the love of god upgrade your fucking teleporter
David Wood
Get a few kills with your sentry then move it. Sometimes just wait and ambush with with your shotgun as they will be focused on your sentry.
Jaxson Morales
I do all of that, I always build teleporters and make sure they're at the very least level 2 even if I'm in a hurry. I make dispensers in the frontline to help teammates as well. Doesn't matter, it all goes to shit because they have a medic, two demos, and a soldier who just annihilate everything and get an uber every 40 seconds.
>short circuit The new short circuit is good to get out of spawn but it just costs too much metal now to be used elsewhere. But I don't know, maybe I haven't understood how it works properly.
I can't make wrangler work at all either
Xavier Cooper
This A soldier was on a roof sniping my mini, little did he know I was already behind him with my shotgun ready
Henry Lewis
its a team based game. If you aint got a team, doesn't matter what you pick. Still gonna get- "you fail, booooooooo"
Luis Hall
Not necessarily, yeah teamwork is a big part of some games but there are plenty of times when one or two player carry an entire time to victory
Engineer is flat out broken on certain maps where multiple Engis can set up sentries in such a way that they look at each other and also the objective while not being clustered ( example dustbowl )
Anyone have that image of a Red Engineer surrounded by Blu Spies all disguised as his team members?
Carson Ortiz
If you are pretty forward as an engineer, know when to run. If you see a fucking uber coming and your team is AWOL, grab your dispenser and book it. You can rebuild him. We have the technology. And never give up. The more you build, the more you'll see what works and what doesn't. Use your shotgun.

Sometime you just need a little less gun.
Jayden Phillips
i suggest you dont play this class. go medic, you can never go wrong with that or demoman
Liam Bell
Unironically this. I've gotten way more kills than I ever should as an Engineer simply because the enemy doesn't think that an Engineer will fight back Based ugleh poster
>you will never know the source of this why you do this to me, bros
Luke Morgan
If a Soldier is peeking your sentry then shoot the nigga with a shotgun People underestimate it for every class in general but it is an EXTREMELY good gun, especially for Soldiers and Pyros
Angel Flores
why does engie have to scream at the top of his lungs that he's moving up?
>simply because the enemy doesn't think that an Engineer will fight back That's true of a lot of class but Sniper, play as Spy, Engineer or Medic and people will usually run straight at you thinking you are an easy kill without considering that those classes main weapon (revolver, shotgun and seringue gun) are deadly at close range.
Noah Davis
PACKIN' UP!
Ian Smith
To let the teammates know he's moving his gear up, thus suggesting they should cover him because if he dies, so does the building he's carrying.

I'm not sure if pocket medic with soldier, pocket with demo, or pocket with pyro is more infuriating, to be honest. Uber is what makes phlog fucking garbage aids, though
Joseph Nguyen
True, but I'd try my best if I'm currently a Pyro.
Gabriel James
Still hate how Valve ruined the Degreaser. It's like they're forcing us to be stock or be a W+M1 mouthbreather with the Backburner or Phlog.
It will just be 14 minutes of hardcore gay porn, with a liquid filled bucket labeled "unneeded buffs" being tipped over into the medic, if he wants to make it accurate

>Yeah bro, one person can totally carry your team to victory This is how you end up hating the game, and your teammates all the time. You play the best you can, try to improve yourself, and if its not enough to win. Don't beat yourself up. >inb4 shitter If you ever carried your team in a gameyou know the feeling. Theres a part of you that just looks down on them
Its its online videogames. Chances are while your sweating your ass of trying to win, someone on your team is playing pyro with a steering wheel.
I'm always trying my best to be a pybro but it just never works >engi is setting up in risky spot >stock flamethrower to airblast projectiles >spend entire game defending nest >literally nothing happens for fucking 15 minutes >I'm like 10 seconds away from the spawnroom I could go grab my Homewrecker in case of spy >do that >come back >sentry is nuked >dispenser and TP are sapped >engi backstabbed >entire team is dead
Shotgun for Engie: The Bounty Hunter Works just like stock shotgun, but gives 5% damage vulnerability while out. Every kill it gets grants a bounty, and up to 4 can be held. For every bounty held, holder gets 5% more damage vulnerability while gun is drawn. If an enemy with heads stored is killed, you take their heads as bounties, and they get your bounties as heads if they kill you. Taunt to cash in a bounty and drop a maximum ammo box and a maximum health kit right in front you.

Why knock off sappers when you can deter the spy from placing them to begin with? Why push stickies away when you can just delete them?
Henry Thompson
Fuck he found me I was disguised! Votekick him he's using a wallhack!
As far comp? lmaono Decent players know what they are doing and they have their ears open in a 10v10 game and common knowledge just says that there will at least be one engie on the other team; that means they will be looking in those good sentry spots. If you have a good team, I'd place in those good spots as you don't have to be jerking around wildly all the time looking for spys, snipers, roamers, and other nonsense. If you have a bad team, either switch to a play maker class or place your sentry in stupid spots (never in the same spot) and only upgrade it to level 2, equip the frontier justice and become a nomad engie, making you unpredictable and lethal.
David Lopez
Don't put sentries in obvious choke points, but also not so out of the way that nobody runs into it. People will more easily fall for sentries they won't expect. Also move your sentries around. Keep them guessing.
It's like the taunt to eat the Sandvich or other lunchbox items. It'd be pretty great to drop when you need metal or just to drop preemptively, to run back to the health when you need it, etc.
Charles Sullivan
>Chances are while your sweating your ass of trying to win, someone on your team is playing pyro with a steering wheel. or with his feet

>play on and off for years with no performance issues >come back today and have regular freezes for 3+ seconds
All three syringe guns now reload when holstered and the projectiles shoot faster, to now be exactly half as fast as the crossbow bolt. Optionally, thy could grant some Uber for every few hits. Also they should be reflectable and not count as bullets for things like the Pain Train and Vaccinator. I'd also like if they brought back the old idea for the Blutsauger and made it just cover enemies in Mad Milk. If they could make that work, then just make it completely disable regeneration while drawn. And buff the Overdose to make it better for retreating by granting a 2 seconds of speed-boost on hit. Keep the current Uber-based speed increase, too, and just drop damage further, by 50 or 60%.

Yes players are generally smarter at killing sentries these days
Mostly because people have been playing for years and there's less free to plays then there used to be.
Abuse wrangler shield and teleport your sentry away with rescue ranger as a last resort to keep that gun alive or set it up to a new spot to catch players off guard
>Herp derp I'm so much higher IQ because I switch to axetinguisher during what is effectively a W+M1 Nigga just position yourself behind them with the Backburner and flank them And use the fucking shotgun

Reminder that your sentry is not meant to be at the frontline, but rather behind it to punish enemies who over-extend. A focused sentry is a dead sentry, and getting a sense for when your frontline is moving forward or being pushed back is invaluable.

>full restock anytime you want It is. It would make gunslinger fags even more annoying to deal with, you'd go behind some wall and be ready to shit out another set of minis on top of getting hp back. Why do you think it takes so much time for engi to set up any kind of healing? On similar note, why do you think widowmaker works purely on damage done and not on kills?
If you wanna go ultra pro you equip the resque ranger, wrangler and any melee but the gunslinger, also the pipboy. Build a sentry in a spot where there are no enemies but no walls inbetween you and the active battlescene. Sentryjump towards the battle, resque your sentry and place it somewhere behind the enemies where they can't see it easily. Hide on the other side and use your resque ranger to shit on soldiers trying to destroy your sentry. This works like 2/5 times.

Annihilating conga lines with pills and watching them screech
How does any of that dispute the fact that you can carry in TF2?
Ian Taylor
It's not 2000 hours, but it's not 50, either. So, that guy thought it was underpowered, and you think it's overpowered. If it's either, I think some simple changes to its core mechanic could be tweaked. I really like the idea of head-taking weapons, and so far there are 4 of them (With the Vita-Saw, which sort of counts). If it's under powered, shorten the taunt time, or increase its base damage a bit, who knows. If it's overpowered, increase the taunt time. I figure it'd take a bit longer than it takes Heavy to eat his Sandvich, as is, but it could be lengthened. Or increase the damage vulnerability base, or increase how much is gained with bounties, or both. Or make it double the damage vulnerability while cashing in a bounty, or make you have to choose between health or ammo when cashing in, or make you drop health on kill for the enemy to take. There are dozens of possibilities, but the core idea sounds really nice.
>Playing Thundermountain >I'm apparently the only man in TF2 who likes it >Get autobalanced THREE times in the last round >Start in attack, get shoved in defense, then back in attack, then back in defense >I can hear the screams of my ex-ex-ex-teammates 15 seconds before the countdown end as I airblast them off the final point >Win

Joseph Bailey
I fucking love this video, every element of it, the script, the editing, visual and music choice are so godlike, and out of this world.
Melee weapons are literally useless 99% of the time for most classes. Changing your primary so your melee wouldn't be completely useless was a great choice. But making it deal 200 dmg in less then a second was a stupid idea
Alexander Perry
Arguing whether either mobility is superior to the other is stupid. While rocket jumping provides more raw speed and height, scout's mobility comes at no self-damaging penalty and has more moment-to-moment benefits during a fight. Both classes have great mobility that excels in different scenarios respectively.
Joseph Peterson
Playing Engineer properly is generally either boring or frustrating. It's only fun when you goof around antagonizing the enemy with silly sentries but usually that means you're not helping your team all that much.
Isaac Sanchez
>tfw they're going to listen to comp fags and remove wrangler shield
>comp boogeyman Do you actually think they give a fuck about the wrangler? If anything that nerf would be made for disorganized casual games.
Ryder Perez
I'm just messing around. Most classes in TF2 are satisfying just to move around, whether it's Scout with his speed and double jump, Soldier with rocket jump, Demo with sticky jump, all classes being able to coast on explosions specially Medic for quick getaways. But I do tend to default to Scout when playing just because it's fun to be an annoying little cunt that runs circles around everyone while laughing about how much they suck.
A game balanced around comp isn't a game balanced around almost every player of game. Companies need to realise this. You can't have fun if ridiculously skilled or rare mechanics don't give you satisfying instakills cause the tiny proscene knows how to do it. If you want to balance it to pros, remove anyone but solly, demo, medic and scout. Fun game you got there
Jayden Smith
Are you actually playing PC TF2 with controllers? Please post gameplay footage.
They would need to update the game for that to happen.
Sebastian Foster
I don't have any footage, but perhaps I could try to record some. I actually really like motion aiming because unlike a mouse, there's effectively zero friction, and it feels way more natural than you'd expect it to if you haven't tried it.

Anthony Campbell
I'd probably put CasualTF2 up to a C-tier if I remade it. His TF2 in 2016 video was 10/10.
Liam Scott
But it's only 10% while holding the gun with 1 bounty, and 25% with maximum bounties. I think it's not a huge downside for what's not a huge upside, but it's interesting, and could allow you to much more quickly upgrade a sentry in a case where you'd otherwise need to wait ages for ammo to respawn or for your dispenser to fill you up, and you could also heal yourself, or your teammates. And a Texan bounty-hunting is a good concept.
Luke Allen
>defending the point as full engineers team >to counter us they pick full heavies >to stop them with had to resort to full demomen >push team so hard with the grenade spamming they got spawncamped Best game I had in a long time.
Kayden Gutierrez
i dont even play engineer and corner peeking desperately needs to be removed. the solution to sentries has always been to either out range them or uber through it. being able to just corner peek a poor engy and there's NOTHING he can do because he has no hope of actually beating a soldier or demoman with the shotgun is absurd.
also teleporters should become immune to sappers for a few seconds after one is removed, to prevent permasap from spawn shit.
William Ortiz
present your idea for removing map geometry
Brandon Peterson
>be at max bounties >get one shot by a stray direct pipe, or literally any soldier turning a corner into you
Eh. I don't really agree. But if they added the sentries keeping their view on where an enemy just peeked for a few seconds, to destroy impatient peekers and make the rest waste time, I wouldn't be particularly upset.
Noah Martinez
Make sentries start aiming preemtively when the game predicts an incoming corner peek.
Hunter Perez
don't need to remove map geometry. make sentry target acquisition and firing near instant, and/or allow it to target players who are partially concealed by geometry (basically instead of always firing center mass it fires at whatever part it can see)
Isaiah Harris
>see high-IQ explosion class main trying to corner peek my sentry >walk the other way around >pull out frontier justice >stand behind him and wait
>moving around with your shotgun out while you have bounties You're just asking for pain. Unless you're killing someone or cashing in, keep that gun holstered.
Dylan Walker
>make sentry target acquisition and firing near instant That is horrendous design, go back to Overwatch if you want sentries that broken >allow it to target players who are partially concealed by geometry It already does this, sometimes for fun I sit where a sentry fires at me but can't hit me just to waste all its ammo and annoy the engineer
these issues with corner peeking sound like they can be solved by having a team or not positioning your buildings like shit
Carter Green
how do you even get into this game in 2019? I find it pretty appealing but playing vs people is fucking impossible, getting a kill is a full-on achievement for me.
Ayden Jenkins

>get no crits because every class in the game can corner peek and your sentry has no kills >or do get crits and get smacked by 2 rocket/stickies to intsant death because they both do more damage quicker, doesnt matter
the reason it wastes ammo is because its firing center mass not at what it can see
no, they really cant.
Jaxson Clark
Pick maps/game modes that are more popular among brainlets and won't have as many tryhards. I usually see more people with 10k+ kill weapons on koth and cp. Are you playing specific classes, or all of them? Soldier and heavy arguably have pretty low skill floors compared to some others.
Colton Powell
You can't really peak effectively if someone else is attacking you.
thats why you kill the person attacking you and then peek.
John Scott
>I usually see more people with 10k+ kill weapons on koth and cp. I swear I saw a guy with 240,000+ kills on his sniper on badwater. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. Why do people hate Banana Bay so much? Is there some fatal flaw in it's design that i'm not aware of or is it because it isn't hightower so you can't do le epic rocket jumps?

I've never had one good game on Standin. You and a few other people go to A, spend 1 minute capping the point with no other enemies around. You leave to go and take B, but B just got capped by your team, so you head to C which is in their control. By the time you get to C, no one's there, and they're capping A and B.
It's a garbage map design where you never encounter enemies for minutes at a time. I'll give it credit for the accurate name, though. Standin - because you'll be standin around doing nothing 90% of the time.
The latter user. Maps aren’t worth playing if you can’t so something a niche group of retards wants to
Chase Hill
I don't get it either. It was fun to play after everyone stopped focusing on the contracts. Actually led to some fun rocket jumping kills since players expected enemies to drop down from above but didn't expect soldier jumping from below.
Brody Hill
I hate Banana Bay for exactly the same reason I hate Hightower. If everyone that played Hightower religiously were to uninstall, the game would be 1000x better.

I debated moving CTF Well one step above, and Powerhouse has its problem with RED team having a slight advantage due to viewmodels being right-handed, but I still can't get enough of the 2 hour games where both teams are trying their hearts out.
Brody Kelly

Killing “friendlies”.
Nicholas Harris
Hydro was a really cool concept in theory. PvZ Garden Warfare made it work
your sentry is not first line of defense you retard you put it behind the front line to punish overextending enemies.
Owen Morris
It's a neat idea, but ultimately, it's the same reason I don't care for Gravel Pit that much. I don't like maps that split the control points up so far away. It always creates lapses in gameplay where you can't really leave your position, and if you do, they'll have swapped places with you already by the time you got there.
Tyler Carter
Best way to mitigate this is having 2 engineers build teleporters to and from A and B
David Ortiz
At least people actually try to cap in Banana Bay and you don't get retards telling you to stop it.
Michael Sullivan
Hydro would have worked better if each sectors had several paths instead of one for each segment. It's near impossible to play because you are at the mercy of the defense at all time since there's really only one way to go for most of the game.
Owen Ward
I love the map, first map I brought a stamp for. But there are a few issues. >map is too open, so you never feel safe. Flanks upon flanks. >once you push your cart past the water, you must then push the cart past the entire enemy base and onto the train tracks and WAIT for a train to pass through. This means lots of spawncamping. >carts pass right by each other at the start. Most PLR maps do this but on this map it's compounded because it goes right through mid. Every healthpack in the map can be accessed from mid very easily, especially if you're solider or scout. This leads to pure deathmatch. It's still a very fun map, though. And I think it looks pretty good.
I disagree with you there. And think that swapping is very fun. The biggest issue I have with Standin is that people who join it are used to 5CP and don't realize that there's no overtime on the points, and try to cap an enemy point while the enemy is capping our only point, instead of defending it. It really should be with the alternate gamemodes.
Kevin Ward
Coupled with the fact that it can’t work in quickplay
Maybe when a better game comes out. Which will never happen.

I've always wanted something for Pyro based around Pyrosharking. While the Gas Passer's gas should obviously make enemies properly wet, it'd also be cool if the jetpack increased movement speed in the water or something. It's currently pretty mediocre, so it'd be a small buff for a fun playstyle.
Christopher Gutierrez
post more jermakino. i've only seen a couple, one was gold and one was boring. i don't want to have to wade through all the shit.
Logan Carter
I've seen better creative content for sure. S tier is too much, he's overrated
Julian Harris
Perfection source?
Luis Bailey
Join us, pardner. You get to play the game this way
Connor Young
Gunslinger is horrible against competent players now that it's been nerfed. Fuck no.
Kayden Hernandez
Lets assume they took the best parts of a MOBA (which was just character ability's and cool downs) . They did not translate well into a FPS, let alone one with 6v6 on small maps.
Eli Cook
They could add just a small stat for being in the water. It's not like most maps even have water.
Evan Rivera
Yeah, so it'd be a very small buff usually, but very useful while Pyrosharking. It'd just be nice.
Jace Rivera
>just be unable to stop pushes bro! no thanks
Carson Lewis
>started training with the direct hit last month JESUS this thing is SO fucking underrated
Liam Wood
I don't know. Maybe up the weapon switch speed a shit ton so they work as a decent panic button? I don't think they'll ever make me switch from the crossbow.
Eli Davis
I'm giving you pity (You)'s, gotta step up your shitposting, dude, way too obvious.
Christopher Martinez
If they just reloaded while holstered, they'd be a much better panic button.
Michael Allen
>Pyroshark: 10% movement speed while in water It would make pyrosharks properly scary.
In many maps your sentry is basically just there to give you a chance to fall back so you can maintain teleporters and dispensers. You should also have teammates that take advantage of peekers being distracted, as well as making sure they only get a chance to peek after having engaged in combat, so if they fuck up and stick out a bit too far the sentry finishes them off, or the engineer does.
Aaron Perry
why would I need to get gud if I can just play soldier and pubstomp everything
Hudson Moore
Your sentry going down is not that big a deal. If they're destroying it and not getting stalled in the least, either you're magically always getting bad teams or you're putting it in poor positions so your team can't play around it effectively.
Jose Gutierrez
>play engineer >glued to a single spot You are legitimately a terrible engineer. You are playing him wrong, get a rescue ranger or gunslinger and stop being dumb.
Parker Diaz
Well then you can just play soldier, but this was about wanting to play engineer?
Dominic Gray
I just got kicked by some nigger for being afk like an hour into a match because I took 3 seconds to look at my other screen I hope it was none of you faggots
>switch to engi >put down a tele entrance and fuck off to build my nest >get my sentry to level 3 >go back to my tele to upgrade >see random engi upgrading it to level 3 and changing class Best fucking feel ever. Whoever does this, I hope they find happiness in life.
The best feeling in tf2 is running around fucking annihilating everyone as a four-head halfknight. An even better feeling is killing a 4+ head demoknight and taking all his heads for yourself.
I always do that. >See engie setting up >Switch to engie to help >He switches off to another class >Now I feel like I have to stay as engie >5 seconds left for the round to start >Have nothing built >"user, you're a terrible engie"
>fight demoknight >he charges at me >hit him with the loose cannon >immediately runs away >this happens multiple times in the game pussy ass bitch, stay still and die
>faggot demoknight keeps killing retarded snipers and racks on heads >comes charging at me from the other side of the map >manage to connect 4 pipes in his stupid fucking face >"what the fuck why did you do that" every time
Nowadays? Recently I've gotten into Mordhau, pretty awesome game. Also got into Quake Champions for a while. Just finished Chex Quest 3 and am playing through Icewind Dale.
Whatever makes you feel better, user. Laughing won't magically make TF2 not shit.
>33 years and telling people what to play on an anonymous cantonese stone carving imageboard

Connor Hughes
I hope my fellow posters ITT will ignore and report shitposts like this in TF2 threads. Every single thread has a dozen posts about >playing TF2 in 2019, and it's just shitposting and spamming.
Remember as engie you're only as good as your team is, if you're an unmovable object by yourself then the enemy team is terrible in comparison. No matter how good is any player with a brain can destroy their sentry by themselves if they know how to, sometimes all it takes is a coordinated effort between a spy with a sapper and a direct hit soldier or a demoman.
Rescue Ranger and wrangler are the optimal way to go but it will not do shit if your team is trash so don't be afraid to change to stock shotgun to stand a better chance.
>soldier in my team talking mad shit after getting a dom in a pub why are people like this?

Sure it is my fault that for W + M1 Scouts 4 Snipers and 4 Spies While the opposition works like a fucking clockwork with watertight engie nests and Ubers every 30 seconds.
Yea Forums, will videogame trailers ever again reach heights like the Meet The Team trailers? It's been 6 years, and watching Meet The Medic still makes me clench my fists in excitement.
>join koth_harvest >at least 3 to 4 scout mains on the enemy team >go engie with stock shotgun/pistol/mini sentry >watch their numbers decrease and there's barely anyone still playing scout next round
>Valve actually does something that isn't poking csgo or dota with a stick >game starts attracting more people The whole "work on what you want" made them too gluttonous.
Josiah Mitchell
It didn't even last that long. A few days and it went back down to 44k. Nobody cares enough about TF2 anymore to stick around. It's old news, and it wasn't even that great to begin with.

Having nighttime versions of daytime maps, and vice-versa, would seem to me to breathe new life and variety into the game without much work. I would play the shit out of a daytime version of Doublecross.
It's not even that bad. TF2 was one of the last games valve made that do not require new content to survive, if that were the case the game would had died even before jungle inferno, all the core gameplay is already there. The community already got used to fend for themselves.
Now compare it with Overwatch where if blizzard were to suddenly stop the already delayed content schedule the game balance would die since they fuck with heroes that weren't in need of a rebalance in the first place.
TF2 is far from dying, the last 2 content patches we had with the skeleton crew broke player count numbers. And even if it "dies" it wouldn't be any different with the many years we have already gone through with modern valve.
If you watch clips on youtube you see default skin players who stand still and turn the entire character a second after they see you, and you can literally just walk behind them to avoid being shot. and somehow these shitters make it to top 2 and the streamer just gets the free win.
But I'm constantly getting my shit pushed in by fuckers sniping me across the map and building 5 story towers in a split second
I hope Epic pushes Valve's shit in, Valve are really seriously fucking up and dropping the ball on every single aspect of their service (pricing, customer support, curating new releases, moderating their games, supplying new updates, listening to player feedback, talking to their customers and community). This huge massive cheater wave of bots is ridiculous, their anti-cheat system is paper thin and frankly I have to say that if this shit was happening in a game like Fortnite, they'd have been able to ban and fix the cheat exploit within a day or two. That this is Valve, ostensibly the biggest video game company on the PC, speaks literal volumes about their inability to care or fix their glaring shit
Isaac Scott
>nerf the amby >but broken shit like this is fine thanks valve
if they put even the most minimal amount of effort in they could have easily fixed it so bots can't flood chat so you can explain to people who needs to be kicked. also stopping them from fucking with their names.

Im going to strangle this TF2 Thread with it's own frilly anus
>join random 2fort server >RR level 3 onto the top of the covered bridge and commence spawncamping faggotry for at least 15 minutes >team members join in and enemy team begins bitching in chat

Adam Butler
>sniper repeatedly getting headshots throughout the match >Team points this out and instances where they'd be at his side and still get headshot >predictably he stops doing anything when anyone points this out >try to votekick him >never works because the votekick system is a joke Valve made to make people think there was gonna be any semblance of order in a game they don't work on anymore >sniper leaves probably because he's done recording his gameplay for his epic cringe compilation
Similar story, few days ago >playing with a friend on dustbowl in casual >guy on our team says "wow, what kind of bitch uses a health-pack in a 1v1?" >when the other person didn't agree to 1v1 >when there wasn't a duel on >when we're on dustbowl, not a deathmatcher's map like tower or teufart >me and another guy tell him it's a team game >he says something like "shutup, noone likes you" >being nihlistic and having a dark sense of humour, I sense an opportunity >start votekick against him >almost instantly passes
Anyways: I feel like when I play as engi, whether I'm successful or get stomped is more based on the teams than myself in particular. Like, I often top the leaderboard as engi in casuals, and it's probably my best class. But my performance feels independent of myself.
I guess that this is kind of inevitable in an objective-based choke-holdy 12v12 game though, and I don't really dislike it It's one of the reasons I think random crits should be melee only though
Brayden Evans
>Watch mr paladin >people just jump backwards onto his knife
>play spy >get absolutely fucked by every class except for the facestab on a scout. >People spin 180 mid-fight and crit me as soon as I decloak
Positioning is key with spy but after 4 deaths I just go solly and shoot the floor.
>Engie setup a nest in the sewers, on the bridge, or even somehow on top of the bridge without anyone noticing >Soldier treating the map like it's Hightower >Pyro's spamming scorch shot like they're snipers >Soldier spamming cow mangler like they're snipers >someone's using aimbot again >someone's using wallhacks again
The map is so old and untouched and badly designed that everyone acts like a shithead to get any sort of fun out of it anymore
David Ramirez
>medic and scout are charging uber in spawn >matador the medic right as he leaves the respawn >Big Earner so I get the fuck away from the enemy team >get insta killed by all of his teammates anyways I dont give a shit, I saved the match and I got salt from the fucking dildo medic in pink
I can't understand how you guys can play this character? What do you guys do to get better

Remember to switch to engineer and help your engie upgrade his tele and buildings during setup
Takes like 3 seconds and saves a ton for both of you later

I use the diamond back and cloak and dagger
Don't bother using the DR, almost no one falls for that anymore. If a spy walks forward and dies then most will either just start shooting everywhere or become more aware of their surroundings since they know you aren't dead Don't bother using red tape either unless you want to be annoying and waste an engies metal.
Luke Jones
How far do I have to be in order to decloak without anyone hearing it?
Oliver Walker
no idea honestly, it's also very random on whether they'll even hear the footsteps too
Oliver Russell
if at any time you play spy and your goal isnt kill the enemy medic and die or get away, you're doing it wrong.

Jordan Cook
That's how I do it
btw I use the spicicle It's suppose to help get rid of pyro's but it's actually fucking useless since it just alerts pyro's that you're there and you never have enough time to run away anywhere because they would have to have been near you for it's affects on pyro's too work Plus it leaves ice sculptures which tells everyone "There's a spy creepin' around here"
Ayden Robinson
Thanks I will keep this in mind (when I die horribly to a pyro)

being able to play offensive engineer separates the good engies from the bad
Joshua Johnson
>Playing 2fort >manage to sneak into intel room as Engie >Drop teleporter exit >Set up Sentry and Dispenser >Soon have Medic, Heavy, and Demo helping guard the other team's intel room >mfw

>Engy problem is that he simply cant defend his sentry >tf2 balance is a mess Engineer totally can defend his Sentry, he has a Shotgun and enough Metal to tank it for quite some time.
Your complaint is actually "Engineer can't keep his Sentry alive for literally forever." And that's because if he could do that the game would be fucking broken.
Blake Brooks
Man I just cant put my head around what draws people to Overwatch. Every time I've watched it becomes even more clear how bad it is. >Comically ovesized weapons cover like 70% of the screen >Gameplay is dull as dishwater because anytime someone actually tries to push everyone else just spams Q as quickly as possible ending in a stalemate >Half of the Hero's are completely shit and not worth using if you actually want to win >Blizzard is retarded and bans players over genuinely harmless banter
What, you play prem-level medic, do you? b4nny is one of the longest-playing tf2 competitive players who's won something stupid like 6 tf2 invite games in a row and has well over 16,000 hours in the game

Sentries are not good on their own against experienced players, because mobility is such an important aspect of the game. To make up the gap, you have to git gud with the engineer himself. You can't just babysit your buildings the entire game.
Owen Clark
The Engineer player has to play the game for hours to happen upon ~8 enemy players who can't figure out how to easily kill him, which is the only way he's gonna get that footage But he's not a bad class, the criteria for being a good class is "can compete with soldier", which is only Scout and Demoman.
Dominic Turner
>the criteria for being a good class is "can compete with soldier", which is only Scout and Demoman. Sniper can compete with Soldier though. Sometimes Heavy, too. Also, Medic is a good class despite not being able to compete with Soldier in direct combat. In fact, he's the most important and vital class of all.
Jose Watson
Yeah I know you need a medic, but he's an exception >Sniper can compete with soldier though Rocket jumps behind you, dead >Sometimes Heavy, too If he has a medic up his ass and only then at low-skill play, Soldier seriously has no excuse to die to heavy with his DPS and mobility, only a retard is gonna walk into a spun up heavy and try to tank it when he can just fly away and spam rockets
Aaron Allen
>Rocket jumps behind you, dead Sniper can head/bodyshot you out of midair. It's a skill matchup. >Soldier seriously has no excuse to die to heavy with his DPS and mobility, only a retard is gonna walk into a spun up heavy and try to tank it when he can just fly away and spam rockets It's an objective based game. If Heavy is on defense, or pushing a payload, Heavy has the advantage over Soldier. If it was some kind of deathmatch game then sure Soldier could play chasey all he wants, but situationally Heavy can just sit on a payload getting heals and mow down any Soldier that thinks about getting close.
Juan Peterson
Why the Star hate? He just plays TF2 used to, most of his videos are just gameplay. Is it because he was popular?
Brandon Cook
he's a drama queen. I'm a lazy bastard but another user will probably elaborate.
Dominic Johnson
I've never found his TF2 content to be amazing. Anything combo'ed with Star is great, better than Jerma and Star alone. I really like all his other content though, maybe people are just letting that influence them?
Thomas Williams
>he's a drama queen Vaguely aware of it because browsing Yea Forums, but if you just watch the vids, that's not a thing so I don't really care.
Gabriel Murphy
Jerma is funny when playing TF2, but funny playing anything else as well
If you sat Uncle Dane or whoever and had him play any other game they would put you to sleep i.e. what happened with Funke and STAR
Eli Watson
Not that user, but when he quit making TF2 videos he later went on to vocally reject the community that made him have any semblance of popularity in the first place, so that's why people don't like him. And in retrospect, most of his videos that didn't involve Jerma were just whining commentary over pubstomping.
Jayden Brown
>placing turrets with shotgun guy what a fucking casual

It's a zoomer list. Fixed the ones I actually know. Stabby belongs higher than F. Paladin, wherever he is, belongs lower than F. Raja belongs far lower for not making videos at all any more, and Red Robot's channel is also dead. Skymin Slash should be one tier higher. Once you get past the "haha hi guize im a GURL who play TFTWO" the channel has decent analysis I tend to agree with. GermanPeter should also be a tier higher for good analysis/still making videos, and ArraySeven a tier lower for his channel giving shit advice for a long period of time. Uncle Dane goes in Tier B for being too Reddit and would be lower if it wasn't for his production quality. HiGPS goes in tier C for constantly pumping out tf2 videos for however fucking long with no gimmicks and not overdoing the commentary. Worms goes on there for being a legend, only at tier A rather than S for not making videos for too long.
Fuck me, Paladin's logo is apparently the second one. Pretend I put him in F. I don't follow tf2bers on twitter because that would be stupid, but are you talking sperging because of artstyle or because of virtue signaling
What do you have against Mr Paladin? He isn't the best spy but he never claims to be unlike 90% of spy mains. Plus he isn't a total weeb so there's that.

That's what I've seen of his channel over the last 8 years I've been playing. A MUCH better question to ask is why anyone would ever bother putting him in fucking A tier. Even leave out the negatives and nothing really stands out about his channel.
Jeremiah Morales
>>lenny bind spammer, I've been watching his videos for a good while and I've only seen one lenny bind. Hardly a "spammer". Also the rest of that point is wrong because he consistently says "shouldn't have done that" or "went a bit too far".
Parker Nelson
Ok my white knight friend, that settles it. we'll put him in S+ tier.

engie isn't complicated, the reason why so many people struggle with him is that they don't understand that sentries are temporary roadblocks for the enemy team not a brick wall that will stay up the entire round. just let it go. when your gun goes down don't run in swinging your wrench like a retard. grab your dispenser, walk away, and get ready on the next point.
engie who over commits and dies with his nest < engie who has a full nest setup at EVERY point and is a constant nuisance to the enemy team
I mean shit I thought people figured this out after lazypurple's video. You can't get emotional as engineer your shit WILL get blown up eventually. play passive, pay attention to the killfeed, and when you think your team is about to get their shit pushed in get out.
outside of that the only thing I recommend learning is jag effect rollout so you're always ready when the gates open. three loadouts I've had the most success with
Easy >Crossbow heals are applied over time at the same speed as the medigun >Syringe guns reload passively and do a flat 12 damage Crossbow still works as a source of long range healing but it can no longer burst heal and turn the tide of a fight and syringe guns are actually viable as weapons now. Overdose doesn't need to be touched, the medic speed buff needs to be reverted. Blutsauger is a meme and I don't really know how you could improve it. It's fun as is and not atrociously bad so I wouldn't touch it.

I personally go for a less meta strategy than all of these combined. I play mostly pl maps like upward and goldrush, and choke points are plenty available there. Lots of places to hide, and as long as you place your one sentry on a corner where it'll grab at least one kill, you can deny a cart push easily.
Usually using this loadout: >Frontier Justice >Stock >Jag You'd place a sentry at a very cheeky place to grab one or two light classes off of a quickly-built level 3 sentry, stay out of sight from Blues pushing the cart until they reach your gun and take it down, leaving them injured enough for you to swoop in behind them and take out either their medic or soldier and deny the push before eventually either dying to a stray sniper bullet or going back to the point and rebuilding that sentry you lost to level 3 in less than a minute. It's the most fun i've ever had playing engineer, and it's one of the reasons why i've gotten myself an aussie version of the shotgun.
Alexander Clark
if you're going to be playing disposable sentry guns you might as well just use minis. frontier justice is fine I just prefer the consistency of stock.
Leo Scott
Use the Wrangler
Grayson Morris
>grant "tells the tranny to speak in their normal voice and stop pretending to sound like a 12 year old girl" vincent
Matthew Fisher
Minis can be taken out easily and offer little to no DPS or tankiness as opposed to the power of level 2-3 sentry guns. Jag makes it easier to just place another one down immediately thereafter. It means in pubs that I can take out a soldier or a demo if they are careless and like to jump far ahead. On CP/Koth/5CP/AD/MVM yes. PL no.
Jace Diaz
use kunai next time m8
The point of the DR is to use it as an escape tool in a gun-spy loadout. Or at least that was the point before the nerf made it shit.
The problem with Spy is that he has terrible damage per minute. In the same time that Spy gets a kill, another class would have gotten 5 kills.
Not him but the only way for a Heavy to kill a Soldier is if the Soldier is out of position, AKA if he commits a mistake. Now that doesn't mean Heavy serves no purpose: he will still scare away the Soldier from the area he is defending. He just will never kill him if both players are at the best potentail of their classes in terms of skill.
Ian Turner
Speaking of my strange cave-dwelling, cliff-mongering, sewer-swimming engineer style. Anyone else like using the Ol' Geezer to meme on "Engy mains" that think they're the smartest motherfuckers on the planet for playing with the wrangler?
>Minis can be taken out easily and offer little to no DPS or tankiness as opposed to the power of level 2-3 sentry guns obviously but they don't require time to build and you can hide them in props and bushes a lot easier than a level 1 or 2. the biggest downside with regular sentry guns is they start at 1 hp so you always have to build them out of view or a scout can just pistol it from across the map to blow it up while I can drop minis while I'm walking around and not worry about it. the dps isn't important when they're just serving as a distraction while you shoot at the target
Luke Martinez
Woah why all the dislikes?
Hudson Rogers
>Not him but the only way for a Heavy to kill a Soldier is if the Soldier is out of position, AKA if he commits a mistake. >Now that doesn't mean Heavy serves no purpose: he will still scare away the Soldier from the area he is defending. He just will never kill him if both players are at the best potentail of their classes in terms of skill. Well exactly, that's why I'm saying situationally Soldier and Heavy go toe-to-toe. If Heavy is on a defensive side or has a payload to defend, or sometimes even is being moved to a KOTH point, it's not like he can ever catch Soldier to kill him, but he can definitely sit on the objective until he wins or a stalemate is declared.
Luis Butler
>Not him but the only way for a Heavy to kill a Soldier is if the Soldier is out of position, AKA if he commits a mistake. Heavy is a defense class, any time you are defending you should be bringing him out because soldier cannot contest heavy who is holding a strong position. If the soldier has to come to you he's fucked. For example the cliff on badwater first, there is no way to safely approach it without having to fight the heavy head on. on offense scout is a much better soldier counter but he still has a niche when you need a lot of firepower for a last push or something or when you have multiple soldiers constantly bombing into you.

Not that many but it might just be people who thought it actually was LazyPurple or people's whose minds weren't expanded after watching the video.
Right but teammates are a thing and Heavy always loses to focus fire. Also I'm pretty sure a soldier peeking, firing a rocket, and going back to cover can kill a Heavy on a payload if there's no medic around.

The goal is to shut down a cart push right before the point, not to be a nuisance to heavies and soldiers in the front lines. People will notice you in their deathcams, watch you pull out the FJ and deny the final push as the enemy med's uber gets dropped. and the demo popped in the back of the neck with two crit rounds. Autistic LP fanboys not knowing what satire is.

>The goal is to shut down a cart push right before the point then why not just turtle with regular sentries, doesn't make a whole lot of sense. wrangled level 3 requires an uber to take down in almost every situation.
>watch you pull out the FJ and deny the final push as the enemy med's uber gets dropped a lot of things have to go right for that to happen, why not just play sniper if you want to be a pick class? you have 125 health and no mobility, the enemy team has to be incredibly bad to fall for this.

>Right but teammates are a thing and Heavy always loses to focus fire. If other people are focus firing the Heavy, then they are not firing on the Heavy's teammates, who are then free to fire on them. >Also I'm pretty sure a soldier peeking, firing a rocket, and going back to cover can kill a Heavy on a payload One rocket popping in and out isn't going to deal a whole lot of damage, can be potentially be dodged by the heavy if it's a far engage range, and if it's a close engage range the heavy can get some fairly serious damage on the soldier in the time he pops in and out. Which means Soldier and his 200HP is going to get chipped down and he may need to leave to find a health pack himself at some point before he can exhaust Heavy's 300HP, too. It really comes down to how accurate the Soldier is, where the Heavy positions himself on the Payload (eg if he's behind it he can force the Soldier out into the open), and how far the Soldier is from the Payload.
Heavy can just keep firing at the doorway the Soldier's coming out of forever as well and thus maintain constant damage ramp-up, because he has an endless ammo source.

two words: direct hit
Colton Baker
>sits around corner and waits because you have no splash damage
>has to peek all the way out right in front of my minigun to hit me 500dps vs 140 damage rocket who wins
Luis Torres
It's a slight downgrade to stock which is why you don't see soldiers running it often in either serious or casual formats. That teleporter-wide splash means you can't actually damage a Heavy without having a direct firing angle on him. Which means you have to come out of cover to shoot a Heavy hiding behind a Payload for example, giving him plenty of time to shoot you.
oh what, I thought we were talking about a heavy on the payload
Lincoln Sanchez
I wasn't that guy but then the same point still applies heavy can just hug the payload and force you to walk up since you have no splash damage while heavy can shoot over the cart
