They aren't disliked, they're just niche.
Not really casual friendly and the presentation usually isn't enough for modern gamers. Despite crawlers generally having amazing art and great character class customization most people want an RPG that's like a mindless bedtime story they can just listen to
Because people have terrible tastes.
Is the game on your pic Labyrinth of Refrain?
Only trannies like dungeon crawlers
what game?
Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk. Good game but I’m a brainlet so it was pretty tough for me. Just keep stacking xp and grind like a mofo.
Yes
Sapes can't into blobbers

Why aren't there any horror dungeon crawlers?
>fighting her at lvl 50
oh no no no no
probably has 99 SL with a bullshit ezmode skill combinations
pretty sure dark souls is very well liked
Crawlers are 99% gameplay AND turn based, that's asking too much of Yea Forums.
/thread
Most of them are bad and don't try to improve the genre
Because you're not paying attention. Mary Skelter.
>Why aren't there any horror dungeon crawlers?
Death Mark, but it's terrible
>Posts a horrible game that is filled with imbalance
>Asks why people hate that garbage
Sakura Dungeon actually managed to be one of the best dungeon crawlers from the gen, because it kept things simple.
>supposed to be a cripple
>clearly has both legs
This really annoyed me, but not as much as her being used goods
I get where you're coming from, but not falling for a raven-eyed big titty witch is pretty gay user.
Wizardry-style ones aside they're really boring.
What's wrong with Death Mark? Besides the fact that it isn't really a dungeon crawler.
>Death Mark
Isn't that a VN?
Personally I found it very easy and cheap
Reusing locations for a game that already has very small maps and no voice acting really soured the experience
I've been trying to find some discounted vita and switch japanese drpgs. I have a couple questions for yall.
How is Moero Chronicle? Any difference between vita and switch? Is there a good rpg under the fanservice?
I don't know about Mary Skelter is it good? I'll probably wait for the Switch collection.
Yeah, that's fair enough.
They're not. Labyrinth of Refrain has very bad gameplay though. I'm playing it right now but I've decided to drop it. Etrian Odyssey is still easily the king.
Pretty much every dungeon crawler is filled with silly amounts of imbalance really
> entire party gets beheaded in 1 move
I’ll pass
I thought it was a first-person point-n-click adventure like Shadowgate
How's DG2?
How is it imbalanced?
Also
>Etrian Odyssey
Yeah, I'm not gonna draw my own map
mary skelter is really generic, art is good tho
It's a good game, but the story is not as good as DG1
When the first post is also the best post
Just Tiltowait first dude
One of her legs is a shitty prosthetic.
>planning your progress
>units can't become good at everything
>can't savescum
>gear and stats requires management
it's literally too complicated for the average clown wagie.
Should I play Etrian Odyssey Nexus or Dungeon Travelers 2 next anons? I really enjoy class based ones and would happily take other recommendations as well.
I like crawlers with a bigger focus on the character/party. I can't get into shit like Refrain with an army sized group. Actually, I hate RPGs with huge parties in general. If there's no perma-death, there's no reason to have so many party members.
Give me a recommendation for a dungeon crawler on steam, I've always wanted to try them out but never found one that doesn't look like budget trash.
>mary skelter is really generic
Show me one more drpg with maps this gigantic yet completely empty
Emulate Strange Journey
First-person Dungeon Crawlers are inherently a low budget genre due to how niche they are.
That said, Stranger of Sword City has good art and is a good game, and then stuff like Ray Gigant looks cool but isn't super good.
Then you have Elminage Original/Gothic that looks awful but is so good it will fuck you in the ass and turn you into a real man.
Lucas smooth pristine cunny
Grimrock 1&2 are great unless you really really want turnbased/anime aesthetic.
>wanted to get SoSS
>definitive version releases around the same window
>is a vita exclusive
Yeah, it's bullshit.
Their new game Blue-Winged Chevalier is not only a Students of Round remake but also includes Stranger of Sword City Revisited. And it's a Vita exclusive.
Fuck I need to go back and finish Labyrinth of refrain. Stopped at the dungeon after the farm one.
They're extremely casual, the only "difficulty" comes from a deliberately slow grind that takes countless hours so your characters gear/stats are up to snuff against the enemies with their random chance instakill attacks and debilitating status effects.
holy shit, that seething
Man, I can't wait for the new Etrian when it comes to Switch hopefully they go all out. Only hope being the new persona Q game that uses the same engine probably.
>mildly push Dronya
>she starts shitting and vomiting
What was her problem?
Please respond
She's a pegleg loser
I wanted to make an horror mod in Legend of Grimrock 2, I wanted to port the creatures from Amnesia into the game, and then I realized I'm shit at computers so I gave up.
Its hard not to make them feel like Input Output The Game
Weebshit dungeon crawlers are a sin against God. This is what a REAL dungeon crawler looks like.
How's zanki zero?
you know what a sin against God is? Not choosing CHOOSE ME OR SUFFER
Only play nexus after playing all the other EO.
DT2 is great, but the forced grind in post-game is retarded, still one of my favorite .
>It's not that anyone dislikes them, it's just that nobody likes them
Censored
Any chance of an english southeast asain physical version?
Guy over here asking the important questions.
That's anime horror though, no scratch that, it's anime by the way of western fairy tale horror. I still like it though, but it's on the same level as a Tim Burton movie.
No character models or special attack animations. Enemes are mostly static as well but there are exceptions.
Like shit? no color? shitty UI? slow combat? Tolkien ripoff? autistic roleplaying?
If you want a CYOA adventure game go read a children's book and play with your fucking dolls.
Who are you quoting?
Not playing != not liking
People have genre preferences and whatnot
Play Wizardry 6, 7 and 8 if you dare.
After enjoying Menzoberranzan quite a bit, I decided to give the Ravenloft games a shot, as they're on sale right now.
Not really into Strahd's Possession, but holy shit, Stone Prophet is fucking awesome. Just the Egyptian themed dungeon crawler I was always looking for. It's also really easy to get into if you know a bit about AD&D 2E and use mouse movement by pressing spacebar.
They're all low effort trash
No clue, the game is still two months off (Mid July).
>No character models or special attack animations.
Thank god too, imagine having to sit through a bunch of animations every single combat for thousands of combat encounters. The only game I could go through that had them was Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land and only because I sped it up via emulation.
Thats actually a plus for me because i can play them on my shitty laptop while in bed.
Is there any actual porn in labyrinth of refrain?
well not shit sherlock, the pic in OP post is literaly a porn game
Some female enemies have visible nipples
visible nipples are not considered pornographic in civilized parts of the world
Any roguelite dungeon crawlers?
Pokies I guess, because CERO wouldn't have any of that otherwise.
Isn't that almost all of them? I got one in a humble bundle called Tangledeep, seemed alright.
Shiren the Wanderer
PMD
You must have played the secret version the devs have been keeping from us
>Weebshit dungeon crawlers are a sin against God.
it's sad but true
I was thinking something a little more JRPG like with lots of classes and skills. You get random parties and classes level up not characters
Tangledeep looks dope
Thanks
They're really not a game for children and even lots of adults and teens don't like them. I never liked them until I gave dungeon travelers 2 a fair chance and then I fell in love. But i also haven't played another one as good as it either so I kind of borked myself there. The switch and vita are perfect for them as well.
Are there any others on the switch besides LoR and Moe Chronicles whatever?
You know there is a state of mind called indifference.
Oversaturated. A lot of them are in first person view which is lazy and souless.
Imagine an Etrian Odessey with the same custominzation that the series is known for, but large sprawling dungeons with full models and animations for every character and monster. It worked for Dragon Quest. But alas not every studio has the budget to do that.
what fucking gameplay? it's literally just grind until your level is high enough to win.
Not in any good crawler its not
Africa is civilized?
Nah, full on tits hanging out
I think the enemy is called Berserker or something in Furfur's tower ;^)
I like 2D illustration way more than 3D models
What are good dungeon crawlers considering ive altready played all the m&m since the first and the one within the prison, i dont remember the name, and the sequel?
Is Etrian Odyssey still the only worthwhile one to play? I played one and it was real good and ive looked at the genre for other games, but they all seem like bootleg versions of that game series without the cartography aspect.
Yeah.
no innovation, its always the same game with a different coat of paint
i know one, its also porn
Is Steam version of Stranger of Sword City worth it? How gimped is it compared to Vita?
Currently playing EO4 but kinda getting bored with it after a few hours. The constant backtracking to refill TP is kinda annoying
Why are all the dungeon crawlers like the one in OP where you make your party out of generic characters? I'd rather have a fixed group of people that you pick your party from and have some story with them
check out ray gigant
They're okay, but the gameplay itself isn't all that interesting.
Because some people like creating their own characters and giving them their own personalities and stories. I would never play EO for example with what you described. There's a high amount of flexibility by offering multiple classes with multiple portraits. All you have is that portrait and it helps create that sort of attachment.
:(
Demon Gaze 2 has unique party members
SMT games do too, if that counts
Anybody remember/played the FATE series?
not a dungeon crawler
most crawlers I've played don't even have respawning mobs. games heavily focused on mazes and puzzles in addition to combat
Dungeon Traveller 2 has fixed group of people. 2-2 never ever tho.
>mash A to go through normal mobs
>got bashed by boss
I still don't know how I beat this game in the first place.
you're supposed to conserve TP, what's your team?
Aside from that first dungeon and the horrors of exploring...in a dungeon crawler? I'd say each dungeon has enemies that will rock you, while not giving proper experience.
fuck I need 2-2.
DT2 was the only other dungeon crawler with EO-quality.
Post some good dungeon crawlers, I want to get back into the genre again.
Played EO, Grimrock, some gba game with Eye of the Beholder in the title and a few more probably.
Preferably ones with interesting classes.
Also anyone played Elminage Gothic? I dropped it for some reason, thinking of getting back into that maybe.
Is Labrynth if Refrain any good? Sell me on this
Knight/tank/dancer/mage/healer
The healer is usually doing fuck all in battles which doesn't help but without a healer I have nothing to heal the backline with and the healing after battle is nice
What's the best dungeon crawler on PC (emulation included)?
invest in patch up, really good skill at the start
>Yeah, I'm not gonna draw my own map
Then turn on auto-map.
Is there some way to reset skills or do I have to grind a second character if I want a different skillset?
Mary Skelter is so fucking good
Why they are hated? Infinite grinding and no actual gameplay
Coven thread?
Is it worth it to get the stats boost or is it easy to get to 9999atk/def at max clarity? Also will the atk/def passive skills still work once I hit 9999 in both?
You can rest at the guildhall to reset your skill points.
>Dark Souls
>Not a dungeon crawler in all but setting at times.
You can play as Plenair in it. And she's half naked so you can almost see her cunny.
>modern dungeon crawlers
>grind
Is Zanki Zero any good?
Pretty solid but easy dungeon crawler. Nice artwork and fairly likable characters with an alright plot. Pretty blatant class imbalance where one class handily dominates the vast majority of the game, and another class only finally outdoes said class in postgame after a ton of grinding.
EO. There's still no Vita emulation right?
>played refrain when it came out on PC
>dropped it when VC4 came out
>never picked it up again
I didn't really like how many different characters and how much equipment I was juggling
Nope. It's censored.
>EO
Which one?
>There's still no Vita emulation right?
As far as I know, no
all of them.
What are the best ones?
>Mario
>Not an RPG where you roleplay as Mario
I honestly dislike the lack of animation in most of those blobbers.
Would you guys recommend Labyrinth of Refrain? Is it any good?
