wut wuuuuutttt

Attached: speccy.jpg (1010x682, 149K)

Just had this built a week ago.

Attached: speccy.jpg (660x525, 82K)

Ohh i like it, that seems like a good budget build. How much did you end up paying for everything?

>1080 with an Ivy Bridge and DDR3 RAM
YIIKES

Attached: btn.png (975x746, 49K)

Oh I know, I just haven't had enough money to buy a new mobo/RAM/processor

Understandable, upgrading my 4790 to a 2600X and my RAM to DDR4 3000. Also getting an SSD boot drive, new case and motherboard since my current one is ripped out of an old, disgusting Alienware.

About $1,100. Dunno why Speccy has the CPU as a 7700. It's actually a 9700K. I'm big into emulation and streaming, which is why I overkilled on the CPU and RAM while going relatively light on the GPU and monitor.

shit forgot pic

Attached: gd.png (500x436, 23K)

Meant to quote instead of myself.

Damn that's honestly a pretty dope price for that system, now i'm kinda surprised you managed to fit all that into the budget. Did you get anything used or on sale?

Yeah once you go SSD you never go back. It's where I keep all my most played games and boot at.

Don't get a 2600X imo, i made that mistake recently and kinda regret not waiting a few more months.
The Zen 2 CPUs are coming out soon and according to all leaks, they'll completely btfo Zen+ while staying at a very similar price point.

Monitor and tower were used. GPU was from some store owner on eBay who was offloading 1060s and 1660s at relatively cheap. I'm guessing the guy was either a failed crypto miner or trying to clear space for the 2000 series.

i3 8100
1050ti
2x4GB DDR4
Assrock H310 DGS
Seagate 2TB 7200 RPM
SB220Q Monitor 1080p, 75Hz.

I'm planning on upgrading to an i5 9600k when I start to have issues with the i3 8100, gonna upgrade to 16GB RAM, get a 1TB SSD, and upgrade to a 1660.

I built my first pc recently and I love it but I'm really kicking myself for only getting a 128gb SSD

sup

Attached: 20181117_182653.jpg (4032x3024, 3.88M)

I don't wanna give unsolicited advice, but i feel like that's a little poorly optimized. Would you like me to give you some ideas for something stronger within the same budget range?

its OK

Attached: 1556357670318.png (640x577, 76K)

Sure, why not.

I'm not switching to Ryzen though, that would be a totally different computer since the Motherboards aren't compatible with opposite brands.

Even after I upgraded my PC with all I could afford I'm still a stupid poorfag. Should I get better RAM, or a better GPU first? I mainly want to play DCS and Xplane.

Attached: JUST.png (551x576, 26K)

based and 3570k pilled.
I'm running the same cpu with a 290x since 2013.

Not sure if i should just build a new pc with an i7-8700k and 2080 or wait for zen 2 before building it.

Should I get a 9700k or a 2700x for 1440p and 144hz?

Is it just me getting bad luck or has gigabyte gone to shit lately? I got an Aorus 1080Ti last year and it thermal throttled even under 100% fan speed, but then I sent it back and got a strix 1080Ti and the temp difference is phenomenal. And now my Aorus z370 mobo is on the brink of death (2 of the USB ports died on me) and I’m getting a BSOD whenever I plug anything into one of the ports at the back so now I’m sending it back.

>that mobo
>9600k
You may not want to go with ryzen but please, at least consider getting an overclock capable mobo if you truly get a 9600k. The 1660 should be a decent graphics card though, not the best bang for buck but good. Also consider getting more ram, 8gb is starting to not be enough for modern games.

don't know why speccy doesn't accurately display ryzen temps, but here you go

Attached: shits melting brah.png (760x720, 62K)

new ryzen gonna be announced this month. wait until then

Whats the big deal with getting a SSD boot drive and a separate storage HDD?
Why not just get a big SSD drive?

pcpartpicker.com/list/gJQ3J8

Big SSD drives cost 100-200 Dollarydoos.

Guys my 6 year old computer is going to shit. Should I just upgrade the CPU and GPU or sell it for a pittance and get a new rig entirely?

Ahw well fuck, that was pretty much the idea i had, but i guess if you're not switching mother boards then pic related doesn't really apply.
Either way i'd say don't go for a 1 TB SSD, 500 is more than enough for Windows and a bunch of games, the pricing scales very poorly if you go higher.
Imo you'd gain more by grabbing a stronger GPU instead, 1660ti or 2060 are both much better while not being too much more expensive.

Attached: anons components.png (1459x524, 60K)

Because if you're rich, it doesn't matter. If you're a poorfag, you have to spend wisely to the point thinking about an HDD or SSD is a thing. Now the real question is what's a good HDD to get? SSD is running out of space and I didn't want Seagate Barracuda because people say they're shit and risking it isn't worth it.

what DDR3 G.SKILL ram should i get

>DDR3

Attached: 1473336767738.jpg (595x511, 36K)

You sure it's coming in a few more months?
The PS5 isn't coming out until next year, and that's reportedly using the same Zen 2 arch. I don't know if I can wait that long.

WD

I think you're better off just waiting since everything runs fine at 1080/60 with my build.

Kinda bummed about the 4gb rx580, but at the time it was cheaper than any 1060 and 570.

Attached: muh gaming peecee.png (715x450, 21K)

Yeah i'm pretty sure Zen 2 is supposed to come out mid 2019, which can't be much longer from now.

i want to build a good pc for gaming and make 3d stuff, what do you recommend? i have up to $2k saved

CPU oc to 5ghz and 2080 is 8gb obviously.

Attached: howdy.png (656x585, 28K)

3 years and going strong

Attached: specs.png (838x612, 40K)

>ryzen 2700 (overclocked to 4.0ghz)
>1070ti
>16 gigs of 2600MHz ram (with overclocking to 3000)
Aside from ram I don’t think I’ll be upgrading this any time soon. I barley use the 1070ti fully.

Would this be a good monitor if I'm aiming for 1440p, 60FPS? It's the only decent one I found on Amazon Cuckanada that's not filled to the brim with GAMER marketing.

amazon.ca/gp/product/B0749RC47S/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_5?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&th=1

Are... Are you not worried about those temperatures?

Attached: what.jpg (480x480, 31K)

Is this summer a good time to build a new rig
the last time i built one was fucking five years ago
i got a gaming laptop twoyears ago with similar or even better performance because it had a 1060 in it

i cant justify paying flagship prices for non-flagship video cards...

Attached: 1516774457793.jpg (540x876, 34K)

Rocking a 2014 build with just a GPU change to a 1080ti in March 2017.

Still see no reason to upgrade even while playing games at 4k.

Attached: sort of poor college student 12.jpg (3999x3238, 3.48M)

It's in Fahrenheit. 95 degrees F is 35 degrees C.

amd chads where we at?

Guys I want to overclock my computer, but I am a huge noob. Do I overclock the cpu or gpu or both?

You overclock the one that is bottlenecking you first

How can I tell?

First you have to delete system 32 before you can switch to overclocking mode. Is located in your windows folder.

ocing gpu is a bit easier because you can run tests real time while ocing it. With cpu you have to restart and go into bios everytime.

benchmarking software?

cost me $1500, not including the monitor

Attached: spics.jpg (721x591, 74K)

>Is located
Go back to dota Ivan

If I am bottlenecked by my cpu it won't do anything though, right?

>friend decided to fuck with his registry for some reason
>I have to go over and fix his shit
There goes my Sunday

I still have a 390 space heater that seems to be chugging along just fine.
Is there a reason for me to get a new graphics card any time soon if I don't really care about anything past 1080p?

Is this good? benchmark.unigine.com/heaven

Ryzen 2700x
GTX 1070
16 GB DDR3 3200

At least charge his dumb ass.

Well yeah but unless you play in 720p or really need that 400fps it's pretty hard to get cpu botlleneck.

How bad are ddr3 sticks for modern shit?

anyone who would help me suggest a set of parts to get?

Attached: tumblr_l9x70bqni81qztjn5o1_500.png (500x385, 214K)

I put this together a while ago, what do you guys think? Anything i should upgrade anytime soon?
(CPU is 2600X, idk why it doesn't show)

Attached: Unbenannt.png (540x371, 19K)

Why is my PC so loud? I cleared out the dust and still gets loud when I start playing vidya.

before you freak out, I have a fan controller that's plugged in to my cpu fan slot on my motherboard, and apparently that causes Speccy to lose it's shit on the cpu reading
if I launch speedfan, it says that it's -115 or something to that effect for the same reason

Attached: specy.jpg (657x476, 245K)

Because the fans are keeping your computer cool.

Do new AMD generations usually catch up to or beat out current Intel generations?

I wish I knew why my speccy doesn't recognize my i7-9700k. Whatever.

Attached: spec3340g.jpg (789x411, 120K)

>tfw will never have a -115 degrees pc

>1080ti in March 2017.
werent prices sky high then, or am i misremembering timeframes?

start here, it should give you a good idea

pc-builds.com/calculator/

>doesnt show
>doesnt recognize
How new are you guys we have this questions every single thread. It's because speccy is a piece of shit that barely works.

Seems like a bad idea to have all your ram on one stick.

please, explain. I got it on a 1/2 off deal

Maybe something like this? Came out to a little below 2100.
You can probably go for a cheaper CPU cooler and power supply if you want to.
But yeah this should give you an idea of what to shoot for.

Attached: anon build.png (1450x690, 88K)

I like my cpu. I upgraded from an fx 6350 and this ryzen cpu feels 1000x better. So if you don't want an intel cpu for whatever it's fine but wait for ryzen 2

the 2070 is probably overpriced but I'm worth it, and it was much better than the rx 480 4GB I upgraded from.

Attached: Speccy64_2019-05-11_22-42-10.png (629x565, 30K)

Either that or FurMark.

It's really fucking bad never buy single channel ram. You're losing even up to 50% fps

Attached: ram.jpg (1089x547, 82K)

Just if it goes bad then your system is unusable until you replace it versus having like 2x8GB where losing one still leaves you with 4GB to turn your computer on and get online to order a replacement.

i will use this for reference, thank you user

duel channel >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> single channel

You're welcome!
Just make sure the GPU actually fits into that case, i really like that case for its great airflow and cable management options, but the GPU space is a little limited.
So either get a version of the 2080 that fits in there or look for a different case.

the speccy temp scared me for a second there

Attached: Capture.png (1552x565, 227K)

my old PC has two sticks of 4GB. Would it help to slot one in?

well i can hold on the case and get the parts first and then later go find a case just to not take that risk

has to be identical sticks

get another stick or 2x8gb

16 jiggabits RAM POWER or 32 jiggabits?

If I have a 2700x and hardly do anything beyond play video games and very rarely do video editing do I have any reason to upgrade to zen 2?

Guys I think my computer is dying. This is before overclocking but still.

Also, you anons have been very nice, so thank you. Please have a laff at my shit rig

Attached: poorboy.png (583x702, 30K)

doesn't have to be "identical" sticks, they just have to be running at the same hz frequency and both be 4/8/16/etc gigs.

Nope

besides that, is the build all good? it's pushing out cold air when playing FFXV and I mainly wanted the P4000 to get more into OpenGL than gaming

I mean the measurements for all the cards and what fits into a case are all online, just look it up. No reason to make a gamble on this. lol

For gaming? Absolutely don't go above 16 GB right now, it would be completely wasted.
Just make sure to get actually good RAM instead, you don't want anything slower than dual channel DDR4 3000 mhz, ideally a bit more.

i'll be looking for other cases taking that into consideration, i don't look for a fancy one but airflow is high priority since i live in a very hot area i might have to buy a little fan just for the pc

i wonder what sort of tasks would require 32 gigs, mine is 16 and runs all perfectly fine

Mhm good luck user, just make sure to read up on reviews for whatever cases you're interested in buying, too many cases have weird issues that might not be immediately obvious.

What if you're one of those weirdos that keeps a browser with a gorillion tabs open that takes up 5gb of space

2080ti, i-9340 (whatever the fuck it is, an i-9, last digits are 400, 63GB RAM, 5tb SSD, backup 2tb SSD, 10 or 12 normal HD....no water cooler, thikning about a "water brick" for my 2080ti......bought a small intel "optane" drive to hopefully make the fucker startup a bit faster, yet to install it. 2 Bose speakers, i-bastersound card since I couldn't get the fucking sound to work without it. pretty shitty $380 motherboard after the $700 Asus kept fucking blowing out..

video rendering and the like, mostly

Mostly professional uses like video editing for example, 32 GB is considered the bare minimum in many industries.

I'd say get better browsing habits. lol
But if you don't wanna do that then yeah, maybe 32 GB is for you? It's just very expensive, so it's hard to recommend for anyone who doesn't absolutely need it.

lol, I have 63 GB running since I was too fucked up when I ordered it and didn't notice it...and it's good Corsair RAM too, not the shitty cheap one. I actually do notice a difference in certain things.

there is this one case i once look and liked a lot for its simplicity, i think it was a corsair black carbide but now i have to be more careful with dimensions and also read those reviews

then I'd say go to bed, Kevin
you've got work in the morning

Is tri channel a meme

what about 24 pieces of RAM POWER instead

i think tri channel only works on certain motherboard

Its so funny how different /g/ and Yea Forums are. /g/ shills Ryzen and Yea Forums shills Intel.

>is tri channel a meme
yes, because few motherboards have six ram slots

Oh yeah that's not a bad case. Personally i think the Carbide 270R is better than the 275R btw.
It has decent airflow as far as i'm aware, but also nothing super amazing, if very high airflow is important to you then you really want something with a mesh front, similar to the one i recommended in the parts list. (also make sure to buy some extra fans, Purewings 2 or Silentwings 3 fans are my personal recommendations)

Nah I snagged mine for retail 750USD.
But after that scalpers did raise prices.

Attached: video cards.jpg (1920x953, 402K)

When it comes to single core performance, the most important thing when gaymen, AMD always falls short of Intel. But Intel always focuses on single core performance whereas AMD's focus is on multi-core. That being said though, zen2 most likely will be around a 10% upgrade from the current chip generation.

>RAM
>if it goes bad
you have a much bigger chance of getting hit with a meteor

that's because /g/ doesn't give a shit about vidya
when it comes to single core processing power (which is still the deciding factor in more games than you'd think) intel is still in the lead
if you want to do anything that requires better multicore functionality, ryzen is the better way to go

>/g/ shills Ryzen and Yea Forums shills Intel.
don't think there's any question that Intel is objectively better for gaming. /g/ is just more concerned with security and with trying to get best value for money. But if you are a true gamingfag, the 2080ti is the best on market right now as far as GPU, no one who is being rational is going to object to that...

Updated recently. i had the old one for like 9 years. Really was about time.

Attached: specs_oldVnew.png (703x1195, 180K)

>you have a much bigger chance of getting hit with a meteor
Not really. The way I ended up with 63BG, 2 of the 16 I bought were not working, sent back to Corsair and they sent back 4 working 16GB by accident, they never questioned it, which tells me that people send back shit RAM that isn't working more often than people realize.

I know a dumb question but as someone completely new to windows after using Linux for the longest time, how do I open up my specs to get a photo of them?

They're using a program called "Speccy"; you'll need to download it first.

does msi have the problem where it can't properly throttle the gpu clock if you have the monitor set to 144 refresh rate?
I have to keep my monitor set to 60hz when not playing vidya otherwise my evga runs fully clocked and increases my idle temps

What's a good laptop that can run total war warhammer 2 i only want to play tw:wh2 and i dont really want to build a pc for one game also im a retard

>tfw got an RTX 2070 even though I only have a 1080p 60hz monitor
Should I upgrade to a 1440p 144hz monitor just so I’m at least taking advantage of the card?

I'm sorry user, you came to the wrong place
I can't give any specifics on which laptop is best for you, but your best bet is to look online and see which gaming laptops have the best cooling setup

look up Sager
ive been playing TW:WH2 on a Sager for 2 years, i like em

why do people still use speccy if it’s old and gives incorrect specs like video memory?

Bro if you don't wanna build a PC yourself, buy a prebuilt from one of those pages with configurators.
Some are fucked overpriced but others are fairly decent and either way you'll end up paying less for the same performance than you would with a laptop.

Unless you just need a laptop anyway, I wouldn't bother.
You'll be paying an excess of $1k just as the breakpoint of 'acceptable' performance.

If the only thing holding you back is building a pc, there's hundreds of guides on youtube, or unironically reddit's buildapc forum will help you as well.

Get yourself a zephyrus my man

if you have the money to spend, sure
I don't regret buying my 1440 monitor

There's no other program around that displays all your PC information like that, everything else is either just as inaccurate or doesn't display as much info on one page, for some reason.

Attached: Записати.png (639x577, 72K)

a ~32 inch 1440p monitor is basically playing a ~26inch 1080p monitor in terms of the size of the images displayed but you have much more screen to use and look at

RAM is kinda slow, 2400 mhz isn't great anymore.
Upgrading to 3200 or higher (if your motherboard supports it) could net you some extra fps, but it's not at all a high priority upgrade.

you look pretty good to me for a while
I'm sitting on my graphics card too, figure I'll upgrade on the next release cycle, maybe even the one after
my 980ti does everything I could want from it at the moment

Thank you.

If you have any real questions, ask them. As shady as /v can be sometimes I still trust them over some random at a refurbished radio shack with a new name.

>godspeed user.
thanks m,ate. here's to hoping europe goes back to normal in next 5-10 years and it is no longer even necessary, but I don't see how it can happen. I hope I'm wrong.

2gb GTX 860m, 8gb ram. Considering buying a new computer for Lost Alpha, since I get 20FPS

>If you have any real questions, ask them
you mean ask you dude? do you know a lot about the field? Not taking the piss, genuinely curious. If you mean too ask you, where do you see VR going in the next 4-5 years and is there anything on the horizon you see as genuinely new and different as far as VR technology?

This is a technical thread, do not make thinly veiled political comments.

Attached: 1557644724883.png (450x427, 21K)

Yeah i hope so as well, being a faggot in germany doesn't feel all that safe currently.
Either way, let's keep it on the subject of tech like said. lol

I didn't mean ask JUST me. I meant ask the thread, bring something that isn't a sentence mixed between capitals and lower case. Ask a legitimate question get a legitimate answer. As for VR, only a fool would buy into that.

pcpartpicker.com/list/gqckBb
I’m already happy with what I’ve got so far. I just need to know which Keyboard/Mouse combo would be the best for this build.

Also, what is your opinion on mothjerboards and how much difference they make? I had a ROG Rampage Extreme VI, but 2 of them blew out on me for different reasons, so finally I said "fuck it" anmnd got a cheaper one.
Also, what do you think about hooking up monitors with the C athunderbold able?? For excample, my 3080ti has a thuderbolt plug, my LG monitor has one, and my new (cheaper) motherboard has one rather thasn 2 like the other ROD Entrme VI.
I read that if you attach your monitor to the motherboard with a thunderboolt, then thuinderbolt to 2080 ti. then 2080 ti to monitor, you get much faster and better performance. Ever heard of this or is it just bullshit
'

>As for VR, only a fool would buy into that.
VR is getting really good, especially the porn. Not a lot of vidya but it's getting there.

Oh go fuck yourself, you pathetic shitbag looking for any possible fucking reason to be annoyed. That could be interteted however way anyone wants it to be, for example how fast 5 g noves to europe. Any idea where you are.

Not even kidding my computer is disturbingly similar to this, same Proc, MB, RAM, VC, etc.
Any questions you have about it?

Not bad at all, but you could save money on some things.
The PSU is wayyyy to powerful, that's the amount a multi GPU setup would use, not a budget build.
Also go for the Ripjaws V 3200 mhz 16 GB RAM, it's faster and cheaper.
Last thing i'd maybe change is going for the 2600X instead, it's almost 10% faster for only like $25 more.

In that aspect, yes, but in all others that the world values, no - else we would see more of it.

with this build i would focus on just SSD or cheaper HHD with 4 TB

Attached: bottleneck.png (1900x1002, 47K)

If you bring nothing to the thread, why are you here? Sleep, dude. Sleep.

You already have a SSD so 4TB HDD it is.

Huh, that’s funny, I could’ve sworn I change the PSU on that list.

Nah, RAM fluctuates so often during computer uptime for various things. Just keep an eye on speccy, or what ever you prefer, and update as necessary.

How's this for 1440p and 144hz? I'm not sure on the model of GPU, but I picked that because I heard factory overclocked Nvidia cards had better parts and could overclock even better than reference speed cards.
I think the PSU might be a little overkill but it's only $10 more than a 650w and I'd like to make sure it lasts a while.

Here's how i'd do that build, better performance for 150 dollars less.

don’t cheap out on the case lads
or if you do, make sure you really do your research and get a cheap one with good cable management/routing options and airflow (gamersnexus does some detailed cheapo case reviews)
i made the mistake of getting a shitty case thinking how the quality of a simple metal box shouldn’t affect much of anything and i think they’ve shortened the lifespan of my $1500 components enough with its awful airflow that i could have paid for a way better case with the money i lost from the downtime, fixing things and shipping cost of rma. also installation and cable management was living hell
shitty cases aren’t worth the trouble just like shitty psus

Is the Cooler Master H500 a good case? My card will run hot as shit

Get the Fractal Design Meshify C if your card fits in it, it costs about the same as that cooler master, but if you put some additional front intake fans inside of it, it has arguably the best thermals in that price range.

No, I'm a fucking American. And for you or anyone else to pretend that the world people saw in "Before Sunrise" still exists in Europe--where your biggest concern is the price of of a Euro-rail pass, rather than getting fucking blown up is not only disingenuous but outright foolhardy.
Ah, and there we go. You are gay. In a THREad ABOUT GAMES AND TECH, WHERE NO ONE ESP. CARES WHERE YOU DO OR DON'T STICK YOUR DICK OR NO ONE ASKED YOU, YOU JUST NEED TO STICK THAT IN THERE TO...SCORE VICTIMHOOD POINTS i GUESS?
Victimhood as the new currency. Inn a thread YOU started, correct, soliciting tech questions as re: to games and other uses for the tech one owns, and ergo why. Can never just keep it on topic.
"I'm gay..." Because everyone in the thread was anxiously wanting to know where some random user sticks his dick. you just could not WAIT to throw that in there. As if my beliefs are something totally unique and "bigoted." When the director of "Amile" is refused to make a sequel bc, and I quote exactly,
Paris is ugly now." His words. Well, what exactly made Paris "ugly?"
You started a thread just praying one ccooent even slightly edging toward un-pc so you could tell everyone "you are gay." Fucking amazing. For the first time on here in ~7 years I am genuinely "speechless."

Should I wait for the new Ryzen before upgrading?

Yeah if you can wait that long then do it. It's gonna be significant.

Zen 2 can't come soon enough, I'm hella CPU bottlenecked. Even at 1440p.

No but it's a good guess that it will be at least as good as current gen.
If we are lucky it's a 20-30% boost over current gen but that depends on many factors.

Been waiting for a thread like this, i have been a poor consolefag all my life but i finally got a job and managed to put together some eurobucks to buy a decent rig but since i am lonely isolated faggot with no friends i couldn't ask for advice.

This is what i managed to put together with my budget after doing some research

Ryzen 5 2600
16GB DDR4-3000
Saphire RX 580 8GB nitro
MSI B450 Tomahawk
A 1080p 1ms monitor

How long is this going to last me for?
I just want to play games in 1080p but i am afraid that devs will stop optimizing on pc for a few years when the next gen consoles release just like they did with the ps4bone in 2014 where they stopped optimizing to shill the consoles. I at least hope i'll be able to play pic related when it's out with this pc.

Pls respond

You should've waited a bit longer for Zen 2, that way you'd only have to worry about upgrading your GPU in 2-3 years, and not both your CPU *and* GPU.

Why would you bother purchasing a 2070 when you are still on an i-5 (my 6 year old macbook pro had an i-7) and on DDR 3 RAM at 799MHz

JEsus, this place is different from what it even was a few months ago, when you'd have been torn apart for "having someone else build" anything for you. Is your time really too valuable that you couldn't read a 50 page book and watch a 30 minute YT video (at most). I'm gonna guess not since you didn't exactly go for the highest end choices.
If you are GENUINE busy and have a very demanding job and...a wife and 4 kids, the to have a company like...Puget build it for you, I guess I understand. But I don't understand this one at all....

it's an i5 4690k desktop processor from 5 years ago(which is newer than the i7 and is also much more powerful since laptop processors are weaker). and the ram is displayed incorrectly, it's actually at 1600mhz

and desu, i only notice bottlenecks in really cpu heavy games like gta 5, cities skylines and arma 3(both of which i don't encounter any stutters in). i'm also running at 1440p to allievate bottlenecks

Sure i'm waiting for ryzen 3000 to come out, but in the meantime i'll probably just oc the processor and that's that.

Nothing special

I'm obsessing over my monitor's contrast ratio and brightness. Can anyone give me a comprehensive guide on properly calibrating your monitor? Already tried the windows app and the geforce settings and it somehow always ends up too bright or too dark.

I upgraded my GPU from a shitty R7 250 when I quit Dota and started playing other stuff again, not looking forward to the day when this i5 will start fucking me over since I'll have to change the MoBo and the RAM (which I should probably already change because single channel) as well.

Attached: niggerspecs.png (555x453, 26K)

Get a Xeon or 4770. The extra threads will help in 80% of the games that otherwise would run like shit on 4c4t. You can buy one for 100ish bucks and then sell your 4460 for maybe 40 or 50 bucks.

OH GOD SEND HELP

Guys should I let my new pc be assembled by a shop to get warranty on the whole thing ? Or should I just order the parts and build the thing myself?

In this case

My gypsy brothers in Romania are rating the 4770 at 200$ and the i5 at around 80$, I'd rather wait a year or two and upgrade everything (although ol' Intel might drop a new chipset by then so maybe I'm playing this stupidly).

So if i want to upgrade now, i just wait for the new amd cpu and gpu and then decide, right?

What the fuck man

>I'm obsessing over my monitor's contrast ratio and brightness. Can anyone give me a comprehensive guide on properly calibrating your monitor?
Search the monitor dude, and then go to "Tom's." They usually have a guide for TV's and for monitors. But then also, it's more art than science since it depends how close you are to a light source on your desk or whoever you have your monitor, etc...

>VP228HE was fucking up real bad

Attached: speccy.png (434x389, 19K)

Ignore the opened boxes, cartoon, and general shit around....any opinions on this just as a case? (YES, I know the room around it is a fucking mess and looks ike a trash dump, it's a room where I just dump all my recycling until ready to go out). What do you think of the CASE. It's class on all 4 sides, cost over $200.

Attached: 2glassecaseumjpg.jpg (4032x2268, 3.27M)

Romania is part of the EU right? Buy second hand from another country then, in Germany there's plenty of 4770 and Xeons for 90-120 Euro. Shipping shouldn't be much either. Afterwards sell your i5 and the upgrade was cheap. Buying a new CPU, MB and ram altogether is easily gonna cost you 400 if you buy Intel and just opt for a 9th gen i5, so upgrading to 8 threads just for now is gonna be alright for the price.
Yes. But keep in mind Ryzens run hotter than Intel and single threaded performance is always worse as well. As for GPUs, just get a used 1060 or 580 if you don't mind playing on 1080p and lower settings in the next few years. If you want 1080p/1440p at high settings get an RTX 2060 or used 1080. I doubt AMD will beat a used 1080's price/perf.

I think your room's pretty messy and not worth the $200 if you ask me. I'd maybe pay 20 bucks for your room but not a single cent more.

I plan on upgrading to Zen 2 when it comes out this summer.

Using a Xeon 1230v2 form 2012, and it's not cutting it anymore for modern emulation.

AMD claims that a ~$230 Zen 2 Ryzen will beat a i9 9900k

If the single core performance is good, it's going to be a major breakthrough in personal computing performance.

I mean there's a store for old used computer parts two minutes away from where I live and they had those neat 900p monitors for 40€, all I wanted was a second monitor for youtube vids while playing FTL and pdf files while doing ttrpgs on tabletop simulator
I wasn't going to buy the same monitor a second time when I was only half-satisfied with it, enough not to change it but not enough to get it a second time

meant for

Can't even see in this one...but there are two additional mismatched monitors in addition to ones already on that desk.....in retrospect, YES, would have made a lot more sense to get all the same ones, but I was trying to cater to my desire for something that would match a flight deck so I could practice at home for my pilot's license, which I'm taking lesson's in...

Attached: augrig3.jpg (1080x810, 67K)

I don't mind the mismatched monitors but the fucking cable management is something else. Nigger put all that shit together and pout it behind your monitors. You are going to move your leg too quickly one day and there's gonna be bits of computer and monitor all over the floor.

That's a fucking room I use to open all my shit I order and then save the boxes in case I decide on returning it. If anyone ever saw a full photo of that fucking room, they'd probably put me in the psych ward away for hoarding...

Anyone can recommend me some good $50 mid tower case?

you mean they refunded it, eve though they still delivered it? Be careful user, they're sly motherfuckers, do you know if they took a pic of it on your porch? did you buy it direct from amazon or through a contractor? If you're saying you think they're gonna give you your money back and they don't know, they odds of that are very, very low, they're sly motherfuckers. I hope you did get away it bc fuck those greedy scum, but your odds of that are very low since they take pics, make the delivery guy sign all kinds of shit (esp if the delivery is over $400), ect...
DO NOT spend the money yet thinking you got one over on them bc 99.999% they will fucking figure it out eventually. They are sly motherfuckers.

Of course, don't offer it back to them on the very, very small chance but I can just about promise you, they'll figure it out.

is that an i5-8400? how's it stack with a 2070?

get 2x8gb 3000 ram, get an ssd, get rid of the 570 and buy a high tier card and go for something like a 4k60fps monitor

Thing is i don't even play video game that much anymore, so i don't know what to do, my PSU is the Corsair TX550M, can it handled 2060 card?

too bad you gto some shit tn panel

Dunno, this actually isn't the first time it's happened to me. It was an order cancellation, but I still got the delivery email.

Should i just buy another 2x4gb ram? buying brand new 2x8gb seem like a waste of money

so i bought a rx 580 couple of months back and its already hitting 80+ degrees under load. I regret not buying the 1060.

yeah shouldn't be a problem at all
get 16gb ddr4 @ 3000+ if you're on ryzen

i have an i3 7100, 16gb ram and a 1060 6gb. i'm getting sub 60 frame drops a fair bit on games like MHW, DMC5 and Re2 remake. I'm a brainlet when it comes to PC parts and how they relate to games other than newer and more expensive = better performance. i'm assuming the its the i3 thats holding me back though. what would be the minimum I'd need to upgrade to to hit that steady 60+ fps with those games?

The future is now and it demands 16GB ram. Your 8GB isn't gonna keep up forever.

Already got 2x4gb ddr4 2666, so buy another of the same ram?

yeah the CPU is trashcan
i5-7600(k) is way better, get the i7-7700(k) if you want more performance

It happened to me dude around Christmas, and 3 or 3 days later they figured it out and I got an email saying "if it's not back in x days we are charging your card." I hope you did get one over on them because fuck amazon, but just keep in mind, Bezos didn't make 120 billion dollars by being a dumb fuck.

MHW is optimized like garbage, hence why they changed engines after only putting 2 or 3 games on it. Get some hardware monitoring software and see which of your components is capping out during gameplay.

get 2 sticks of the same kind or some shit, idk some nerd faggots told me its important

you want to get strong 3000 plus mghz or whatever it is sticks to make use of the strong cpu as amd apparently likes that

your cpu could literally be as half as strong and it could still use a gpu upgrade

either wait on new amd cards or get yourself an rtx 2070 or something to make full use of your cpu paired with a new monitor, unless you are poor

who tf plays pc games on medium -60 fps? (unless poor i guess lel)

But if i buy another 2x4gb i still got 16GB ram, so why buy brand new 16GB for what reason?

sure but keep in mind that faster ram with ryzen = more performance

I sold my 11 year old PC for 500 because it had a gtx 1060 installed. You'll find someone.

2666 is already fine with Ryzen, 3000 is overkill

>unless poor i guess lel
Well, i'm in australia and everything expensive here

Yeah it is, and I think it goes just fine, no real bottleneck, but I wish I got an i5-8600k instead. Oh well.

I'll just have to wait and see, because it's still in my budget if I do get an email.

Happy with my build, though Kiwami 2 is definitely punishing it at 4k.

Attached: Build.png (761x604, 44K)

Buying Ryzen is the biggest mistake of my life, shit do emulator like crap, not worth it unless you're a hipster

What do you all think of "overclocking" your CPU and your GPU and is it even worth the tradeoff you get in performance? I keep reading about about it, not sure if it's worth the effort. Also, pissed off as fuck about the goddam ASUS $700 motherboard (for which insurance only paid out $620) when the fucker gave out after 3 months. And if you read the reviews on amazon, I was far from the only one.

Both are worth overclocking, CPU more so.

Just bought this shit for 90 bucks, is it sugoi?

Attached: NH-D15 SE-AM4.jpg (800x600, 77K)

its just weird to have such a high cpu with such a low-mid tier gpu, thats all

Yyou faggots all have 16 GB Ram and seem to be happy with it. I have ~45 and I think it does make the fucker run faster. Also, thiknig about sticking an intel Octane in there on top of it just to make the fucker start up faster, but with my luck and my shitty battery the entire fucker would explode.

Probably the best air cooler you can buy, but it's fucking huge and you'll have a hell of a time actually putting it in. I hope you have a big enough case if you're looking to use both of those fans.

2700 is high tier cpu? i got it for like 200 bucks

moving from
>radeon r7 250 1gb
>athlon x4 750
>16gb ram 1600mhz
to
>rx 580 8gb
>ryzen 2600
>16gb ram 300mhz

how'd I do

>Both are worth overclocking, CPU more so.
Any advice on where to get the best info? Fucking amazon recently turned off my account for "review" after I disputed a...$30 charge witht hem over something I genuinely didn't fucking order, which sucks since I used to be able to get al the books I wanted to read on over clocking for free, now I wish I had DLed fucking all of them while I could.

I have the same one and it actually fit mid tower case, and you can remove one fan if it blocking your hugeass ram

user, I did say "if you're looking to use both of those fans".

9900k @ 5.1ghz all core
custom loop
1000watt Seasonic platinum PSU
2 RTX2080TI SLI
64GB at 4000mhz

get on my level poorfags

Its fine if your ram isn't the huge ass type with led and shit know

overclocking these days is pretty safe as long as you don't touch voltage
>Change base clock
did it crash before/during a benchmark?
>no
increase it again
>yes
go down a bit, double test to make sure it's stable.
that's the basic of the basics. Let other anons go into further detail and/or shit on me for my crappy explanation.

You sure love to make assumptions, don't you, user? I bought some g skill shit. It was the best price for what I was looking for. Unfortunately that good price came with high profile head spreaders. It's just a good thing the case I picked out happened to be roomy enough.

I brought a box of a case with no window because that shit's fucking stupid to me.

Why everything these days got rgb bullshit now, even the fucking cpu cooler, even the cheapest pc case vomiting rainbow n shit, disgusting

>9900k @ 5.1ghz all core
>custom loop
>1000watt Seasonic platinum PSU
>2 RTX2080TI SLI

Wait a second fuco...if I have a:
-9940
-1400 thermaltake battery
-64 Cosair Ram (have to get the exact speed but was the most expensive they sell

then all I'm missing is the SLI. so fuck it, will sell the gold CPU that cost me an arm and a ball and I can do a fucking triple SLI if I so desire...
I just keep hearing it doesn't even work on most fucking games....

Should i buy mid tower or full tower case if i want to put this shit in? intel stock cooler is fucking garbage

I can go to overclock.net and wait for a patient boomer cuck who will actually walk me through it........that or I can set up new amazon account on a VPN (which I plan to do anyway) and buy a new fucking account that will let me DL all those books I wanted for free....

If I try to push it past stock voltage things get fucky fast

Attached: 1534852141815.jpg (500x422, 35K)

Is Ram price lowering yet?

I fucking have this on my desk right now user, I literally would have gvien it to you for free had I known you. I, personally, think they suck and that you're far better off with a corsair "water"one but....it's just too fucking big and clumsy to fit on top of a motherboard.....

>CPU overclocked to 4.3GHz
>If I try to push it past stock voltage things get fucky fast
See, that's my fear....with my luck I'll do something goddam wrong and the entire thing will go up and short out my entire goddam rig...

>>your questions

So when exactly will video game graphics "stop"? it can't really be limitless, can it?

Which corsair water one is good for the same price of that noctua?

ever thought about a glass brick filled with water covering it just to make sure you keep the temps somewhat stable without the hassle of a fucking fan?

The tower case spec sheet usually includes cpu cooler height limits.

if you have a PO box and willing to write it here, I would.... a good corsair water one...how much did you pay for that? Just look up whatever model it is on amazon and they'll give you siggestions. Or, go to Pcpartpicker or....WTF is the site...mike's? Another option is to ask the boomer's on overclock.net, who usually know thier shit since they are "serious" hobbists and have been doing it for a long time.

I would just keep my PC in the tub if I could.

Look not so bad on ATX mobo.

Playable graphics are still far from maxed out, Toy Story 15 years ago or whenever it was still had better quality in some areas compared to modern games. Games do not come close to uncompressed models and textures that are used in 3D modeling programs either.
>Inb4 hardware becomes mandatory to be able to play games due to Jewism
Hardware is and was always mandatory to play games. You can't play anything without a CPU or GPU. You need at least an iGPU to get a videosignal from your PC and also to play games with it. I don't think there's a single game in 2019 that can be run in software only mode.

does SLI even matter in 2019
I kinda want to do a liquid cooled mini ITX build but im worried that ill just kill all my upgrade paths

You're going to have to buy one eventually.

I was gonna do it, had been saving to do it, then every i talked t told me "maybe 1 in 25 games make use of it if you're lucky..."

Recommendation: Sell it, get a Stadia membership.

I though the same think. Do you have amazon prime? If you have amazon rime and an ipad or even a regular computer you read books on, just read as many as it makes until you are comfortable with it. Only kind of trick part is the wiring, but again if you have amazon prime and any kind of tabelt they have free books on that too....

Yeah, that's about the state of it. You're really not going to get any benefit in the vast majority of games.

Use MSI Afterburner and RT to monitor your PC.

Why would Rotten Tomatoes monitor my PC?

This is true, for some odd reason Windows likes to cache on all the drives connected even though it should just do it on the one selected

It's not my fault the jap vidya reign supreme.
THAT SAID nuDoom with everything on ultra and 120-144 fps is pretty great.

Seems to be a problem with the interface

reading VNs at 240hz is great though

spotted the retard who never experience superior hz rate
option for you: kys

CAT!!!!
If you wanna go the used route you could opt for an i7 4770/4790 or a Xeon and a used 1080. A 1070 will do 1440p60 but not in every game if you wanna play on high settings, older games will work fine though. New idk really, I'd go for Ryzen 5 and an RTX 2060 if you can find it for cheap. It's usually only a little bit more expensive than a used 1080 but offers nearly similar performance.

Despite the fact VNs usually dynamically drop frame rate? The VN I always idle sits at like 4fps until you move the cursor through the menu and even then it only stays "high" while you're rapidly jerking it. The cursor that is..

not this again

The only supreme japanese genre is porn, everything else is trash. Fucking Skyrim is more of an RPG than any J"RPG" ever made.

Going from 30fps to 60 shaves off 16ms. Going from 60 to 120 only shaves off 8. Diminishing returns. I sure as shit wouldn't get into 144/120hz gaming, it's not worth it unless you're a "competitive" esports player or you're just retarded and think it makes you better in your little SP game.

Those games have more merit than any AAA game released in the last five years, because they are made to meet the demands of specific fanbase instead of being a generic cashgrab made to sell to the largest amount of people possible.

Ignore the temp speccy is retarded
For 1080p its still doing the job pretty well, bit louder then I would like, been thinking of upgrading but there isn't a particularly impressive offering yet, maybe if Navi is impressive or Nvidia starts slashing price sin response

new CPUs are affordable to me but GPUs aren't sadly, i can get myself a 2060 but i don't know how long that 6GB is gonna last
at the moment i can get a used i7 3770 from my friend (with a mobo ofc) but is it worth the hassle?

>le gaming meme
I notice the difference during desktop daily use and typing. 60hz is and always will be inferior garbage rate.
Even if you don't hit the 144 fps in some games, you will sure will be above higher than 60. Having a 120/144/240hz monitor gives you nothing but advantages you pathetic apologist. You don't need to be active e-sports gamer for that.
Besides that 144hz is dirt cheap. TL;DR you are wrong.

I don't see why you'd want to replace the GPU. If you must then go for the new rtx ones. I replaced my r9290 with rx580 and it has been extremely underwhelming for me so far.

Oh I am laffin', you can't even differentiate between single frames above 180fps anymore. Sure it'll still "feel" smoother, but at that point just use a 144hz screen and set your cap to 240 lmao.

Is it a good idea to buy a gpu that was previously used for mining and its guarantee will end next month? It's over 120€ cheaper than in webstores and he's been selling gpu since December with no one complaining at least. He mentions that he used it undervolted, 50% fan speed in a ventilated room. It's 1070 and I would needed it for max. 1-2 years, before I would upgrade my whole rig.

Ah yes, me spending a tenner on a game to get cosmetics is killing gaming. It possibly couldn't be the SWJ pandering or companies just making downright pisspoor decisions when it comes to monetizing their games.
>b-back in my day there were no DLC!

6GB will last a long while even at 1440p. And as I said you can always get a 1070 or 1080 and those will have 8GB if you're that in secure. Installing a new MB isn't worth it in my opinion.

>No intelligent response so he hates me cause of my trip

>3GB.
I'd say 4GB at least. 1060 3GB gets destroyed by Forza Horizon 4, BFV and Metro Exodus. And that's only gonna get worse.

Bought a 1070 a few months ago for a new rig I built. How many years will I probably get out of it before games go up in graphics again?

>because even trained fighter pilots can't see single frames past 180fps
you don't need training to see the difference between 60hz and higher
simply kys

4 at least. Mine still maxes out 1440p unless it's Ubi wank with their awful optimization. Plenty of headroom to drop non essential settings/resolution.

Attached: comfty.png (852x943, 43K)

I built my rig as a solid 1080p machine, don't plan on going higher resolutions. 4 years is perfect honestly but you think I have a shot at longer since I'm not pushing it to any higher resolution?

I haven't built a new PC in about 4 years. How did I do? It was a pretty low budget and I got the video card from someone who tried to get into mining and failed.

Attached: Specs.png (661x475, 36K)

Why would a CPU manufacture wait for a console to release their chips?

>fighter pilots can't see differences past 180fps
>"I can UHHH see the difference between 60 and 144 XDD"
Okay tard.

Yes.

Made this back in February. Ignore the CPU temp, speccy reads it really high for some reason. My motherboard bios and other programs read it around 30-35 degrees.

Attached: PC Specs.png (781x562, 34K)

A high chance especially if 1080p is your main stay. I just low ball since it's safer. After all we are at this stage hitting those diminishing returns.

>thus I can't notice the difference between 60 and 144

You ought to be trolling.

Is there any reason you put in so much ram? I feel like even 32GB would be way too much for this.

I don't need any additional heatsink or fans with this, right?

stop replying to me with irrelevant garbage

Not to mention 1 year ago ram prices were like doubled.
Based retard. Buy a used 580 or just get something better for slightly more. Also that MB is way too expensive.

Just make sure the heatsink and fan that comes with the CPU is actually good. Otherwise if your case has like two fans on it and you're not using it in an incredibly hot environment I'd say you'll be ok.

I have the same CPU and I slapped a Cooler Master Hyper 212 on there just to be sure. I'll be running VR stuff and apparently that can make things HOT.

Oof. I highly doubt it. I keep myself entertained trying to figure out what a 60hz brainlet has to say. Apparently still fucking nothing.
Kill yourself or you know buy a better monitor you worthless autist.

>imagine being at computer

It plays anything i throw at it fine enough for my tastes, but i wouldnt mind adding a dedicated GPU in the next couple months, any suggestion that are cheap?

Everyone's saying the Ryzen stock coolers are fine, and the case comes with two 120mm fans pre-installed.
>used
no thanks
>just get something better for slightly more
such as? A 1660 for €30 more? 1660Ti for €100 more?
>that MB is way too expensive
I was looking at the ASRock B450 Pro4 and MSI B450-A Pro for 80-90 bucks before, but /g/ told me those were trash and that the Tomahawk is worth the extra money.

i7 is clocked at 5ghz

CPU is a 2200G, no idea why it doesnt show in speccy, and RAm is 8GB, but it shows as 6 cause 2GB are dedicated to the iGPU

Why didn’t he back it up?

>unironically using a Ryzen

>should I buy a 1660 for 250 bucks or a 1060 for 120
>HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
also /g/ is retarded and only Linux fags go there anyway.
Retard.

the 6 cores one's are pretty good value t b h and currently with those meme games out it'll do the job unironically

I know it's overkill to have this much ram but I got the chips from a relative's apartment liquidation for 180€

also I use my PC more for 3D work than gaming and it comes in handy for performance on big projects

>a 1060 for 120

>The loop goes outside the chasis

>Just build a computer out of an optiplex bro
There are better ways to build a cheap PC bros, don't end up like me. At least she blazes through every game.

Yes you can find 580s and 1060s for 120 used, retard.
ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-sortierung:preis/seite:2/1060-6gb/k0
And that's Euro and not $. In the US you can find these even cheaper.

What am I looking at.

>used

Yes used you dumb faggot. If you buy them new for 180 or god forbid buy something like the 590 or 1660 you're actually braindead. PC components do not randomly die and their lifespan isn't just 3 years you dense faggot. CPUs literally last for 3 decades and OCing barely degrades them. By the time a CPU or GPU breaks you're 10 years behind and can't play any modern game with it anyway.

What kind of 144z monitor should I get? Looking for thin bezel and decent colors

That's a very nice story friend but I'm not buying electronics used.

>I have no idea how electronics work WAAAH I don't wanna buy used cause "no warranty"
It's especially funny cause warranties don't care about who owns the card, only who has the warranty card.

I don't care about that, user. I need my new pc to last me certainly 5 years, so I'm not buying anything tahat's not new.

Should i really upgrade? I recently upgraded my Mobo, it only supports 7th gen at max
Would it be a significant upgrade from 6700 to 7700?

Based not so smart person.

actually nevermind, you can add overclock in the advanced options which i have at 4,32Ghz
with that i have like 5-7% bottleneck
