Why would I care about the statue of some dude I never met?
fpbp
fuck your daddy issues
I thought Barrett's sub-plot was more heart-breaking desu.
>goes back to Corel
>Dyne, Marlene's dad and Barrett's friend has lived a hard life
>They fight, Barrett wins, Dyne tells him to keep taking care of Marlene, kills himself
>Aerith dies
WHY DONT THEY JUST USE A PHOENIX DOWN?
>Red XIII's father is petrified
WHY DONT THEY JUST USE A SOFT?
This game is just a fucking ripoff of Akira
Phoenix downs are for knocked out status you pleb
Phoenix down is for when they faint
Red XIII's dad was petrified for too long so it reached his internal organs and he ran out of oxygen
Idk make up a headcanon explanation faggot
I've seen people give phoenix down a watered down explanation of not really reviving someone from the dead, just waking them up from being unconscious like smelling salts. I tell those people they're retarded because when a party member is KO you can't cast offensive spells on them to do any further damage.
I think you might be clinically retarded.
That’s because you cant directly kill your bros
Oh, I get knocked out all the time when i'm hit by a spell called 'Death.'
Lifestream is literally fucking stolen from Akira.
Sephiroth/Jenova is stolen from Akira.
Aerith and The Ancients are stolen from Akira.
Bike scenes are stolen from Akira.
Midgar is stolen from Akira.
should I go on?
The do the wrinkly blue children represent in FF VII?
The Ancients.
How often are you hit by spells, user?
Phoenix downs is for ko'd people, not DEAD people you retard. Do you think people can put pokemon in a pokemon center machine and resurrect them in Pokemon too?
Well played.
I'm telling you man when I watched Akira it was a veil being lifted.
Chrono Trigger had the decency to just take the bike chase, but then FF7 is just creatively bankrupt.
I never cared about Aerith but this and Barret's story got me a bit emotional. Seto's theme really sets off the whole scene.
Well, i wasn't, it was just an example i phrased in a stupid way.
You're probably right that FF7 lifted a lot from Akira, but not everything that uses a bike in the future is a ripoff, you dumb faggot.
>Listening to Seto's story
>Nanaki realizing his father's turmoil
>MFW Seto starts crying
I was sad when Cait Sith died, then he came back a minute later.
Were you though?
Cait Siths death is a fake-out to double surprise you with Aeriths death.
Man fuck Cait Sith , I never used him because he was a dick and he sucks
>and he ran out of oxygen
but he's not dead
he cries
>yfw
I'm sorry to hear that you're a nigger.
>not using Cait Sith and Vincent against Hojo
Those two had very good reasons to hold a grudge against him, their dialogues make it even more special.
The sad music got me.
I got a little misty-eyed at Bugenhagen's death on disc 3.
>yfw Cloud recovers his memories
>yfw Cloud wanted to be a SOLDIER just to get Tifa's attention
>yfw Cloud was a regular grunt all this time, never made it into SOLDIER
>yfw Cloud defeats Sephiroth after he stabs him in the shoulder by throwing him into the mako reactor
>yfw Cloud kept his promise
That was the true defining moment of the game.
It's magic nigga I ain't gotta explain shit
>That bit where he started shedding crystalline tears
His death scene was fucking surreal. What even was the point of revealing he's just a doll BEFORE his "death"?
Using Vincent's monster form to end him is pretty poetic honestly.
Think about all the raw emotion in Cloud's true flashback of Nibelheim. Especially that moment on the walkway where the music swells right as Cloud hefts Sephiroth up by his own fucking sword and just tosses him over the railing.
Now think about that scene turned into an overblown scene with tons of anime action poses as Zack goes super saiyan while Cloud passes out. And then Genesis shows up to finish him off with a pretentious speech about love and death.
He's just there waiting for someone to use soft but no one does. He cries because his loved ones are idiots and won't try to save him.
>Now think about that scene turned into an overblown scene with tons of anime action poses as Zack goes super saiyan while Cloud passes out. And then Genesis shows up to finish him off with a pretentious speech about love and death.
What. I guess that's one of the sidegames? If so, so I can remember to ever touch it.
>Especially that moment on the walkway where the music swells right as Cloud hefts Sephiroth up by his own fucking sword and just tosses him over the railing.
youtu.be
Joke's on you, I think about this song every time I see news about FF7R, because I need something relaxing while I realize how fucking badly Square's about to ruin this game.
Crisis Core, you goddamned zoomer.
the thing that worries me most is how much everyone is comparing it to kingdom hearts because i don't really like kingdom hearts
>yfw Cloud wanted to be a SOLDIER just to get Tifa's attention
Cloud wanted to be a SOLDIER to be a cool guy like Sephiroth, not for that useless whore
Based illiterate retard.
I love that moment of levity when you get back on the airship and everyone's acting like the big man in charge is back, and Cloud has to reconcile that with the fact that he's just a regular dude who's been living in someone else's shadow for years. He just pulls himself up by his bootstraps and gets back to work, it's so great.
Cloud was such a fantastic character. It's been so painful over the years seeing him turned into generic anime man with no sense of humor.
PSP? I never had one. Fuck off with your braindead buzzwords.
Go play the game again.
This actually made me cry harder than Aeris's death.
Is there a bigger fag than Genesis?
>muh loveless
Genesis is the worst thing to happen to a Final Fantasy game. He's on the same level as that one faggot with the green kangaroo.
Didn't he say something along the lines of 'my friend, my town, my family, give it back's before actually dealing a lucky strike on seph
God I can't forgive Squeenix for ruining it
>durrr I've never heard of Crisis Core
What are you even doing in this thread? How fucking stupid are you?
Rick "The Stick" DelHagen is in FF7?
That's when he just stabs Sephiroth in the back, running him through so fucking hard that the sword breaks Jenova's casing on the other side. That was a great moment that was already ruined in Crisis Core.
Guess which director of Crisis Core is also the lead director of FF7R?
I had heard about Crisis Core. Like over a fucking decade ago. Don't get asspained because I didn't remember the name of a side game I never played from a console I never owned.
>when the ff7 theme hits
Some people told me that Crisis Core was a good game.
I couldn't forgive them.
If you were an actual fan of the series, you would've at least attempted to emulate a fucking sequel to FF7. But you're a filthy secondary, who is probably only in these threads because of the remake, so you can go fuck yourself.
>sequel
>it's really a prequel
>muh ff7
nigger i had the goddamn pre-order t shirt from sears and i didn't play crisis core, fuck off with your bullshit
Wait, Sears still existed when Crisis Core came out?
Where REAL men cried
pretty sure it did but i'm talking about the original ff7 release there were t-shirts with the logo on the front and character profiles on the back and i got the one with cloud it was great i really want to go back
>Now think about that scene turned into an overblown scene with tons of anime action poses as Zack goes super saiyan while Cloud passes out. And then Genesis shows up to finish him off with a pretentious speech about love and death.
That's why only FF7 is canon.
Nothing else.
>If you were an actual fan of the series
I have only played a couple FF games, I actually played FFVII for the first time like in October/November of last year so it's not like I had an actual interest in the whole FFVII-verse and according to the responses in this thread, seems I dodged a bullet with Crisis Core. But not like a screeching idiot like you cares.
Now can you please go have your autism diarrhea somewhere else? We were having a nice thread until you faggot began sperging out.
>going to war with fucking lions
What did Shinra mean by this?
The original game is so cringy and awkward with the low poly count and top down view. Hope the remake can actually get me to sympathize with what I'm seeing.
Based retard who has literally zero imagination.
Implication is that if all the party members get knocked out, they are killed--thus game over.
>You're a secondary for only playing the primary game.
Mcfucking kill yourself
He wasn't even AWARE of the secondary game, dipshit. Kill yourself.
Who are these people who keep registering me as a retard
Please try harder.
Advent Children is kind of a guilty pleasure, but that's more a fanservice movie than anything.
youtu.be
This part is gonna be fucking terrible in the remake. Less is more.
They're gonna have Zack hopping all over the place, backing Sephiroth in a corner, Sephiroth is gonna have to cast some super magic to counter and defeat him, Tifa will probably flop around Advent Children style too, before being defeated in a similar fashion.
Oh, and the reactor is gonna be as big as a football stadium.
Killed because they’re defenceless against enemies onslaught, because they’re knocked out.
I really hope we get a bit more dialogue in the E3 trailer, especially the first dialogue options with Barret and Tifa so we can at least hear more of Cloud's tone of voice. From there it might depend if the remake will remain faithful to the original.
I hope they actually end the trailer with Cloud with the dress.
yeah you get deathly tired and go to sleep
fuck
Not even the right game boyo
Oh I remember that scene from FFIV
FFVII is top Nobuo Uematsu.
>Now think about that scene turned into an overblown scene with tons of anime action poses as Zack goes super saiyan while Cloud passes out. And then Genesis shows up to finish him off with a pretentious speech about love and death.
This literally never fucking happened. Good job getting mad at scenarios you made up in your head, retard.
reading comprehension: 0/10
I forgot to reply to
You're retarded
I forget how old Red is supposed to be in the story but I find it kind of less poignant he's bitching about his ded dad when the guy's been alive for possibly centuries.
Radiata Stories had the elves do the same thing and it was kind of annoying they'd gladly slaughter the human race over something as trivial as the fact they weren't immortal anymore.
What?
Holy forehead!
based and Galufpilled
He actually has a point though. Story death and battle death are two different deaths. You can't cure a KO'd/dead character in battle unless you hit them with an item or spell that brings them back to life first. Just like you can't do them any further harm.
Then levy that accusation to FF4, you low IQ fucking teenager. How are you going to accuse FF7 for being a 'poser' when there were seven games before it? Surely you're not a teenager.
>there are people on Yea Forums right now who didn't take him back to Corel when you get the huge materia and save the town, completing his arc
Sad!
underrated
What point are you trying to even make? That Final Fantasy games DIDN'T have multiple definitions of death dependent of story/gameplay?
wrong, nobuo uematsu had good tracks all around until ffx
he's almost flawless
>That Final Fantasy games DIDN'T have multiple definitions of death dependent of story/gameplay?
What did you mean by this?
Why does this make so much sense?
He's 16 in human years, considered 40ish in his own species which lives for hundreds of years. The writers have no idea how truncated or elongated lifespans work.
see
duh.
No, I want to hear it from your own lips. Explain what you mean. This entire conversation is meaningless if you don't explain where you're coming from.
>Crying over a piece of fictional media
>Story death and battle death are two different deaths
Pretty sure I've heard FF7's director use almost this exact line to explain these elements of the story. What happens in battles is 'non-canon' to a certain extent, they happen but all the key beats of the story happen outside of them. You can for instance just replace every battle with a simple fist-fight and it's not all that different.
What? It's the other way around. He's 48 years old, but considered to be the equivalent of a 16 year old in his species. How did you get this mixed up?
I. Did.
I love when Cloud takes off his helmet for the big reveal and the music swells.
>see
>duh
What am I supposed to say to this?
Yep.
>WHY DON'T THEY JUST USE A SOFT?
Just ask these guys.
>What am I supposed to say to this?
You go and read the referenced post. God, what are you, 3?
The jews murdered JFK, bombed the USS Liberty, and bombed the Twin Towers.
I could never figure out if dyne was male or female
Because you're wrong. The entire point of the scenes leading up to this cave is that Nanaki was young and naive, being only 16 years old in the metrics that Bugenhagen or Cloud would use. Floating bong man explains it to you in plain English and says he's practically a child.
Is the same doofus as
and
The jews murdered JFK, bombed the USS Liberty, and bombed the Twin Towers.
HAHAHA I saw the FF7 Abridged series, too! Well played, friend!
What was the point
Don't they explain that one?
Stoned through their own willpower or something
The real question is why did that stop the wall from crushing everyone, they're just kids
>finalfantasy.fandom.com
>Although he is 48 years old, he is developmentally equivalent to a 15- or 16-year-old human by his long-lived species' standards.
No one's disputing that he's immature, but you're blatantly wrong about his actual age. I can only conclude that you're literally minded and think that having the mind as a 16 year old is the same thing as being 16 years old, or you're deliberately acting like a retard for a laugh.
*blocks your path*
Not really too emotional, but I feel V's plot is better than people give it credit for at the very least
Phoenix Down isn't strong enough to bring back the full-on dead. That's why Locke needed the whole Phoenix to bring back his waifu, and even then it only worked for a few minutes.
Stone kids were too heavy for the wall crush mechanism to operate.
Not how the game puts it. Bugenhagen even draws a direct comparison between a teenager and the way a human would count years. Chalk it up to the notorious translation. But thanks for having to look up an external wiki to clarify for yourself, I really do appreciate that.
everything is a ripoff of akira
To be fair, the Phoenix magicite wasn't all that it was cracked-up to be!
If phoenix down doesn't cure death then why does it instantly destroy undead enemies?
Still dumb when the game gives you an item prompt to try and restore them when nothing works and there's an item dedicated to curing petrification.
>Crying for furry
no
Cait Sith has the Manipulate materia when he forces his way into the party
Cloud was carrying Preemptive when he snuck up on Sephiroth
Rude won't attack Tifa if his AI targets her after Gongaga when he admits he has a crush on her
FFIX confirmed that when you're petrified to that degree, only Supersoft will reverse it.
I really liked it if you had Vincent in your party when you faced Hojo for the last time. It felt like you had the main character from an entirely different game finally getting their plot-line tied up, I don't think any other character had much to say besides Cloud during that scene.
except it isn't only this,Barret wanted the reactor and dyne contested,Barret own actions fucked dyne, and the red herring that Barret was going crazy was neat
didnt these assholes get unpetrified at the end or was that just gba non canon shit? I heard all the dead guys stayed dead in the original version
One thing I liked is that the game acknowledges how corrupt Barrett has become in his revenge quest. His actions in AVALANCHE killed hundreds of civilians who had nothing to do with Shinra other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He wags his gun arm at Reeve but at least Reeve is in a position to help people in Midgar. And Barrett has nothing to say. The only thing that makes him endearing is that he has a daughter he loves but just as he tells Dyne his hands are dirty and he's just as unworthy to hold Marlene as Dyne was
I remember what Vincent said, what did Cait Sith say?
>I heard all the dead guys stayed dead in the original version
You heard wrong. I love and adore FF4, but playable characters have laughable levels of plot armor. There’s only one playable character that canonically dies and that’s because he’s actively going against one of the core themes of the game.
There are so many neat little things in FF7 that you can completely forget, but add a lot. The meeting with Cait Sith ended so bizarrely that you never find out how this puppet randomly came out with such a foreboding prediction.
>Aerith
Don't worry user, we're not all retarded.
In the Japanese dialog it isn't even 'something dear', but more like 'the thing that you treasure the most'. Subtle difference but it's there.
Remember that part where they went to the fucking moon?
Only fags and girls cried at Aeris's death, the game had other more emotional parts in it.
Just like FFX, only fags cry when Tidus and Yuna part ways, real men know the real emotional weight that has carried across the game is between Tidus and his father.
Tifa also knew all this. She knew Cloud talking about all his bad ass SOLDIER stuff was a lie. She even encouraged it asking if he remembered their promise (the one she actually made with Zack)
What did it mean?
That Tifa liked Cloud all along? Or that she was just as delusional as him? Both?
I like watching blind let's plays of FFX, but they're obviously very rare due to how early the game came out before streaming / youtube, etc.
Not really, she only knew him as a kid. Aerith was the one fucking Zack.
I think the same thing with books.
How the fuck am I supposed to sympathize with text, make it a fucking movie.
How come Bugenhagen could levitate?
Why the fuck did they even bother keeping this "secret" anyway? What was the god damn point
Because the undead are actually just unconscious, and waking them up causes them to cease to be.
>She even encouraged it asking if he remembered their promise (the one she actually made with Zack)
No, Cloud made the promise when he and Tifa were kids. Tifa didn't meet Zack until he and Sephiroth came to her village (with the low ranking Cloud dressed as a guard)
I always figured he was on some kind of floating globe.
This. Nobuo hasn't topped the FF7 soundtrack with any of his other compositions.
FF6 and 8 are on par. Those 3 consecutive games are peak Nobuo
>game ending is nice and bittersweet
>all the stupid sidegames fuck it up
I hate this shit
Anything on the snes blows away gaystation music.
The only acceptable instance for a real man to cry is when Mickey dies in Rocky II. Additionally, if that was a spoiler for you, then you are also not a real man or you're not of age to post here anyway. Tough titties.
>Not how the game puts it. Bugenhagen even draws a direct comparison between a teenager and the way a human would count years.
So basically you're splitting hairs about the semantics of how the characters refer to Red XIII's mental age, the meaning of which is obvious to anyone with a lick of common sense. On top of that, you had the initial presumption that Red XIII's actual age was 16, but he was considered to be in his 40s in the actual game, which is blatantly untrue and I have no idea how you arrived at this conclusion. You're either genuinely autistic or acting like a brainlet on purpose.
>But thanks for having to look up an external wiki to clarify for yourself, I really do appreciate that.
That was for you, not for me, nigger roach.
I'm nervous they're gonna inject that compilation crap into the remake. Shit like Sephiroth committing suicide after Cloud tosses him to the side instead of into the pit. Fucking CROCK of shit.
If I had to come up with a reason, I'd say that they didn't tell Nanaki because he would want to see his father and sneak into the cave full of monsters.
Why was the snow village music so comfy
oof ouch you sure showed me I'm all bloody and bruised now please senpai have mercy *victory jingle* *happy sparkling lights*
>I'm nervous they're gonna inject that compilation crap into the remake.
Only the original game is canon, bro
>Shit like Sephiroth committing suicide after Cloud tosses him to the side instead of into the pit.
Last time I checked they backpedalled on that and said that Last Order was retelling the Turks' version of the Nibelheim incident and that it's not what really happened. Other than the incredibly dumb retcon the OVA is alright actually.
You figured correct. There's official art somewhere that proves it.
>Turks' version of the Nibelheim incident
How in the world would the Turk have reports on the dialogue where Tifa whines about hating everything?
have you never seen princess bride? you are only mostly dead, if you were all dead you couldnt be revived
when i first played this game back in highschool, i thought it would have been really neat if they had released a ff7 alternate or something, where it was the same game and timeline, but you played as reno rude and elaine, so the entire game you see what they were doing the entire time
in FFIX they use a Super Soft to save a character. Because it isn't retarded like the other games.
"Before Crisis" could've been that, but they never released it in the US
Well it's obviously an excuse, instead of flat out saying that it's noncanon they come with things like that to not seem harsh.
I'm kind of worried about how they treat Sephiroth. All of the shots they showed in the trailer were of Midgar but Sephiroth doesn't appear in person until after President Shinra dies.
>I was going to tell everyone your father wasn't a coward, but I thought it would more funny if I just didn't. I guess I didn't realize you were going to be such a crybaby about it
What did he mean by this?
A lot of people say FFV has the weakest story, but man does it have some scenes that hit straight at your heart strings.
Those items are non-canon, they don't exist in the story, only as game-play mechanics. You might as well complain that you didn't see numbers pop out of her head when she got stabbed or that they didn't even enter the battle screen.
You're retarded bro, sorry you had to find out this way
i liked the job system, it was pretty neat.
user, I want to recommend a game to you that you've never played. It's called Final Fantasy VII.
At the start of the game, Tifa believes Cloud made it into SOLDIER when she encounters him at the Sector 7 train station because she didn't know he was in Nibelheim during the incident five years prior as an incognito lowly MP. Even then, however, she begins to suspect Cloud's account of things because from her POV they hadn't seen each other since not long after they made their promise at the well seven years prior. Not five.
By the time of the flashback in Kalm, she starts having serious concerns about both Cloud's mental state AND her own as she finds herself in self-doubt as a result of the physical and emotional trauma she herself experienced on that day five years ago. It's why she didn't immediately call Cloud on his bullshit.
>reviving the dead doesn't bring them suffering and doesn't force the character to kill them again
V's story is great, it just isn't too serious on itself
The only emotional scene tied to a characters death is the final campfire scene
>Floating bong man
I haven't been paying attention to your gay little conversation. I just wanted to let you know this made me laugh.
>Other than the incredibly dumb retcon the OVA is alright actually.
No, that retcon I would have accepted, albeit begrudgingly. At the very least, it wouldn't have changed a whole lot beyond the context of Sephiroth's hatred for Cloud.
The retcon it attempted that pissed me off in the OVA was the scene where Tifa wakes up at the Nibelheim reactor and recognizes Cloud in the MP uniform. That scene should have rang as bullshit to anyone that played the game, since Tifa not knowing that Cloud was at the Nibelheim reactor, and discovering the truth alongside Cloud during the flashback in the lifestream is the proof of Cloud's past that snaps him out of his existential crisis.
Something really bugs me about Tifa.
When they were kids, she was the popular kid in town and she led a group of kids around. She's from a well-to-do family in Nibelheim (two story house with a piano) and was trained by a world renowned travelling martial artist.
Then the Reactor Incident happened, and she gets super fucked up by Sephiroth. Just as she was passed out, Cloud unmasks himself and saves her, then goes and throws Sephiroth into the reactor.
Fast forward 7 years later. She's in Midgar running a bar in the slums, she's part of a terrorist cell (it was never explained how she got there), and she meets Cloud at the train station. He's all fucked up until he realizes it's her, then regains composure and says he's in SOLDIER, but that he's a merc now...
Then she asks him to join AVALACHE because she's worried about him.
Why? She never gave a fuck when they were kids. In fact, he was nothing to her. Now she's suddenly lonely and wanted him around? I don't get it.
So why does Phoenix Down instantly kill zombies then. The entire point is it gives life you tard
I imagine it had something to do with the Nibelheim coverup.
>Aerith
It's Aeris, weeb.
Dancing Made and The Extreme are both better than One Winged Angel.
Fight me.
>she never gave a fuck when they we're kids
do you not remember the flashback scenes of them on the water tower?
Tifa is the classic girl next door, Cloud get's close to her when she's going through issues with losing a parent and she starts to really like him, even getting him to make a promise that one day he'll come save her.
despite now in the present day she was trained by a martial artist after the events that transpired and can clearly take care of herself, deep down she just wants her knight in shining armour.
she recognizes the inconsistencies between cloud's retelling of the past and what she remembers, but she never pushes him to clarify, and we obviously learn the truth when she helps put him back together after mideel.
>>Why? She never gave a fuck when they were kids. In fact, he was nothing to her.
She acknowledges this in the Lifestream segment. She didn't care about him that much when he was in Nibelheim but when he left she started to fall for Cloud, it's why she was disappointed that he didn't come during the Nibelheim incident.
and seem incongruent. Did she like him when they were kids? Did she like him after he left? Which was it?
She actualy cared about it at the time but she was not hanging with him because he was not popular, but she liked him,
He became her true hero when he come back after he made her a promise to save her against Sephiroth
>He became her true hero when he come back after he made her a promise to save her against Sephiroth
She was passed out when that happened, though. She didn't remember him being at the Reactor Incident.
FF7 is poorly written
only retards pretend its good or has depth
Did you forget about the whole promise scene? They weren't super close, but they knew each other, and liked each other. With literally everyone else dead, why wouldn't she find herself attached to literally the only other person from her past that was still alive?
>Why? She never gave a fuck when they were kids. In fact, he was nothing to her. Now she's suddenly lonely and wanted him around? I don't get it.
Long story short, they were far from close as children, but a few years after Cloud met her on the water tower and left Nibelheim, she started developing a closet fascination with him, or at least with seeing if he ever actually made it in SOLDIER, and started checking the newspapers for his name among their ranks within the stories involving them. His name never showed up. Eventually, she moved on from her hobby after the Nibelheim incident happened and she developed a hatred for Shinra.
Fast forward five years, she finds him in a catatonic state at the train station, where she asks if he's okay. He suddenly begins slurring, tries to form sentecnes, twitches a bit while his mind suddenly re-assembles itself into a idealized version of himself, and suddenly stands right the fuck up and greets her like a confident alpha male, all while still twitching in-between sentences, as if he suddenly just snapped out of a bizarre state of mind, but still wasn't all there. This creeps her the fuck out, but she's suddenly rediscovered this kid that she developed an interest in, and he didn't seem okay, so she decided to keep an eye on him by asking him to join Avalanche.
That's the long and short of it.
>Real men
>Crying
What a fucking faggot. Fucking incel. Millenial shitter. Fuck off.
youtube.com
The scene in question
>caring about the story
lmao how gay
Most people are just waiting for Tifa's big tiddies.
I forgot how good this game's storytelling is.
Dyne always felt like a waste of potential to me, an earlier draft had him joining the party and the 1v1 duel kinda shows that. What a shame.
>Muh FF7 deaths
Fucking zoomers
Pic related is the true tear jerker
I will never accept this modern explanation, that is only actually interested in the game rating. In FF Phoenix Down cured death, which was represented on the menu screen by a goddamn tombstone replacing your portraits. It's death, just like "dark" is blind.
Tifa isn't really any better. For the 'nice girl with an attitude' shtick, she's just as guilty of being an eco-terrorist responsible for the deaths of many, but she literally never gives a shit about this and strictly worries only about Cloud and the Sector 7 plate drop. Even the Avalanche Trio had more respect and guilt for the collateral damage than both her and Barret, and they're alive for like two hours.
I know that feel.
"But then I heard... you were going far away..."
"And I didn't want that."
This is the confusing part. Why was she suddenly so attached to this him? He was just some confused jerk acting like an alpha when they met again at Midgar.
BTW, when she says "It was actually seven" when he said he hasn't seen her in 5 years, it's because she didn't see him during the Reactor Incident.
I've used Red XIII and Vincent as the most appropriate members against him for so long, that I've forgotten what Cait Sith says. So, please, what is it?
They've since established that Last Order, Crisis Core, and Before Crisis are all different perspectives of the Nibelheim incident to try to make sense of the inaccuracies and plot holes. What Cloud goes through in FF7's flashbacks is the true sequence of events, with Crisis Core embellishing them.
I cri every time unironically
Well, we need to look at a few events as well as the overall timeline.
Cloud pined after her as a kid.
Once Tifa's mother died, she became a reclusive, confused little shut in. She assumed her mother went up the mountain because kid logic.
Tifa climbs the mountain. Cloud follows her to protect her. Tifa is severely injured is is in a coma for 7 days, and Cloud is blamed for her stupidity, causing him to become an aggressive little problem child. Tifa is the only one who knows that her dumbass is responsible for what happened to her and Cloud did nothing wrong except come to protect her.
This happened in 1995
The water tower flashback where Cloud asks Tifa to meet him, says he's going to go join SOLDIER to try and impress her, and Tifa makes him promise to protect her. This happened in the year 2000.
Despite them actually not being very close as children, there's a five year gap unaccounted for between these two important events in their young lives. It's not unbelievable that Tifa, who more or less paid no mind to Cloud, would start doing so after the events in 1995 where he risked himself for her sake. Otherwise she wouldn't have even bothered to go to the water tower when he asked, or would have at least been dismissive. After all, it was a popular date spot in town, and she isn't going to go there at the request of the delinquent next door unless she actually felt *Something* for him. Nor would she have started harassing Shinra employees and scour newspaper articles for news about Cloud ever chance she could for two straight years.
Then Tifa's home town burns to the ground, her father dies, and she almost dies. But who comes to her aide yet again? Her knight in shining armor, Cloud. Keeping his promise to her.
So of course all the time she spent in Midgar, she spent worrying about him and what happened after that day.
It's easy to inquire that Sephiroth is probably a stand-in for the brief scene before Cloud plants the bomb where a flashback voice goes "This is more than just a reactor!" If the 2015 gameplay trailer is still indicative of scenes in the game, Cloud's going to have more hallucinations, headaches and memory fuckery that will probably make the twist a lot more obvious honestly.
This scene is really good. I doubt the remake will replicate it very well at all.
>aerith
You have to be fucking retarded to blame AVALANCHE for the plate drop. There is literally no way they could know how far Shinra would go just to eliminate them
>This is the confusing part. Why was she suddenly so attached to this him?
She developed an interest in him after the promise at the water tower. Then, all that Nibelheim shit happens and she begins hating Shinra, but one day, she happens upon that kid from the water tower wearing a 1st Class SOLDIER uniform but laying down on the concrete entirely off his rocker, and he suddenly gets up and acts as though everything's fine.
Probably awakened some sort of nostalgia in her, mixed with concern for one of the few people from her past. It might have been some sort of longing for closure that influenced her decision, or maybe some motherly instict, but the fact of the matter is, seeing Cloud again in that state convinced her that she needed to make sure he was okay.
What the fuck are you on about?
In Crisis Core Zack fights Sephiroth, gets canonically fucking bodied as he should and punted down a staircase for added humility, then Cloud cheap shots Sephiroth like you mentioned in the first place. They didn't butcher the scene at all and considering Genesis is literally some shitty singer's self insert it's hopefully unlikely they'll ever bring him back.
Tabata was the lead director of Crisis Core. he's not working on FF7R especially after his role in the trainwreck that was FFXV
I'm saying Tifa felt bad about the plate drop, not blaming her for the plate drop. But compared to Barret occasionally angsting over the incident, she kinda forgot about it to focus on Cloud, and really overlooked the collateral deaths.
Yeah, it's definitely a mix of guilt complex from when they were children, her injuries in the incident making her wonder if she remembered everything correctly, and Cloud sure being messed up that kind of drive her actions.
She's a woman, what do you expect? She also barely was involved with AVALANCHE
she never knew it was cloud that saved her in nibelheim. he was under his guard helmet the whole time
She started developing feelings for him after the incident in the mountains. Probably partly out of adoration for him being the only one who followed her until the end and trying to save her, and guilt for being responsible for him being punished and blamed for the incident. Then the promise at the watertower had her wet for him.
It's funny that in the context of the Compilation, it's possible that they should know, but more so the fact that the plate drop is actually a severe underreaction on Shinra's part.
I do not comprehend
XV is objectively the best FF though, original 7 was more of a trainwreck
Aeris' death was even that bad.
youtube.com
i mean im still not 100% sure what he was even fighting
I Haven't played them (Not user BTW). Do they try to nuke Avalanche from orbit or something?
Nomura was creative producer on CC and made majority of creative descisions on it and nojima wrote it, so no
Original 7 was more successful by every possible metric than FFXV including current sales of ONLY the PS1 release of FF7 against EVERY release of FFXV, in spite of XV having a much larger install base and comparable marketing budget, and being released in a time period where games in general were far more accessible and popular than they were in FF7's time. Additionally, FF7 was still relevant and talked about even before the remake's announcement and is considered a classic even by those who count it as overrated, while FFXV is already forgotten only months after it stopped being relevant.
He stands on Float materia.
thatgifofxvplayingitself.gif
Which part don't you understand? (It's basically all in Before Crisis, so it's easy to understand people not being familiar with it, if that's the issue.)
Since they're Avalanche (although a new branch), they should have access to the intel of the main branch activities (because the bomb plan has been retconned to be originally from the earlier Avalanche instead of Jessie cooking it up herself.) and know that Shinra has to engage in all-out-war with them.
If it's why it's an underreaction? The fanatical Avalanche tried to murder every human being on the planet to cure it just three days prior and nearly succeeded. Another sect around is extremely bad news.
It's an illusion spell.
Akira is boring as fuck though.
Not once in the entire game does anyone worry about the civilians except for Reeve. The closest you get are the rebels at Fort Condor who have already evacuated their people prior to the start of the fighting that goes on over the whole game. For everyone else, the problems they are fighting are global in scale so saving the planet coincides with saving everyone ... everyone left that is.
>The fanatical Avalanche tried to murder every human being on the planet to cure it just three days prior and nearly succeeded. Another sect around is extremely bad news.
Oh complete Compilation fabricated bullshit then? Nevermind.
No it wasn't
XV is selling better than FF7 ever was and still is outpacing it and still will be for the next two years even if no more copies of XV are sold between now and then.
FF7 sold 6.57m after 2 years, it had an installbase of PS1, PS2 and PC which are all bigger than PS4 and XB1 installbase, FF7 also had a fuckton more marketting
XV is consistently ranked in top 5 best FF polla with over 10k votes and it also has higher userscores on its most recent version than FF7 ever had, XV literally kept selling months and years after release and only got a 3rd year of DLC with episode ardyn only because of fan demand
FF7 didn't even start selling higher until its price was slashed to budget release in the PS1 greatest hits version, XV sold the bulk of it at launch at full price with less than 500k of its sales being from sales
FFXV made more money with that 300k from its first month on steam than FF7 did with 5 years of steam sales despite being at 1m.
With Steam XV made more money on Steam in 1 month than FF7 did in 5 years on Steam.
FF7 default price is $12 on Steam and frequently on sale for $6.
FFXV default price is $50 on Steam and only a few times on sale for $25.
In 1 month on Steam XV had sold 300k at full $50 price before any sale, in 5 years on Steam FF7 sold 1m priced at $12 max and frequently at $6.
In 1 month at $50 with 300k XV has made 15000000
In 5 years at $12 with 1m FF7 has made 12000000 at the absolute maximum if it never had any sales, but since it's frequently on sale for $6 it's made far less than that.
So even if the total for 7 is higher it still made far less money in 5 years on Steam than XV did in 1 month on Steam, ergo is not as successful as XV was in its first month, and XV is over 700k on steam now.
Also XV sold 8.4m in its first 2 years, FF7 did only 6.57m in its first 2 years and FF8 didn't hit 8m until 4 years after release, XV is selling far better than any FF.
XV sold 8.4m after 1 year 11 months too, so cope.
What gif?
Glad you came at the tail end of the thread this time you fucking autist.
That's why I said Compilation in the original here Of course it's stupid. (Before Crisis is actually slightly decent unlike any other Compilation entry. It's loyal to the characterizations and the world in VII, except for Cloud and Red XIII.)
More sales don't mean it's a better game it is literal utter shit
how? i've watched akira. futuristic city, corporations, motorbike. what else?
>sequel
>is actually a shitty spin off tier prequel
Gee user you don’t sound like a “true fan” to me.
>that webm
lies. The dog would have killed him already and he casts a barrier on Rufus as well.
>Nomura was creative producer on CC and made majority of creative descisions on it
That's not really what a creative producer does. A creative producer just helps a director and writing team reach a final product, from beginning to end, often working alongside them in various aspects of the creative process to ensure a constant flow of productivity. Beyond that, he approves of ideas and scripts, but does not dictate or write them.
The only part of the Compilation that Nomura was directly involved in as the idea guy, director, and overall creative driving force was Advent Children and the Complete version of the same film. Everything else, he was more of a supervisor that made sure that the overall vision and direction of the Compilation maintained it's course. For Example; he gets a lot of the credit/flack for Genesis, but overall, Genesis was a brainchild of Hideki Imaizumi and Gackt, and he had very little to do with the character beyond the overall visual design of his Dirge of Cerberus incarnation, with Yusuke Naora guiding his visual design for Crisis Core. His job on Crisis Core was drawing the character artwork and adjusting/pre-approving the script before production.
Yea that is how the game puts it. You’re wrong. Just accept it.
it's also an intentionally cinematic fight making the comparison somewhat disingenuous
copenseethen
Nice goalpost move, too bad for you XV is the better game, also FF7 was more unfinished at launch than any FF, the fucking zack death scene wasn't even in the original Japanese version nor were the scene of how cloud got to midgar nor was the ruby or diamond or emerald or sapphire weapon fights, and they completely changed sephorith final boss ai from the jp launch version to the int/west version
fucking even those red and green arrows weren't in the original ff7 nor were a bunch of extra quests and there was a ton of bug fixes and way more changes
thelifestream.net
nope
just hold O through the dogs too
yes it is
its the same role he had on twewy too
creative producer = in charge of all creative side of things
doesn't even matter if that were true. It would not work on any other boss in the game.
>this is the combat people want back
yikes
>XV is selling better than FF7 ever was
>I'm dead :(
>jk XD
I don't get how anyone likes this fag
it works majority of the whole game
just get final attack materia from gold saucer and get life from junon then members will automatically revive if KO so noone will ever actually die and you can just hold down O the entire rest of the game through battles to win
>comparing the sales of games that were 20 years apart
think about how retarded that is, like compare the sales of a 2015 car to the sales of a 1995 car. it makes no sense.
XV is trash, no one cares about your shitty taste. This is a VII thread
FF7 sold 6.57m in 2 years
XV sold 8.4m in 1 year 11 months
Barret does mention in Cosmo Canyon that his Avalanche wasn't the first, so it's not completely fabricated.
>says ff7 did better
>it didnt
>wooah why are you comparing sales
holy goalpost batman
xv is kino and you're a triggered fuck that brought it up to begin with
FF7 has sold 11 million copies.
FFXV has sold only 8 million in spite of being released twice.
That's like saying Kevin Feige wrote and directed the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, when in fact it was the product of many minds working together on the visions of various directors that he just guided in one direction. Take it from the man himself;
>"A producer does nothing and everything," he says. "Nothing, in that we don't write, not directing, not sitting at the Avid — the editing machine — but working with all those people and collaborating with all those people. And at the end of the day, the job, I believe, of a creative producer is to see the project through from the initial idea."
In other words, Nomura is not responsible for the various ideas of the Compilation of FFVII beyond AC, which is the only work within that criteria he had a direct hand in. I know you want a figure to point to and blame for the things you didn't like about Crisis Core or the Compilation as a whole just to bitch that the same person is in charge of the FFVII Remake, but the truth is, he really just drew a lot of weeb characters and read/helped edit scripts.
If you want to bitch, bitch that the goofball in charge of KH3 is in charge of the FFVII Remake. That seems like a much bigger justification of concerns.
VII has recently crossed 13 million.
sorry kid that's not my argument. you are comparing apples to oranges. I just had to point out how retarded and autistic your logic is.
Even more to the point then, it's almost 40% higher in sales than XV in spite of XV having a larger development time and bigger marketing budget
A new FFT is 'confirmed'
source or kill yourself
Sauce on that, my negro
Here's hoping, i guess.
Barrett has a really good character arc. Whoda thunk the black guy would be one of the best written characters?
>Matsuno wants to make another FFT before he dies
>new FFT is 'confirmed'
Fuck you for getting my hopes up for nothing.
Not to mention, the fucker has to finish also Tactics Ogre since LUCT ends with a sequel bait and it's like 3 titles out of 8 or something.
At the very least Square should have the decency of porting the existing ones on modern systems though.
Considering I thought he was boycotting gaming or dead it's at least comforting to know he "wants" to get back into the games business.
True, VII's soundtrack feels very complete and cohesive, his other mainline OSTs have good individual tracks but they aren't as good as a whole.
based!
based theme
my nigga!
Too bad the series turned to pure shit after PS4
>Just get the materia from endgame plus knowing to combo it with phoenix or life LOOOOOOL, then you can just hold down one button for all the fights prior to endgame
I wouldn't say it makes him corrupt, misguided maybe.
I mean his background is once living in a poor coal mining town which isn't brining in enough money in modern times, Shinra Co. comes in with promises to invest in the town and building a mako reactor so Barrett (and the village chief?) were in favor of this for the good of the town.
Of course Corel is massacred and burned to the ground then covered up, spurring on not only his revenge plot and stopping Shinra from exploting other people. What he never accounted for was how far Shinra was willing to go covering things up and kill people, so when the sector 7 (8?) plate drop happens he's furiously helpless because fighting them only causes more innocents to suffer.
This. It's like when a zombie bites your throat out in Resident Evil, and all you have to do is hit it with some First Aid Spray, and you're good to go. Non-canon.
someone said cloud had the same materia to attack first when he stabbes sephiroth. anyone remember that?
I just really like the setting and characters, so I'm willing to put up with a lot of bullshit.
Well that and the fact that he's like a hundred years old.
That whole trope of a thankless, unknown sacrifice resonates strongly with me for some reason. It's why the revelation about Auron's sacrifice and MGS3's graveyard scene talking about the Boss kicks me right in the feels
XV is a bag of shit and you should hang yourself. An RPG maker game has more depth.
It was simple, but effective for me. It has a lot of common JRPG scenes, but I like all of those scenes, so it works.
Lost Odyssey is an emotional trainwreck. Anyone who thinks immortality is cool 'n shit needs to play it.
>That Tifa liked Cloud all along
During the memory segment she says that they weren't really close when Cloud was in town but after he left to become a SOLDIER she started thinking about him a whole lot, even tried to read magazines for a chance to learn about him becoming a SOLDIER.
Is it still worth picking up a 360 just to play it? I'm losing hope of it getting a working emu release, pc port or remaster
>Blank gets petrified
>They literally just use a soft
FF7 sold 6.57m after 2 years, 11m is after 22 years across 6 different platforms with multiple releases and cost less than fucking $15 since the early 00s which was where the bulk of its sales came from after it only being 6.57m after 2 years across its ps1 and PC version by Jan 1999
XV hit 6.6m in 11 months and is at 8.4m after 1 year 11 months, the bulk of its sales were at full price with over 6m bein full price just during launch, and it selling higher priced than FF7 has been for 20 years
XV is
I would normally say to wait for a PC port, but it's taking too long it's not funny anymore. If you can, play it on the Xbox One, the framerate is way more stable than in the original 360 version.
It didn't
SE press release for 7r yesterday said FF7 sold 11m
XV is outpacing FF7 sales at record breaking pace
FF7 6.57m after 2 years across PS1 and PC, FF7 then hit budget release and was less than half price since and has been for over 20 years
FFXV was 6.6m in 11 months across PS4 and XB1, then hit 8.4m after 1 year 11 months with PS4, XB1 and PC
Why does phantasy star 2 never get the credit it deserves for subverting some standard jrpg expections? In the mid-late 80s no less. Instead FF7 tends to get the accolades for this nearly a decade after the fact. The only thing I liked about 7 was cloud being an unreliable narrator.
Nomura is the creative brains behind all games he's creative producer on
so you jumped into an argument you weren't part of and proved you're an idiot
Final attack materia is from gold saucer and life is from junon, fucking 2-3 hours into the game
XV has more depth than any FF
because phantasy star 2 is fucking boring
>First, you must have Omnislash, W-Summon and Cloud's Ultima Weapon before the Secret Duel will be unlocked for you at the Battle Square. After having all 3 of these, equip the Ultima Weapon and talk to the girl in the Battle Square and she will say something about how great a fighter you must be and how you need a bigger challenge or something along those lines. Only then will you have the opportunity to fight in the Secret Duel. Only Cloud is allowed to participate and if you defeat all 8 enemies you receive the Final Attack Materia as a prize
Talking out of your ass, you can't get Final Attack until Disc 3
literally has some of the most kino moments in any rpg, use maps if you can't navigate its dungeons you pleb
and you don't get the ring until ch13
you have life materia since junon regardless
Bretty good
FF7 was still complete though sad to hear XV's utter shit handling in narrative and characterization was all in walls of DLC and a shitty movie. Also, a shitty fucking world
And you get life/raise spell relatively early in most FF games, your point?
Congratulations you just figured out FF7 still sold more copies than FFXV now fuck off
It's not outpacing jack shit when currently it has hit its plateau. Nobody is still buying XV. What people are still buying is FFVII because of the remake.
Nobody gives a flying fuck over the loss of DLC for XV.
This is obvious bait
>FF15 is forgotten faster than 13
>FF7 still goes strong 20 years after
It's not even a matter of opinion, it's literally the most barebones main entry to a FF series, but with the added crime of so much wasted potential and the failure to learn from XIII's mistakes. It's like the only negative they heard from that was CORRIDORS, so made FXV as open as possible but forgot to add an actual game.
>FF7 6.57m after 2 years across PS1 and PC
And then it kept going until it was one of the highest-grossing games of all time, compared to FFXV which plateaued at 7m and only garnered 1 million more sales from three rereleases and dozens of DLCs
The games industry is also magnitudes larger at FFXVs launch than it was at FFVIIs. The re-release will absolutely bury XVs numbers.
To be fair 13 would've been forgotten too if Sakamoto didn't continuously dig up its corpse to play dress up with the body
>good thread
>Barry comes around after 300+ replies
What even is the point, you know anons neither likes you nor agree with you. You're the literal and undeniable definition of a fanboy. Are you gonna spend the rest of your time here discussing the same topics over and over again? One button combat, Versus XIII, Stella, Yakuza royal family, muh units sold, muh Nomura, KH-fags...
It's just all so tiresome
Lets just post our FF tier lists then.
Rentfree
Who's Barry? Eric's retarded cousin?
Why does FF7 even gives an illusion of romantic choice?
The whole narrative only works if Tifa is there for Cloud.
I would put X in the S tier but agree 100% with the rest.
Not really. If Tifa is the canon true love, which I think she is, then Cloud falling for her is the culmination of his life's goal. He's been jumping through hoops trying to be a world renowned hero when the only thing Tifa wanted was for Cloud to be there when she needed him.
If Aeris is canon ship then her flirtatious but caring personality was able to draw out the true Cloud. And for all the energy Cloud expended into being like Zack, Cloud was able to win Aeris in a way Zack never did.
If Barrett is canon then Cloud got the BBC and we should probably look for a space tattoo on his ass after Gold Saucer in the remake
Inb4 tons of articles from """"""journalists"""""" how problematic the Yuffie date is
FF7 is "problematic" as fuck. I'm curious whether Square will actually do the Temple scene. You know the one.
epic.
Nibba have you missed his posts in this very thread or what?
FFXV-kun
RED SUN
>What the hell was that soldier doing? Send him a bomb or something!
>*Received grenade*
He's fucking invincible!
Because of scale. Less people were playing video games back then. Look at all the hits of the 80s, there are usually cultural reasons for it. Also even back then people didn’t like difficult games as much as easier ones, PS2 is pretty difficult just like the original one. I couldn’t beat Lassic at all without the “optional” Laconium gear. He’s a really hard boss
How the fuck were you supposed to get a high score on that? The one time I did it perfectly I got the second lowest reward tier
zack death was not in ff7 launch and only added in international version, and the ending of 7 is still unfinished and needed a movie, novel and a billion games to fill in the gaps to what actually happened after defeating sephorith and for things before the game
xv had a finishdd ending since launch, the dlc are just parallel sidestories and it has better characterization than anything in 7 and the retarded comp
Except XV is selling better because its outpacing FF7 sales you moron
Are you fucking retarded?
FF7 hit 6.57m in 2 year
XV hit 8.4m in under 2 years, thats 8m over 2 years faster than the previous fastest selling FF meaning even if XV doesn't sell anything for another 2 years it still will be outpacing every other FFs sales
you're in fucking denial because XV is selling better than 7 or any other FF did when comparing release timespans
its a fact
XV sold more than any other FF when comparing release timespans so its literally the least forgotten FF
Proportions tied to time period. Nowadays the average buying numbers are different than the ones of 20 years ago, due to products' cost, fanbase number, marketing strategy and rich distribution.
No its the most content filled FF ever with more sidequests, animations, combat mechanics, banter, graphical fidelity, unique combat systems, scale, seamlessness, battle tracks, dungeons scale etc than any other FF had at launch
where the fuck is FF7s content?
two of the most memorable things from 7 were not even in the game at launch with zack death cutscene and the weapon fights
Even a polished turd can sell billions if you throw the Square's marketing machine onto it.
FF15 is dead and buried while FF7 is still going strong 20 years later and will see an even bigger influx of attention in years to come.
In fact it will be so fucking big FF15 will look like a fucking midget in comparison.
youtu.be
the last order OVA did the cloud vs sepiroth scene perfectly. then they made crisis core for some reason...
We need people like you to keep everybody grounded.
Remakes almost never work. Everything has to be dialed up to 10 because it's an epic GOTYAY. Cloud will be flipping around doing level 100 anime power moves like Solid in The Twin Snakes.
No, XV sold 8.4m in under 2 years and has kept going since
FF7 sold 6.57m in 2 years then was put in bargain sales less than half price and less than 1/4 price for 20 years now
FF7 had 6 fucking rereleases and across more than triple the number of platforms XV is on too yet XV is selling at a far higher pace than 7 ever did and making more money than 7 too
also FF7R is not original FF7 so it doesn't count as original FF7 numbers
Fuck off KH tard
>perfect
>Cloud is a complete wimp and just magically glows at some point, and Sephiroth just commits sudoku because why the fuck not
Best arc was Cid.
Just a man and his visionnary dream
His morals in accepting to sacrifice his dream for a dumb *&%$ woman
letting sephiroth jump like a faggot off instead of getting thrown off is pretty gay. just like those gackt loving fagbois.
Can I have this cat picture?
FF7 is the most expensive FF ever made and its on platforms with far higher installbase than ps4 or xb1, and is on ps4 and xb1 now too
lurk more Yea Forumsfag
Must be why people buy ff7 since it literally only sold because of marketing which only showed the CGI FMVs and not the gameplay itself
Still a bit weird that he's a dragoon rather than a machinist, wonder if the remake (by whenever they'll get to him) will explain that.
Ignoring Barry, I just when I say I love discussing FF7's plot because it reminds me how good the game was at the time. People obviously take it for granted now, but it really was some mindblowing shit. All the characters have a lot of depth that are still discussed to this day.
>Must be why people buy ff7
No, people buy FF7 because it was fucking revolutionary for the entire genre unlike FF15 which did both the open world and ARPG combat so horrendously people pretend this abortion never happened.
FF8 sold 8.1m after 4 years, square stated that was the fastest selling FF at the time meaning FF8 sold 8.1m in 4 years is faster than the time it took FF7 to hit 8.1m,
then XV hit 8.4m in under 2 years and became the new fastest selling, meaning it is by far outpacing any other FF and still is to this day and still will be for another 2 years even if not a single copy more sells.
my niggas. poor one out for nei
He was a hybrid though to be fair, dynamite and his ultimate Highwind wasn't "dragoon"-esque
No people bought FF7 because the marketting only showed the FMVs and nothing else, no one knew it was good or bad before release idiot, it literally sold because of marketting
XV is consistently ranked in top 5 in best FF polls so you're objectively wrong
Did he ever bone Shera?
Eccentric hyperactive guy and shy submissive cake is an elder god tier dynamic.
Real men cried when Lavitz died
>FF8
>XV
Do you know what those games have in common?
Being fucking awful and half-finished pieces of overhyped shit with worst love stories in series lmao
>WHY DONT THEY JUST USE A PHOENIX DOWN?
Because that would have actually required the developers of FF7 to put some thought into how to integrate a narrativ into an interactive medium like a video game.
Clearly, that was too much to ask of them.
Yeah, one of the only thing's AC got right was it confirmed that Cid married Shera.
Supersoft.
6-fag detected, go praise your overrated opera scene again in youtube comments
FF7 LITERALLY DIDN'T HAVE ZACK DEATH SCENE OR THE WEAPON FIGHTS WHEN IT LAUNCHED
FF7 is objectively unfinished and now so is FF7R which won't even have a real ending for part 1
TFS' headcanon in Machinabridged is that they have BDSM sessions in the basement to maintain their relationship healthy.
I can believe that.
>polls
Yet nobody talks about or remembers dogmeat
>TFS'
Go back to 9fag
>t-that doesn't count
Ok FFXV XB1 royal edition has a 9.5 userscore, higher than any FF7 userscore
>Yet nobody talks about or remembers dogmeat
>POPULAR GAME GOOD
>LESS POPULAR GAME BAD
By your sterling 'logic' Harry Potter and Twilight are some of the greatest pieces of literature ever created.
Having a breakdown there matey?
Sorry that nobody already remembers your shit unfinished game while 7 is fucking legendary forever.
I've wandered into countless fallout threads and nobody remembers dogmeat, all they do is fight over 3, 4 and new vegas, and hiding in the embarassment of falling for the FO76 meme
>Aerith dies
>casts Life2
Are you? Must suck that FF7 is so unfinished it needs to be remade yet that too will be unfinished by virtue of being episodic.
actually the toy at that last moment became conscious one of the hidden gems that make this game special. reeve controlled cait sixth but disconnected it before he went to pull black materia that's why he tripped
>How the fuck were you supposed to get a high score on that? The one time I did it perfectly I got the second lowest reward tier
You're trying to move in time with the parade soldiers (like it tells you)
don't do that, just mash the raise/lower rifle button as fast as possible, it gets you points each time
That feels like bullshit but I believe it because it makes the game even sadder and ties into the central theme well.
>the ending of 7 is still unfinished and needed a movie, novel and a billion games to fill in the gaps to what actually happened after defeating sephorith and for things before the game
None of that was necessary. Unlike XV, everything was told ingame. We didn't need to know anything from Zack and Aeris that we didn't learn ingame. We didn't need to see AVALANCHE's old leader fighting the Turks. Adding stuff for money and that shit being necessary isn't the same. Same with Advent Children, we didn't NEED to know what happened after the game ends, same as we didn't NEED to know this other random storyline Vincent goes through after the movie. Hey remember when Insomnia's destruction was taken out of the game and made into a movie?
>xv had a finished ending since launch
Hey remember when the Chocobros leave you with no explanation with what happens to them? Oh wait, three DLC. Hey remember how Luna has like 3 minutes of screentime alongside Noctis? Hey remember when you could only control Noctis until they patched the game?
>te dlc are just parallel sidestories
They're not "sidestories" when the main story has plot holes without them. They're not optional, they're necessary unlesd you like to eat shit and not wonder why they left the game and then returned physically changed yet the characters act like it's not that big a deal.
It was a deliberate move to lower guards. Also a sick sense of humor because he comes back right in the middle of the scene where Cloud goes nuts and starts beating up Aeris.
X belongs in fucking F tier. Its literally just HALLWAY the game.
it’s not about popularity though because both games are popular. yet even with that variable constant, people talk about aerith but not dogmeat
>Why would I care about the statue of some dude I never met?
this. It's hard to get attached to a death of someone the player hardly knew.
It's why people cared when Aerith and Galuf died.
and why people didn't give a fuck when Luna, Jared, or King Regis died in FFXV, lack of screentime to get emotionally attached to them.
>xv had a finishdd ending since launch, the dlc are just parallel sidestories and it has better characterization than anything in 7
The amount of delusion in this post. I can't believe what I'm reading.
>wojakposter
color me surprised
It's not about Seto, it's about the effect learning the truth had on Nanaki.
>Western design philosophy
>Something that almost never happens in Western games
Mind blown.
>The amount of delusion in this post. I can't believe what I'm reading.
It's just a delusional ban evading FFXV fanboy who thinks all the FFVII expanded universe stuff (Crisis Core, Advent Children, etc...) is mandatory to complete VII's story while all the shit for XV (character episodes, cancelled story DLC, the movie, Multiplayer, etc...) is not necessary for XV's story.
All of that is more necessary than any of the side content added to XV which have no bearing on the main story, everything you needed to know for main game was told in game, we didn't need to know what gladio did to get a scar or the exact cause of ognis ignis going blind because he already says it was a sacrifice in the greater battle and gladio fighting gilgamesh has literally nothing to do with the main story, we dont need to know what the kingsglaive did for 10 years waiting for noct because we can already surmise that from context, you don't need to see insomnia getting destroyed because you already know that happens and it literally says it on the back of the box, all that stuff for FF7 however is directly the main story and the aftermath with Sephiroth being confirmed as never truly dead and can just come back through the lifestream whenever he wants
remember how rufus didn't die but not explained in the game? remeber how zack death wasnt in the original launch version nor was how cloud got to midgar? remember how Sephiroth doesn't even appear until the end of the game and has less dialogue than luna? hey remember how noct can do more through weapon switching than the entire ff7 party could ever do and how you cant even move in combat in 7 and how in xv they added 3 brand new unique combat systems which also is far more than the pick words from menu shit ff7 had and how none of the diamond weapon, ruby weapon, emerald weapon etc fights were in the launch version?
regis and luna death were more impactful than zack or nanaki dad death
Yeah you are delusional and a ban evading samefag.
By far the climax of the game. The music, the twist. That was when FFVII cemented istelf as my favorite game story in history. How Squeenix handles this scene alone will make or break it.
>No its the most content filled FF ever
Quality ≠ Content. Funny because at launch and for months XV had neither.
>with more sidequests
I sure love doing MMO tier hunting and scavenging quests
>animations
The newest game has the flashiest animations? Color me fucking surprised
>combat mechanics
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>banter
If only the rest of the game was as good as *some* banter between the bros
>graphical fidelity
See animations
>unique combat systems
See combat mechanics
>scale
It tries to have the same scale as FF VII did by its time, the difference being the content in said world and cities being actually, you know, good.
>seamlessness
If a 2016 game couldn't handle entering cities without a loading screen, it'd be even more laughable. You do know in VII you seamlessy traversed the overworld and changed between vehicles right?
>battle tracks
When it comes to tracks, only Somnus is unique and great. Guess what? It wasn't made for XV, but for Versus. When it comes to *battle* tracks, only the 1.02 version of Veiled in Black is really good.
>dungeons scale
I sure love going through repeated hallways for 1 hour and a half
>where the fuck is FF7s content?
In the game, without a need for animes, movies or dozens of patches
>two of the most memorable things from 7 were not even in the game at launch with zack death cutscene and the weapon fights
Zack's death wasn't "memorable" until CC you inbred, it was a skippable 3 minute cutscene if you returned to Shinra's mansion on the third CD. And only Ruby Weapon and Emerald Weapon were missing. Even then comparing the first Japanese release to the International one everyone and their mother played is still not even comparable to a full release + required movie + patches + Royal Edition + DLCs + patches + cancelled DLCs turned into a novel
I hope you fuckers didn't forget.
youtube.com
>because when a party member is KO you can't cast offensive spells on them to do any further damage.
Funnily enough you can do this in most SaGa games.
>All of that is more necessary than any of the side content added to XV
Avalanche's old leader has no relevance whatsoever to anything that happens in VII. Angeal and Genesis have no besring whatsoever to any of the events that happen in VII. None of it is NECESSARY you literal retard
>which have no bearing on the main story, everything you needed to know for main game was told in game
The bros leaving during the main game is something that must be explained lest why not not leave at fucking all? Especially as the events they go through change them? Why does Gladio know believe 100% Noctis unlike back in the train, what changed? Why is Ignis fucking blind? "Lul doesn't matter".
>he already says it was a sacrifice in the greater
Tell, don't show, huh? We don't NEED to know how the Chocobros changed, we don't NEED to see Insomnia's destruction, we don't NEED to spend time with Regis and Luna to see how much Noctis cares about them. You're a literal autist if you not only see nothing bad with this but you unironically think it's better than what any of the PS1 Final Fantasy's offered.
>we dont need to know what the kingsglaive did for 10 years waiting for noct because we can already surmise that from context, you don't need to see insomnia getting destroyed because you already know that happens and it literally says it on the back of the box
Holy shit so yeah, you went on and said it. Fuck spending time and caring for Insomnia, seeing a 20 second "cutscene" is enough of an emotional turning point for the player huh
>all that stuff for FF7 however is directly the main story and the aftermath with Sephiroth being confirmed as never truly dead and can just come back through the lifestream whenever he wants.
The fuck are you even talking about, that's ingame you literal retard.
>Rufus
Rufus did die in the game, it was the movie which retconned it. Nowhere was it stated nor even implied Rufus would survive an explosion
this.
The only "real men cried" moment, was Vivi and his existence. Pissing with Zidane and make thousand of kids. Vivi was a real man!!!
>Zack
Nowhere can I see online that Zack's death wasn't there so I'm calling bullshit. Even if it wasn't it doesn't change that much, especially as Zack was a late addition to the game abd he was way less important at first. Tifa explains meeting Cloud at Midgar's train station, him arriving to the city is connected with Zack's death you say wasn't originally there. What, you wanted them to show Cloud taking a bus?
>remember how Sephiroth doesn't even appear until the end of the game and has less dialogue than luna?
Except he appears on Nibleheim's flashbacks. And then throughout the entire game using Jenova as a vessel, starting right before Costa del Sol. And even you already see his exploits in the Shinra HQ
>the hey remember how noct can do more through weapon switching than the entire ff7 party could ever do and how you cant even move in combat in 7 and how in xv they added 3 brand new unique combat systems and yada yada yada
Holy shit you haven't just compared battle systems. Tell me you have not just compared battle systems so your donut steel waifu boy could win. What, you want me to treat Advent Children as canon and say Cloud can jump as high as Shinra's building and cut entire pieces of the city? kek, keep moving goalposts
Stop arguing with the retard, it's not worth it. For your own sanity.
Nice goalpost move, XV has more content and at higher quality, not a single dungeon in 7 is as good as any in XV, at launch XV had more content than any other SP FF does and still does
>muh mmo sidequest
literally what every sidequest in older FFs are, melusine quest, deadeye quest, chardanook quest, zu quest, etc are all better than any sidequest in older FF
FF12 has worse animation than FF10, and 14 has worse than 13 or 10, XV exceeds every FF on this
Where is your argument? Dodge rolls, blink cancels, warpstrikes, parry counters, party techs for iframes, airsteps, combos and directional inputs, weapon switching, aerial combos and aerial dodges, tech rolls, armiger abilities like phase, free warp, afteimage, physical barriers that are real time actio
everything in older FF is just a cutscene from a menu, there is no other active mechanics
FF7 is literally emptier and so os every other FF.
shimomura said the intent of the track is unchanged since versus to XV, and I said battle tracks because it has more than 1 regular battle theme and far more boss themes than any other FF, with pure shimomura magic and even has based uematsu doing the bahamut boss theme, plus okabe and mitsuda and mizuta and suzuki, its pure kino with far higher production quality than older FF top with multiple boss themes being dynanic too
In FF7 there is load between every battle, every dungeon, every area you go to, in XV only load is in boot, fast travel or new chapter, everything else is fully seamless in each chapter
FF7 needed its movie and anime and spinoff games and novels
zack death was memorable in 7 after they added the scene in which is why fans demanded zack get his own game until he did, diamond weapon wasnt a fight in jp launch it was just a fmv cutscene and nothing more
FF7 needed FF7 international to fill in the zack gap, bug fixes and new content+ AC movie + BC prequel + CC prequel + novel during 7 and set up AC + DC sequel to AC + ACC added 20 mins to AC
See? Stop arguing with the retard.
nobody cares about your shitty FF game XV-kun
Gilgamesh has no relevance to the story whatsoever
Ignis says he was blinded as a sacrifice in the greater battle, that's all you need to know
Promptos origins was learned through Verstaels research throughout ch13 then at the end he just reveals it which you could've guessed since verstael is just his body but older
none of that stuff has any bearing on the main story, rufus not being dead is main story, sephiroth being able to come back through the lifestream is main story, the aftermath of meteor/holy is main story
the bros stuff is explained more than any of that in 7 and more than shit like rydia now suddenly an adult and parom porom suddenly not dead from being stone
You see them going through the changes and dealing with them in the main story, you already know enough to know what happened without needing it beaten over your head, meanwhile zack death a crucial moment in clouds backstory not even shown in launch version? wow ff7 is unfinished.
we spend more time with regis and luna than we do fucking zack or seto you idiot, are you retarded? even hinawa in mother 3 has less screentime than either regis or luna. you know full well who they are and what they mean to noctis because of how distraught he gets through losing everything and reaching a breaking point by ch10 which is why Gladio is pushing noctis to not stop because they didn't sacrifice their lives so noctis could mope around, he was kicking him into gear using tough love, you fucking underage moron literally anyone can see that.
You fucking see more of insomnia than you do Zanarkand you fucking retard
Rufus did die, ac retconning it wasnt explained either
Because you're a dumb cunt?
thelifestream.net
Tifa meeting cloud at midgar wasnt in original launch 7 either that was also an added scene in international version
>flashback
where he does and says less than luna does
Jenova isn't Sephiroth
t. retard
Yet you brought it up and cant deal with it selling faster than ff7
>muh sales
no one cares and no one even talks about FFXV anymore the only person obsessing over it is you barry
;-;
Yet you brought it up retard
no one cares barry
He's literally sitting on one of the huge materia.
You clearly do.
ITT: Idiot not knowing the meaning of the word "need".
Think about it: there's a human being breathing the same air we do, that unironically believes all of this, and has done so for years. And you'll never ever meet him irl so you can beat the autism out of him. Why even live.
no one cares
m8, not him, but akira was literally the inspiration for this game's plot. It was literally expressed by its devs and not just hinted or something that was inferred from playing the game
It honestly struck me as pretty stupid. It's the big long build up of hints that Cloud isn't what he acts like, what even he thinks he is. That there's something wrong about who he is, or what he is, and his story is going to be about overcoming that, overcoming his past failures. Then turns out the big, traumatic past that Cloud is hiding from, the thematic stranglehold that Sephiroth has over his identity, was Cloud being the biggest, most heroic bad ass ever, who punked Sephiroth with almost zero effort. It was basically all a giant red herring.
Insomnia could've been the new Midgar. Goddamnit bros why did Square fuck with Nomura, why didn't they let him do his bloody project instead of moving him to other projects and fucking with his team :(
That's kinda the point. He had to get over his hang ups and realize he was a hero all along. He didn't have to be destined or specially chosen, he just had to rise up to the occasion.
Square has absolute garbage personell management but Nomura is a lazy hack who can't stand his scheduled jobs, even for simple artworks.
I was always under the impression that Bugenhagen thought Nanaki knew the truth until the party makes him aware. He says something like, "he still believes his father is a coward huh?", implying it's something Nanaki deduced at a young age but was thought to have grown out of, presumably because he didn't talk about it anymore until prompted by Cloud. This is also the point where Bugenhagen initiates the reveal so the theory is solid imo.
As for why the area is sealed, the spirits of the Gi tribe that attack you in the area are trapped within, to keep them out of Cosmo Canyon.
He was a shitty grunt both before and after that. Him throwing Sephiroth into the reactor was an adrenaline rush due to "power of friendship" over Tifa and maybe Zack. He was a weak Shinra MP before that, and he was nearly catatonic and couldn't help Zack at all after it. Zack died and Cloud had to drag the Buster Sword all the way to Midgar's outskirts and up to the Sector 7 train station for Tifa to find him.
yeah that'd be you
its all true
you're in denial
the insomnia in the final game is bigger than it ever was in versus
>1, 13-2, and Lightning Returns that low
1 is basic but pretty okay. I'd put it in B. 13-2 and LR should be in at least C, they're both better than 13 was.
>crying over a jrpg
fucking kill yourself holy shit
>PHOENIX
>literally cures death status
This damage control
13-2 and LR share the 13 universe hence they are absolute garbage tier by default
It's called the "pre-emptive" materia and no, Cloud doesn't have any materia equipped during that segment. Or if he does, you can't tell because it's all during a cutscene with no prompt to open an equipment menu. And because you're actually playing as Tifa in that scene watching a flashback.
I didn't really care about this all that much
I mean, I cared, but not in comparison to Aeris dying
and this is the main reason
You sound like you're arguing that someone should have the same reaction to having an NPC you just met tell you their mom died as they should seeing an NPC's mom die after spending half the game getting to know her, her personality, her friends, and her family.
I'm just misunderstanding you, right? ...right?
You just describe the settings what anyone can do, what is actually the theme and story of Akira?
That was what happened in the original. The super soft was dummied out for the US release for some reason.
>FF7 sold 6.57m after 2 years, it had an installbase of PS1, PS2 and PC
The PS2 wasn't even announced yet within two years of FF7's release.
I wish the writers didn't fuck with Cloud in later sequels.
cait is based beyond belief, and a true friend
I haven't been emotional over Alys in so long. Why do you have to do this to me?
youtube.com
Feel agony
>you can't order a dog to "stay"
wow so immersive and realistic
Well, Sephiroth was going half mad himself from reading all that knowledge too quick in the mansion. It's partly Zack's fault for not noticing the weird change in behavior in his colleague. I don't think Sephiroth had in mind that such a low grunt would be able to get a quick upper hand on him. It does happen though.
>what is FF8 and FF4
>Being devoid of all emotion
I was just going to say this. Good shit, user. 8 and X had some baller tracks though.
FF4 for sure. This track is pure Final Fantasy, and captures the essence of the series. Desperate heroism against darkness.
>Mc
so fucking cringe. The epitome of trying so hard. Literally what was the point you made a phrase take longer type. Why do Americans always think about food
