The difference is the elves tended to live in their own secluded forest away from humanity and forbade humans from really entering it. Half-elves were treated as blood traitors to the elves, and then the whole shit with the Desians and the Church of Cruxis souring people to half-elves, so humans didn't trust them either.

It got so bad that the half-elves that just wanted to live in peace and not get fucked over by one side or another lived in the floating sky islands by themselves. No prejudice from elves or humans, but nowhere else they could go since Sylvarant wasn't available to them. And even then the Desians were ravaging Sylvarant too, so they might not have even found a home there either.

mithos' endgame was doing WHATEVER IT TOOK to get his sister back, up to and including taking the mana seed and destroying humans, elves, and half elves.

the elves seperated themselves from humans because passive racism shit like you mentioned, but Genis and Raine are run out of town because every half-elf in sylvarant is a desian and a a descendant of other desians, except for exactly two exceptions that are products of human/elf miscegenation after the world split, and both of them happen to be in your party.

IIRC, humans and elves pretty much segregated themselves from each other because of the half-elf and human-elf relationship problems. They don't actively hate each other to the extent humans (can't remember about elves) hate half-elves. Genis and Raine's cover worked specifically because they said they were pure blooded elves. Which really makes me wonder where the heck did all of the Desians come from since they're all half-elves.

Well in ToS at least, Mithos went fucking insane and basically said literally nothing else is important so long as he gets his sister back, he'd sacrifice anything and anyone if she could be revived.

of course. Alisha > Rose, and Alisha was in all the promo material and heavilu suggested for the main female lead, but turns out you lose her like 10 hours into the game and she gets replaced by a dogshit mary sue.

Zestiria is a very pro-death game, but that makes no sense in the Tales series because many of the games have big plot threads of death being meaningless, such as if you win Sheena's duel or the scene on top of the bigass tower in Abyss with Luke saying "I don't wanna die".

Zestiria is also just not fun. Getting into encounter links in Berseria is fun because it's fun to rake through enemies and get souls, it's not fun to get fucked by Zestiria's shitty hitboxes from across the battle field because of iron stances.

most playable chatacres in Zestiria arent even viable because they have 2-3 elements or they just suck.

I think Symphonia does a racism plot really well, and you even get stuff like Genis in the end slightly racist against humans because of his friendship with Mithos and getting to see and experience all these prejudices firsthand, even though he knows they're wrong and a good number of humans aren't like that, including his friends. He's able to sympathize with the villain, not to the same extent of genocide that Mithos wanted, but enough to share his opinion on this stupidity of the world and of a number of people within it, especially ones in power.

Zestiria's AI was also a new level of bad, because the enemies start to get ridiculously strong and also you're punished for attacking casters with certain attacks. Which the stupid ass AI will not heed, because they're idiots and they'll just speed up their spellcasts.
Also Armatus was fucking broken and made it so that there was 0 reason to play as a solo and it was better to just fuse every battle and spam the gigantic attacks. Looking at you Water Armatus.

I actually like how Luke slingshots from one end of the spectrum to the other, from total asshole to basically desiring to sacrifice himself. It’s really only at the very end of the game, in Eldrant, that he finds his balance.

Torn on that. The party has good moments, Lloyd, Zelos, and the Sages particularly, but the broader plot felt so melodramatic about it that by the time it became the moral center of the story I feel like I would not have cared if I did not like the resident half-elves.

Disqualified for not having to actually do the job, I think. The whiplash was nonetheless a great idea and a very real-world way of showing just how disconnected parts of the Tethe'alla were from the game to that point.

Also the person whose Sorey's ability to use the Purifying flame came from whose literally the closest thing to a god tried it and failed. Lailah says that it can't be done because people did try and failed.

Eizen himself knew that he was going to turn into a dragon and be killed, and Edna knew that she couldn't save her brother. Her growth is about her learning to accept death as a part of life and move on.

sorey does try though, he is young by shepherd standards and so he isn't powerful enough to purify some of the stronger hellions
this starts with the cardinal well before the dragon shows up
it is also explicitly stated that dragons are the last form a truly malevolent seraph will take and so they cannot be purified at all
it's edna's acceptance of this fact that comprises a a large chunk of her story
