This is objectively the greatest video game ever made. Will they ever make a third one?

no, they went bankrupt.

but d:os 1 is better

ill take guaranteed calculations instead of rng status effect chances anyday thank you

Well, they're apparently making a turn-based tactics game. Maybe that'll lead into 3 in due time.

>hack away at armor for 10 turns

Attached: 1555174650155.png (303x311, 181K)

there's something really unsatisfying about 90% of enemies having armor that you need to break before you get to their hp.

What are other good RPGs like this?
I'm playing through with a friend rn and went back to d:os 1 to get my rpg fix while we aren't playing but it sucks compared to 2. The combat is a slog and the characters are lacking.

Baldur's Gate ?

Have Sex

Why the fuck don't they just go open world instead of having semi-open world? feels like I'm railroaded everywhere due to enemy levels being visible
>enemy level is 1 above mine
I'm fucked, go back later
>enemy level is below mine
let's do this

you seriously couldn't deal with enemies 1 level above yours?
they are still absolutely beatable, and if they aren't you can just load up on some potions and adjust to the fight

it's objectively worse than the first

It still hold up?

They tried to change the gameplay since DOS1 was a fuckfest of status effects which decided the fight since turn 1

i hope nobody had that lizard cunt in their party

i get why but it just gets a bit tedious when it's so common. i'm fine with some enemies having armor but it's just too widespread

why ? It was my main

It makes sense, but more things like Torturer needed to exist. Having one-to-two extra health bars (Physical and Magical Armor) lead you to stacking one type of damage. If you split half your group into magic and half into physical, you're just gimping yourself, because it's gonna take twice as long to chip it away before you can CC anything.

With all of that said, it's legit still one of my favorite games ever.

am I retarded for not liking party members with a backstory? I fucking hate this "trend" even though it exists since BG2
I'd rather have blank party members where I can at least customize everything and not be interupted all the time by them wining

Torturer shit it breaking the game mechanics, I don't know why they introduced this

Attached: 1537729280408.jpg (221x228, 4K)

left him in the fucking dirt with his shitty innate ability

>stacking one type of damage. If you split half your group into magic and half into physical, you're just gimping yourself, because it's gonna take twice as long to chip it away before you can CC anything

or you can just play it a little smarter

Don't some enemies have significantly more of one type than the other? Seems like it'd encourage a switch-hitter or two.

What's the best solo build?

Attached: 1463515208563.jpg (832x690, 128K)

>not using piercing damage and having specialists to pick off the lesser armor (that EVERY enemy has)

>10 turns
>Not destroying every enemy in a single turn on tactician
Spotted the brainlet.

Elf Ranger

Death Knight. Warfare and Necromancer.

The first one was way more enjoyable.
This a thousand times.

The custom classes section of nexus mods.

I still don't understand this complaint. Maybe I got lucky and my friend and I played builds that weren't shit? It was fucking fun to have to prioritize territory and attack sequences between us to take down enemies with loads of armor fast.

You can easily take enemies that have much higher levels than you except in early act 1 before you build takes off. For example on my last play I went to bloodmoon isle first and fucked the advocate and his men at lvl 9.

>save scums until you roll a 5% chance freeze

>find out in the last zone that swords hit in an arc and not a single target

i am the brainlet, someone also explain how the fuck spears work in a build

>If you split half your group into magic and half into physical, you're just gimping yourself
When will this meme die. Almost every group of enemy is made up of half physical armor and half magical armor enemies, you just pick your targets accordingly. It makes the game a lot easier.

>the most based and redpilled of the party
>cunt

AH WHERE IS MY PEPPER
DID IT SPROUT LEGS AND RUN AWAY

Try investing into your mainstat retard. 180% chance to inflict means it resists the enemy rolling a saving throw up to 80, which you can further increase by debuffing their Willpower or Bodybuilding before trying to inflict status. Literally git gud

I don't think he's saying it's impossible. And it's not really a meme when it objectively works exceptionally well.

why did they fuck up the soundtrack so much in the sequel

Spears are just 2 handers that scale with finesse instead of str. They also have a bit longer reach so you can hit from a bit further and stuff like whirlwind hit more enemies.

Also every single melee weapon can hit multiple targets on attacks if they have the cleave modifier, it's not just swords. You'll see the modifier and also a little arc when you hover over enemies.

The soundtrack in 2 is awesome though.

Attached: 1557263211468.jpg (625x625, 38K)

The soundtrack in 2 is actually pretty damn good but it's not the same without Kirill. He brought that slav touch that made it memorable.

>be undead
>get to 0 vitality
>still die
what the fuck

Fallen Heroes is on its way. But I think they're pandering to XCOM fanbase. Which is all good but makes me sad. They'd be just dumbing down the RP and discovery elements in favor of streamlined combat. Which honestly 2 had a problem with(And a good but very rushed and flawed final act in Arx)

Another Problem is Xcom fans are prob gonna rush to Phoenix Point instead of getting into Divinity, making Larian fuck themselves.

I fucking loved DOS2 beat it on normal, shared source with Rivellon with Sebille as my boo and Fane and Ifan by my side.

But it doesn't. Having a balanced party makes almost every encounter easier since you just focus mages on weak magic armor and melee on weak phys armor. It also makes some fights where enemies have evade/elemental resistance way easier since you can actually use half your party to deal damage at least, compared to having to do some gimmicky shit.

>Another Problem is Xcom fans are prob gonna rush to Phoenix Point instead of getting into Divinity
The only similarity between them is literally that they are turn based.

>Make custom character
>Feel like some rando jackass who is just along for the ride
>Play one of the canon characters
>Personality shifts wildly as your responses and their innate personality clash
My one glaring complaint

Beginner: Summoner any
Later on: Elf Necro

>He didn't like the Red Chad
He was no Fane but he was leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the cast.

>That part were you have to fight those gladiators blindfolded
>Im a summoner

Attached: th.jpg (300x300, 7K)

>friend went rogue and was deciding between fane and a custom character as the main

we figured out about half way through what a huge mistake it was, considering his whole strategy consisted of the old double turn shit anyway

uppity faggots annoy me

>Not playing as the uppity faggot so you can look down at the peasantry and fuck your waifu
Shiggy

Attached: Capture.png (774x158, 98K)

The original designer of Xcom is making phoenix point they will having just about everything in common.

If you meant divinity over xcom then yeah to a degree. But they're also trying to have recruit system with perma dead, funding to upgrade the lady vengeance and funding to make weapons andupgrades. Which is cool, I thought divinity had a meh crafting system. But its something Xcom would just do better at.

>That part were you have to fight those gladiators blindfolded
I'm litterally at this part
how the fuck do you do this
>all my casters can't do shit

i didn't want to be railroaded into a personality

Good AOE and line spells for casters (laser ray and supernova) Touch spells like chicken claw and decay touch. Daggers over bows. Summons for Cheesy goodness. Anything that requires targeting at a distance dont prepare

you sill have range, its just much closer. use corners to draw them in, set your melee up in chokepoints for attacks of opportunity. bait them in towards you, set traps / ambush, use consumables, etc

these
are good options but just do what I did and 360 walk away

Fair enough. Personally I liked most of the origin specific dialogue and thought it was neat how they wrote different versions of the same character so you still have some choice while playing as them.

Was the laziest character design and story (2nd is sebille) Could never go through with him in my party. Had trouble adding Beast and Lohse in the party too. Just felt like a chore

Wtf are you talking about

should i play as sebille or lohse bros?

What is the point of doing lone wolf since you get gimped out from a bunch of the story?

I considered Ifan the bro-est. But hes fuckin dumb if he thinks im gonna let everyone else turn into a demigod. Still felt bad i didnt do what he asked though. Even after getting backstabbed and lied to again he still stuck around and commanded the armies for me in the epilogue it seemed.
More than i can say for Lohse.

you can just murderhobo murga and convince the raucous one that youre good enough to be champ after you kill the voidwoken if nothing else.

Is it better to do a custom character or one of the default ones for a first play through?

>try to debuff willpower or bodybuilding
>these debuffs require checks themselves
topkek

I think it was an Irresponsible ending but no better than Lucian's fuckery and I found the divine ending anti climatic desu. And rp wise I felt it made the most sense.. I put my trust in my allies and through that gain the most power collectively setting things "right" and prob paves way to the next game smoothly

nah, just take Fane (he's insufferable as a companion anyway)

Default ones have some unique stories tied to them and some have extremely important links to the main story. You still get every single thing you would with a custom one and can change how they look anyway.

Fort Joy is a great level

>escape fort joy prison
>still in fort joy
>can't fucking just leave already

would love to see more recurring characters in acts that would be impactful in story. RP rewards be greater (so I wouldnt resort to killing for loot and xp EVERY time). More optional bosses like more than 1 dragon fight maybe a beholder or some other fantasy races show up. Orc and Imps as a DLC. Maybe a personal demonic quest line thats more in depth. Absolutely no unkillable npcs or ones that respawn in the next act. (looking at you Alexander and Malady)

I agree, it seems like that was the better ending going by how the game ended with my choice. Almost went with it, since like you said, it seemed like it was just going to be continuing the cycle and ending up no better than Lucian probably.
But after playing a selfless hero through most of the game, I really wanted to take what was promised to me. And felt my character would do the right thing with the power after all the group has been through.
Im hopefully going to go through the game again with a friend this time and see what they choose to do, and try to resist the urge to screw them over too much haha.

>can leave Guantanamo bay prison camp
>Still on Guantanamo Bay Cuba
What is this witchery??

yeah going full covenant next time just to relish in my assholiness

No Linux build

I am still unsure if the game is more just purely XCOM or if each "level" is more like its own little DM level. So there might still be choices and alternative routes to things.

But they havent said much
