OSRS was basically DOA after launch hype died down. And stayed that way for almost two years. Because It was a snapshot of the server, as it was in 2007.

Classic WoW is different because its not simple a snapshot of patch 1.12 in permanent stasis. Its a sort of franken patch but starting from an early content patch, with a planned content release schedule. Classic WoW team would be hurting themselves if they added anything before phase 6 concluded. Because the entire premise of classic WoW is you are re-experiencing vanilla. Which entails a whole lot more and is actually completely different than what 2007scape sought to do.

Really though theyre two totally separate games for two totally different kind of players. Its simply not an apples to apples comparison

I think its a combination of horde zeppelin, gurubashi arena, sunday fishing quest, booty bay boat, shit like that. Theres always a reason for 60s from both factions to be in the area and its quite easy for them to get there.

both factions questing together for 10 levels along with a neutral city and a graveyard right next to the big quest hub. Also its the first place most players encounter people of the enemy faction of their level

See the difference between the Runescape 3/OSRS situation and the WoW retail/WoW classic situation is EVERYONE was mass quitting/leaving RS3 and the vast majority of the playerbase hated RS3. WoW is still doing pretty well even in BFA and even though its a bad patch currently I would say the majority of players are ok with the game right now. I don't think WoW classic is going to have as much success as OSRS did.

After hitting level 100 I decided to hit up a couple TBC raids instead of moving straight to Legion zones, and I got the ashes on a single run of Kael. I suppose I should consider myself lucky, but mounts don't seem special now that there are seven billion different over-designed varieties.

Druid you will be doing a lot of flag running, but you can pvp, raid, and farm well in the same spec. You can try out jank specs like moondruids and kill people from 40yrds which is pretty enjoyable. But druid is a very very difficult class to play well. You will need to put in 200% effort to make it somewhat effective.

Rogue is a hell of a lot easier, can pickpocket farm, and is great in pvp with cooldowns, and pretty much the melee dps along side geared furies

when I raided back in Wrath, we had an addon system called.....suicide kings, I think? basically, every boss you were present for, you'd get points for, and you'd get points, which would reset when you roll on, and win a piece of loot. Once rolling for MS was done, OS was rolled for on basic rolls, which didn't take from your points.

As others have said. Druids are up there with Paladins as one of the worst designed classes in vanilla wow. There’s a reason they are the least played class. Still, innervate, motw, and battle rez are all important to have in raids so there will always be 2-3 resto in a raid.

I'd agree with that for sure. The rogue combo point finisher, the BM and arms buffs, and more. Also it was a huge step in the wrong direction for homogenization.

I want one on each side and you can't do that on PvP servers unfortunately. It's a bit weird but when I was a teenager I always felt like a double agent playing both sides. My guilds had no idea I had a fully geared alt on the other faction.

On a side note I decided to resub to retail and I'm having fun. Before you gut me let me explain. I have gotten so hyped for classic that I started to get that itch and it really needed to be scratched. Classic is going to be my main game when the time comes but I still think I will play retail on the side.

Now I have a question. What do you think are the chances of a possible WoW popularity resurgence? I'm not saying it will be like Wrath numbers but a respectable amount. You'll have people returning to play Classic and will only play Classic. But there will also be people returning who will also play retail since it's covered under the same sub. Not to mention all the streamers who will pickup the game and get their retarded fans to play it. I'm not talking about people that already play WoW like Asmongold. I'm talking about like that time Ninja played Halo3 and El Dewrito blew the fuck up.

Highly doubtful classic will have a positive effect on retail other than maybe the devs will decide to make it more like classic (hahahaha right). Nothing on retail takes more than a few minutes while classic will be very time consuming. Players that play both will end up choosing the easy life of retail or spent all their free time in classic. Even when new raids are released, maybe a contingent of classic players will play retail for raids but I'd say those are probably people that already subbed for retail and they will quickly bail on retail once they're through with new raid content.

Retail has no staying power. six months between patches for 2 months worth of content (which is generous) - yikes. Not to mention all the loot you get in that time will be the equivalent of greens when the next content patch hits.

The problem is you OOM faster than anyone else by a large margin. You've got to drink after every 1v1 and god help you if you 1v2 or when you rez and have to blow all your mana just on rebuffing. Meanwhile you could just be playing a mage or warlock instead.

Attendance is also an issue. You want the best gear going to the people who will be present the most, so that the piece of gear gets the most use.
That said, if you're replacing gear on the same superstars really fucking often then their gear ISN'T getting that much use, is it.

When I ran with my guild we had the following system:
People /roll ed for gear
The person in the highest "tier" of player gets the gear. If multiple people in the same tier rolled, the highest roll gets it.
We had 4 tiers of player
High tier:
Players who had >75% attendence and at least tried to get better at their class and play well.
Mid tier:
Players with >50% attendence who only put in token effort and who were clearly just there to pick up their loot.
Low tier:

I can't remember there being a single WoW expansion where the first patch after release didn't have shit PvP for one reason or another. Your points are valid, but it's pretty much the same with every other expansion. It always got better, but shit is always aids before the 1st real patch.
