they need to put the shortcut door before the boss instead of it being after so that you don't waste up to 5 minutes or more of walking back down to be full hp/sp
and then also increase metis to level 78 like everyone else does when you fight them, so that you don't have to grind her up for a bunch of hours. And it's more a bitch too since its just you and Metis fighting shadows so all out attacks are weaker. And all your accessories should be given back as well before the fight.

I'm playing through it while using rough as fuck google image translates, I forgot how spooky the start of Q was in Q2 before you get sub personas, everything does half your health and you can only use sp skills like 3-4 times before you run out. I've run into a couple fights already where the enemies focus one teammate and instantly blow them up before I can do anything making me reload saves so that no one gets behind on xp.

Because when they made 3 it was a revival of a series that had been dormant for 6 years, changing pretty much everything about the gameplay and what type of game they were going for, and experimenting with a whole bunch of things that they hadn't done in Persona or any other previous MegaTen game at all until that point. They did not anticipate how popular it would end up being. With 4 and 5 they didn't make the same mistake and kept all the important characters alive to be milked for future spinoffs for all time.

It's got some neat new scenes here and there like 4 and 5's anime did so I enjoyed them.

Morgana's knowledge of the Palaces is a lot more basic and guesswork than he tries to let on, so when Makoto and especially Futaba show up they're able to do things Morgana can't, which in turn feeds into his feelings of becoming useless to the team, which leads to him leaving and mentoring Haru, followed by him rejoining the team while recognizing that his worth as a person isn't just defined by how useful he is mechanically, which in turn feeds into the greater overarching message of Persona 5 which is that society should actually be structured so that people look out for each other instead of just treating everyone around you like a disposable tool.

holy fuck you're retarded, I don't even know what you hope to gain by strawmanning his point this hard. modern persona gameplay mechanics were designed with the themes of p3 in mind, while the next 2 games use the same exact mechanics with slightly worse execution (like party member development tied to slinks) without trying any new overarching mechanics based on their own themes. saying a game that's all about solving a mystery and reaching out to the truth should have some gameplay mechanics related to investigation is not faulting it on the basis of the characters not being ace detectives.

I understand making a lot of the supernatural shit being focused on humanity's collective unconscious. That's what drew me in when revelations persona came out and I started this shit. It's always been my favorite part, but focusing on humanity as the central focal point for all creation and existence is where it loses me.

Yes, if you’re not a waifu-addled brainlet. 1 has the best combat in the series and an actually decent cast and story, while IS and EP have the most engaging story and characters. Be warned that IS is genuinely intolerably easy though, it seriously almost ruins the game with how much of a chore it is.

You can play em for the story and if the gameplay gets annoying just download cheats.

they're the best from a narrative standpoint, so yes.

1 is rough around the edges if you don't like old school first person dungeon crawling/navigation, but the neat grid system makes up for it if you aren't down with the 1st person crawl.

2 and 2 part 2 are much easier to get into since it's more basic JRPG fare.

After reading Lovecraft, I think including Nyarlathotep in Persona 2 was a big mistake.
Lovecraft is all about making humanity seem miniscule in the grand scheme of the universe, so making a big player like Nyarly a product of the human psyche seems ass backwards.

I prefer emulation because I like playing things with a controller so yea, I'd go with emulation. PSP emulation through PPSSPP is basically perfect and you can find undub isos. Physical copies are pretty cheap though so either way is fine.

You've got fags spouting about how all of persona was really just cognition the whole time after 5 came out. Meanwhile, the only time in the series where it was even close to the cognition retcon was the shit with the DEVA system, rumor curse in 2, and nyx. These supernatural occurrences that are seperate from the mundane helps the unique setting these game had, but by actively making it "it was humanity's creation from their minds all along" as the explanation for the entire of the series, then everything loses it's weight compared to humanity. Whereas before you had underdogs being toyed with by cosmic forces they wrought upon themselves unknowingly, you have them bending all reality to their collective will meaning there will never be stakes ever again for this setting.

like states, it's much more interesting to have them be manifestations out of control that are an exception rather than it being part of the norm created from within the human mind to begin with. It's a chicken/egg paradox that fucks with the setting. And what's worse is that there's nothing that implies it all came from people in the first place. Sure, consciousness and souls come from the sea, but nothing else was ever explicitly stated to be humanborn until 5 came out and you had people buzzing about cognition. Nothing really. He seemed pretty mature and level headed, more so than the rest of the cast in The Answer.

I have a serious bias for Aigis, but I will admit that the other girls are great. Liz is an excellent example. Her autism is adorable.

I thought Yukari acted great for someone who was grieving and just taking it out on everyone around her, Aigis was trying to kill herself the whole time becuase she was depressed and Junpei was mature and level headed the whole time, Fuuka was just being herself.

Nyx is a deeper dimensional drifting being that collided into the earth, body becoming the moon and mind becoming shadows/the thing that humans evolved to keep inside themselves (Erebus) and their yearning for death releases "Erebus" to try and connect with Nyx again, but a completed Nyx would bring about the end of earth just by existing in it's proximity, right?

Yeah usually I hate "sequels" to completed games because I fear they ruin the characters but The Answer was made in a short span of time after Persona 3 by the team that understood their own writing fully and they really developed each party member nicely during that epilogue story.
A shame it's stuck on hard mode because without the compendium, it really becomes tough.

That's mostly because the directors kept fucking up or changing so they had the main character go through the exact same "acceptance" phase multiple times in a row.

IIRC, Nyx collided with the moon instead and was simply dormant as its body was being repaired. Erebus wasn't part of Nyx and was just a result of Nyx's impact on the moon which caused humanity to yearn for death. This desire for death caused humanity to counteract it with thinking which sped up their evolution. Their desire for death also caused Erebus to form who is trying to contact Nyx to cause the Fall and fulfill "humanity's wish." Now that Nyx is awakening and mostly healed, humanity's desire for death was slowly fading which denies people's need for thinking. That's what we call the Apathy Syndrome and why its victims just stare blankly into space. Shadows aren't unique to Nyx and are just a result of being self aware. Door sacrificed himself to act as a permanent seal between Nyx and Erebus because Erebus will exist for as long as humanity exists.
