No.

Pic unrelated?

The expression is "labor of love" if your brain isn't clickbait soup from treating this place like a memejerk.

how did we go from this

>lifeless, animatronic-looking plastic doll CG
>”””””soul”””””

Honestly, board-specific costumes are neat and all, but I don't think they make or break the Mario Party experience as much as people like to say. I don't think we were missing much by never having them return, and we've had a lot of other great Mario Party games that never needed costumes to be appealing or fun.

honestly they should just introduce non-board specific alt costumes for mario parties. There's a mod for mario party 3 that let's you use the ones from 2

A good way to increase soul is to add sunset

I think it helps that the pre-rendered backdrops of yore were singular images that had to be composed and designed in a nice cohesive manner from scratch. There was a lot of room for detail. The problem with 3D is that it is often too easy to just plop down pre-made assets and call it day. Mario Party doesn't require a lot of effort from Nintendo, so they don't bother.

I adore that era of art work but can we stop calling it soul? It's kind of makes us looks like fucking gobshites

Damn shame. Attention to detail is gradually fading away in games today.

The Horror land logo png looks like it was layered on with MS paint

No you faggot, terms exist for a reason even if we both don't like them.

Clank clank

Only with dogs and gingers

according to my research, soul=dimly lit cgi

It literally is though. I guarantee that if the "soul" meme persists we'll see games from 2019 in 20 years.

Why does everything look so damn sterile?

>ywn explore the abstract landscapes of 90's CGI as Mario in HD

WHAT THE FUCK IS EVEN THE POINT OF LIVING?

>still no Mario game with this artstyle

honestly thought luigi was holding the trans flag from the thumbnail

This is the future we chose

Too bright. Too clean. Too polished.

>Welcome to Mario Kart!
A lack of disdain for your players also helps.
Also
>every soundtrack in that entire game
really makes my dick hard

>Odyssey
>soul

Why do no developers attempt to simulate this kind of art style anymore? Why does absolutely everything have to have that boring, "slick", "compact", "futuristic" look to it now?

youre pulling my leg right?

Nostalgia is good. If something is thought to be good because of nostalgia it doesn't make it "just nostalgia". Nostalgia is a feeling that you have for something that you used to really enjoy, because it was a nice thing.
