RTS is not a multiplayer genre.

I love these fatfucks. Nothing more satisfying then having an army of lvl 1 units come from one direction while cans come to a more vunerable position.

>rts thread
>everyone shits on rts they dont like

That green laser sound effect though. Pure joy.

Now is not the time for brothers to be infighting. We must work together to bring back the glory of real time strategy games.

RTS folks are rather civil, all things considered.

Whats the meaning of this thread slavic?

Don't mind me just posting the best RTS

RTS died for 2 reasons:

1: Warcraft 3
2: Peaked with TA

>1.
Completely right
>2.
TA did some things better than any game after him, but it was lacking in the solo campaign department, for instance.

I miss Slavik, fuck Marcion.

Attached: Marcion.jpg (1231x693, 366K)

Was slavic just a power hunger faggot who got fucked when kane came back?

Yeah, i do like the atmosphere in TA but the plot is paperthin and the missions are too easy. I felt the the best campaign was the core contingency.

I miss ominous electronic OSTs.

Since C&C3+KW and RA3 reappeared on IGG, I felt replaying both. Tiberium Essence for C&C3, but are there any recommended mods for RA3?

You should probably also mention how total war gave people the option to run big armies into eachother without being gookclick

Myth is underrated

put me in the comp stomp zone, please.
4v4 in Supcom with Sorian AI co-op with my friends was some of the best fun I had in a multiplayer game.

Any good RTS that aren't walled off by micro-skill?

Anyone play Dark Reign? I got it off gog for cheap.

gookclick is what pissed on RTS grave.

I prefer Valves.

Total War is unironically for retards.
t. played Shogun back in 2002

No

Myth looks nice, sell it to me, why is it good.

TA

SupCom
Zero K

TA, Zero-K, and Supcom had options to let you program your armies to fight under certain circumstances, letting you automate most of your warfare and building.
No one really used it, though.
Any of the TA successors.

Minus PA, Planetary Annihilation is a turtling clusterfuck when you get more than one planet into the mix.

So why do 90% of new RTS games go for the esports angle.

Because Starcraft.

Every non-retarded fan saw the turning point of the series unfolding with Warhammer, fundamentally and financially wise.

I played a fair bit of supcom and never even knew the option was there

What's some good RTS if you're in the city building camp?

Stronghold

Anno

everyone but /twg/, apparently

I'd argue it started before that. Shogun 2 had units with activated abilities that could turn a close fight and single entity units that could solo masses of normal troops. Those didn't necessarily make it into later games, but special abilities became more and more prominant. Warhammer was when the floodgates opened, but it's been steadily creeping into the series for a while now.

Realtime tactics game where physics is actually properly simulated so arrows bounce off trees, hills give extended range and make it harder to hit someone who is uphill, dwarven explosives can be duds or if you throw multiple explosives there's a possibility of them rolling back down a hill and exploding and turning your men into giblets. The campaign is really challenging with a cool story and you can't brute force any of the missions on Heroic difficulty or up so you really have to take advantage of positioning and tactics to win every battle and your veterans will carry over into the next mission. It's also extremely well balanced and still has a multiplayer community (and all the campaign missions can be played coop). If you want to try it, I recommend getting Myth 2 and using The Fallen Levels to play the first game in the engine of the second. Download it off any abandonware site and use this guide rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/myth-the-fallen-lords-on-a-modern-pc.119358/

See, there hasn't been a version set in modern times. TTD with RTS would be really fun

>pretty cool game, small following
>devs consider kickstarting a successor RTS
>nah fuck that let's do a kickstarter for a collectible card game instead
>WTF why don't people who loved battle realms want a CCG
For fuck's sake.

>Unique economy with a cool supply lines system
>good physics
>Possibility to go full Pike&Shot or Demon/Amazon Arrny
>Low poly Tits
>Conquer the world campaign
>Comfy music
One hell of an underrated game

That sounds shitty. I hate digital CCGs

Still would.

Nemesis of the roman empire also had some sweet supply lines

>CCG

WTF, I thought it was going to be a Lotus-centric sequel. Fucking idiots.

Looks pretty comfy, not gonna lie.

It will and that makes me sad

Shameless bump

starcraft 2 is the closest you're gonna get

it is if you know how to make a game fun

>been playing Warcraft 3 for 15 years
What's wrong with me?

And how did warcraft3 destroy the rts genre?

Dota

Nothing, btw hows the remaster? Is it shit?

all the new graphics were outsourced to malaysians

Why would anything be wrong with playing old vidya?

We haven't heard anything about it since its announcement last year.

Because devs think that's where the money is - not realizing that for most of modern esports, it's the other way around. Money is pumped in to keep it afloat, esports scenes don't develop naturally anymore.

-_-

whats the "esports angle"
starcraft is the only esports RTS

Aoe2 has a competitive community.
I'm not really sure when compeitive tournaments become esports though

having a competitive community doesn't mean the game is going for an esports angle. esports didn't even exist when they made AoE2. Having a competitive community just means the game is good enough to play competitively

Aren't they remastering this?

Who /cossacks/ here?

Nope, only CnC1 and RA1. I guess they could remaster 2 if it sells enough, but I wouldn't count on that

Welp, at least RA1 is good
