Skyrim was and still is a good game, it just got dragged down by Bethesda's falling reputation due to the disappointment of fallout 4 and the shitshow of fallout 76. Oblivion plays like ass (hitting sponges with foam swords) and I would take Skyrim anyday.

Killer Instinct '13 is better than every fighting game to have ever come out in the past decade

People who say have barely played Sonic games or are the types of people who think every game is either a perfect classic or absolute garbage. It's a ridiculous reductionist idea that is worthless as an opinion.

The Sonic series has been incredibly inconsistent, starting off relatively strong with improvement through its first 3 or 4 releases (1 - 3 + CD) then facing significant inconsistency after entering the 3D era. It almost became consistently decent during the late PS3/360/Wii era thanks to Unleashed's day stages, Colors and Generations but bad spin offs hurt that era, and then it became inconsistent again.

The series has great potential that it has lived up to before, but is the victim of poor management of the IP, spreading its concepts too wide for it to keep them all done well, and failing to achieve its core concept because of that. When it does achieve that core concept (Classic Sonic games and Mania, Unleashed Day Stages, Colours, Generations) it is a fantastic and highly replayable game with an interesting spin on the platformer concept by designing its levels around repeated plays and understanding of momentum.

Yakuza games are all the exact same and the franchise barely improved or changed over the years. The game themselves are great but I don't really see the point of playing through the series. Just play 0 and you'll see everything the series has and ever will offer.

People getting upset about people putting their personal politics in the game is just as bad as people putting in it the game in the first place.
Just don't play it or support it and move on.

SEGA and Paramount are both to blame and the fanbase isn't helping by extremely vocalizing their disdain over a design that is mediocre at best, acting like children to hog attention by socializing with hiveminds. The current Sonic is decent, but wouldn't mind any other better than it.

Sonic series is decent, but nothing extraordinary. The series could have evolved starting from the GBA era entries and fixed their overall flaws, but feels like they've settled with nostalgia from the past in order to keep regressed while making games simple. The original Sonic games were great for what they were in the past, but people hold on to the past too much.

Mario games have always been a staple, but it feels like it found itself into a corner and now relies on fan levels for 2D Mario to stay relevant as they struggle for any actual ideas other than NSMB entries.

The Mario series feels like it has a void that doesn't really feel answered and feel they're hoping to find something that fills it.

Despite BOTW, I feel like Zelda could have potential for more.

Kirby games are getting slightly oversaturated and repetitive.

Pokemon as a franchise has begun to scavenge its demographic a bit too much.

I hate playing Half-Life 2. I think what it did narratively is interesting and innovative for it's time but I cannot stand playing it at all. It's boring and not enjoyable for me.

Arena FPS was fun when there were no alternatives. It's worthless to try and make an Arena FPS popular outside of the very tiny niche that would actually touch it at all.

Bravely Default's late-game twist doesn't negatively impact the game.

Metroidvanias with RPG elements (like the later Castlevanias) are strictly worse than conventional ones; Symphony of the Night and Aria of Sorrow don't compare to the likes of Super Metroid at all.

Pokemon Platinum is not much better than Diamond and Pearl during the main story, which is an important part of determining the game's quality. Pokemon fans who play the series as a lifestyle, spending months upon months doing post-game activities after their single week with the story seem to be unable to see that, hence the reputation it has today as a holy grail of the series even though the same people would call Diamond and Pearl mediocre or outright bad.
