I honestly actually like this. We knew about it since it was announced, so this isn’t anything new. We will always have the original game, so they might as well make something new rather than a remaster.

The reason why I like it is because they said they were doing to make the game’s story-line more in depth, and thus everything will feel more full. They already said that all the parts are going to be full games. The first game will be fully set in Midgar, and when playing the game I really wanted Midgar to be less rushed and more expanded since I really liked the comfiness of it; I had kind of wished that we got a version of the game fully set in Midgar, since I like the atmosphere and feel of that section so much, so it’s like a dream come true for me. I fully approve of this, I am excited for 60~ hours of midgar but the downside of this is that I imagine that the series might not be finished at all.

I am not saying that they can’t fuck it up, I am just reflecting my optimistic hopes in the best case scenario. If they don’t finish the thing, hopefully we would at least get a fully expanded Midgar game.

My opinion is going to be unpopular, don’t misunderstand me, I am just saying that there is still a little hope that it may still work out well.

But it’s probably going to be more of a Total War Warhammer thing, calling it episodic would be wrong because it would be more of a series of full games hopefully.

I'm fine with them splitting it up. I just wanted it to be turn based, why are square so afraid of making another turn based mainline final fantasy?

It may be still turned based/atb, but made in a way to look seamless and flashy. Hopefully it will be a real time battle system, just with you having the the ability to move around, and with a far quicker ATB by the looks of things.

There's always hope but from what little they've shown there seems to be less hope than there was.

The only other thing that concerns me is by splitting it up into multiple games they're going to forgo the open world when it should open up. It's just going to be another linear FF game with no, or fast travel only, backtracking allowed.
