Check the Yea Forums charts of essentials. Horror games on the PS2 were pretty spectacular. Lots of hidden gems. Katamari was fun. Gitaroo Man. Spider Man 2. Persona 3. Eternal Poison. .//hack.
>Not playing on original hardware
Disdain for plebs.
but hey, at least you're playing ps2 games in the first place. Oni is a really under-appreciated ps2 gem; though it was also for pc. Resident Evil Outbreak 1 and 2 are fantastic. There's also Max Payne, Oninmusha, Dark Cloud 1 and 2, Entire Metal Gear Series (don't paly the ps3 remasters). Honestly there's a shit ton to list but this should be more than enough to get you started.
>"don't play PS3 remasters"
>ever wanting to go back to 30fps MGS3 just because there isn't one or two extremely minor things wrong with the port
>advocating an inferior experience
Viewtiful Joe
>not playing games as they were originally intended to be played
How good of a PC do I need to be able to decently emulate PS2 games?
I have a GTX 750 TI,8GB ram and an AMD A10 6700 3.70 GHZ processor.
I know the parts in it are pretty old by todays standards but would it still be worth trying out PS2 emulation?
>wanting cut content
what, you don't have original hardware to play on on? including a crt??
oh no I can't play my meme skate boarding mini game with a shitty bootleg Tony Hawk engine, what ever shall I do
and no, faggot, I live in 2019, I'm not a smelly Smash player lugging around a fucking CRT to play decades old video games.
cant see shit
Rule of Rose and Haunting Gronund were great
I do, emulation is just flat out a better way to play most PS2 games these days. Unless you're one of those retards that thinks games looking and playing worse is somehow a bonus.
>never realized how good a library the ps2 had
what are you 12?
I shit on sony as much as the nexy guy but I'll never slander ps1/2
dragon quest 8 is comfy, but make sure you have the usa version for good soundtrack
Why did you post such a shitty version?
don't make a good point with kshitter pics attached, people who don't know will not think you are making a good point
Everyone sucks From's dick but nobody plays Shadow Tower Abyss.
im not going to pretend all crts are superior, but the top of the line ones are my dude.
i took my ps3 and hooked it up to my 44" lcd and my 36" Sony Trinitron Wega (literally the last CRT's ever produced, and they where 2,000 dollars when they came out).
with the ps3 literally displaying the same exact game and image on both TV's, it was no contest. Top of the line CRT'S still out outperform LCDs.
>Emulating PS2
Yikes!
Did anybody ever play Headhunter? The cover looked like Boondock Saints edgy horseshit but it seems interesting otherwise.
>lugging around
nig are you homeless
Abyss is broken trash. King's Field II/IV and Shadow Tower are the best when it comes to early From.
He's a child who can only associate CRTs with shit he hears about Smash.
It's not as nice as Gamecube emulation but PS2 emulation is fine for most games now.
great replay value because of the numerous amount of hilarious and serious choices. you just have to endure the terrible localization and clunky gameplay but otherwise its a great game
so someone would give me a better one
thanks you fucking shit-munching gerbil
>King's Field II/IV and Shadow Tower are the best when it comes to early From
>Not AC
Eat my shiny photon blade.
>God of war 1 & 2
>dmc1 but not 3
I meant early From RPGs. Armored Core 3 is certainly the best console mech game next to Steel Battalion and ZOE 2.
>no atv offroad fury 2
I get that it came bundled with a bunch of PS2s but it wasn't a bad game by any means
so keeping clunky, outdated hardware because "i need to play the authentic experience!!!!!" instead of moving on to more modern and ergonomic solutions isn't childish. got ya.
Yes
DMC3 is on there under multiplatform, since it wasn't exclusive like DMC1 was.
>All these poorfags who keep insisting emulation is better than original hardware with CRT
What's the matter? you can't afford to play vieo games? Are you also to weak carry CRTs?? Oh my...
lads what can I do with a new crt I replaced an older one with
when I first turned it on it was on game mode but I dumbly changed the channel and now there is seemingly no way to go back without the remote(which I don't have)
any ideas, it's a sylvania(don't laugh, it's at least from the 2000s)
>Just finished god hand after sseth's review, and god damn was it a good game,
solid bait. I am fucking seething.
The PS2 and all of its games are no more "outdated", but you're still playing those.
You can have both dumbo, are you against playing old games on the original hardware? You know a lot of stuff isn't emulateable right?
Alright... you are forgiven, this time...
>emulation is now considered poor
use the buttons on the tv itself. 99% of crts have buttons. if for some reason it doesn't, i woudl suggest universal remote from walmart.
You should come to terms with the fact that God Hand is not a very popular game.
enjoy your 480i and sketchy framerates, user. More power to ya.
I have about 7 CRTs
wait, people REALLY put a clunky, heavy, old, dusty, buzzing, stinking CRT with all kinds of outdated cables and adapters in their room and think they have "superior, authentic experience?"
i hate to break it to you, but you guys got memed on
>You know a lot of stuff isn't emulateable right?
On PS2 or in general? If we're talking PS2 Pretty much everything worth playing is playable on PCSX2 these days.
It truly depends on the game, and I say this as someone who plays pretty much anything 5th gen or 6th gen on a CRT.
Thanks.
I know you're just baiting and looking for you's,but for me personally it's just much easier to download and emulate a game than it is to find a physical copy.
I have a small collection of PS2 games but sometimes the prices are crazy or I just don't want to pay for another copy of a game I bought in the past.
oh yeah the terrible 2006 pc release
No, it does have buttons but for some reason it has no option to switch to component through them. I just wonder why it was even on game mode at the start. The people I got it from definitely don't play games.
KEK my CRT supports 1080p, 720i and 720p, 480p and 480i. looks crystal fucking clear mate. what are you on about
Both, and not really. PCSX2 still has major issues on the few games I even tried like NBA Street 1 or 2 and Jak and Daxter.
software will always have the ability to age better than hardware, I hope you realize that
I can understand why you would still use an original set-up, but, the fact is emulation for PS2 has gotten to a point where it provides a better and more flexible experience for *most* games if not 100% authentic.
How’s drakengard 1 & 2?
Best you're going to get out of a PS2 is 480p with progressive scan, buddy.
To be fair there are some that are basically unplayable. Jak II and 3 come to mind.
Same power cable as my guitar amp and PC. So maybe you're the one that got meme'd on.
It's also smaller than most people's meme 60+ inch moron tvs.
look o nthe back of the tv for the model number and then use the model number to look u pthe manual online. i can't imagine a crt not being able to go into a certain display mode with ONLY a remote. the TV/VIDEO button should work fine. check the manual.
this is definitely a more productive discussion than recommending games
This. I played Haunting Ground a long time ago and remember how good it was, but I just now started playing Rule of Rose. This game is so awesome, of course Europe had to pull it off the shelf.
I'm tempted to save for Halloween.
Why's it either or with niggas
I do both
actually got good advice
thank
i know that. which means the tv is more than capable. Not to mention the thing has 7 inputs. i have ps2, ps3, OG xbox, dreamcast, gamecube, genisis and super nintendo. all hooked up.
>clock tower 3
I hope this game if forever forgotten outside the wacky murder scenes.
>I'm not a smelly Smash player lugging around a fucking CRT to play decades old video games.
So you like old games looking like shit thanks to shit LCDs, gotcha
black
np
it's interlaced 60fps
Don't mind me, just one of THEE BEST PS2 games coming through

>playing 2D games on original hardware plugged into a CRT
>Big Dick Chad
>emulating 2D games output to a CRT
nice broken depth effects and flickering shadows
ps2 has the best library of games
that's great and all but you're in a unique circumstance by having a late end CRT. I'm going to bet most of the fags talking up their "authentic experience" TVs are regarding the standard 4:3 boxes with 480i like everyone had.
should be in reverse order
Big dick CHAD would never care about something as stupid as CRT
>not getting a better experience
oldfagging at it's worst
only if you are counting ps1 because ps1 >
wow... looks so terrible...
Men of culture, right here. Only poorfags of the worst kind stick to emluation when PS2 are dirt cheap. I got one as a gift and another early model for $10.
Nobody plays legit copies of PS2 games. They a TB hard drive in a fat model and have the entire library.
Emulation is just trash.
All those games are playable. Check the wiki next time dumb-dumb.
well earlier in the thread i said
there's a deffinantly a cut off point. But the fact still remains that the top of the line oens ARE superior to current tech (except for weight)
It had a pretty great library but that's partly because it just had a fuckton of games in general.
I knew a dude who was buying ps1 games on his ps3 and playing on an led, it looked so bad
He started coming to my place just to play them on my crt after I enlightened him
Sad!
>Manipulating the iso via emulation for better image
Just proving his point retard.
don't CRTs get burn-in, isn't that an issue?
not him, just curious
No they aren't. Street needs pretty high end hardware(wiki's requirements aren't correct) and Jak has the infamous black hole eye glitch.
Second is "playable" but not worth playing, first one no but probably with a new gpu.
hold up, so having a CRT TV which you can typically find outside houses giving it away for free for strangers as well as PS2s which sell for under 50 bucks isn't the poorfag option but buying a good enough PC to emulate PS2 at 1080p/4K isn't
yes, it absolutely can happen. but you have to leave the crt on for a very long time with a still image. it's 100x more common on computer monitors than tvs because people wouldn't use screensavers.
jsut don't be dumb and leave a crt on with a still image for a week straight and you'll be fine.
Shinobi & whatever the sequel was were both pretty great, Bully is one of the best games Rockstar ever made, Destroy all humans 1&2 are both amazing, both Castlevania hands are worth replaying, both Maximo games are swell (1 is a better arcade experience with successor to G&G, 2 is a fairly component arpg.)
Just install an universal remote app on your phone and try it, might work with CRT.
You cant reason with emucultists son.
Yes zoomer, it is, you'd be spending way more money in order to play games via emulation. Now be a real man and spend less money in order to play some PS2 kino faggot.
So say I want to emulate some games from that generation and most of em are multiplatform anyways.
Am I better off with Dolphin or PCSX2 (or some other PS2 emulator)?
how does that prove his point? Even with scanlines and low resolution output hiding the fuzz of 480i, a CRT simply won't compare well to emulation.
you're only looking at the initial investment. Over time, buying ps2 games adds up. on average, a ps2 game (with case and manual) is about 2-25 bucks.
>emulate PS2 at 1080p/4K
and you deinterlace the video output
it's pretty much the same argument as 4k 30fps versus 1080 60fps. ps2 hardware has lower res of sdtv but offers i60 framerate.
You're the "emucultists" doofa, since you're on the side of advocating for against people advocating against
20-25**
but some the rare games go for much higher. so yes, you are a poorfag for emulating.
If a game is multiplatform, then Dolphin. Rarely are there ever major problems because it is emulated so well. PS2 exclusives are great all around so it's worth having PCSX2 as well.
Mate this is Fortune slash vee we already have all the PS2 isos. You could make the argument that a hard drive for the PS2 and an IDE to SATA adapter are additional costs though.
>no maximo games under platformer
shit list
CTR has true colors, unlike LCDs; they meme about that with shit like HD... TRUE HD... 4K... 8K!!!! Shit still can't deliver real black.
Then install a chip and pirate the games like a rational human being. No reason to go full retard and buy second hand games just because you want to play on OH
It's under action/adventure
>Not hunting for good deal.
I have like 20 games and haven't paid more than $15 for each. Brand new of course
any still image is always going to look better on a lcd because of the higher resolution. wait till things start moving. i suggest getting a small lcd tv and a smal lcrt and output the video to both at the same time and compare. you won't be dissapointed. you're trying to apply new tactics to old tec, it doesn't work like that mate.
there's always the option to get a plasma if you care about black levels that much.
small dick virginal logic
>Being a collecter and enjoying the cases and manuals is irrational
getaloadofthisguycam.jpeg
Good color quality is the only reason to own a TV.
>Plasma
Those never caught on.
upon plugging in my CRT, the huge colour gammut was immediatly the first thing i noticed. the difference is like night and day.
The way they were originally intended to be played is shit
>dis nigga frfr abbreviated original hardware
I"M DYIN
I remember the time where I compared a movie (Live free or die hard), in one tv was the HD signal in my CTR the regular signal of the same channel. The only difference was the aspect ratio, Bruce Willis bald head covered like half of it in the CRT, I'm temped to say it looked actually better on it as well.
>Being a collecter is irrational
pretty much
you don't deserve to play these games.
also how are you going to play mgs3 without analouge buttons?? you have to lightly hold square to hold enemies hostage, if you press square al lthe way you kill them. you do not have the option for lightly holding keys on your keyboard.
>Not doing both
If you like fighting games play SC3 on the emulator.
SC3AE Mod adds Amy, Hwang and Li Long movesets to the game so not only are they playable they also get to keep/get their moves.
youtube.com
This guy did a pretty good one.
It seems to work just fine, Hwang/Amy/Li Long vs Ivy or Yoshi though seems to make Ivy and Yoshi glitch out. The rest of VS works perfectly fine.
This thread was about playing games not being a collectorfag. You can be both of course.
The best way to play PS2 games is on a PS2. This really isn't debatable. They can be legit games, burned games, isos ran off the PS2 hard drive, or isos ran off the network. But it's on a PS2.
PS2 emulation is abject shit and shouldn't be defended. You arent even really playing the games.
>paying scalpers HUNDERDS of dollars for overpriced video games
T. zoomer PCfag that play games on his inormiephone
not entirely sure what you're trying to say, but if i'm not mistaken; you're saying the old movie looked good on the CRT. That's because old game are specificalyl designed for old hardware. they will always perform best of them. live free or die hard beng an old movie, the same applies to that.
Die hard 4 is a movie from 2007, where HD was already a standar.
>being so fucking poor you can't blow money on vidya whenever, wherever ; you want
i feel sorry for you son
Thank god for emulation.
>Implying he'd fell for a scalper when buying a ps2 game in the year of our lord 2018+1
Holy shit what the fuck
pcsx2 is a shitty emulator, everything you play runs on a per game configuration.
What Gundam game is this user?
ps2 original hardware is like reading the book while emulation is like watching the movie adaptation.
retarded analogy. It's more like watching a movie on VHS vs. a remastered Blu-Ray.
>being this retarded to buy 15 years old games
if you are so fucking braindead to not being able to emulate, just off yourself.
Yakuza 1 is pretty great if you havent played it
>implying i can't or don't know how to emulate
remasters dont come with missing particle effects
RAD
DMC1 remaster did, but that's just another reason to play on original hardware
PCSX2 requires you not to be a complete fucking moron to run the games perfectly, i know it's a great feat for consolefags but you have to overcome it one way or the other.
I love how the game lets you either destroy her life or make it better at the expense of others.
i have a slim ps2 i put a chip in before free mem card boot was a thing, it plays everything. i still prefer emulation though because you can crank up the resolution, use aa/af. its nice seeing older games running in high res. not to mention the widescreen hacks for some games that didn't have it etc. pcsx2 has come a long way if you use the nightly dev versions. i cant imagine why anyone would prefer playing on original hardware unless emulation has an issue with it.
Skygunner
I love that game's art style, reminiscent of Mega Man Legends in the best possible way.
Venus & Braves is an import btw
If you like Wrestling games, try the Fire Pro Wrestling series, or it's spinoff King Of Colosseum. The second one is the better one in my opinion.
Most games you play won't be bugfree and the experience won't be greater than anything you can achieve with actual hardware. Try playing something other than the top 100 PS2 games.
Also have a look at this mess:
github.com
How old is this list? Okami, devil may cry and final fantasy x and x-2 aren't playstation exclusives anymore.
reminder that you should be running the nightly version of every emulator if its available. remember the dolphin 5.0 spam? literally nothing was different from the nightlies that had been out for over a year if you kept up with the nightly/dev builds
>buildbot.orphis.net
>game requires a specific function
>just skip it lmao
Yeah, no wonder it's a shitty emulator, it's based on hacks from the beginning.
It has a date on it dummy
OK well final fantasy still counts at it released may 2016 on pc
you wouldn't get a decent framerate without those hacks.
That maybe would be the case a decade ago, if pcsx2 devs were competent enough, there wouldn't be any issues now.
Why play the remaster when you can achieve the same fucking effect on an emulator?
A literal toaster can run PS2 emulators.
some lighter games, sure.
definitely won't be able to play the whole library but a decent amount of games should be fullspeed.
PS2 Fat + HDD installed is the patrician choice.
Primal and Mark Of Kri are two amazing underrated ps2 games
>your games run perfectly only because the emulator devs make the games run perfectly
Damn, you showed us.
>Primal
Impossible to emulate it at full speed though.
>your games run "perfectly" only because the emulator devs make the games bypass conflicts by disabling features.
Does the process by which perfection is achieved matter?
>ctrl+f

the superior PS2 emulator that isn't a hackjob
it recently got a performance update that has pushed a lot of games to half-speed+
Probably because Ace Combat is a popular franchise, which doesn't fit what he's looking for.
If you're going to recommend a game to someone who's asking for recommendations, don't you think the name is kind of important?
You can re-map square and circle to a controller’s analog triggers allowing you to play the game great.
mana khemia 1 and 2
Crash Team Racing wasn't THAT great
OLEDs have far superior blacks to CRTs.
t.own and use both a OLED TV, LCD monitors and TVs, PVMs and PC CRTs.
>OLEDs have far superior blacks to CRTs.
So did plasma tvs, but the burn in shit killed them, hope they find a way to fix it on oled.
best list ive seen yet, why is it here on Yea Forums?
weeb list kek
persona 3 fes isnt underrated but there's a sick cheatcode supported by emulator that lets you control party members making it the best version of that game, emulated it for that reason and enjoying it
Retard it's worth it for the 0 input lag alone, and 240p is displayed properly with scanlines and 480i actually looks decent without the deinterlacing. You can choose between crisp RGB for the cleanest picture or blurry composite to smooth out dithering if you want. CRT in current year is still the patrician choice for retro gaming.
>keyboard
Are you really not aware that PCs can use console controllers?
I have never encountered a bug caused by emulation other than minor graphical glitches. Most of which you wouldn't know were missing unless comparing side by side. Worst I saw was the emulator crashed at certain save points in Xenosaga.
How is perfect image quality, stable frame rates and minor loading times not a greater experience?
and what are you trying to show with an old ass code branch from 2015? Try looking at the current version if you want to make a point.
youre responding to bait user
No they aren’t. It’s why there are so many fags who think emulation sucks.
Don't know if the term underrated applies well here, but the smt games work well wits pcsx2. You may need to try out a few settings, like in nocturne, some hacks can disable action prompts (climb ladder prompt won't appear) and the shadow/clipping feet of the MC are unsolvable. But looking at nocturne, the higher resolution improves the visual experience so much, that you won't notice the minor problems.
In a further note, quicksaves are really a bliss in a game with so many instant death spells...
Other than that, these games ooze with style and atmosphere, so give it a try.
Speaking of high resolution emulation, you may want to give rumble roses a try. It has a decent tournament mode, once you are finished with the voyeur mode.
PS2 has more hidden gems than any other system, it'll take years of searching to get everything out of it.
Steambot Chronicles
Also, if you get a high end crt like a trinitron you can play newish ganes as well. And not to mention it has both interlanced and progrresive scan modes. If you hold triangle and x when the playstation 2 logo appears, some ps2 games will boot with progrresive scan mode. At the very least i can confirm re4 for the ps2 does this.
That being said, the trinitron and wegas are not so great for anything under 480. They uspcale 240 to 480; which isnt horrible but its to use an older tv for 240 content. I fucking love my wega man.
wish somone would translate Hungry Ghosts
Is this game emulated well?
>i never realized how good a library the ps2 had
That's strange considering that's what everyone says looking back at it.
Steambot Chronicles is great.
>No one brings up Metal Saga

Really, Metal Max in general I think Yea Forums would cream itself over if people knew about it more. But this is the only US release, outside of Xeno, and it's chances are one of the best to show off the charm and best features of the series. Customizable tanks.
The fucking music.
The open ended storyline with tons of different endings.
I'm playing it now on pcsx2 and didn't have any problem so far.
I'm going to laugh when you CRT fags get destroyed by cycle-accurate hardware virtualization. Oh wait, it's already happening.
Play steel lancer arena international.
the crt argument is stupid
>hurr devs meant it to be played this way
>>oh yeah theres 10000000 different crts lol that all look different
to an extent its true with older games like nes/snes, but there is no true benchmark for what 'the developer intended' considering theres a billion different models of crts out there.
Summoner 2 is really, genuinely good. However, it's a direct sequel to Summoner 1, which, barring its soundtrack, is to a much lesser extent really, genuinely good.
I don't bother with HD CRTs because 240p and 480i is what I really need. I can play ps360 on both my small 720p native TV and upscaled on my OLED. As for 480p it's a bit unoptimal not having a 480p capable CRT but I use my PC monitor for Dreamcast VGA and Gamecube, Wii and xbox on the 720p native LCD. I could always play those in 480i on the CRT too.
not a "crtfag"
but what's cycle-accurate hardware virtualization
>I didn’t realize what a good library the best console of all time had
What a dumbass
A bit off topic, but what are some PS3 games worth emulating? Already playing Demon Souls and Persona 4 Arena.
original nier
Should I play the Drakenguard games first?
Dragon's Crown is great and emulates perfectly.
Otherwise you can try if they work:
Knight's Contract, Dante's Inferno, Disgaea games, Folklore, El Shaddai, Shadows of the Damned, Hard Corps Uprising and Untold Legends come to mind for now.
No need. Even if you've played Drakengard the connections are not obvious at all.
-Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4 (i know 4 gets some serious hate here, but it has some pretty interesting concepts)
-Resident Evil Outbreak (there's a way to get the online working via japanese version; at least a hundred or so people play online still via pc)
-Ace Combat 4 5 and Zero (There used to be issues with AC4, but if you use your google fu you should be able to find the hacks that make it possible to play it in all its glory)
-Clock Tower 3
-Haunting Ground
-Rule of Rose
-Katamari Series
-God of War 1 and 2
-Black
Thats all i can think of for now.
Don't bother with PCSX2 just buy an old fat PS2 and soft mod it then install like every game for the ps2 to a 2tb hdd
Game?
So bad it's good kind of game
Timesplitters: future perfect
All the James Bond ps2 games
Burnout 3
He posted the name alongside the first webm here , anyone with a brain can tell they're the same game.
>built a PC this year and discovered emulation
>playing dozens of great games at 60 fps
The framerate increase makes even old games very playable.
The emulation community is crazy talented and I would gladly donate to a Patreon to have more people work full time on building emulators.
Most of what bridges the ending of Drakengard to Nier is explained in supplementary material, not the game itself. If you like the game and decide you want to dig deep into the world, play Drakengard and then read all that stuff, but a fresh playthrough of Nier won't be negatively impacted by having not played Drakengard at all.
Is that some Encounters in Space?
>don't play the ps3 remasters
Dumbest fucking opinion ever, there is nothing wrong with them, at all. I will gladly take the PS3's version of MGS3 over the 15-20 FPS mess that was the original game on the PS2.
I'd recommend the Dolphin versions of Timesplitters 2 and Future Perfect. Dolphin just simply runs them better, the GC version has little effects the PS2 version lacked, and last I checked, FP on PCSX2 had some visual issues.
Panzer Front Ausf.B
I thought Oogie's Revenge was pretty fun although the combat was fairly simple
How well does Persona 4 emulate on PCSX2?
Warship Gunner 2
Shinobi
Nightshade
King's Field 4
Shadow Tower: Abyss
Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song
Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
emulates greatly because you can savestate your way through dungeons and power level with the speed limiter off. the game sucks and I love that I can turn it into an anime with completely trivialized gameplay sections thanks to emulation.
played fine when i tried it like 2 years ago. i only put like 10 hours into it though. its a terrible game even by jrpg standards
What the fuck am I reading? Shadow Tower has the worst issues with weapon range of any of the King's Tower games, plus the horrific menu where you have to sit through a loading screen every time you change equipment, which you have to do all the time because of the durability system. Abyss is far better.
>jrpg standards
That's because it's not a jrpg but a visual novel.
Is the gameplay that bad? I adore Persona 5 and wanted to try the other ones.
watch the anime adaptation.
Rumble Roses
Don't worry it mostly plays like 5 but less flashy. Persona 3 has AI party members though and Tartarus is a slog.
>All these Rule of Rose recs
So which is it "a shitty game for plastic collectors" or good?
Rule of Rose was the last game I preordered, and I think a good one to go out on.
Ignore the retard. P4 is fine albeit a bit simplified.
Battles in P4 is functionally the same as 5 with a few less options (no gun, no hold-up/negotiation, fewer types of skills such as no nuclear or psychic spells, I think some of the team-up skills and other party member skills gained through confidants that 5 added at absent). The interface isn't as slick either, but it still looks good and works perfectly well. The only other real big difference gameplay-wise is that the dungeons are a series of floors comprised of randomly generated rooms and hallways, with your only objective on each floor to be finding the stairs to the next floor until you reach the midboss and then the actual boss. There's no stealth elements like taking cover and getting easy ambushes, you have to actually tiptoe up behind the shadows (which move pretty much randomly) and press the attack button to smack them. Social Links outside of your party members also don't give you skills, they're just for fusion exp (and the story).
i like jrpgs but i cant stand persona games. i dunno what you call that. skies of arcadia, lunar, grandia are my jam.
Blood Will Tell, the Raidou Kuzunoha games, Gungrave, Mr Mosquito
It's not obscure, but make sure you play Ape Escape 3. It's the greatest game of all time.

>all these supposed elitist crt faggots who never took care of their hearing already can't hear the constant high pitched squeal that all crts put off
>can hear the screech of a crt from 100 feet away and can't stand it

So what would be the beat setup for emulating Suikoden 5? It kinda hurts my eyes looking at this game right now when everything is super bright on the screen.
THIS, iirc translator that did shadow tower abyss was working on it at some point, not sure what happened.
HELP, WHY CAN'T I GET PCSX TO >WORK ON MY MACHINE?
I JUST WANT TO PLAY GAMES
1050ti, 8gigs ddr4(2400mhz?), pentium G4560. Is this somehow too shit for ps2, but not for modern games?
Playing it right now and didn't need to use any hacks or tweaks but reshade is neccesary for all games just to tweak the color and brightness or adding a touch of bloom or anti-aliasing.
Suikoden V is really bad with the brightness, they also have a transparent texture over the camera that's supposed to be a gradient but it kind of ruins the image quality at high resolution due to the low res of the texture.
Ok then, I just need to get our of this starting city with all of the bright ass fucking water and then maybe it won't hurt my eyes.
>no shadows
Honestly didn't remember that the original was lacking shadows.
no dude. Use reshade. The game is way too fucking bright and obviously designed for TV's with some weird image settings.
if you're a brainlet you can even use the inbuilt shaders in PCSX2 to tweak the brightness and contrast.
>The best way to play PS2 games is on a PS2.
yes
>PS2 emulation is abject shit and shouldn't be defended. You arent even really playing the games.
based retard
I have never used reshade before and this thing seems pretty fucking great, Why I haven't I ever used this before?
