You use a Japanese name when you play SMT games like P5, don't you? I would feel so embarrassed for you if you didn't. Imagine how much an American name would clash. That's just sad.

>he tries to give his MC a real name
what a fucking fag

Attached: 2675300-2581052304-myass.png (469x346, 326K)

wow such funny names you came up with there user, you must be the most popular kid in your middle school class

Attached: 1548648946564.jpg (295x342, 16K)

better than trying to act like a genuine japanese person by calling yourself fucking "Tetsuya Mizumi" or something stupid like that, bet you try to write your character's name in Kanji too

>SMT games like P5

besides that why the fuck would anyone just not use the default name

i always look up the canon name for them

There is no default name in SMT games like P5. Try playing one sometime.

but there is a canon name dummy

I always use "Juese Belmont".

At the time of the game's release, no there wasn't. Look it up. Yu Narukami and Makoto whatever were not established until much later.

No.

Oh, and also, there is not a canon name at all for the SMT3 guy.

BELMONT TOO COOL TO FIGHT DRACULA

talking SMT bro, SMTIV had Flynn as the canon name right off the bat and SMT2 the character had Aleph as a default name, other characters also later got canon names like Demi-fiend/Naoki Kashima

yes there is, Drama CDs called him Naoki Kashima

NIGGER

Well those are the only two games in the entire SMT series that fill in a name before you play, and that's probably only because they appear in the next game where you can't pick their name.

right because Atlus TOTALLY went in thinking "shit we have to give them a canon name right now or else our non-existent sequel won't make sense"

>Not using an American name in SJ

That's cute, you really think they didn't have the sequel planned out in advance.

He's half Japanese so you still have to use a Japanese last name.

if atlus goes into games planning sequels in advance then why didn't the other games ALSO have canon names at release user?

I use my real name.

Because they didn't plan to make sequels to those games and so those games didn't get sequels.

Oh yeah? And what would that be?

>John Doe(jima)

>calling yourself
So you're incapable of understanding that I'm not calling myself but the videogame's japanese character.
Let me guess, american?

PUT DOWN WHIP AND EQUIP SPATULA

>fictional world
>instances where the MC canonically doesn't have a japanese name
>Y-YOU HAVE TO CALL THEM SOMETHING JAPANESE BECAUSE UHHHHHH IT'S A JAPANESE GAME
let me guess, autism?

You mad, bro?

I always name my characters JC Denton.

I called mine Black Nigger

I call them whatever is canonical cause I'm that autistic.

That's why I use a finnish name :D

Well those do basically sound like Japanese names so fair enough.

>Pekka
>Jaakko
>Tero

>my surname is too long and contains two Äs
fuck you too atlus, ended up using the first letter and played P5 through as "L-kun"

>ペッカ
>ジャーッコ
>テロ

Should have just shortened it like Mahershalalhashbaz does.

The Japanese pronunciation of my name in Persona for immersion, but either my 'regular' name or nickname in SMT.

it doesn't really make any sense without the Äs anyway
it's not like I really care but just wondering why your surname can only be like 8 characters in every atlus game

It's probably because Japanese names never take more than 8 characters to write due to kanji and hiragana significantly shortening the length needed, and they don't bother recoding it for the American version. This is after all the company that cannot figure out how to do PC ports.

I named my protag slut so all the conversations started with "Hey Slut!"

I just use random Finnish/Hungarian names because their Japanese pronunciation is probably pretty hilarious

Aira Yurukiainen

>Another Persona thread.
I've still been thinking about getting it, but my only experience with JRPGs has been with, sad to say, Pokemon and the various Mario RPGs. Another thing that worries me is the real-life/dating simulator aspect of the games, but I'm sure I can bear with it.

Seconding this, Pokemon games had a similar problem when they first came out.

You don't play Japanese games do you? I would feel so embarrassed for you if you did.

I just use the official name.
I only use my own name if there's actual character creation involved.

You don't hate Japanese games on a weeb site do you? I would feel so embarrassed for you if you did.

If you want to get into Persona, consider which part you're playing for more, the JRPG aspect or the dating sim bullshit.
Persona 5 has the most depth, but it's also the easiest, and combat/dungeon crawling only makes up about 30-40% of the game.
Persona 3 is probably next in terms of depth, is much more difficult, and the combat/dungeon crawling is about two thirds of the game.
Persona 4 is basically just an ezmode dating sim If you're playing Golden
P1 and P2 are quite different, being 100% dungeon crawler RPGs with no dating sim bullshit. But they're also older and haven't aged brilliantly.

Don't worry, it's nowhere near as obnoxious as the fanbase would lead you to believe. And as far as difficulty goes, there's so much leeway with the dating sim aspect that people who use a guide actually fuck themselves over because they're left with a month or two of nothing to do.

Also, why are there so many Finnish people who play Persona games? What's going on here?

It should also be mentioned that they removed all of P3's difficulty in P3P by getting rid of the fatigue system. P3 is the only modern Persona game that is even remotely difficult because I guess they must have gotten a lot of complaints about it and pandered towards those people because they realized they had a money making machine on their hands.

>Nothing to do
>Not spending that whole time working out at the gym

Oh yeah, when I wrote that I was thinking of FES. P3P is actually pretty easy. Still found it harder than P5 though.

how would rank the difficulty of each game?

Charlie Tunoku

I WILL

P1>P3>P2>P4>>>P3P>P5>P4G

I always use the canon name, unless it sounds autistic or there isn't one, in which case I use Taro Tanaka.

I got a little concerned in the Casino Palace.

Based

Thanks for the info, I'll probably stick with P5 for now and then gradually get into the other titles when I can.
Well that's good to hear, that's the part I was worried about the most.
>And as far as difficulty goes, there's so much leeway with the dating sim aspect that people who use a guide actually fuck themselves over because they're left with a month or two of nothing to do.
I guess that's why they tell you to take your time.

If you're starting with P5 pretend the difficulty options below Normal don't exist. Normal in P5 is about on par with Easy mode in P3 and P4, it's never challenging.

I don't get it, if you're not interested in the dating stuff, why not just go right into SMT and ignore Persona entirely?

Yes, I called him Ren Amamiya like it's meant to be

Regardless of setting, Japanese game or western game, if you can name your character, I without fail, always name them DICKS

>Start P3 and pick Ken after looking up nip names because it sounds western but means Strength
>Have to restart when I meet Ken because autism

>Start P4G and pick Kanji because I'm lazy and figure calling my dude basically Alphabet won't have any conflicts
>Restart AGAIN

>Start P5 and literally give up on jap names, call my boy Morgan because I just finished FE: Awakening and liked it
>quit three palaces in as my autism about Morgana grew too strong

I honestly hate myself

Just name your character Sans Undertale

>P3: Randy Savage
>P4: Kenpachi Ramasama
>P5: canon name

You know, I think I used to have more fun.

SMT and Persona are pretty different in terms of gameplay, themes, and characters. It's not like Persona is just "SMT with dating sim".

Why are you pretending to be a weeb? If you were a weeb you would know that Persona 5 is unrelated to SMT and a spinoff of MT. In Japan they don't have the SMT title, it was only added outside of Japan to sell more copies.

When it comes to Persona games I just look up the manga/anime name for the MC

wait why do people call the MC Joker then. I haven't played P5 I thought your character is preset

It's his codename

First run I used my real name
second run I went with Euzeth Gozzo for some odd ass reason

Is that Japanese enough for you, user?

Attached: That'sMyName.png (610x351, 215K)

Do you people actual self insert as asian LOL

I alweys jus mei own name: Rainer Winkler

I named him Guy Fieri.
