>games like EU IV look interesting as fuck
>can't pull through the learning curve of the game
anyone else know this feel?
Games like EU IV look interesting as fuck
click to select a nation
pls
i really want to be able to enjoy this genre
>finally decided to learn how to play this shit
>started with CK2 because /vg/ told me it's the easiest
>after a few days can finally kinda play it without being completely lost
>played for 3 weeks and moved on
>decided to get back into it several months later
>forgot literally everything
Fuck
Just don't go into the game and think that you will "win" in the first time. Learning by burning.
You will learn it, the curve isn't too bad if you just expect to lose a bit
It's really not that hard. You'll have to beat your head into a wall a few times for about a day, but once you finally figure out where all the fucking buttons are then you can start actually getting good at the game.
Just play England or something.
Power through nigger, it took me like two weeks before remembering where that button that did the thing i wanted took less than a full minute, maybe find someone to baby you in MP if you can't be arsed.
You shouldn't start with EUIV.
First of all, it's worse than 3.
Second of all, if I were you I would start with Victoria 2.
When you really get into any of these games, they're not all that deep.
I have hundreds of hours in Hearts of Iron 3, and honestly got pretty primed like 20 hours in if that.
But Vicy 2, that's a relatively simple game and if you wanted to go into deeper games you'd already have a good idea.
>learning curve
>gsg
How brainlet can you be?
>play CK2
>have no clue what im doing so I just rp as a Chad who marries his niece and impregnates dozens of side bitches
What else is there to do in this game
the only real way to learn is to play the game ignore the YT shitters who're gonna waffle on, Trial & error my dude
i mean the basics are you need "monarch points" to earn research & ideas these are the sword, bird & book icon points which are important because you may lose and/or need to spend them on random / historical events
And leaderless armies are just lambs to the slaughter
>not marrying your sister, impregnating her and then impregnating your daughter and granddaughter
Maybe watch a tutorial to get the barebones idea of the game and then bash your head against it until you win.
How can you be that garbage as Spain?
>1821
>100k manpower
>0 ships
>north africa is visibly non-spanish
What did you do
i never claimed to be good also this is base game EU4 so the blue blob is a constant cunt to deal with
Just pirate the DLC my man
EU4 is a badly designed blobbing simulator. Its difficulty is solely due to its non-intuitive UI design and beyond that features nothing but lacklustre gameplay supplemented by an absurdly long list of DLCs. If you want a real grand strategy game, I highly recommend Victoria 2™, a much shorter game compared to the slew that is EU4 but also much more enjoyable. It has a simple, easy to grasp UI, a working population system, and meaningful gameplay mechanics such as factories and taxes which influence and are influenced by real-time population demands that are missing in EU4 (featuring instead what could be only described as 'push button to receive points').
Step 1: Buy all the DLC + all the unit packs + whatever else there may be
Step 2: Select the Ottomans or France
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Profit!
does it have the same amount of freedom that EU offers? i'd love to create imaginary kingdoms with my own vassals, deciding how my government is formed and all that
With a single mod you can manipulate elections in order to trigger a coup for different forms of politically-radical governments (communist, fascist, etc.), if that's what you're wishing for, then yes. Other than that, Victoria 2 still has some degrees of realism compared to EU4. If you're looking to create a meme kingdom then look no further than CK2, which not only has a much more functional UI than EU4 but also offers the features you are looking for.
all interest is lost once you know how to play, trust me
>buy
you aint tricking anyone
>Paradox shit
Here is a hot tip I learned. Increase autonomy to shut down rebellions
Just look at a Lets play on YouTube, once you get the basics down you learn as you go
