holy fuck, how will he ever recover?
I think I got the very basics down. Anyone mind explaining the shit on the top left to me? Apparently it's super important since it turned my shitty 1000 point hand into a 12k one.
>costs money to play in silver
>daily reward for playing in silver room is the same as in bronze room
what a mistake
the dora indicator
it indicates that the next tile in the sequence is a dora
a dora increases the value of a hand by one han per dora in your hand
red 5s are red doras but can be worth another dora if they are the dora
kanning adds another dora indicator
silver lets you farm bond points and gifts
dora indicators. the shiny tiles you see gives you extra points if you have them in your winning hands
Sweet. Are they just the same as whatever shows up on the top left so I can plan out for them?
>East 2
>paypig held on to a tile which would have ended with him being triple ronned
The stick with 1 dot is how many riichi bets (1000 points each) are in the pot. When a round draws after a riichi, that player's riichi stick stays in the pot for whoever wins next. The stick with 8 dots is just the honba counter, it gets added to in a draw or when the dealer wins, and a win is worth 300 extra points for each honba counter. It resets to zero after a normal non-dealer win
say 8 pin shows up, that means 9 pin is the dora.
Mahjong is clearly the most popular sport in the world now. What we need is a new board devoted entirely to mahjong.
Next in sequence. if the indicator is a 9. 1 is the dora. N>E>S>W>N/ Wh>G>R>Wh
/vg/ general when? or should we use the one at /jp/?
>>costs money to play in silver
what the fuck
the game didn't even tell me
you get welfare money every day if you drop below a certain amount anyways, so you'll never be permanently locked out
The dora is the NEXT tile after the one shown in the top left.
So if it is 1-pin, then the dora is 2-pin, if it's 9-man, then the dora's 1-man.
For winds/dragons the order is White > Green > Red and East > South > West > North.
There's also Ura (hidden) Dora which is only opened and used if someone wins by riichi and you can't really plan for it.
There's daily welfare for adept and up. Imagine collecting welfare to spend on gambling though.
It costs bronze which you should have a ridiculous amount of
If you run out you get a free daily welfare check of them
yo-star are the same guys behind Azur Lane, right? How far are they planning to go with this game without making it outright p2w? Just cosmetic collectibles and such? Maybe an actual story and side-quests?
You get coins back depending on your place/game points though. Getting 2nd place is usually just enough to offset the entry price (I think it's 500 coints in Silver, higher in Gold and above). First place gets you enough coins for 3-4 tickets. 4th place makes you lose quite a lot (~3 ticket prices at least, more if you lose hard in negatives).
i had a lot of luck this game, gg all
Yostar is a publisher.
Probably just cosmetics, I heard there's an event on CN right now, maybe someone here knows what that's about
thanks for letting me win by 100 points catbro, GGs.
I can't take that gg at face value
I was terrible this match
How do you know which wind round you're on? I only see East 1-4 on the middle.
East.
The developer is Cat Food Studio, yo-star are just publishing it
It happens, I got face crushed feeding into hands trying to come back from that double ron in the first match
Does that ever change? I know the seat one does with every round, but what about the prevailing wind or whatever?
All four seats rotate counter clockwise every round, unless the dealer wins. The prevailing wind changes from East to South once East rotates back to the first player.
> The prevailing wind changes from East to South once East rotates back to the first player.
It does? I've never noticed it change.
Prevailing wind is whatever it says it is in the middle.
>mfw tilted and lost 300 points
wasn't sure i could in this game. but when you deal into a yakuman with a 5000 point lead things get hairy
i didn't know little four winds could be open
Alright lads, I'm hooked. Throw me your best Mahjong animu be it because it's funny, it has oh shit moments or cute girls. Preferably 24 episodes or shorter.
Mahjong is a scary game.
>-222
Congrats on getting into jade
What's your dan on tenhou?
>points get chunked by tsumos
>riichi and deal into a dama mangan
>daigyakuten hand gets trashed by a 1k hand
>end up going negative after contesting another dora bomb hand later and getting ippatsu ronned on my tsumogiri
>-2500 coppers
what a nice first experience in the Silver room
3dan was the highest I ever got.
Jade seems to have that same skill ceiling I wasn't able to overcome to get to 4dan.
You just answered your own question. Unless you you mean seat wind. That one indicated on your side of the table.
if you play hag kys you are self
Well only if you're queuing for full south games, if you do "east" it ends after east 4.
Jesus Christ. How fucking long are those games? It usually takes 45 min for an East match to finish.
>It usually takes 45 min for an East match to finish.
No it doesn't, what the fuck
Depends on whether you play East(1 round) or south (2 rounds starting with east, then goes to south). There is also an additional case where a new round starts if everyone is below 30k points. So East round can go to South and South round can go to West
How the fuck do you make an account on this bullshit? Just keeps verification failing me when I put in the email code.
highlight it properly, don't triple click
I just use the login with twatter option with a dummy twatter I use for logins and nothing else.
>get dealt shit hands
>some gay cat tsumos while im dealer
>everyone tanyao spam rest of the match
>end up 4th
wow what a skill based game
It takes 45 min for East when it goes into South because nobody had enough points
>Kan something
>It instantly becomes full dora
Is this the meaning of true luck ?
Guess I'm done with this image. Go to sleep.
Like all gambling, Mahjong's only skill-based over long stretches of time.
Even then, a few of the more prominent players play with house rules to make it more fun (no discarding dora, no discarding honors and terminals early on just so you can spam tanyao, no riichi with weird waits).
All I can really suggest is to hold onto your dragons to counter yakuhai spam and go for ~mangan-level hands to counter the tanyao spam. I've won tons of spammy rooms like that. You'd be amazed how much more it slows down your opponent when you hold onto their dragon than when you discard it. Plus, if you have 1 dragon and they have 2, and you decide to tanki-wait on the last one, you usually win way bigger than they do.
>Even then, a few of the more prominent players play with house rules to make it more fun (no discarding dora, no discarding honors and terminals early on just so you can spam tanyao, no riichi with weird waits).
Sounds literally impossible to enforce.
>no riichi with weird waits
I can understand the reasoning for the others, but why this?
It's some old nip fart's mahjong club's rules
p-please respond
akaig
I find it curious that this ancient board game shares the one Achilles Heel of all games, be them board or vidya, from the Orient:
They're needlessly fucking convoluted and complicated.
>sitting in first place in the last round
>im dealer
>2nd and 3rd place arent far behind
>4th place is desperately trying to make an open tanyao for some reason as quickly as possible
>deal into it on purpose
>1000 points
>game ends
>im still first place
it's really about as complicated as your regular old card game
>ancient
It's not even 200 years old
nerf dora
nerf red 5
>deal into it on purpose
How do you know which tiles he needs?
if it were any more simple, it wouldn't be nearly as much fun
just guessing based off his discards, it took a few tries
best you can do is deal dangerous tiles
2-8 of any set, probably ones that haven't been seen
>eastern vidya
>ever even vaguely complicated
?????
They're literally all the simple as shit. Maybe not western AAA tier simple but still borderline mindnumbing.
how else am i going to get mangen?

People have this tendency to wait for the 5 if they can because they hold hope it's a red five.
oh boy I finally got it
wish me luck
>just got a random shitty gift worth 5 star dust
amazing
it just happens anyway
>deal into a ron there would be no way of knowing about
>over and over and over
cool
You should probably be folding earlier and more often if this is what's happening to you
then someone gets a tsumo and i'm behind anyway
the only time i win is when i get absurd luck too
I'd completely be ok with this as a compromise for not posting the same general on Yea Forums but not having to put up with the degenerate waifu fappers and pedos of /vg/
What's the appeal of this manga?
I can't imagine many things more boring than fictional gambling
I would unironically use this
Read it and find out, fampai.
>everybody besides you declared riichi in the first 10 moves
HELP
H E L P
You pay less for tsumo and everybody gets behind, tard
Call Riichi to end the round in a draw.
For me, it's Washizu's suffering.
What do the spheres do? Is it just more bonding points?
>folding
how do you do this?
you need specific ones to unlock the 5bond costume
I see, thanks.
learn what furiten is and figure out how to apply it
How do I get more characters other than the first one (chick with big tits)?
Just look up general defense stuff, "folding" is when you give up on actually completing your hand and only discard defensively so someone either tsumos or (ideally) someone else deals in and you lose no points.
The easy way is to just discard stuff already discarded by the person you're folding against, but it gets a little more complicated once you run out of 100% safe tiles like that.
"Folding" in mahjong just means to attempt only discarding safe tiles even if you dismantle your hand. Look up "betaori".
>One tile away for 5 rotations
>Someone RONs on you
what the fuq is 5 rotations
5 travels around the board
Akagi is easily the most quality
Saki is good if you just want to watch more mah jong but you've already seen akagi
Legendary Gambler Tetsuya is good, but a little dated. Still worth a watch.
If you're reading, The Legend of Koizumi / Mudazumo Nai Kaikaku is great, and one of the later Kaiji arcs is mah jong focused.
>cat wins because the hidden dora tile gives her 5 points
yeah, real "deserved" win there, nfucking cats
thanks for the double call into ron, GGs.
welcome to gambling
>4 tile wait for getting to tenpai
>This is your new home forever
>click wrong tile by accident
>ron called on it
>last round
>person pulls into first off it
I've never felt so retarded in my life
Is the game more or less luck-based than poker? I feel like I have agency, but it might as well just be dazzled by the novelty.
The gods of Mahjong favored them that game. There's nothing you can do about it other than just not lose until the flow comes back to.
Riichi Mahjong? Hell yes. Dora make it so much more luck based on who gets how many points.
About the same as online poker, less than actual poker.
It's not about the gambling unlike stuff like Kirinji, the author uses the game as a mean to talk about death and human flaws
>Sounds literally impossible to enforce.
Online, yeah. Not in person.
It's to add some restrictions to riichi. At high levels of play, riichi's the new open tanyao - people spam it constantly. Mangans are the most efficient hand and the easiest way to get them is riichi + tanyao + menzen + a dora / uradora. Riichi just needs a few nerfs, and nerfing the quality of waits and shit makes it harder to get.
>some old nip fart
the guy has movies made about him
I'm a bit tired of these cat zergs and the second/third places. They instantly know I'm not their kind probably because of the normally capitalized roman alphabet name and unite against my dealer turn to shit out the fastest round ender possible.
>look for any tile sets that I don't have to import from fuck knows where
>the only online stores that are in the business have the same 3 sets
>none of which have any descriptions, pictures apart from the case itself, nor any info on the manufacturer
I guess it's all the same. All my friends are ADD normies anyway.
One game is based on luck, 10 games is based on skill.

This saddens me. But I guess I'll feel no shame quitting once the honeymoon is over then.
>At high levels of play, riichi's the new open tanyao - people spam it constantly
Which is why you pay 1000 points before you use it. If you want to restrict riichis, just increase their cost.
Restricting the waits feels like it would affect strategies too much.
Got a fabled turn 2 Riichi and it was an ippatsu to boot, but it had no dora so it only gave me enough points to tie second place, so it stuck me in third.
Even my wins are losses. Fuck.
I don't see how, it'd be impossible to enforce anywhere.
FUCK HONOR TILES
Riichi is risky. You shouldn't riichi with both a bad wait and a bad value.
Who bitch dis is?
>but it had no dora so it only gave me enough points to tie second place
What the fuck were you expecting? This is why you are supposed to calculate your hand value beforehand.
>level:ultragod
>start game
>feel like I'm going to get 4th before the first hand is even finished being given out
>get 4th place without getting into tenpai and without getting ronned
I-I'm reading the flow guys
It's not like he could have improved the hand, except by drawing a red 5 or something. Riiching here and hoping for reverse dora is the only thing to do.
I'm not at my desktop anymore but I have a pic of the YMI set from Amazon an anom posted earlier
I also have a good pic of an Amos Gabin set, which you can import for about $10 more than the YMI after shipping. If you'll be here in 10-11 hours I'll post them, I've been lurking these threads non-stop since they started so just gimme a hollar tomorrow and I'll post them for you
Just don't play East-only (tonpusen, tonpu). Everyone is a dealer only once and it's like the buffet where you eat all you want but just for 10 minutes.
Play Hanchans (South). This way usually all the speedy twinks got punished by solid game, especially if it's not three of them vs one you - meaning better rooms than bronze and probably silver. You'll sill feel a lot of "they are gathering too fast they are lucky" although you yourself lack efficiency and so retarded shit like kokushi from starting 7 terminals and honors or toitoi from three pairs.
I got scared and panicked, ok. The ron button popped up and I slammed that motherfucker, but unfortunately that guy that dealt my tile was the guy already in 4th.
I should have waited for first or second to deal it, I know that.
I would say it's around the same level as poker. In both games luck affects things a lot in short term, but if you're a good player you WILL climb over time. Riichi's whole defense game via furiten adds a ton of skill and lets you play patient and defensively much like poker.
Wouldn't Mahjong technically be under /tg/?
>last place with 15k
>3rd place cat riichis
>complete 2 open triplets into kan by chance
>open yakuhai 1dora trash hand turns into yakuhai 5dora haneman
>ron off the guy in riichi
>he goes minus I get 2nd place
heh nothing personal
You would have been in furiten had you passed on that ron after calling riichi, so unfortunately there's not much you could have done
Not entirely sure how that helps me, chief. I googled how the YMI set looks and surely enough, it's nothing like the one my country has up for grabs. Maybe you also missed the part where I pretty clearly implicated that I'm not in the US, so YMI shipping won't work unless I slap a 40 euro bonus for Amazon.
>only ever deal into low 2000 point hands
>never richii into my waits
>rival tsumos always occur when I'm dealer
Literally cursed, lads. Did my ancestors piss on some chinaman or something?
Can somebody explain how the stats work? How do I increase the attack and defence stats? Also 70% call rate, Past 5 games I don't remember pressing pon/chi that much
pro tip: don't give away the game information for free. If you don't need the 2345 form anymore, drop 2 not 5. Same, if you have to choose between a tile and a dora neighbor keep the dora neighbor, even if it steals one of the yaku from you. Have extra pair to drop? Pick the one which is from the popular dropped tiles, not the rare ones. Don't give away information about doras and reds for free, and about the rarer suit in the game. Middle-game you'll notice how one particular suit is the rarest while one or two of the others are not. Abuse this, this helps to predict which form in your hand has more chances to grow into the complete sequence.
>It's a Kanigger gives some other guy free dora then get ronned episode
Other guy went from last to first on a dealer streak with back to back 3-5 turn tenpais too and I had to settle for 2nd by virtue of not dealing in
hover over the stats and it tells you
To raise ATK, get a good amount of points from winning. To raise DEF, you need to not get called by other players for your tile.
The question mark button will tell you everything.
>9 points away from adept 3
>play 10 games
>389 points away from adept 3
help
>You would have been in furiten had you passed on that ron
Only for that round of discards.
didn't catch that, yeah
just import a set off amazon jp if shipping will hit you anyways
Nope, Furiten is permanent after calling Riichi.
>he doesn't have 100 luck
Git gud lmoa
forgot picture
red fives are the foundation of mahjong
Why is there never any rooms to watch bros?
Didn't know that. That's pretty stupid though.
i hate this rule
if ive got 55 66 7 and i riichi and a 4 pops up i have to take it even though i really want the 7 otherwise im stuck in furiten
I finished Akagi anime yesterday, that was a bit out of nowhere
read the manga from where it leaves off, it goes hard right out the gate with crazy shit
The manga finished in 2017. The end of the anime is a reference to Ten, the original manga of the author that finishes Akagi's story (and his magnum opus)
if you go up from adept to master or whatever, can you get demoted back down?
You can still win by Tsumo if you're in furiten.
i know but its still annoying
Why can't I just buy characters
I dont wanna waste money on the chance to get anyone not Nadeshiko
you can only watch friend rooms
the spirit of mahjong is to lose all your money to rng, now go whale out user
when are we getting the app
when are we getting the 1st chapter of mamiya
don't you hate it when you know someone's waiting on the honor you're about to discard but it can't be helped because not dropping it would slow your hand down way too much to justify
fucking half-flush bitch stop ponning my shit
The rule is really important for defense, furiten in all its forms is what lets better players keep their points instead of the whole game being an RNG clusterfuck.
in that situation i suppose its fair, if i riichi i cant wait for the 7 unless im betting on tsumo but i get +1 han from the riichi anyway
if i dont riichi i can wait for the 7 and get +1han from iipeikou
if im lucky ill get them both with riichi and ron on a 7
>hags 0 nya 1

This game makes me furious.
the moon runes client look so much more cleaner than the english client
why can't they give us an option to let us use that UI
Yeah, the idea is you can choose to wait for your more valuable tile if you want but you have to tsumo once you pass on something so nobody else is at fault for it.
What's different?
real chinaman hours
what are you drinking nyaggers
teach me about the currency system in this game.
I know i can do quest for bronze,
and i can use bronze to play higher level rooms to receive gifts, which is for what?
gifts are to increase bond with your waifu to unlock skins/emotes/voicelines for her, or you break them down for another currency that lets you buy a chance at getting a new waifu
silver room and above give you chests which contain gifts.
you can lose copper in silvers.
sliver games also increases your bond level with waifus.
am I seriously the only one that cant log in to the English client?
I just woke up, so this?
The fuck do these spheres in the shop do? Just another bond item?
Yes, Just use Google login
>consistently get 98-100% on efficiency trainer
>usually can get to tenpai pretty quickly
>in actual game get shit draws non stop and take forever to get to tenpai most of the time
is the efficiency trainer a meme
so how do i get my first waifus?
I can't use bronze to summon right?
other players are hoarding the efficient tiles too
the tiles the other players have has no effect on what i draw in either the game or the efficiency trainer
yes
>throw a single sou because I have 1 total
7 out of the next 10 discards are sou
technically you can
You can buy gifts with bronze, donate the gifts from your items page to get star dust, and buy a summon scroll with 50 star dust
it'll take a while tho, one basic bitch gift costs 15k copper and sells for 1 dust
heh.. yeah i totally have coppers left that i could spend.. didnt lose them all yet or anything
Play Jap server, and join us ranked in gold room. Jap server (and CN one) can still participate in any friendly matches. You'll have a much harder time trying to get to the gold room though.
>15k copper and sells for 1 dust
so you mean i need 15k x 50 = 750k bronze to get a random waifu?
yes
>discard tile n because it's the only one of the suit
>get tile n +/- 1
>discard that one
>get tile n +/- 2
every fucking time
you can watch tenhou games
tenhou.net
install the plugin (chrome store if you use chrome) for english
just click guest login and then the arrows untl you see spectate
well that's actually for a 5% chance for one
don't be dumb
save up for the 75k gifts
>to get a 5% at a random waifu
>Discard a tile I have no pair for
>Immediately draw that tile's pair
Wait, so i need to play for days after days after days after days just to have a 5% chance to try on having a waifu?
what's the different?
and i can only buy 2 each?
>the tiles the other players have has no effect on what i draw in either the game
you realize the fact that the other player has a tile means there is one less of that tile you can draw?
>discard haku
>draw haku next 2 turns
WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME
>this happens 2 more times
Get absolutely nyaned on payfags
75k 5 dust output
15k 1 dust output
they are exactly the same, except with saving you are missing out of the free copper for bums, which is 9k in gold room, and even 4,5k of silver is ok too
you can turn on other player draws in the efficiency trainer if you didnt realise
make im red ear bows with bells and I'll repost that dumb face till I dead
>only 2
what happens when you lose all your copper, use your revival tokens, lose your revival copper, and are expert rank or above? can you even play the game?
>except with saving you are missing out of the free copper for bums, which is 9k in gold room, and even 4,5k of silver is ok too
need explanation on this.
Sounds like you should consider selficide.
user there's only 4 of each tile, you can only discard it 4 times
and your point is?
you can still play bronze or with us
If you fucked up to sense a pairs round early, go toitoi with the tanyao possibility open but be aware enemies are getting lots of pairs too. So try to not deal in with a stray live wind.
i didnt think you could play bronze as expert
bronze is novice+adept only
I guess buy copper or wait until you can use revival again
I meant you draw a 1 pin, have no 1 pins so you discard it, then you draw another 1 pin, so you discard that, then next you draw a 4 sou, but have no 4 sou, so you discard it, and then draw another 4 sou, and then after that you draw a 5 pin, but you have no 5 pin, so you discard it, and then draw a 5 pin.
Continue for entire game.
I'm also a fan of having a tanyao hand, and drawing literally nothing but honors and terminals.
whats YOUR point? as i said previously, it doesnt affect whether i get good or bad draws
There's no difference between drawing 10 tiles chosen randomly from a pool of 40 tiles and drawing 10 tiles from a pool of 10 tiles chosen randomly from a pool of 40 tiles.
>get into silver and btfo everyone with dora bombs and cheapo hands

what the fuck is this?
event tab, there's (4,5k silver room 9k gold room 18k master room) every day if you are under this certain amount. Basically you absolutely go and blow your copper on green gifts if you have 15k+, on a random one if you dust them or on the gems for the girl and cookies for the catgirl if you are feeding them.
What was that manga/anime called that was like Akagi but shonenshit? Something with Zero I think.
Tobaku Haoden Zero
there's only Quest and revival token (for Adept rank & above) for me in event tab.
His esl ass talks about the revival tokens.
ive been getting ronned all morning
what should i do?
Try to hermione instead.
God I fucking loved Zero, I'm a sucker for National Treasure-esque themes so Part 2 was amazing
>Quests taking 12 hours to refresh
Don't they know the absolute basics of freemium game management?
How are you supposed to keep a playerbase addicted if the quests don't refresh every 3 hours, forcing you to be constantly in game not to "waste" opportunities?
Big Three Bad Dragons
>using a 4 quads draw to bail out of an absolute ponfest
I bet they think it was an accident.
would it be so funny if someone drew the cat being fucked by 3 big dragons lol?
just as a joke haha, i think it'd be hilarious
I like how big three daddies can grab a random scum to their drunk party and it still will be lit.
they must be retarded
Anyone has the pic of someone watching Akagi before and after learning mahjong?
The guy who discarded the green dragon will never make that mistake again.
>damn, red and white? well there's no way he'll have green too
oh come on
maybe he riichi'd before the pon on red and white
Oh my fucking God. I became so addicted to this game and now they cut off the fucking WiFi. How do I play this game from mobile?
HE CAN'T WAIT ON IT
you use browsers, they recommend chrome and ff
3 whole games and I always get cucked when I'm about to complete the hand
feelsbad
Kemono Mahjong in the app store.
I just played a game where I ended up with 600 points. I didn't deal into a hand once, it was exclusively through losing my riichi sticks, noten penalty, and getting tsumo'd nine times.
It doesn't load
*skips your turn-nya*
>start match
>player on my left just tsumo every round in 4-6 turns

Can somebody explain what is exactly dora and hidden dora?
>can feel the chinese anger through my screen angry at why I would even use a hand like that
Being a cat is glorious
You see that shit on the top left? That's a dora indicator. Each dora
ah whatever I'm too tired, someone else will explain
dora = extra points
dora = next tile in sequence
dora = shiny
One of the things I didn't quite get about the rules of Mahjong is that the option to Pon or Chi isn't always available. Is there a specific criteria for those moves?
Pic related is what I used to play. It's a flash I managed to download with a FF extension. I stopped months ago, I just wanted to understand this to get some peace of mind.
chi is only useable if they're on your left
pon should always be doable unless you're in riichi
chi is always the wind to your left, pon is anyone
Finally got expert 3 today with a bombastic yakuman win (my first on MJS). How is your day going user?
I need 8 more points to get out of nyavice
what the.
Was there a japanese language setting?
Got it. Thank you.
the tile flipped in the top left indicates the next tile in the sequence is worth a big point, or han. The ura dora (hidden dora) is revealed when a player who has called Riichi wins their hand. Bear in mind though, having han =/= having yaku. Sequences for dora, unlike sequenced sets, DO loop 9 back to 1. The honor sequences are ESWNE, same as the table/rounds, and the dragons are RWGR. Hope that helps. Also hope I'm not messing anything up, I'm really tired. Please doublecheck me.

>fresh out of novice

Is there some kind of separate mmr or am I just that unlucky
I'm getting matched with 2-3 adepts as a novice still
>adept 1
>getting matched against 2 experts
>they lose to the other adept player
>no character sounds all of a sudden
What's going on?
And I've probably got ronned 3 times overall.
You shouldn't worry about rank so much, besides if they only doing lower ranked matches they prob shitters who are out of coins
you muted them in options?
Nope, there's nothing muted.
There's also a priority order when multiple people are calling. I think it's ron = ron > kan > pon > chi.
You muted the tab
>Cat Food Studio
Really makes you nyank.
nope, think it might be a bug with the game since other audio comes out. I'll try emptying the cache.
>1 more win for promotion
>hit with 2 sanbaiman in the first row of discards
>hit with a yakuman round 1 the next game

maybe I should have just taken a break after the first one.
> guy in 4th place rons
> tanyao
> still in 4th place
> match ends
ok
That's how I've been, just got my first win but am down 150 points.
can you demote from adept back to novice? what about once you get stars within adept can you lose them?
No
oh hey cool. item summon got me something
NOOOOO I WAS MEANT TO SUMMON HER TODAY
You just have to lose 6 games in a row
Consider this: people who play in rooms below their 'norm' get way less points for wins (1-2 places), and lose a lot more points for losses (3-4 places), so they really stand to gain nothing from playing there. The only reason they do it is because they eat shit in their own rooms, desperately trying to escape to rooms with 'easier players', not understanding that they are the problem, not the players around them.
I'm getting closer to Jade, but so far, every single Master I've seen in Gold room has been a complete shitter who ended up in negatives.
>tfw spent almost 100$ trying to get her
>instead get ToPpU iDoRu KaNa-ChAn DeEeEs!
Poor cat.
he ended up winning the whole thing
Some poor fuck getting double ronned first hand. I hit 7 dora, lel.
Thank you anons. It helped.
I tried getting into it but it's too long the rules are too complicated aaaaaaa
Just do whatever feels right
I'm not in furiten if the tile that I discarded got pon'd by another player, right?
just press the button whenever they appear
WRONG
Their unique rons cheapen the moment a bit. To be honest multiple ron on tenhou sounds way more vicious. Literally like in the record scratch pasta, a tiny _delay you already know from another functionality prepares you -oh shit is a double ro- and then two perfectly aligned voices go RON. Fugg
can you get multiple points for red fives?
Or can you only get 1 point each hand regardless of how many red fives you have?
user here
Okay, thanks to you I just purchased the 30 USD 1800+1800 and got 19 useless presents and a yellow fucking tile back.
red fives are just dora, stack em up boy

it'll just "click" eventually and then I'll become a mahjong god right guys?

"kan > pon" doesn't make any sense since they can never compete.
I had to turn my phone horizontal to get it to load

All these fucks are now in silver, there was none a week ago, I had no time playing and now I'm back to the hell I thought I escaped!
At least now you have just enough faith for the wishing stones to upgrade the cat and the fat, they need 10 each.

>Come back from 20k points behind by spamming tanyaos and finishing off with a sanbaiman to knock the previous 1st place into the negative
Get that pleb shit out of here.
there's no reason you can't keep closed a yaku that's allowed open.
You can set it for friendly rooms.
Yeah and the wishing stones are the hardest mat to get. You need to roll the dust gacha 10 times. Although once you max bond the character her battle exp accumulates into blue gift which is dustable so there's no difference on how you manage your gifts, dust and then bond or bond and then dust however it's only about the gifts which are not cookies (catgirl) or gems (fattats), because they give 150% bond to them.
>call rate 80%
Lower that to around 30% and you should be halfway there.
The only 10 wishing stones I have are from Soul Enlightener, I don't think you can get any more welfare wishing stones unless you get a duplicate character. I'm keeping those 10 just in case I get Yui, because she's the only one I really want to upgrade. Currently I have Kana almost at 5, but I'm definitely not wasting those 10 wishing stones on her special form. ;_;
Catbros are just misunderstood high IQ players

Check this one it should show those faith bird things in the quantity of your roll count
If you pay someone more than you win that's not a great sign
>special form
wait, there's special form for characters?
What do they look like?
Oh right, forgot that you can also buy wishings through these. I currently have 56 faiths, but knowing my shit luck I'm prepared to end up with 150 of these without hitting Yui - so I'd rather keep stocking them up while holding on to welfare wishing stones, unless I magically get Yui while on the way there.
I really dread the chance of getting Nadeshiko. I hate her stupid fucking face, voice and overall type of personality so much, she literally tilts me in games, and I ended up turning off her FUCKING STUPID VOICE AAAAAAARGH. Thinking about the prospect of seeing HER during summons makes me shudder. If that happens, I'll at least attempt dropping yostar's support an email asking whether they can disenchant her into wishing stones for me.
Man look how fucking round these are.
I just played against a player that had a lot of voice lines, pretty cute.
what book can i read to git gud?
Unlike you.
Fucks sake...
if the nyagger who double ron'd the pink hair girl in round one is here
GG, close fight, i almost got you..
1st chapter? Will there be a story mode or something?
what is that revival thing for?
If i'm not novice and i lost, i can't play anymore?
Keep in mind that you get 10 'free' wishing stones by spending a bit of USD. You're going to need real money to get the faith birds anyway, but you won't need to spend those faith birds on wishing stones if you only need to 'upgrade' one character - those 10 welfare wishing stones would be enough.
That shit still can save you by getting you a nyanpai
If you get 3-4 places in Silver room and above, you lose copper which is required to play. If you get below a certain point, you can get a welfare check for some coppers every day.
I spent all my coppers on cat food for authentic Kaiji experience.
>tfw when you get cucked out of a ryuuiisou by a 2000 point hand

Nyangan!
When am I supposed to Kan?
Never.
They made the girls a bit extreme overall, I also have certain ones who are a too much for me. Good thing riichi is all about growing an iron hide so I guess they help us?..
which character
when you feel like the game hasn't been exciting enough
reminder that playing the nyagger style as hag makes people really confused
>with deception, you shall make war
- sun tzu, prince of palestine
closed kan while you riichi, right before you riichi on the same turn and rarely to fish out a tenpai out of the dead wall but you really need to know what you are doing.
>you will never watch Akagi for the first time again
Just end me bros
>Ron'd a chink first round so hard nigga quit the room
It was just a baiman but fuck if that wasn't satisfying as shit.
Newfag here
Can I roll as a F2P? I want that redhead maid
When you know the answer to the question "How does this benefit me?". Please note that "This will potentially grow that 3rd place fag's hand and make him nuke the 1st place fag for more" may or may not be a valid answer too.
I don't give a shit about paid chars but man if that ice riichi isn't effective.
Technically yes. Don't expect to roll anything ever.
it honestly wasnt even that good, final battle dragged on like something out of dbz
what does advanced mean when you create a room?
it's the system to get those 1k games per year tenhou fags to play here instead. So they make it so they won't fuck off after a hundred of games.
cats can't join
i feel like i get lucky but i have no idea how to play any time i think im even close i just get into furiten :/
>not liking washizu mahjong

>disconnect
>refresh the game
>apparently dealt in to last place's yakuman which propelled him into 4th place and me into last
yea, I think I'm done for good
well it's stuff for old people to enjoy. Character development and shit
You can, but it's very unlucky.
Shop->Fortune: you can see Summon Scrolls there. They are limited stock, which apparently restocks every month (I'm not 100% sure myself, but that's what someone has told me), and cost 50 dust. You get dust by disenchanting gifts you can get in Silver room and above. Disenchant all you get, buy those scrolls, and try your luck with these 3 summons.
Personally, I have summoned 56 times so far, and only got 1 character.
What is the downside to Kanning? I keep hearing people say things like this / all the replies to it but I don't get why? It adds another dora but isn't that just as likely to affect you as anyone else?
Learn to read first.
chinese??
Have anyone calculated how much money exactly you need to spend to get the 'Cat Food Supplier' tier?
>tsumoing a cat playing defensive into the negative
Is there literally any better feeling?
Honestly riichi is not the game to play seriously using wifi or mobile internet. Only Ethernet cables, and maintaining pc from potential diggers.
There's 3 everyone else and one you
Literally end yourself
>chinese??
By your own logic it has a 1/4 chance of helping you and 3/4 chance of killing you.
I literally don't understand how kan works outside of sankantsu, chankan or that yakuman. How does it effect a normal hand?
>he can't appreciate a show that literally dedicates an entire episode to less than one round of mahjong
pleb
>a cat playing defensive
Fake news.
Goddamn, nyagger, nice last minute upset with that sanshoku.
oh that yeah, thats the second time i managed to not get into furiten but i have no idea how to win
But everyone but me is stupid
Your objective is to win the overall match. Not to optimize your own score every hand.
This is the case for every aspect of the game. The dora would be affecting all four players equally. It can't affect everyone negatively, that doesn't make sense.
It has a 1/4 chance of helping you greatly and a 3/4 chance of hindering you to a minor degree.
PONNYA
CHIINYA
a good pointer when you are a shitter that doesn't know yaku is:
either go full triplets or full sequences, don't mix.
if you pon'd a dragon tile, you already secured a yaku, so just call whatever you want and collect the shitty low-value hand, better than losing.
It works just like calling pon does. It counts as a set/triplet/ankou, whatever you want to call it, for all the usual yaku.
it creates a dora bomb with a random length fuse
room where, i'd make one but i don't trust my internet
You need to have at least 1 yaku to win. I suggest you to memorize at least popular ones, like pinfu, tanyao, yakuhai. You don't need to memorize all yakumans right away, just focus on simple hands. Then you should play the game and keep in mind which yaku you're building every time.
I swear I'm going to commission ryona smut of this fucken cat.
But it's one extra tile.
Perhaps the best scenario when not to do it: when another player(s) has declared riichi.
Normally if they win, they gain access to one uradora. Perfoming a kan, and every one after, will give them two additional doras which could potentially raise their score. Which ultimately is the inherent risk of kanning - potentially adding more value to an opponent's hand.
Yes, it can be beneficial. But there's also three opponents and only one of you. So saying it's just as likely to affect you as anyone else is being woefully careless.
GUESS WHO JUST WON THEIR FIRST HAND GUYS, THE GUY THAT CAN'T CAN'T STAY OUT OF FURIKEN!! or is it furitan.. i dont remember but this is fun even if i dont nkow how to play
Making a kan locks your hand leaving you with less defending options, if someone else riichis you'd have the most probability of dealing.
Also making a kan most of the time doesn't even advance your hand most of the time.
It is a good tactic if you are last and with nothing to lose. Everywhere else is suicide specially if you are first (since you win nothing by getting a big hand while your opponents are waiting for it)
It lets absolute madlads cuck you with a 4-kan draw if you insist on kanning whenever possible.
i kan whenever i'm getting fucked in the ass
otherwise the odds are stacked against you and someone else is more likely to benefit from it
>don't ever pon or chi
>riichi
>wait for lady luck to give you your win
that's the simple version for you idiots.
>all those called tiles
>under the sea
>This is the case for every aspect of the game. The dora would be affecting all four players equally. It can't affect everyone negatively, that doesn't make sense.
The person with riichi gets dara AND ura dora. The person who calls open kan gets just a dora. There's already a disadvantage against riichi players. Better don't do kans unless you're behind by a lot of points or you're in tempai already and can riichi right after.
Just aim for the 4kan yakuman everytime.
>final tile as your only yaku
You fucking lunatic.
so if you pon/chi you need to wait on the single tile u need basically?
u have no idea how much i wish i understood so i could laugh too
You should switch to cat.
I probably had 5 6han hands that match, but I never got a chance to win cous of this stupid cat
Fair enough I suppose, that make sense.
>ura dora
I straight up forgot those existed, that does tip it away, I guess.
no, if you pon/chi, most of you will mostly gets no yaku, hence no winning.
Meanwhile riichi can at least make sure you can 1 yaku and win small.
Ive always wanted to learn how to play Mahjong because i like the tiles. Does this game have a good tutorial to learn how to play?
Official tier list just got released
noobs and tryhards alike welcome, standard hanchan, default rules, don't know what advanced does but it's off by default
mahjongsoul.game.yo-star.com
Based Kodomo
Pedo tier should be on top of all.
The fuck you guys see in that toppu idoru?
-You need a yaku to meet the qualifications of a winning hand
-winning with the last discarded tile in the game is a yaku
-it's your only yaku
it means the only way for your weird hand to get value was exactly to win with the last discard in the game, which is extremely lucky and a reckless bet for the low value it had
>tfw I got both Kana and Yui after 2 summons
>Nadeshiko
Based retardposter
The same question for Nadeshiko.
Need one more nyagger
it only took me a few Yea Forums posts and i started winning.... thx for teaching me to not pon/chi guys
>under the sea
kek who thought of the yaku translations
i see a lot of strong players on Yui Yagi.
That poor bastard that got double ron'd
>double ron
>get haneman at last possible turn
UOOOOOOOOOOHHHH
;( none of my tiles were safe
Is there anything better than Tsumo Ippatsu into multiple Uradora with some utter trash hand on turn 7?
just make sure you fufill one of the yaku in this image to win
yeah my waits were 1-2-3-4-5 man so it was pretty tough
What happens when this appears? double dora points?
>closed kan
Good girl
Got Kana on 2nd and then 54 next went without characters. Fishing for Yui...
Yes, each 8 pin will be worth 2 han
Does a close Kan count as two pair for the seven pair Yaku?
I find it funny that people suggest pinfu as one of the first yaku to learn. It's very easy to do once you know how it works, but at the same time it's probably the most complicated yaku. Every otehr yaku can be explained in one maybe two sentences at least.
What the fuck is under the sea
why on earth would you spend so much money on a jpg?
No
winning with the last tile of the round
>Nadeshiko
Chuuni cake design done really meticulously, like, she doesn't even have a family name, and her KAN and CHII sound drunk as fuck. Kana doesn't look like idol, her clothing fucking blows. Most girls look better clothed than her.
Last draw or last discard. I can't remember which.
No, it doesn't. If you're going for seven pairs, and you draw a third tile of a pair, either discard it or change your hand towards All Triplets.
I know we all hate nyaggers, but the real, most absolute faggots are the ones that fold to 9 terminal initial draw instead of going for 13 orphans
Just remembered that online mahjong is more of a don't get last game rather than going for the win.
If you play with this mentality you'll understand why those high risk moves are never optimal. Unless you are last (and in the last rounds) in that case everything goes. Also you'll climb faster if you almost never place last rather than having an all over the place performance.
Last tile in the pool and you tsumo that
What if I don't declare it and just keep all 4 of them in my hand?
kan is considered a triplet
good job.
Until you know what to do, just go for the richii route.
it's more luck based that way, but when you knows nothing, it's luck based anyway.
Only valid tier list is this one
>Patrician high IQ tier
Nee-san
Nyagger
>Low IQ whale tier
Everyone else
Basicly yeah. The 8-pin is now worth 2han instead of 1han
So if you had a 8-pin pair, it would be worth 4han
ya
>doing alright at the start, pulling off some wins
>learn about tile efficiency etc
>try to use it
>barely ever win again and its never big hands when i do
hm
poor shi
>don't declare it
Then it isn't a kan.
It still doesn’t count
Room?
hes asking if you can use (e.g.) 44 44 for chiitoitsu
He can, it isn't a kan anymore.
I mean you keep all four of them in your hand.
But as other have said I guess they all need to be different pairs.
im pretty sure chiitoitsu has a rule saying they cant be the same pair

Guys who do i reroll for in this game?
what were they thinking?
>Hey you are good enough now, so we are going to punish you by letting you only play a few matches a day.
The same logic could be applied to literally any other aesthetic pleasure spendings as well as hobbies. There's nothing wrong with spending money on things you like, things that give you a dopamine charge, regardless of how short it is. People who sperg out about how other people spend the money their earned, constantly screeching that a human being should only spend money on basic living needs, are literally worse than commies.
>nyagger neets can pon and chi all day and get free handouts from the government
>meanwhile i have to work hard to maintain my copper supply
ITS NOT FAIR

seems like the game is too much for a brainlet like you.
Maybe consider going for a simpler game?

i mean they may not have implemented that rule in the game

If you could selectively pick what you wanted for a reasonable price, I would agree. But it's completely random.
Keep working you hags.

Make a south room now, i want to PON
>PON CHI PON PON CHI CHI PON CHI KAN
Are chinks always high on caffeine or something?
thats just how chinese mahjong works
Just win bro.
Is this game good for beginners, I'm trying to learn to watch Akagi
Well, I'm 1/3 of my way towards Yui. You get 1 faith for every 'lootbox', characters cost 150 faith, smaller things cost 50 I think. If I don't get Yui by the time I open 150 boxes, I'll be able to selectively buy it. Sure, it's far from being able to just go and buy what I want, but at least not completely random like in Path of Exile.
This thread is almost ded
It's beginner friendly yes.
