Round 1 is good on both fighting games and DDR
and Mario Kart

There are two or three places where it slows down for me. And the guns do feel a little "sticky". I cant 1cc the game but I can 2cc it.

How does Dave & Busters stack up to Round 1? I've only been to Round 1 and they have a damn good selection of games. Dance Rush, DDR, PIU, SVX, hell even Final Fantasy Theatrhythm Carnival. Plus tons of fighting games, beat em ups, motorbike racers, Mario Kart, and more. I haven't gone to D&B purely because I know they don't have DDR, which is the only game I truly care about. I dunno what kind of games they have.

I'd personally argue Round1's probably the best current/modern arcade you're going to find, even against Japan. They're pretty much all just NESiCA cabs now. There's still some nice ones out there. Austin TX has the Pinballz arcades and the DFW area has the Free Play barcades. Miami FL has Arcade Odyssey. Supposedly I live near some good shit now in Pittsburgh but I have to get up there

Yeah they have cards. Magicians Dead is fun. You move with a literal Wiimote nunchuck and use had gestures for spells. It's like a mini kinect that actually works. It's been offline for the last two weeks so I think the ride might be over.

AwesomeCon in DC a few weeks ago had a perfect working F-Zero AX deluxe cab on freeplay and it was surprisingly available in the evenings. They also had a working sitdown (but not deluxe) Race Drivin'. Learning stick finally paid off

Fuck me dude. I worked at an arcade for awhile and Big Bass Wheel was a consistent top earner. Big bass wheel --> Power Gap --> Raw Thrills trash. Every fucking week. You can imagine how pleased parents are. "GAVE MY KID 20 BUCKS WHERES IT AT??" He blew it big bass wheel.

Loved every second of it. I love how the dialogue and voice acting is intentionally campy and bad, and the weapon system is great though some of the weapons are that useful. Fantastic game though, definitely gonna replay it again next time I go to the arcade

Almost every arcade I've been to has turned into a ticket casino. The Barcade in Philly is pretty much the last refuge I've got for real arcade games.

I want to visit Round 1, but that's all the way out in Exton for me and I don't have the patience for that kind of journey anymore.

Aside from the cheesy voice acting, the sound design and the use of surround sound, fan and heater was pretty fucking amazing

D&B is fine. They veer more towards normie of course but the Sega Rallys and Time Crisises and stuff is always in good working order. They even have exclusive stuff like Luigis Mansion arcade.

Obviously I only go to Round 1mostly but people need to stop exaggerating how bad D&B is.

It's an arcade adaptation of Dark Moon on the 3DS, the levels and bosses are pretty much all the same as that one

I KNOW they will never reach arcades but Pacman Championship Edition DX and Galaga Legions need to get ported. Pacman CE2 sucks and I regret buying it. I just want to show the world how much better I am than everyone else

Let me tell you about Dave and busters. Once went to one in Irvine and it was awful. Aside from playing shooting games, the bathrooms there are cesspools. It's probably one of the worst bathrooms you'll ever see in your goddamn life. Most of the stalls were out of order, the place looked like a construction site. Piss smell everywhere. Don't get me started on the trash. So yeah, round 1 better variety especially nippon exclusive games as well as somewhat better bathrooms.

I actually just like playing claw machines, never care much for the prizes.
Knowing that Japanese arcades not only take time and effort to set up displays in their machines that help make them more engaging then stuff lopsidedly thrown in, but that the prizes are also okay sometimes is suffering.
I'll never see something like this in America.

There’s one near my house called Arcade Odyssey in Miami. They have a bunch of good “retro machines” Super turbo, 3rd strike, mvc2 and a bunch of new anime fighters shit too. I go maybe 2 - 3 times a month

does project diva only let you play one song per credit? I watched someone play it and it looked like a ripoff

Before you select a song, there's a big Triangle or Square icon for different modes. Triangle is 1 song, but you can't fail. Square is 2 songs, but you can fail (and failing the first song loses you the second). Basically you should almost always pick Square, play a song you know you can clear, and then you can play a riskier song since it won't matter if you fail it.

It's pretty pricey considering when I went to Japan, it was 2 plays (4 songs if you choose Square) for only 100 yen.

Have fun, user. There was a bit of learning-as-you-go that I had to go through like when I chose the triangle mode many times for the first times I played. If you're into it, Round 1 has the Project Diva cards you can buy at the front counter for $8 when I got it. It lets you buy outfits and generally makes the game more convenient such as not having to select difficulties everytime since it'll remember where you left off

Here in Germany there are zero arcades because our retarded government put them in the same category as real gambling casinos back in the 80s, so investors stayed far away.
Really breaks my heart because visiting these things in Japan was a goddamn riot.

I have a nesica and e-musement card but I didn't want to get a bana passport card because project diva is the only game here that uses it. I'll play square mode for a bit and i'll see if I like project diva enough to warrant buying the card.
