No. It is not the same thing. I did not have to buy each disc separately over a period of time when VII first came out. I got the full package right then and there, and swapped disc when needed.

It was a joke. In the case of the 7RM though, it's supposed to be much longer than the original game, as they're retconning all of the [X]C universe into the main story which will also make it quite a different game altogether.

Was there ever a big revolution in "small model on world map" exploration from the NES era to the PS1? That is what is driving up the development time, recreating a whole planet not just some small regions in XV. You either don't go full modern game and still do the small guy on big map which makes the game seem cheap IMO, or you take the time to get the scale and asset creation done. Once they get basic environmental stuff done is copypasta then the big task is all the unique areas of 7.

I definitely think Part 1 is just Midgar, but 2 and 3 will have significantly less development time by the basic combat, animations, models etc done.
