The main problem is that it's focused around Mr. X in the Police Station. For example, the Zombies were changed to be more durable and more damaging but easier to stun and run so that you have to make a choice to avoid them at the cost of attracting X. The thing is, Mr. X is pretty easy to avoid outside of the tighter hallways, so there isn't any positive effect to this. Meanwhile, the changes to zombies mean they have less of an effective presence in the station and are absolutely laughable in the sewers.
This is exacerbated by the other enemies in the line-up. Dogs and Lickers remained mostly the same, so sections with just them in the station and basement shine brightly and show how dull the new zombies are. The new plant men also got to be a lot better, as without Mr. X or Lickers in the same rooms, they had to stand on their own, so they made them both satisfying to avoid/fight and dangerous when you fuck up.
Basically, they sacrificed a big part of what makes up the meat of the game for a mediocre gimmick that played worse than Nemesis 20 years prior, but because people are shit at vidya and have shit opinions, they ate it right up.

While it wasn't as spooky as previous RE titles the gameplay was, and still is, so good that it more than made up for it to the point where, for me personally, REmake 2 still dosn't touch it due to the gameplay issues I have with it. RE went 3rd person shooter with OG RE2 onward and RE4 perfected it.

No it isn't. While 2 is the easiest of the classic REs, the "remake" features adaptive difficulty, nerfs item management, and literally tells you where to go. Plus you have to play on hardcore to do away with auto-saves. Go play RE2 on nightmare and tell us it isn't the more challenging game.

This game is nuts when playing it with a set of high quality headphones. It's mostly all of the thumping, creaking and music that is getting to me. It's getting me anxious as all hell. I can't wait for my second or third playthrough, so that I can actually play the game instead of constantly dreading what might happen if I go here or there.

Funny enough that's how I learned about Lickers not being able to go through doors. I understand that they didn't want to make them too overpowered, but I feel like they should at least swipe at you when you're in the doorway. I could have legitimately knifed the thing to death if I wanted to.

At first I was put off by the changes to the playstyle and all, but after playing it for a while, I realize it was a great idea. It feels simultaneously more responsive and more nerve-wracking to be in complete control of aiming, comparing with REmake. The demo partly disappointed me because I didn't get to play it on Hardcore mode. I still ended up buying it when it was on discount and now that I'm playing it on Hardcore I realized it was what the game needed.

I've given this game 90 hours. A bunch of runs and as much money as I could give at the time 70$. I was there at Launch at 12am, I sleep during the day because of night shift wagie, woke up at 11:56pm to Steak, Shrimp and potatoes, candy setup for overnight play and a meme hand drawn and taped to the monitor about RE2 REmake. RE2 was my favorite RE but they dropped the ball on the B scenario. Earns ONE of the greatest but not THE greatest.

Good opinion. The lackluster B scenarios really scuffed the shine of the game. That being said, I thought it was a smart move to stay more grounded to the original than try new things like some people wanted. Unfortunately, the odd B scenarios ended up detracting from the updated original experience. A/B in the original were like heads and tails of a quarter, while the A scenario in RE2make is like the head of a quarters and the B scenario is like the tails end of a dime if that makes any sense.

It's unfortunate, it's the only flaw that isn't nitpicky I could find with the game. IIRC the original A/B scenarios had inconsistencies in the plot so that could be forgiven. Where it's really lackluster is in content though. You could pick up on some attempted divergence in the RPD but by the time you leave the RPD it's the same thing as the A scenario.

Sherry actually DID have a hard life. She wasn't actually allowed to leave the facility she lived on for her own protection until Albert Wesker was confirmed dead. That happened only in 2008. Then they still told her "your fine round ass still belongs to the gubiment." The thing i didn't believe for a second was that Sherry was allowed to keep her identity. The Raccoon city incident went public and her parents name were beyond trash going foward. Imagine the absolute rage and seeth that remaining survivors of Raccoon would have at the knowldge that their daughter was alive and well after they lost everything. Its not Sherry's fault, but you know how people are, she would need a new identity for her own saftey after that.
