It's pretty much literally the first game, but it's a lot of fun. Takashi Miike is a good director and he sells it with flair.

I've only played each of the AAI games once. 2 was pretty nifty but 1 was a forgettable game. I only really remember the flashback segments, Jocks liking the Gym, the terrifying intro to the third case, EXTRATERRITORIAL RIGHTS!, the culprit of the second case, and Badd being totally based. So really just the memes.

Her laugh is what makes her cool though, she's an exact anti-thesis of Edgeworth, and is one of the few characters who calls him out on how stiff and formal he always is. It worked well.

It's hard to see any character progression when your characters are all over the place. I replayed DD recently and did so in the chronological order of the cases rather then the way they present them and it's much better. If I were to rewrite it is make the cases in proper order and have the player meet Clay at least twice before he dies, as well as make the phantom more competent.

I can't remember what the game is like when played in order. I just think of the 5 cased seperately.

It actually fits the role much better. Apollo's and Athena's story intertwine more fluidly (LIKE THE NAME OF THE GAME HMMMM) and you see them become good partners only to have it ripped apart, with the final act having them amend their own pasts. But, the lack of Clay still hurts it along with the backtracking of Wright from a wise, kind yet manipulative mentor too his self from the original games.

Except the point is Phoenix from AJ doesn't act like Phoenix does in any other game, including in trial. People didn't like how Phoenix Acts in AJ, so they shitcanned that version of him. I've been marathoning the AA series. I finished all the DS games including AAI2 and just made to AA5. Is the 3DS era of AA all bad? First time through, I'll go through investigations as fast as possible because I don't want to dwell on the evidence and think about where the trial might be going ahead of time. I deeply prefer flying by the seat-of-my-pants in these sorts of games, and figuring stuff out beforehand and savescumming would undermine that.
This also applies to how I went through the DR games, too.

It does get better. DD is generally considered fairly weak (especially the first two cases), but the last and DLC cases are very good. SoJ is just a generally good game. PLvAA is an acquired taste, but fun for classic Maya and Phoenix, and the DGS games are comfy as fuck.

SoJ is widely agreed to be good. DD is kind of in the same tier as AA2 and AA4, but it still has some good points. The crossover game is alright, too.

I just finished the third case and started episode 4. The main thing that put me off was going from sprites to 3D models, I don't like their style. It also didn't help that so far the first three cases aren't all that enjoyable further souring my first impressions

When DD was first announced, I was blown away because I thought the models looked exactly like the sprites but now in 3D. Looking back, they are a little rough around the edges, but at least not as much as in PLvsPW. Also, it feels like they polished them a little in SoJ, so there's that.

But the best looking 3D AA will be DGS, hands down. DD and SoJ feels like they just ported the sprites to 3D for the most part, and that's ok. But in DGA, besides the models looking great, I think they really took advantage of using 3D models for some of the game gimmicks and the quirks of the witnesses.

I'm actually going to start AJ sometime next week since I finished the trilogy recently. The OST is sick.

Season 1 is garbo. There's one episode where they give more back story to miles, lary, and phoenix's childhood friendship. You can watch that one, but skip the rest. Season 2 is much better and has an original case as well as more backstory about how miles grey up with von karma
