How the fuck can Epic keep bribing companies to make their games exclusive to the Epic store? Bribery is illegal so how do we get Ubisoft and Epic into legal trouble?

>Get outbid
>reee bribed
It's not bribing. There isnt a law that states games must go on steam and steam only. Are you stupid? they have gorillions of dollars at their disposal why wouldnt they secure potential gorillions more?
Literally who has bought a Ubisoft game in the last 10 years?
Who cares? Ubisoft has their own launcher and I'm pretty sure half of Yea Forums plays Siege at this point. If they wanted Wildlands2, they would just get it off the ubi store.
>bribing
I left my current job for another one that paid me more. It's not bribery you fucking retard
>Playing Ubishit
Oof
>Ubisoft accepting large sums of money literally for free
Honestly, they'd have to be stupid not to take it. Ubisoft has a good enough grip on their own consumer base that they can get away with bad practices that they'll still make a lot of money back.
How do you outbid someone when you're the only one bidding?
You have to use uplay to play it anyways, so just buy it off uplay...
I genuinely think Epic has the potential to put Valve out of business. I know it sounds ridiculous right now.
If ubishit wants to dine with the new scum of the industry, let them. Piracy will always be an option, and I have no problem utilizing it
Tens of millions of dollars.
There's only one party bidding though.
That's like having a long time gf, both of you are happy with your relationship and some Chad comes along and drops 10k for her to leave you.
wtf are you supposed to do?
>bribing
Are you 11 years old? Check this 8 btw.
Do people not realize that no matter what store, you're still gonna use Uplay? all their games are tied to their launcher circa 2012
Fucking idiots
Who cares about this soulless multiplayer game being released by a soulless chink publisher?
epic has to run out of money sooner or later, right?
the last time I bought anything form those frog fucking Ubikikes was Dark Messiah.
their games are such generics pieces of shit that I don't even waste time and bandwidth pirating their annual turds.
get a shotgun and a shovel, you know what to do
it would be stupid if the upfront payment they get from Epic is less than the expected revenue from the Steam store. They can very easily lose money on these deals. It all comes down to whether players will follow them to the Epic store.
This. Why would I want to go through 2 launchers to play a game, be it Steam or Epic?
Fortnite is almost a big as minecraft, you really have no idea how much money epic has made from it.
Tencent is worth $450 billion, has no debt, and have $50 billion of cash.
Only after the zoomers run out of Fortnite lootboxes.
I think Epic Games has the potential to put itself out of business.
Get fucked, steamcel
ubisoft still win in this situation
>get dirty chink bugman money to have your game be "exclusive" to the epic store
>it still launches the uplay launcher from epic
>can skip them and just buy on uplay
>can get 20% off for 100 of their dumb uplay coins
And you think they are willing to spend all of that to mess up Steam?
What is even their goal here? Destroy Steam and then EGS and take over the market with their own store?
>How the fuck can Epic keep bribing companies to make their games exclusive to the Epic store?
Fortnite money.

It's not bribery, it's a deal between private companies.
>Ubisoft
Nothing of value was lost. Also, it requires Uplay anyways, you're better off buying it from them just to avoid a extra DRM layer.
This shit right here
Gee, have you missed the ongoing economic war that has swept the world? The one that USA is losing to China?
how much of a game like this' revenue comes from people seeing it on steam and deciding "huh, yeah I guess I'll buy that game"? That's the big question in all these Epic deals. Committed fans are probably going to follow a game wherever (especially if they can just go to Ubi's in-house store). But as a public storefront, Steam is a huge driver of new eyeballs and impulse purchases
>got bribed out his other job because he's a backstabbing lowlife with no morales
>"huur itz nobribe"
>>Make a generic neon post apocalyptic world
>>Make a sandbox where you literally wanna shoot yourself of boredom
>>Release part 2 of the same game
>>Retards still buy it like the 2nd coming of jesus
Wtf is wrong with people Yea Forums?
The cuts they get from the sales, steam takes more than epic.
If ubisoft was happy with their relationship with steam, they wouldn't have made Uplay in the first place. Epic offering a bigger cut was the next logical step to ditching steam alltogether.
>pay for ''exclusivity''
>literally pay ubisoft extra just so you can sell some shit game while they sell it on their own store
the division 2 was a uplay/epic exclusive only and sold over 10 million copies
Players apparently followed them to the Uplay store, rather than Epic, which is even better for Ubisoft because that shit means 100% revenue + Epics bribe money + Epic's money if the game doesn't do well on the EGS.
It's a total win/win for Ubisoft.
If a large publisher has the resources to do so, not having their own storefront is just leaving money on the table
>Buying anything by ubisoft on another platform that will launch uplay anyway
>Buying anything by ubisoft
>between private companies
lel
oh no no no no
>10 million copies
uh huh, show me the source for these numbers
Then Steam will just refocus into the Asia market. Fortnite didn't reach as far over there, so the Epic Store isn't even a blip on the radar to Chinese and japanese publishers. Primarily why no jap games took the exclusivity deal yet. The PC ports that western publishers create are also heavily advertised to the Asia market. Exclusivity would kill that reach, not to mention chink hatred runs much more personal in Asia countries
I almost wish I was like them
Imagine how easy life would be if you enjoyed every bullshit product that was shit out
Hell, literally anyone can make their own store, with FastSpring, Humble Widget or Digital River.
>ubisoft games
>exclusive to any launcher
ok retard
>Literally who has bought a Ubisoft game in the last 10 years?
The millions of fools keeping them afloat? Rayman Origins & Legends were good games user
There is no way it sold 10 million copies you fucking liar. That's 10 times what Madden sold.
What they're then?
>bribery
lmao the state of valve shills
Not illegal, just not in the best interest of the consumer. I would like for someone to explain how a company buying exclusive rights for a game is in the best interest of the user. I don't recall valve ever doing this except for their in-house development. This jewish practice is why media streaming is going to shit fast, because everyone is starting their own service. On the other hand, Valve has been a bunch of faggots the last 5-years or so, just cashing in on their status and releasing shit-tier games like Artifact. Maybe this will push them to make a real fucking game again.
who the fuck cares at this point?
it's a fucking ubisoft ghost recon game lmfao
Depends hows long fortnite stays around mostly.
Yess.... yess.... goood, goy, goood..... don't strive for better opportunities, my little goy.... all you need are MY paychecks.... you wouldn't want to be exploit- I mean emplooyed by someone else now would you, my sweet goy? I mean, my kid did ask me for a new billion dollar yacht. Think about the little CEO in the making...
that's 10 times what assassin's fucking creed odyssey sold. You literally just made that number up.
Inconvenience has literally nothing to do with illegality. We just pointed out the retardation.
They're here forever user, backed by ching chong money Tencent
why didn't bethesda join epic like ubisoft?
>backed by ching chong money Tencent
This means nothing if normalfags lose interest or something shinier pops up.
Remember LoL was always chinkfunded and look at it now, it's fucking forgotten. The same will happen to Fortnite and literally every ultra popular game.
>physical sales
cringe
paying a company to do business with you is not bribery lol
and everybody gonna get it on uplay for 20% off anyway
This is no surprise, Tencent bought a mass of shares in Ubisoft and saved them from a hostile takeover from vivendi a while back.
Ubisoft owes Tencent.
All their games will be on Epic.
don't their games require uplay anyways? so it doesn't matter.
>ubisoft abandoning their own platform for money
everyone needs to relax, just sit back and watch it burst.
>Ghost Recon Breakpoint is on epic
Oh wow what a fucking loss that is, I'm literally crying right now.
>Bribery is illegal so how do we get Ubisoft and Epic into legal trouble?
No storefront is entitled to any game. These "bribes" are part of a contract. After six months the games release on Steam, so just be patient while people beta-test.
They didn't left Uplay behind.
>mfw Sekiro is a Steam exclusive and sold over 100 million billion copies
Get fucked, Epic shill.
>Ghost recon breakpoint
and nothing of value was lost
devs and publishers don't give a shit about steam except for how many sales it can drive and if its worth the 30% cut. if epic exclusivity deals look like it will pay better they will continue to release there
Developer here. It's not bribery. Epic only takes 12%.
Something that Steam doesn't do because they're greedy fucks. Only fanboys will defend this.
>be ubisoft
>everyone buys your game on steam
>want people to buy games from your shit store
>like free money
>epic offers you stack of cash
>remove game from steam
>everyone hates epic instead of you
>you offer 10% discount on your own store
>nobody uses epic's store anyway
they're literally being paid by epic to do what they want to do anyway.
Who the ever longing fuck cares about the Ghost Recon series? They just signed their death warrant.
Based. All Ubisoft games will be on Epic Store.
Literally nobody will buy a Ubisoft game in the next 10 years on Steam.
Holy shit...
Anyway as a Wildlands player I won't get this, mostly because it looks to high tech and what I actually enjoy about Wildlands is trying to emulate 80s operator aesthethics. The other reason is that Wildlands got old fast, real fast. First hours were absolutely cool because the world is actually beatiful and thus you had the promise of hours upon hours of playing tacticool infiltrations.
But it gets boring.
>put your game on epic
>it makes a quarter of the sales it would have if it was on steam
I'm glad you noted that you were a developer, because you sure as fuck aren't a marketer or a mathematician
I still don't understand why people hate the epic store so much. Every games storefront starts with exclusives. Every single damn one. Why is Steam the only storefront allowed to have games?
This is literally wildlands 2 with reused assets and bad animations, epic can keep buying as many bad games as they want it bothers me non but why do you insist on making this thread when everyone already knows this?
>exclusivity money + minimum sales guarantee + more people going to your own store
I don't know why Epic Games keeps bothering with them.
because you are retarded, go play some battle royale
It's not that I hate other venues to purchase games, in fact I support Fanatical and GOG. It's just that Epic sends me emails about chinks trying to log into my account every other week and I don't want something being tampered with so easily to be my go-to place to buy games.
It's established, people don't want to have multiple different platforms installed on their computer. It's more comfortable to use one platform for everything.
Also epic is doing shady business, they're strongarming developers into using their broken, hollow platform to try to force people to use it instead of making a decent platform that people like to use
why are there so many corporate cocksuckers on nu-Yea Forums
Nobody gives a shit about your fucking cut faggot. The consumer will always drive demand and your choices and if the consumer deems this as a negative you're gonna not only take a financial hit but a credibility hit as well.
If I were to make a game I would try to put it on as many stores as possible. not limit myself to one fledgling store with already bad cred and only a handful of meh games. As soon as that fortnite money stops rolling in what the fuck is going to happen to the epic games store huh ? they dont even have a single inhouse game developed that could keep customers attention when it happens.
Playing Devils advocate for a company that knows its on limited time is sheer folly.
Cannot reviewbomb their shitty games over there
>Every games storefront starts with exclusives.
GreenManGaming has exclusives?
EGS is strictly speaking not owned by Tencent while they have their own distribution platforms.
It would only make sense to sabotage Epic Games later to either buy them out completely or just push their own platform in the US.
because epic have more money than they can possible spend and sweeney is a vindictive little pube.
bloke used to shit on steam for being too beholden to windows, and that windows was going to shut out steam in the long run. valve tried to make a go of linux and have gotten fuck all support from epic, who are now cancelling linux versions of anticheat and literally saying they "love everything microsoft are doing".
couldn't make this shit up.
>Every games storefront starts with exclusives.
Exclusivities that the companies which own them paid for. No one complained about Fortnite or League of Legends' exclusivity. Everything else is exclusive due to publisher/developer's laziness.
>I still don't understand why people hate the epic store so much.
To be honest, I don't even care and I don't hate the developers and publishers that make deals with them. I will buy Shakedown: Hawaii when it gets a DRM-free release.
>who are now cancelling linux versions of anticheat and literally saying they "love everything microsoft are doing".
wtf I love Epic Games now.
>Buying Ubisoft shit
this desu
I have uplay, so dun care
Rainbow Six Siege is very popular at the moment
You are reasonable, I also prefer DRM-free games, and I don't really like Epic's security and don't have anything other than the engine there anyway, because none of their exclusives.
It's responses like an d which are the majority that I don't get.
I bought the Rayman trilogy like 4 or 5 years ago.
Rayman games we're great
They went full retard with the drone army shit.
A drug cartel with enough money to buy the army was a way more interesting concept.
What kind of dumb fuck buys Ubisoft games on Epic OR Steam?
Gonna go rub this in my friend's face for actually thinking Breakpoint wasn't $60 DLC for Wildlands lmao, dude didn't want to buy Metro because it was on EPIC store and now Breakpoint is on EPIC Store over steam
cope
>Exclusivities that the companies which own them paid for.
I just don't really see how a publisher using their own storefront, is so different from them renting a cheaper storefront.at a lower cost than the main storefront. Your arbitrarily saying it's ok for the publisher to decide where to publish, except when it isn't.

People actually buy Ubishit games in 2019?
I haven't paid for one of their shitty games in literally over a decade.
>calls other games shit

>supporting company which makes children addicted to shooting and shouting curses at each other, while blindly shoveling more money in Sweeney's pockets
Absolutely disgusting.
>is so different from them renting a cheaper storefront.at a lower cost than the main storefront.
You know they didn't did that. They got paid to do so. No other store in the business made such a deal with new games before. That's why most people hate them.
So many games and only r6 siege was good.
I got tired of shooting untrained Spics in Wildlands, like the guy with the dual mac-10's sprinting and 1-shotting you, Unidad was equally retarded as the Cartel too and all the AI had Predator vision that could see you through 50m of bushes if you played on a high enough difficulty.
I'm glad we're fighting Ex-Ghosts who're professionals with the technology to destroy you in Breakpoint but I'm not about to pay $60 for some shitty MGS3 Operation Snake Eater Wildlands DLC
Yes, they are spending small parts of that money to solidify their position and expand their market share.
t. twelve years old
Good is a strong word but it wasn't bad
>yfw havent pirated in years
>thanks to epic the golden age of piracy is returning
noice
who cares? exclusivity rights have been a part of various types of media for fucking decades. You're just flinging shit for no reason. People like you are the same type that want consoles to stop "holding back games" and be only on PC.
>The one that USA is losing to China?
Didn't Foxconn and Super Micro just move tons of their manufacturing from China to South Korea and Taiwan?
Don't think the US is going to lose this trade war m8, especially considering the US is a consumer economy, so if it becomes more expensive to build shit in China and sell it to the largest market on the planet (the US), companies will just move to somewhere cheaper, like Taiwan.
>shitting on splinter cell, division, fc3 and ad:odyssey
Holy shit that is some shit taste you have there user.
>instead of making a decent platform that people want to use you just try to force people to use it with exclusives
Disgusting, I'll be disregarding any developer that puts their game on epic store
In fact, I just googled it.
>China had a manufacturing strangehold on server motherboard manufacturing, amounting to 90 percent of server motherboards shipped in 2017. In 2018, however, with the the US-China trade-war underway, that figure dropped like a rock to just 50 percent, a dramatic fall for just one year. Server component manufacturers are relocating to other countries, such as Taiwan, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Super Micro is relocating to Taiwan, with a new factory set up in Taoyuan at a cost of $65 million.
Eh, 2D BOY/Tomorrow Corporation are great.
are you actually retarded or have you never had a job before?
Nice job playing yourself, you just named 4 games out of the 31 that you posted that aren't shit.
The Division, FC3, and Ass Creed Odyssey are fucking dogshit though, and the only good Splinter Cell there is Chaos Theory and maybe the original.
It's a bigger crime that he's shitting on Beyond Good & Evil, The Sands of Time, and Rayman Origins.
Steam/Valve developed its own exclusives and the rest came on their own because they wanted. Dont equate third party exclusives as something that they earned you cum guzzler.
>company actively works against you
>lol who gives a fuck
>wait why is the industry so much shitty than it was years ago reeeeeeeeeee
Fucking retard
... you're not a developer.
division and splinter cell are franchises m8
You're wrong. Division 2 is literally the best Lootershooter on the market, by a mile. AC:O is the best AC game we've had in years, and FC3 is the best Far Cry to date. Not to mention that SC:Conviction is fucking god tier.
What about the millions Epic gives upfront? Is that not bribery?
a-at least we have japanese console remakes. the only thing left...
j-japanese games are better than western trash anyway..
>Division 2 is literally the best Lootershooter on the market, by a mile. AC:O is the best AC game we've had in years, and FC3 is the best Far Cry to date. Not to mention that SC:Conviction is fucking god tier.
Literally all of this is wrong, Ubishit shills have some dogshit taste.
Conviction is BY FAR the shittiest mainline Splinter Cell game to date.
I'm not saying it's illegal but to think of this as anything but bribery is retarded. go tell a judge that you'll contract him to ignore your parking tickets
NONONONONO CAPITALSM IS WRONG WHEN I DON'T LIKE IT DELETE THIS DELETE THIS RIGHT NOW
Don't forget Mordhau.
Huge MP game that even runs on their engine to boot, and it's not even on EGS.
Oof
this game will also be on uplay so why bother getting it on epic store, especially when it probably also forces you to install uplay regardles???? ???? ???? ???? ????
What I find the most baffling is how obvious it is that Timmy Boy just wants to shit on Steam and take their place as the most popular store, not be a developer friendlier store, yet nobody fucking notices it. You can tell that by how attack Steama only Steam for the 30/70 split, but don't shit on GOG for having the same split, or bring attention to how itch.io does it right for devs for having even better revnue split, because they only care about Steam.
I don't know what Gabe did to Tim-Tim, but it offended him so much that he's willing to waste millions upon millions of dolars just to spite and talk shit.
OP is a fag. It's not illegal bribery, obviously.
I don't like Epic's business practices but that doesn't mean they're breaking the law.
User reviews are a cancerous meme.
It's really all I buy day 1 anymore, so none of this is really that much of a kick in the stomach to me
You have the situation all wrong. Ubi is just Jewing Epic for free money knowing it'll never sell there and driving sales up on Uplay so they don't have to share the profit. They know people hate Uplay but anything is a better option than Epic since they are blatantly shit and the villain. It's pretty clever honestly. Epic pretends they have an exclusive all while giving Ubisoft money that they'll never make back on sales while Ubisoft makes actual sales on their own store.
You're not a fucking developer.
Steam takes a smaller cut for bigger titles, and unless your just an indie dev all the money saved goes to the publisher, not the devs.
>go tell a judge that you'll contract him to ignore your parking tickets
that would be bribery because it would violate the "contract" the judge has, which is to pass judgement without being influenced by gifts.
>Not either pirating or ignoring Ubisoft games.
Fuck UPlay and fuck Chinks.
>he thinks devs actually get more from that 88% and the publishers don't just take more instead
Homie you literally get it cheaper on Epic. This shit has made me realize how goddamn spoiled PC gamers are. You literally just have to open another browser, it takes like 6 seconds more at most. How is a cheaper game not consumer fucking friendly? Get off Gabe's dick, I promise you homie, he won't miss one ubi sandbox.
>but don't shit on GOG for having the same split
GOG reduced the split, reason why they killed the Fair Pricing Package.
>bribery
Sorry m8 but brokering a business deal with one company because others cant keep up is normal in every single other market.
You're a fucking shill not a dev. Get the fuck out of here you anticonsummerist shitbag
Always thought this!!! Gaming is female
Okay, name a better looter shooter then, I'll wait.
Name a better AC game since Black Flag
And it's like you forgot that Double Agent and Blacklist exist. Blacklist be so shitty it shouldn't even be a splinter cell game.
>This medieval battle royale indie game came out of fucking nowhere with no fun fare and is already outselling Metro Exodus and pretty much every other game Epic paid millions for exclusive rights
The same way there's been console exclusives for the past three decades you fucking retard
Big picture mode/in home streaming if you're into that sort of stuff
>This shit has made me realize how goddamn spoiled PC gamers are.
Consolefags aren't allowed to have opinions on the state of PC gaming when they bend over and take it in the ass from Sony and MS, so much so that these companies literally dictate what you can and can't say over your microphone to friends in your party.
The last thing I want is for PC gaming to become like your cancerous platforms, so I will bitch and moan and whine until the cows come home.
Don't like it? Fuck off back to consoles.
>cheaper
Lying is like breathing to the chink shill
>gabens dorito fueled conga line continues to fall apart at every turn
Maybe if they didnt wait until 2018 to start updating things we wouldnt be upset with how shit steam is.
haha, it happened with division 2 as well, ubisoft really are next gen
kek, metro exodus probably sold more in pre-orders on steam than total on egs
This says a lot about our society
We live in a society
But society doesn't live for us
GAMERS RISE THE FUCK UP
SERIOUS NON-UNDERAGE POST
Steam is declining because they stopped making games. No games = diminishing player base. We all know kids are the most avid gamers, if you are able to get kids to latch onto one of your products from an early age you've got a good foundation to base your business on. Steam rode the wave of TF2, CS, Dota, Portal, HL, L4D, but they never courted the younger generation. Instead of pissing away their renome at steambox, big picture mode, ouya, vr... just make fucking games. I hope you read Gaben.
Sweet, can't wait to buy it on uPlay.
Chinks are pushing him to topple Gabe so they can have a monopoly. Gabe is a big guy though, we shall see what happens.
Even then, if the split is what matters why arent people praising discords 10%?
Because it isnt about the devs, this is about toppling steam
12% of 0 is still 0. Also you pubblisher will get all the money while you will keep being a slave for nickels
No need to make games when you have an unlimited suppy of them.
And discord takes 10% but you faggots sure aren't shilling for that
TICK TOCK STEAM NIGGERS
TICK
TOCK
Oh shit, I didn't know that. My point still stands though, before GOG changed their revenue split, Epic never directly addressed them, only Steam.
>medium gets really big
>businesses do what they do in every single other part of the market
>retards get upset that their medium is popular
Who knew PC masterrace is so retarded.
Oh wait we all did because muh pcmr is a front and they are 80% 12 year olds just like everyone else
When you have $5b to play with, a coupl mil is a drop in the bucket.
At I get to save $60 on this one though and can claim my already-paid-for copy from Codex.
So true sister!!!!
Boys club is going down!!!!
>Steam
>greedy fucks
Game developers who weren't born yesterday recognize that Steam made things better for indie devs by offering a better cut than was standard at the time Steam entered the market.
Of course Epic offering a better cut is good for you, but the idea that Steam has been "greedy" just shows how spoiled you are. Whatever shitty indie game you developed would probably never find an audience if not for Steam, so maybe they deserve that 30% for bringing a potentially huge number of players to your game and hosting that game on their platform which is easily the best in the market in terms of the features that users actually want. You probably can't even get your game on Epic anyway, because they don't accept every little game from every little developer like Steam is kind enough to do.
They stopped making games because it's cheaper and more profitable to make hats for TF2 etc.
You're not allowed to use your brain on Yea Forums, retard.
Anyways, valve's current state is fucking shameful and whoever defends them is a retard.
so this
>new game
is just a clone of pic related ?
I just made a correction.
Probably because he don't really see them as competition, as they don't sell most AAA games.
So you'll be ignoring:

2K/Gearbox

Paradox Interactive
Deep Silver/4A
Remedy
Atari
Devolver Digital
THQ

What the fuck is your point? Because something should have been expected people shouldnt complain?
Kys based retard
Is this a joke? That's promotional art from the game in OP, GR Breakpoint.
You talk like a console peasant, which would explain why your opinion is so completely irrelevant
>all these fortnite babies itt
Obsidian had nothing to do with that deal.
Ubisoft better watch out. Steam shitters are gonna downvote their games while pretending it does anything.
I'll just pirate all their games.
Thanks for the free copy Epic/buycucks.
why wouldnt they just sell on both? dont they stand to make more money that way?
who cares this shit looks like a half assed mod for the already shitty wildlands, only retards buy and play this shit
I'm not sure what you're talking about.
First, where is the evidence that Steam is declining?
Second, why would Steam's decline be caused by a lack of games by one particular developer? Valve is the name of the eveloper behind Steam, by the way. The fact that Valve owns Steam does not mean Steam needs games developed by Valve in order to survive. There are new games by other developers released on Steam literally every day.
>has no idea how the world works
Have fun dipshit, I'm too busy enjoying other games to get upset over fucking ubishit of all things and I'm no so stupid to think that steam is worth defending either.
Valve and epic can go die in a fucking fire together because they are both garbage right now.
>not pirating all your games and shitposting retarded platformwar threads
You're a no brain monkey nigger, aren't you?
I legit don't know 1/3rd of those and the ones I do recognize I know for a fact I didn't play their games before Epic store was a thing.
pcgamesn.com
I think epic has more users in part thanks to fortnite, but steam ain't dying. Part of it might be letting PSN use steam as well.
That's a fair point, and their games will all be on the Windows Store from now on anyway.
wrong image
Epic post zoom zoom, use all of mommy's money to never work a day in your life
You must be a consolenigger, because you dont understand 2 key things.
1 on pc, all those guys are just a drop in the bucket. When you have access to literally 10s of thousands of games, you can afford to be picky.
2 piracy is always on the table
Valve need to pull their finger out because they've been complacent for years. When's the last time they did something cool and exciting?
So far they rely on their loyal userbase. But how loyal will they stay when every hot new game is Epic exclusive?
You'd probably know the games they've made, but I can be fucked to list those too.
WINDOWS STORE GOOD
EPIC STORE BAD
I am not le zoomer...I am le boomer! le sips!
>Already bought Mordhau, Kiwami 2, DMC 5, Sekiro, and RE2 on Steam this year
>Haven't paid for a single EGS game
Feels good.
Thanks again Epic, I really appreciate you paying for my copies.
I'll be sure to continue pirating all EGS games.
Are you retarded? I mentioned indie games because it's reasonable to assume that is an indie developer. If he isn't, then he's not getting any of the 88% offered by Epic anyway — his publisher gets it — so he shouldn't be shilling for Epic. Maybe it's more likely that he's not a developer at all, but either way, you're a goddamn idiot if you believe that my post was an endorsement of indie games.
Halo and Sekiro are on Steam (and sadly not DRM-free).
>When's the last time they did something cool and exciting?
When's the last time any of these companies have done something exciting or cool?
>ooga booga I only half goy ooga booga I only suck this corporation cock, not that one ooga booga I only circumcise my kids if steam say so
Who cares? Ghost recon is a dead series.
I didnt say shit about valve or ubisoft. I was just point out how stupid and nonsensical your post was, kind of like this one.
>Cheaper
Only if you live in America, and maybe canada too or some shit I dunno. The rest of the world thigns are way different. In my shithole country, I can buy VTM: Bloodlines 2 for 110 bucks on both steam and GOG, but because Epic has no regional pricing, if I were to buy it there the price would jump to over two hundred bucks due to conversion.
Shit's already mad expensive here, to the point I have really think if it's worth spending that much money on a new game, with 'no' being the overwhelming conclusion. Then comes in fucking Epic god damn Games Store, buy exclusive rights, and makes the game nearly twice as expensive because their store is fucking shit and doesn't have regional pricing, and they expect me just turn around and sprad my ass cheeks if I don't want to wait a whole year?
Man, fuck you.
>ubi wants people to buy it off uplay anyway
>know that people would rather buy from uplay than from epic store
>they gladly take money from epic so the game won't be on steam, which they know would cut into their uplay profits
yves guillermot 4d chess
>still coming to terms with how businesses operate
Must be nice to be young
I need a new CPU, but I'm an idort. I'm just listing games people will actually play.
I actually like the windows store, if only because I just want a place where I can download my games if I need to. I don't want a launcher or any of that shit. Just an online repository. GoG is also good, but their selection is not great.
>exclusive to the Epic store
I doubt it. It's going to have mandatory Uplay and buying on Epic will be useless and pointless since you need to use Uplay no matter what, so buying from Epic is basically pointless and more inconvenient.
Sorry user, your gaslighting doesn't work on me.
Epic is however based as FUCK for paying for all my games.
True bro tier move on their part.
>buying things is being a bootlicker
Im not even saying you should be a buyfag, but this is just plain stupid.
This, why buy from epic when u can buy from uplay??
>i dont want a launcher
But you are okay with xbox being forced into your OS as bloat.
OK
But it's not exclusive. The deal is just "don't put it on steam"
forgot pic
Don't they get paid even if the game sells like shit or something?
>I only buy game if they come out on this store if same game not in this store then game is shit
For an indie they are already in the black after a deal like that so yes.
For a large publisher they get a good deal but still need to make shit back because inflated budgets
I don't need to run the xbox app at any point though. I can just open games from the start menu. The background stuff is already built into Windows by default, using Steam doesn't change that.
Or GOG, or GMG or MSS or else.
>bitching about something means you dont understand it
That was my entire point. I know why this shit is happening, but I still fucking hate it.
Must be nice to not have reading comprehension
Nah, the game's not shit, I'm just not paying for it.
Epic already did.
Have fun dipshit, I'm too busy enjoying other games to get upset over fucking ubishit of all things
>pirating a game means you thing its shit
This is your brain on communism
So you're a steam bootlicker, gotcha.
Yeah, but the whole revenue split debacle was heavily geared towards indie devs, not AAAs, and GOG is a place that a ton of indie devs release their games, and thrive, on. Tim would say how their store have, or had, a better revnue split for indies than Steam, which made their store better for indie developers, but ignored GOG, why? Because their beef isn't with GOG, it's with Steam, they just want to shit on Steam while targeting it's place at the top.
>Ubishit
Nigger
>NO NO FUCK PRIVATE BUSINESSES DOING DEALS BETWEEN THEMSELVES FUCK THEM
Ok, commie.
>saved them from a hostile takeover from vivendi a while back
Are you sure being partially owned by Tencent counts as being "saved"?
Who are you to speak on behalf of all? I for one always disliked steam
>not buying on epic makes you a valve bootlicker
Its like these chinks dont know other stores exist
wtf i'm a socialist chapocel now
Congratulations?
Nah, I've bought games on GoG, Uplay (but only for $5 or less), developer websites, and even Origin, I just refuse to pay for EGS games.
And also the Microsoft Store, because it's fucking awful.
Chink
Gaben needs to act fast. I don't know if they realize the shit they're in.
AssCreed because I like history, fuck you. Far Cry and Splinter Cell (RIP?) are also fun.
Corporations. Publicly traded companies. They are literally given more rights you than are as a person in exchange for following some extra rules... and as we all know, you can easily bend them.
Absolutely based
To big to fail mentality is whats killing steam right now.
All they care about is messing with VR and ignoring every other thing they abandoned in the last 5 years.
First they wanted to be xbox and have all the movies music and tv, then they wanted to be nintendo and make retarded hardware like steamboxes and more.
Now they rely on other devs just to get a flagship game out because they literally cant do it themselves anymore.
That said, Boneworks does look bretty foon
Am I the only one who has always avoided buying Ubisoft games from Steam anyway?
The majority of them also require a Uplay account, last time I checked, which probably means you have to log in to Steam and Uplay. So when I want a Ubisoft game, I just get it from Uplay. Of course, I don't want Ubisoft games very often, and the last two I did want (AC3 and AC4) were given away for free before I decided to actually buy them. But regardless, I don't want a Steam copy of a game that requires Uplay, and I don't want an Epic copy of a game that requires Uplay either.
Can Epic copies of Ubisoft games run without a Uplay account?
t. commie tranny pedo
Me, a lot of them :)
Yeah real fucking smart, spending Millions on exclusivity deals to lower your own sale while most people won't bother to migrate because the already established platform is much much better and most people already have a library on it
Which shit they are in?
Literally nobody who goes to Epic will leave Steam.
you've literally been brainwashed by an online toy store. How is this even possible lol
Literally all Steam needs to to is lower their revenue split. At this point indie devs and even Epic are shitting on Steam because of it, so much so they even go as far as to claim that they'll release the games on Steam if the cut was lowered.
If steam does that and Epic doesn't fulfill their end of the deal, people will call them out on their bullshit, and indies will no longer be able to use the 'b-but muh revenue split' excuse that they love to spout as if it's the one and sole reason they picked Epic over Steam, and will be revelaed as the shitbags that they are if they keep accepting Epic's money for exclusive rights even after complaining so much about Steam's split.
Still better than a chink
They will when the only new games coming to Steam are indieshit.
Not him, but I think it's more that younger PC players won't bother with Steam at all. Valve have no games to pull them in, but millions of them are playing Fortnite already.
>buy ubisoft game
>have to install uplay anyway
It's not illegal, but Ubisoft is shit anyway.
I use both, I'm not autistic so I don't care which platform opens up in the background when I click a games desktop icon. The vast majority dont care either
>retarded hardware like steamboxes
the steamboxes thing made no fucking sense.. like I get the concept of "we want to attract console gamers by making things simple" but the way steam machines worked was no different than buying a pre-built computer. they should have had a standard spec like consoles
Anyone with an integrity already knows that epic is shit, eslecially with the way they just put linux gaming 6ft under.
The only people who are geniunely advocating for epic have a political agenda against steam for not cowtowing and censoring their store.
>actually wanting to be a fucking tranny
Fuck this place. Fuck you, niggers.
atleast I'm not a chinese slave
>caring about ubisoft games
please leave
Zoomers don't play on PC.
>they even go as far as to claim that they'll release the games on Steam if the cut was lowered.
They were bluffing, i.e., lying.
Epic's exclusivity deals are LITERALLY its only advantage right now, so saying they would stop making such deals is basically saying they would give up and fade into obscurity like Origin.
>implying the younger kids playing fortnite have gaming pcs.
Pc is a boomer platform, these kids play on their phones/ps4
>people will leave their thousand dollars accounts
No.
>Fortnite
The majority of Fortnite users are f2p. While the not being cultivating to the young is an argument, the tendency is for the young to leave for console play anyway.
Yeah it was valve going full retard for sure.
I'm still extremely pissed off at steam for not properly supporting the xbox elite controller.
Heres a fun fact though, its supported just fine on steamOS and has been for literally years. They cant be assed to port it over to the rest of steam despite already having the functionality figured out.
And if they cant even do that why should I expect them to do anything else?
>F2P
What do you think the majority of Steam users are, user?
>im not autistic, i just dont have a backbone
B4 you call me a steam shill, think about the fact you give money to a business that openly says you dont matter when you could easily be pirating their games.
Buyfags are pathetic
Not really.
Believe or not, AAA games are largely irrelevant nowadays, especially on PC.
This is the same platform where a game like Rising Storm 2 outsold the last CoD game.
Before asking for Steam to lower their cut, do you know how much of Steam profits are used with expenses?
>The vast majority dont care either
Citation needed
It's ubishit, they've always done that. Not that it matters, wherever you buy it on PC you still need to use the uplay cancer as well.
This.
It's why I pirate everything.
But if this user is a buycuck, then not this, he's just a retarded shill.
Epic is a SJW store, so Japs will never go there.
>expenses
So a company has to have ever increasing profits for itself instead of offering reasons to keep devs on board?
Maybe if they didnt blow a few billion on movie deals
Remember when you could get all the mad max with mad max?
>Publishers release on their own platform and egs
>everyone hates egs
>people who want the game buy it directly from publisher
>100% revenue gained
Epic is helping publishers by spending their own money
>What do you think the majority of Steam users are, user?
While there's no concise research, consider that 37% of games sold on steam are never played. This shows that steam users are in fact rather liberal with money, buying bundles and games they never play but find on sale.
all those take big cuts too
ubisoft is just playing epic like a fiddle
literally nobody is buying ubishit from epic, the only reason people endured 2 drms because their library is on steam, now thats gone, they will buy from uplay directly
In my free time, I complete my Have list in MobyGames. 260 games with just GOG and 2013/14 DRM-Free bundles.
>So a company has to have ever increasing profits for itself instead of offering reasons to keep devs on board?
Pretty much they do, unless they cut some features or add more ways to make money. The problem in demanding a lower cut is that it's too arbitrary: Steam offer much more features to the customer than Epic, which require more maintenance.
>Maybe if they didnt blow a few billion on movie deals
You would have to prove that those billions (if they are billions) actually took a large part of Steam revenue.
store.steampowered.com
The top 2 games, both F2P, make up more than the rest combined, including Warframe, which is F2P.
Bribing POLITICIANS is illegal.
Bribing corporations is business.
What the fuck is Envoy 2?
>Bribery is illegal
Epic offers guaranteed revenue agreements, which are not bribes. Basically, they say to a publisher "We guarantee your game will sell X amount of copes, and if you game does not sell X amount of copies, we will pay you the difference". This is a type of business contract that's been used at B&M stores for decades, maybe longer.
That, on top of the Epic store's significantly reduced fees, is causing publishers to jump ship. And it's only getting started.
The top 2 games make a 1.5 million. Steam makes 47 million active users per day. Even if you consider that half are idling, that's 22 million users in other games.
Ubi is just trying to drive sales to there own launcher by using the epic store. Im sure epic realized this and doesnt care.
Im sure this will bite them in the ass evtually
These are the most popular games user. Come on.
No idea. It's a buck though. Maybe some streamer or something is pushing it.
why sell for both when Epic is willing to pay you a bonus for temp exclusivity?
beyond good and evik, rayman and blood dragon are good
Do people only support epic games to be contrarian or is it also shills.
contrarian shills
>These are the most popular games user. Come on.
Yes, doesn't change that at least 93% (if we consider 22mil) are playing other things.
The vast majority of those games were made before Ubi went to hell in a handbasket
The Chinese government pays shills online, true facts.
>PC players play "Epic exclusives" without having Epic launcher!
>Click here to find out their secrets!
>Chinamen hate them!
Personally, I don't so much support Epic as I think Steam is overrated trash.
Contrarians and consoleniggers.
Had a look at the steam discussions, apparently there's a hack to fake your player numbers. Interesting.
>Every games storefront starts with exclusives.
I've been enjoying helpfully reminding the Epic ragers (who are assuredly between the ages of 13 - 16) how Steam got off the ground. It's not really their fault they don't know, they were just too young. Or weren't even born yet.
Valve made their sole in-house IP, Half-Life, a Steam exclusive in order to barge their way into the digital distribution market. Then Valve started to snap up independent dev studios and projects, making those Steam exclusives. Team Fortress was not an IP created by Valve, they bought it and made it a Steam exclusive. Counter-Strike was not an IP created by Valve, they bought it and made it a Steam exclusive. Portal was not an IP created by Valve, they bought it and made it a Steam exclusive. Left 4 Dead was not an IP created by Valve, they bought it and made it a Steam exclusive. Dota was not an IP created by Valve, they bought it and made it a Steam exclusive. Same thing with whatever those Firewatch devs are working on, presumably a VR walking sim.
No one can defend the indisputable facts behind Valve's path to a 150 million installed base, so they just willfully ignore it and continue crying about Epic doing literally the exact same things to try and increase their own installed base. It's hilarious and I can't wait to see the Zoomer (You)s performing Olympic-level mental gymnastics in their pitiful attempt to defend Good Guy Valve.
Those were all mods of their games and Valve developed and funded the standalone versions.
it's also very shit.
at first it was a tactical shooter with characters that had minor abilities. so it was pretty Rainbow Six alrite.
then they kept adding more and more D.VA like characters. the "even if you suck at the game, you can score a kill with this shit dude". it worked for Ubi, popularity is very high ever since, but I just can't get myself to play the game anymore.
its' just shit.
