Like his special brings up a Pacman-like charge or a roulette to pick a material. For arguments sake, let's say he can only craft a 1x3 space, so swords and/or a 3 stack of blocks.
Wood-wood-wood makes a wooden sword with low dmg, but high knockback.
Wood-iron-iron makes a balanced iron sword
Wood-diamond-diamond makes make high dmg, low knockback
Anything else makes some terrain or whatever.
Other moves can just be the bow or pick-axe or something.
I haven't played in years, but that sounds cool to me.

Smash Bros needs Krystal as one more Star Fox rep. Her inclusion would be really, really cool, if it weren't clear that she wasn't featured anywhere else... in Star Fox Zero. She doesn't come on well when she's not a Star Fox character, and I'd rather she didn't be in any Star Fox series than anything else. So what do we do for her? Also, Steve literally isn't a character and cannot be made expressive (the latter of which is one of Sakurai's rules for third parties). Being faithful to the OG model and design (which falls in line with Sakurai's tendency for the default designs for guests) leaves Steve with stiff and unjointed limbs, an unbending torso, and a static face. Plus the sound effects in MC are severely less impactful or iconic so audio can't even make up for Steve's vocal silence unlike Mega Man or Pac-Man.

Rool is a character who should have been essential but he was left at the wayside by his own franchise. The only real icon missing would be Steve and a shooter fighter of some kind. I’d say DOOM guy over chief, since he carries more actual history in video games past simply being “the big one” at one time (looking at you chief). DOOM started it all, so it definitely deserves the spot over Halo representation.

DS only has Lucario because the DS literally didn't start ANY major franchises worth including, it was just a place where a lot of them did really well.

Ace Attorney and Rhythm Heaven just flourished there, they didn't start there. Both started on the GBA, If I recall correctly in Japan Ace Attorney was actually on some other weird platform from the get-go as well as Nintendo's GBA actually.
