So is Snoy officially dead? I see why theyre not at the E3 they have absolutely no exclusives other than Days Gone. Why would anyone even buy a ps5? They could expect no games and therefore not buy it.

People will buy the ps5 because it is the hot new item. That is it. There is a significant number of people that do not care about FF7 because they are simply casuals - they want the new madden, the new rockstar game, the new last of us (which will certainly be a launch or near launch title).

It's probably going to be $500 for the system. $600 was a disaster when the PS3 came out. Every time a new console comes out there is always massive hype on launch day (except maybe the wii u), especially for playstation.

Yeah, eventually FF7 will come out for other systems, but by then everyone that wanted to play it will have done so by then. Most people that would be interested in that game already have a ps4 and will migrate to ps5 if necessary.

I understand your points on madden, but ps4 is a dudebro console as well. Most casuals that only play the sports games or gta will probably not care unless the price of the console is outrageous compared to the xbox.

I really liked the psp prequel to it. But I feel I can wait for it as its also the only game on the platform I half care about.

Yeah it is honestly the only game I am interested in as well. I am going to wait on getting it though.

Sony will definitely lose money on the console sales, but make it up in other ways like software though a large install base around the world. They have made no secret how much money they make on ps plus subscriptions, so that is probably a part of the plan.

I imagine they're only losing hardware money. They make it all back from PS+ Subscriptions and from their PS Store. They want customers on their consoles spending money there. That's why they try and lure people in with exclusive goods.

ignore the white noise about "muh exclusive games" being a driving force for consoles. wiiu had abunch of them and didn't sale for shit despite being a successor to a ps2 tier console. It all comes down to marketing, and intial release. and Guess what? The wiiu and xbone failed ungoldy high thanks to these factors. Sony only thrives when it's only competition is floundering around like headless chickens. But now their going into the next gen with the switch and the next box as competition. One has a much better marketing strategy than it's counterpart and the other has been humbled by its asswhooping
I'm not saying sony won't win next gen. That's up in the air. But i don't see the ps5 hitting ps4 numbers if the next box opening is stronger than last time
