He had a pretty succesful career, but his fans are emotion-driven millennials who accuse him of always delivering unfinished games because MGSV was unfinished, and constantly make baseless accusations about him based on nothing but the fact that they didn't like MGSV. Something in the middle of those. He's a very talented game designer who was fed fantasies of filmmaking along the way, which completely ruined his output. Also the brunt of what made the MG series shine cannot be put on him completely. Konami had some insanely talented people during the 90's and early 2000's working on those games and other series.

I applaud his attempts to do interesting things with game design but the execution is almost always lacking. He's a fucking awful hack writer and he mostly poorly rehashes the works of far more talented people. He hasn't gotten worse, like some people think, he just now has the budget and autonomy for a lot more self indulgence.

even using OSP mods it is piss fucking easy because the stealth is a fucking joke. huge wide open areas with a max of 2 guards patrolling long sections, easy as fuck to sneak in without even doing anything. they are often blind as a bat and there are a total of maybe 3 cameras in the ENTIRE GAME...

ground zeroes was actually the good gameplay one, since the area was tightly crafted, had enemies everywhere on patrol routes and cameras all over the place like classic MGS. add to the fact that you couldn't just tranq people and abuse fulton recovery memes or just leave them in the middle of nowhere like in TPP AND to extract people you had to literally carry/transport them to your helicopter for extraction..

"Hack" is not a buzzword when used in reference to Kojima. The word is slang for a writer who produces sloppy derivative work. Kojima plagiarizes extensively and has done so his entire career. It's appropriate to call him a hack.

Hasn't produced a good game in over a decade now, appears to have lost all sense of dignity and respect for the medium so now he just seems to want to make films.
