This is correct. I want to believe this will be good, but I'm expecting butchered content, lackluster combat, fucked up pricing and probably one or two other surprises.
It was a problem in IX. It was mostly okay, but there are 5-6 things I can recall off the top of my head that were totally rewritten for no apparent reason, mostly big chunks of scenes. Everything sounded good, so you'd never have any idea if you never played it in Japanese. People sometimes say VIII's localization was bad, and it had its weird spots, but I think it was better overall than IX's. X's was pretty damn good for the most part. I haven't played any FF past X in Japanese because I'm not a big fan of post X FF, but from what little I've seen, they seem pretty good for the most part, most complaints seem exaggerated.
And yeah, I'm sure FF VII R's localization will be pretty good for the most part, I'm just interested in seeing where it improves and where it's not as good as the original, and if they finally translate Tifa's sexy underwear correctly, assuming you can still find them in the game and they have the same name as before.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be a cross gen title but the PS5 version won't be available for it at launch, it will instead be available to be played on a PS5 through backwards compatibility and will release as a "remaster" with new elements and better graphics/fps 6 months after PS5's launch.
Best case scenario for the Remake's release is December 2019 right now, that's what is being communicated in the offices but they're not really confident about it so they aren't planning on announcing a date until late 2019. That said, the remake will be released by Spring 2020 at the very VERY latest.
You'll soon read and see a lot about this game. It's going to be released on xbox and PC too at some point down the line but way after the PS4 and PS5 versions. Sony is planning to push this title extremely hard this year and they even made a deal with Square Enix to cover a lot of the marketing budget.

Not any specific one without clues, and I expected E3, but it's not surprising. A lot of people could've expected it, especially after the dumpster fire that their first attempt was. Kitase called it a PS4 Remake because that's what it is, it's a remake that's going to be on the PS4. Not PS4 only the first trailer said First to PS4 not only on PS4.

Adding to this the First to PlayStation 4 branding was ditched it was in both the PSX and E3 trailers. So in all likelihood they are saving the other platform announcements for E3
