What's the best final fantasy?
What's the best final fantasy?
4 5 or 7
...7?
It was weird of SE to make ProJared the main character.
whatever the last digit this is.
Goddamn hipster motherfucker.
sorry I think you meant this one
Nope, it's this one.
> 8>9
Someone hasn't played these in years
9
based
Tactics
X
Only Ivalice games matter
is overrated
Unironically 10 but every other game does something better than 10 at the expense of fucking up in other ways.
Nier Automata.
IV was the comfiest.
VI was the best
III was the most difficult
VII is overrated
X is where things started to gone wrong
XII is A for effort at least their tried something different
XIII and XV just get me the hell out of this ride
XI best mmo
The ones I didn't mention aren't worth anyone's time
V is the most Final Fantasy out of all Final Fantasies. Crystals, fantastic worlds with some ridiculous stuff thrown into the mix and a dash of high tech stuff, mechanical superbosses, job system, great music. It's the quintessential FF game.
>Didn't mention Tactics, V, or Vagrant Story
Yeah that's gonna be a no from me dawg
VIII.
>Best music
>Best character customization
>Best plot
>Best main character
>Best bosses
>Best world map and setting
>Best side quests
>Best cutscenes
Come and fight me faggots.
11

IV is the best classic game, XII is the best 3D game
Bro I don't play shit.
VII is better than XII
based
He said 3d. You think VII is 3d?lmaoing at your life
>I don't play shit
>Played XIII and XV
Based, 4 is the best by far.
>this idiot doesn't know what 3D means
Whatever the first one you played was, 95% of people like their first one most.
6 > 9 > 7 > 10 > 5 > 8 > 4 > 12 > 13 > 15 > 3 > 1 >2
14 > 11
ironic 3d is still 3d
>14>11
>WoW>FF
???
I found the gameplay and story to be more fun and engaging. Plus it feels more like FF than 13 or 15 did.
I like VII, but the English localization is still awful and XII does something much more daring and ambitious with its mechanics than VII. XII felt like a real evolution for the series (if we exclude XI, which is perhaps better than both but I’m excluding it because I don’t feel the MMOs rightly count) whereas VII just feels like a linear transition to polygonal graphics without designing the game itself around the freedom that 3D game design affords
13 and 15 are unironically worse than 3 (DS ver)
V was best
This was better. Even the part with all the fucking re-fights
Job system is best system.
>XII felt like a real evolution for the series
I dont' think you were alive in 1997.
>no soully default.
Thanks but I stick with the original.
Lightning Returns.
>all these FFV responses
Y'all alright, take the day off tomorrow.
I was, but I wasn’t really into Final Fantasy until VIII came out, which prompted me to play the rest of the series. Which then led to my conclusion that IV was a much better game than any Final Fantasy released at that time, especially because it was so directly comparable to its successors in a way that future installments wouldn’t be i.e. X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, and XV all have radically different gameplay mechanics, while everything before them were only slightly distinguished from one another
based gameplay fag
Oh lol, if you're going to abreviate the titles at least use the numerical system.
eh, fair enough.
I'm a sucker for multiverse shit
so I liked BD's better
The materia system alone was a complete revolution when it came to anything offered at the time with turn-based battles. I know people say you can "combine" things in V, but VII takes it to some ridiculous level where physical abilities can mix with magical abilities. Furthermore, the introduction of Limit Breaks vs Desperation Attacks in VI was a nice touch.
The vast expanse of secrets in VII also revolutionized the game along with all the mini games and very subtle and deep storyline. VII was a game that forced EVERY OTHER genre in video games to try and emulate it. From all the cutscenes, latin choir music for a boss fight, character interactions, secrets, story telling etc.
This is not to say other games didn't have story or what not, but VII was the one that ignited the spark to what we have today with cinematics and movie games that is prevalent today.
>Waifus
>V
Hell yeah, this man has taste.
I want ultimate pirate waifu to dominate me in her PS1 Patchy the Pirate voice.
>Good Tier
1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10
>Flawed but Still Good Tier
8, 9, 12, 13, 15
>Shit Tier
2
Can't speak to the MMOs. This just goes to illustrate why it's so hard for people to come to a conclusion. Personally, depending on the day, I could say 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, or 10.
shit rankings
I only played 4-7, 9 and Tactics is there any FF games worth checking out?
Bravely Default/Second
I recently got into 12. Gambit system is the best fucking thing to ever be added to real time RPGs
vi or vii for me
Maybe it’s because I’m a perpetual latecomer to cultural watersheds like the one you describe, but I felt all those things about Metal Gear Solid which released a year later, sure, but it had voice acting and more compelling gameplay for someone like me; whose introduction to game design genealogy was the arcade/PC gaming and not RPG.
Maybe VII was more remarkable to fans who had been there from the jump? I can respect that, but I never felt truly wowed by a Final Fantasy game until it told me to try writing boolean statements.
>playing JRPGs
Yikes. Final Fantasy must be one of the most overrated games of all time. Its gameplay is terrible and its story is a convoluted clichéd weeb mess (just like almost any other Japanese game, of course). Kill yourselves, losers.
8 is worth looking at, but it may rub you the wrong way. Play it for a few hours at least and see if you can get into it. It's broken in a number of ways, but it's a favorite of mine.
1 is old, but it's still wonderful. Just make sure you don't play one of the later versions that pussifies the game. Either play the NES version (optimally with a bugfix hack,) or FFOrigins for PS1. Every version after that started changing core mechanics and makes the game boring.
10 is great. Ignore the haters. It has one of the snappiest battle systems in the series and a beautiful world.
12 will give you some of the best designs in the series, but the gameplay can be a drag. Luckily, the newer releases on modern systems add some features that make the game better like a class system and a fast forward button.
>14 over 11
>combat more engaging
Holy shit just fuck off to any other modern MMO and leave FF alone. Congrats you love the cancer that killed MMOs.
Anyone who likes final fantasy is either a faggot, a woman or a virgin. Have you ever seen a real man play a final fantasy game before? Exactly.
XII was good but still had issues
>battle system is basically just a worse version of Chrono Trigger
>Reks should have survived and been the protagonist
>Vayne didn't really have any personal interaction with the heroes until the very end.
>absolutely horrendous bullshit when it comes to getting the best gear in the game, no matter the version
Seethe more
Final fantasy X
>Had the perfect funny/clueless main character.
>First in the series to stray from the European styling of the franchise.
> Cool weapons
> Relateable characters
> Turn based combat that stayed true to the series
> Progression was easy yet rewarding
> Early 2000's nostalgia
> Biggest problem was the forced blitzball loss
Even if its not the considered the "Best" by most it will always be my favorite and hold a special place in my heart
7
It's not even up for debate, series went downhill after that to the point that they needed to remake it to save their asses
X and VII were pretty good, just play Dragon Quest instead though.
When I look at those flaws in the context of Matsuno being sacked after working himself to death on the game and a new director having to pick up the pieces, I find them easy to forgive. Doggedly ambitious yet flawed games are always more impressive to me. Now that I think on it, FFVII could also be described as “ambitious yet flawed”, but idk man, there were so many hot games dropping in ‘97 it doesn’t stand out in my memory.
>forced Blitzball loss
You can win. It's just fucking tough.
>14 > 11
Very poor taste
Hey, DQfag. I played DQ11 late last year as my first DQ and loved it. What other DQ games are worth playing? I tried to do DQ1, but it's too archaic even for me, and I love FF1 and Phantasy Star 1.
switch 15 and 13 for me please
14 doesn't even have Puppet Master.
I want my Tsukushi back
4-10 is the height of the series, but reasonable people can disagree on the best games within that span...unless they say 8.
If you liked XI you should probably just emulate VIII
5 is the best IMO but 4-8 are all great.
5 and 8.
>forced blitzball loss
git gud
not really. exploiting the retard AI is pretty simple. i don't even bother recruiting players because the original aurochs are more than good enough for me to dominate everyone.
>4-10 is the height of the series, but reasonable people can disagree on the best games within that span
This
>unless they say 8
VIII isn't at all my favorite but I still liked it. I dislike IV the most out of those games.
don't get me wrong i liked 8 (more than most people here i would say) but looking at it objectively it's very hard for me to say it's the best.
>> Biggest problem was the forced blitzball loss
lmao. you some kinda al bhed or something?
Thanks!
Fuck off, Wakka. You racist.
Tactics; XI. No contest.
you really should recruit Brother, biggs & wedge. Brother is hella op, and the other two are really good defense/goalies.
It always feels like people love Faris the most, nobody really cares for the other two.
oh i'm well aware of how to get all of the OP players. i've just played so much god damn blitzball that using the original aurochs is the only way to make it remotely interesting. and keepa actually becomes one of the best shooters in the game at level 99.
1,7, 10 are the only ones worth playing.
I'll say 1 for nostalgia, but it's probably 10
I guess you could say he's a real keepa.
Faris is a sexy pirate lady. Reina is just a boring princess, and Cara's just a little girl.
May not be forced but it was fuckin dumb, and you had to do it for wakkas ultimate weapon
I miss Ultros threads.
>>Best music
I'd argue that Crisis Core dunks on FFVIII in this category, but it's a matter of taste
>>Best character customization
No, almost any other FF does it better. The characters have no flare to them and all are identical. Same goes for 7
>>Best plot
Hahahahahaha, no. It's actually one of the worst, rivaled only by XIII
>>Best main character
Squall is basically lightning, but more bitchy. The best boy is Zidane
>>Best bosses
I think that would be 12, but again it's a matter of taste
>>Best world map and setting
Nope
>>Best side quests
Nope
>>Best cutscenes
That would be X and I fucking hate X
I prefer Lenna as the compassionate character.
>>Good Tier
>10
But that's wrong, you fucking faggot
>muh time travel plot
>muh waifu Jesus
No.
>Best music
Fine
>Best character customization
LR does it better
>Best plot
No lmao. Goes to either VII or X. VIII is a candidate for the worst
>Best main character
Lmao no. Even more unlikable than Lightning. At least she beats the crap out of moogles and Snow
>Best bosses
No
>Best world map and setting
No. Goes to XII
>Best side quests
No
>Best cutscenes
No. Most later FFs do this better
FF15
Wrong chart FF13 is best game ever.
best battlesystem
This is right chart.
4, hands down.
Based
>all the people saying FF4
I'm home.
