I like what I am seeing, but its still Midgar. I really hope Episode 1 isn't just Midgar, but they might expand it in such a huge way that I could be okay with it. Midgar feels insanely unique within FF7, and it deserves being explored more. I don't want to spend 60 dollars on a 10 hour experience that has to wait 2 more years for the rest of it.

The problem is 7 is very big, with tons of unique areas that copy pasta isn't a good viable method UNLESS the overworld is old school small model on the map. If its XV open world, shit will take 3-4 more years. Even just getting the scale of the world right with how massive some structures are would be hard. I do think we are getting small model on map and not XV open world, just the towns/cities/dungeons will be more indepth to compensate.

That whole "system" is something that mostly exists outside of battle in the materia menue of the main in-game menue, something that wasn't shown in any remake trailers yet and we don't even know the extent of that thing called "command menue" yet either, at most only the "set shortcuts" section.

For all we know it might be possible to set the game to pause automatically any time you enter the command menue.

However long you want it to take. Play and stop. Come back and play. Stop and come back. Just depends if you're enjoying yourself or not.

It's actually fine to have this as your default combo as long as you're not constantly moving around to cover everything with your character's attack range that can leave you exposed and in danger. I've also got it handy for just one use (that's the one of the combo on this screen) and for the occasional use when I want to hold it down for a longer period of time.

At any rate, if you want to switch up your normal attacks, you're able to do that by pressing Z. Just hold the attack once and attack with anything.

I don't like Lulu's design because it doesn't really fit with the psuedo-Polynesian and/or islandish feel everybody else has. Also she has no story importance and could've been cut out completely. In a vacuum I guess she's a cool design but in FFX she looks out of place

People may shit on Final Fantasy VIII. But when people think back on Final Fantasy VII, they remember it having Final Fantasy VIII graphics and visuals somehow.

aerith’s design has some new touches. flower necklace instead of a bow, bangle bracelets, belt hanging from jacket with gold zippers and studs, tie on dress. it’s a really nice way to subtly update an iconic design

She has some times when she is snippy like if the player tries to hit on her in Guadosalam, and I think the game WANTS you to think she's an ice queen, but she's not really like that.

What's going to be in short supply is people whose first experience with FF7 is the remake. If you skim any related thread, everyone argues over significant spoiler plot points without much concern anymore so nobody is going to get a 'fresh' play of it in a way.

I think she was Advent Children as well. She was pretty damn bad, trying way too hard to sound like and airy. Would have been a fucking disaster if the remake script is anything like the original game. Cloud acts the way he thinks a confident badass Soldier 1st class is supposed to act. He replaced Zack in his own memories with himself to make his memories consistent with that persona.

In reality he's a loser who couldn't cut it. And he comes to terms with that and accepts who he is.

Jet as Barret was perfect, and I also liked Cid kind of sounding like R. Lee Ermey.
