That's gonna be 95% of RP, sadly. First person RP can get people into character better, but it can be a huge turn off for others because it can make it too "personal" and usually people who RP in the first person tend to be bad at RP, clingy, or both.

Honestly this shit didn't start getting bad until mid WOTLK, like, it was bad in goldshire since vanilla on most RP realms, but it only got worse when people stopped having things to do at end game, and the introduction of worgen has caused the most damage of all, because half of RP realm roleplayers seem to be worgen who play generic big bad woof and its super fucking dull and boring.

I miss when RP realms rules were enforced, before using meme names and spamming in yell would get you temp banned from the server for a month, now its part for the course.

At least blizzard realised that probably a third of their remaining players play on moonguard US or Argent Dawn EU, and have started to implement better RP tools like cross faction speech potions

Most RPers have some mental illness and when you couple this with MMOs you meet people that are actually fucking insane.

I RP on F-chat these days and even that has a ton of attention whores. RP is a lot of fun if you meet someone who is a competent writer and is mentally sound though, just avoid drama at all costs.

People try too hard to make a cool character, I think. They lose perspective and the result is just cringey. Be a little subtle about it, maybe start by RPing a janitor or peasant so you can understand how to act like someone else without going all johnny depp about it.

I used to play on an RP server during Cata/MoP and never saw that. If anything, RP servers are full of narcissists and inevitably devolve into clicks like high school.
Maybe you should stop playing on Moonguard and other ERP servers.

Classic should bring back RP if Blizzard clamps down hard on rule breakers.
