I'm ready for E3 and Metroid 5.

Well, what's your favorite

my man? We gotta have some threads on here tonight that aren't just Final Fantasy.

Dread is next year at best.

suit: who cares since it's either a mess of pixels or it's first person? I guess the first fusion suit is cool.
game: AM2R
ost: super

but I like final fantasy...

Bitches need to learn to respect the purple.

I don't actively DISLIKE Final Fantasy, but that can't be the only thing on this board.

Where do I start with Metroid series?

Again, Super and Zero Mission.

It could be announced this year though.

Yeah, in 2023.

Super Metroid for the SNES

Main line:
Zero Mission
AM2R
Super Metroid
Metroid Fussion

Then:
Prime 1, 2, 3

Optional:
Return of Samus, Samus Returns, Prime Hunters, Prime Pinball

AVOID:
Other M, Galactic Troopers

2d Metroid isn't the kind of super game they reveal years in advance.

Why is Samus so much sexier in her suit than without it?
Why does Dark Samus make my dick diamonds?

No, Metroid 5, I like both series, and I just want them both, but we already now Prime 4 will take a while.

How do we stop the zero suit?

Attached: 1528629489377.png (1264x1326, 259K)

You can really start anywhere you want. Samus Returns is a good 2D game to start with. Same with Zero Mission or Fusion. Can't go wrong with Prime 1, too.

Why contain it? Let it spill over to the spinoffs and sequels. Let the porn pile up in the catalog. In the end, they'll beg us to clothe them.

Damn, I'm not the biggest fan of the Fusion suit but that pic is SICK

>Samus Returns is a good 2D game
not only is it a mediocre game it's also unrepresentative of the series and features crutches (scan pulse) and weird mechanics (free aim and counter).

Attached: 1541816221361.gif (498x251, 3.32M)

the artist made a metroidvania of his own called Iconoclasts y'know

Attached: 1556295851399.png (565x676, 136K)

I don't mind scan pulse because some of the shit in older games is really obtuse. It should really have a recharge or something so you have to at least try to solve things yourself first.

Free aim and counter is fun. I want a dual-stick Metroid on console that'll let me run around while I free-aim with the other stick.

Attached: 1547754737387.gif (540x270, 2.48M)

Oh, I've finished Iconoclasts, just didn't recognize it. Not surprised the guy is a fan of Fusion, no offense meant.

>gradually increasing zero suit presence in the games
i can't think of much that would make me more frustrated

Why do people act like the Zero Suit is a huge deal? It wasn't in Samus Returns outside of the ending. Hell, it's barely been in any of the actual Metroids outside of Other M. It's totally overblown and only widely recognized because of Smash.

The devs, for their little credit, did at least notice there problem: Hidden secrets are really just fake bits of wall you have to shoot. The solution, the cure, would be to overhaul how levels are constructed, how secrets are telegraphed, and what puzzles are used to hide goodies. What they did was they treated the symptom. They took the visor from Super Metroid and they made it faster.
"solve things yourself" yeah, like spamming bombs on identical tiles is a real challenge.

It's because it's so massively popular because of smash.

The risk exists that it could get more focus because of smash popularity just like the risk exists that captain falcon would probably be a showy maniac falcon punching people in a new f-zero.

did anyone ever port am2r to vita?

can we also talk about metriod-like games too?

Find a flaw.

Attached: Metroid_Fusion_box_art.jpg (320x320, 40K)

The NTSC version is so good for that cutscene. Samus is too dainty in the PAL/Trilogy version.
youtube.com/watch?v=B05lLkhZpJM

Is there some kind of quick guide for more advanced mechanics in Super? I'm not trying to go full autismo speedrun just get more out of the game and learn some fancy tech to play with.

If Samus Returns is indicative of the other games, then it's safe to say Nintendo won't feature it too much.
Is it weird that Metroid is probably my 3rd favorite game series ever, but I generally dislike most Metroidvanias? Hollow Knight was mad boring for me. Not a fan of Castlevanias. I've beaten every Metroid except for 2, though, and I love the series to death.

I think they're complaining about threads being derailed by Zero Suit porn, not about the presence in the games

Pal version of the phazon suit cut scene was stupid as hell

It's called gitting gud.

I have yet to play Iconoclasts, but Noitu Love 2 is great.

What the fuck was his problem?

Zero mission. GBA emulation is ez and it's the first game in the series chronologically. It's short, fun, and poppin.

They revealed Metroid Fusion as Metroid IV back in 2001 for the GBA only for it to release in 2002 for the GBA.

Moss growing on metal isn't very tasty

This.

I'll check it out at some point, when I'm not so busy with my current games and I actually beat Metroid 2.

Also, can I get your best Metroid-related reaction images in here? Like this I need to pad my folder.

Yes.
Hollow Knight and Metroid are the comfiest when combined together

Attached: Samus finds the Knight.jpg (2000x1500, 206K)

My god, they really butchered that cutscene

Here's one, since you're such a reasonable fellow

Attached: 1549805439401.png (500x910, 323K)

For me Hollow Knight shines in the boss fights, especially at endgame with the Godmasters DLC which is basically a bunch of boss rushes and all of the bosses available with several reworked variants for added challenge. The world is beautiful and nice to explore but the actual mechanics are kind of boring and a bit too basic in the overworld. The mechanics really shine in the boss fights where you have very few gimmicks to rely on and basic movement and position is key, even going for a melee build and just using jump/dash/slash is riveting as fuck in many boss fights.

Super or Zero Mission from the clasic line, and then the Primes just play them in order.

The original games for NES and Game Boy are optional, if you are into retro games by all means, but you wouldn't miss much other wise, and they are NOT a good starting point.

Attached: good shit.png (1280x720, 612K)

i would actually recommend giving
"a robot named Fight"(the pic i posted) a try, its a rouglike that plays almost exactly like super metroid, and its being constantly updated and worked on by the dev(in fact the next major update just hit beta)

give it a shot anyway, there is barely any dialogue in the game apart from the opening sequence

>For me Hollow Knight shines in the boss fights
Yikes, really hope the Hornet game doesn't pander to retards like you and that they focus more on the exploration that made HK's base game so good.

Are Hollow Knightfags the equivalent of Quakefags in Metroid threads?

This Metroid thread is for good vibes only; please do not insult fellow Metroidfags.

Anyone have that gif of Samus with her hands in the air while the screen is shaking? It's yellow. Looks like old Metroid 2 concept art, or something. It's funny but I don't have it.

No, because they're less autistically sperging out about how their game is better than the original.
Sides the crossover art is good shit

Attached: im angry. ANGRY ABOUT GHOSTS.gif (354x304, 107K)

Hornet will be better for exploration because she'll have more advanced mechanics. I love HK but sorry m8 the movement and combat mechanics are just too damn basic to make the game very interesting while exploring the overworld. I said the world was beautiful, but actually playing it is understandably boring for many people.

Always amusing to me that my brain interprets the shot where he narrows as Ridley with his mouth agape. Always takes a half a second to put together that it's his neck.

Based. Thanks, chief.

huuh

Attached: ranger.png (360x360, 2K)

>combat mechanics are just too damn basic
Which is exactly why focussing solely on boss battles was a mistake.

>I don't know who this guy is
His name is Joaquim Sandberg, he's a independent game developer, if you like Metroid, you should check out his games.

Hes most notable ones are Noitu love 2, The iconoclasts and Legend of princess.

The first one is dirt chap and the third one is free, I haven't played the second.

For all the Hollowfags in here right now
Can a bug that autistically spergs out about the sun take on the druggie Metroid cosplaying as Samus?

Attached: 1545602592493.png (1280x720, 501K)

I think my main issue with the game that made me drop it was a mix of that and stale environments. The art is pretty, but room after room after room is identical and it's kinda boring. There's no visually-distinct areas in a zone - every room just kinda has the same background and clutter in it. It's just this high-contrast crushed-black aesthetic with some haze over it. It's not awful by any means, but it was boring to just explore the game when everything looked so identical.

das a cute gif.

>There's no visually-distinct areas in a zone
There we go. That's why I find it troublesome to enjoy exploring in HK. Could never put it into words.

Unironically best edgelord suit. One of the best cutscenes too. Good taste.

Like, every ZONE is unique, but within a zone, every ROOM is identical. That was my problem. Dropped it after 3 hours - couldn't even refund it on Steam after 2 hours.
I might go back and give it another try, though.

>characters barely talk at all

>no disgusting sex fanservice ala the zero suit

>pixel hunter alpha
lol no

I'm not a big fan of Samus Returns, but I do appreciate how many unique backgrounds it has.

>Snorts Phazon
>Has the ancestry of metroids
>Also is somewhat space pirate
>Legitimately steals Samus' phazon suit to use as a basis for its new body
If anything it could be more like a Metroid cosplaying as a Space Pirate, that's actually cosplaying as Samus, all the while snorting radioactive meth through its organic shitshow of a costume

>MUH GRAPHIX

Chillax man. This isn't Fez or Undertale here. ESA is legit kino.

Yea, I never really got lost in Samus Returns, even with the map. Every room was visually unique so I could always tell where I was at within a zone.

It's always a weird feeling when you realize Dark Samus is a phazon enhanced Metroid with a phazon infested chozo suit.
And a sprinkle of regular ol' Samus.

Attached: 1495489319238.jpg (720x479, 49K)

Why are Metroid fans always at civil war with each other?

Hey it's better than SA-X
Whose literally just a pirated version of Samus' power suit, with only Samus' DNA in there, no Metroid or Space Pirate mixing into the equation at all.
Personally I just prefer Dark Samus as the "doppleganger" troupe over SA-X. the radioactive mutt has more character than that literal robot

"pixel hunting" isn't a term used for pixel art, you know.

Can a drawfag do this but with Dark Samus and phazon?
youtu.be/9JxrUlj7GvY?t=77

Some of us want to discuss the actual games and our favorite takes on the genre, while the others are mongoloids who just want to jerk off to ZSS porn. Somehow the latter are seen as victims, despite always starting every fight.

I wonder why they ditched her Prime 2 version 3 design. Maybe they thought it was too scary for a Metroid game? I liked how it was a callback to Metroid Prime’s original form.

Attached: 5BA52A54-8937-4E2B-BE27-1558D1249881.jpg (512x288, 25K)

Pfft, look at this fag that can't even take some civil war now and then

They're really not. Before E3 2017, though, this fanbase was a shithole. E3 2017 gave us hope for the future and the fanbase has been drastically improved since the announcement of Prime 4 / SR.

Go away, Doug.

I don't know how it applies to ESA though, since I never had trouble going through it. Maybe you just need to git gud?

>Next metroid game
>Fusion suit allows Samus to fuse with DNA of various other lifeforms to gain abilities
>Basically allows for the same thing as Fusion with the x dropping from enemies
>Also allows for certain items to be based off of specific DNA gained
>Get infected with Ridley DNA

>Doug
Who?

You're looking at it wrong. I also enjoy Dark Samus' characterization. Her evil laugh, the head tilt when you first encounter her, the fact that she shoots out the light crystal instead of engaging Samus directly, etc. That the SA-X lacks similar moments and is inferior is the wrong angle. The SA-X is a heartless killing machine that only wants to propagate itself. It's an amoeba magnified by a thousand. That gives it a wholly different mood than Dark Samus.

That’s not even happening in this thread and the faggot who was spamming yesterday either got banned finally or fucked off.

Way I see it they probably wanted to follow it up with actual armor.
Much like an unshelled crab, Dark Samus' Prime 2 model is all fleshy and organic to simulate that it's something that adapted itself into Samus' suit. While Prime 3 basically implies that Dark Samus just grew that plating on her.
Think of it more like how the first Metroid Prime fight was a giant armored monstrosity, but the essense itself is some phazon-infused squid-looking mother fucker

Attached: Metroid_Prime.jpg (1920x868, 713K)

True I suppose.
I guess I just prefer the mood Dark Samus gives out anyways.
Don't get me wrong SA-X is a fine antagonist but like you said, it's just an Amoeba magnified by 1000 - it doesn't really seem to show a whole lot of strategic intelligence, more so instinctual intelligence (IE trying to kill Samus on the ship, sacrificing the X colony aboard to protect the X species on SR388)

i think its final form in 2 was to show how unstable it had become. like it was still an animal

in 3 it got significantly smarter, and was actually a proper "villain" and not just some borderline feral monster anymore

best way to visually show that is have it form a proper, more intricate looking "shell" (that one could argue slightly resembles samuses light suit)

Is the manga worth reading? How long is it?

Hey, if they made a Captain Falcon beat ‘em up I’d buy that shit in a heartbeat.

I maintain that Hunters was one of the most underrated multiplayer games of the 2000s.

Could be fun

This
Prime 2 Dark Samus, while intelligent, was more along the lines of a predatory animal if anything: Her main goal was simply to consume Phazon and killed anything that got in her way, even Ing and Space Pirates.
By Prime 3 she has seemingly gained a higher sense of intelligence - switching more from hunting and absorbing phazon to propagating it across the galaxy, going so far as to form a cult out of the Space Pirates to get the job done.
The Radioactive Mutt isn't any normal ayy to fuck with. In all essence you could compare it to how Ridley's portrayed in the Manga even

Attached: Metroid_Prime_2_Echoes_Dark_Samus.jpg (853x448, 86K)

Is irrelevant, if without the Zero suit in Smash, we would just get the same amount of depictions of Samus in either her top and short from Fusion, her black underwear in Super or her Swimsuit/Bikini in the originial, all of them both in and outside the games. If fanservice is a problem, which it barely is to be honest, then the Zero Suit is the lesser of evils.

Agreed

REMINDER
youtube.com/watch?v=05pNtAVUF5E

Hopefully Prime 4 gives us something like that
Give us some bounty hunters/certain enemies to play as while we shoot the shit out of one another with their certain weaponry.
Shit, I'd kill to see some sort of bounty hunter multiplayer mode come into play, playing as Sylux or Samus, or even some sort of fucking Fed or Space Pirate or even Dark Samus as sort of playable characters.

It's not the zero suit itself that's the problem. It could easily be interchanged by any of her suits. The problem is the focus on sex appeal. Most Smash bros fans HATE Metroid, and they only like the titties and ass fanservice. That's why they hate the first Metroid Prime so much, it doesn't give them that T&A fix. The massive focus on Samus being a sexy and emotional woman who needs to think about the baby constantly, that's what's ruining the series.

I wish there was a side comic or even ingame logs about how Ridley take this. I mean, as far as we know, he was aware that Mother Brain was being rebuild somewhere alongside Kraid.

But still, when this crazy mass of Living space cancer in the shape of his arch nemesis shows up someday, and offered him power and the chance of kill more feds and maybe even Samus, he jump right into that train!

What a good day to be a Metroid fan. I remember watching E3 alone in my room since my brother doesn't care about Nintendo shit OUTSIDE of Metroid (he wasn't watching because he expected no Metroid) and I told him Prime 4 got announced afterwards. And then SR got revealed immediately afterwards. Absolutely insane

Hope we get another Chozo robot boss in Metroid 5.

I thought he was a lot of fun tbqh, Samus Returns as a whole gets a lot of hate

who knows, the fact that all it took was one affected space pirate vessel to turn the space pirate homeworld into a phazon-worshipping cult gives some context as to how insanely influential the space cancer is.
Not to mention Phazon had been proven countless times over by the space pirates that it gives them good shit, even when mutated and suffering from severe brain tissue degregation
It's why I personally love Phazon as a concept, with the X being my second favorite

that one bullshit segment where you have to arbitrarily shoot out a space in the ceiling to progress

Reminds me of that cover for the old Space Vampire CYOA book.

Was a wonderful time to be a Metroid fan.

It was amazing being a fan and getting not one, but TWO, fucking Metroid games announced in ONE DAY after the series was effectively DEAD

I thought it was dumb and would have gladly preferred some sort of fauna, or even a Torizo.

I loved how you had to use almost all your abilities to bring him down. Its something I feel more bosses should have

why would they even change it? the wii version just seems like they removed the unique animation for a default one

>cancelled

>Romhack being developed remaking Fusion in the Super engine.
Cool

>Most Smash bros fans HATE Metroid
Nonesense, with Smash, you either are indeferent to the franchises you don't know, you hate FE or you hate every franchise that stands between you and your most wanted. And even more likely, you can be like me who has no idea what a Metroid was in the time of the 64, and run to buy Fusion as soon as I could to get to know who was the cool looking Cyborg... BTW, back then I was a 12 years old who didn't read english, so I spend a good chunk of the game without knowing Samus was a girl somehow.

Zero Mission and Fusion happen long before Brawl, and the side of the fandom who wanted sexy Samus is what you would expect of any Fandom, just like Mario and sexy princess, Zelda with sexy Link and Zelda, FF and sexy everything, Halo, Sonic (the horrors of the Sonic fandom) and so on... Hollow Knight just prove you can make a bug sexy if you really want to.

If the Smash fans really hated Metroid, they would just ignore it, they already have very much all the nintendo licenses to lash on. They have none influence in the series.

Super Metroid was the pinnacle of Metroid and all they had to do was improve upon that, but they didn't. Too bad Yokoi died.

Cope.

Is already bad they decide to ignore the canon, but somehow, they came up with the worst male protagonist design I have ever seen! This guy is the definition of red shirt!

They've also changed their marketing policies assloads of times since then.

because I get offended at getting called a prime babby

Yokoi was just a GM, Super Metroid was Kano's and Sakamoto's project.

Yokoi hated Super Metroid to begin with, and thought it was a waste of resources, he even treat Sakamoto to cancel the whole game if he wasn't able to get it ready soon!

Don't you consider that a scummy move? They advertised a game coming out that they didn't even have gameplay footage for. Literally 2 years of "dude trust us it's coming". I'll bet you that they don't even have a Prime 4 in production yet. They don't even have a groundwork yet. Right now it's a safe assumption that they're still making concept art and throwing around story ideas. I was always under the assumptrion that Nintendo was above that sort of thing. But then again i assumed that they would put performance and gameplay above pretty graphics, but then Xenoblade and Zelda came out and could barely run at 20 FPS. So I don't feel surprised anymore.

You cope with your dead series.

Look at one game they've been involved with and tell me if there are literally no flaws in it whatsoever.
I was more worried about Bamco being the retards they were and fucking it up and it turned out to be true when they switched development from Bamco to the chad Retro.

I have a hard time believing that user. Metroid is a unique case because, every time I ever went into a smash bros thread, the fandom spewed vitriol and hatred towards me whenever I talke about my favorite metroid mains. In particular, I only preferred using power suit Samus. I got called a "seething snoy faggot" because apparently only Zero Suit is allowed to be discussed. I ask them why, because it's barely even relevant in the games, and got only shitposting in response. So it's kind of hard to see any rationality and logic in Smash.

>They have none influence in the series.
Except Metroid: Other M would beg to differ, aka the Metroid game that smash fans universally love.

Literally the only reason they revealed Prime 4 when they did is because they knew that the metroid fanbase would sperg out if Samus Returns was the only metroid game announced
>What is this 3DS shit? No Switch game reeeee
>3D metroid is dead
>AM2R died for this

etc etc

3d Metroid and Zelda are the kinds of giant games they reveal long in advance though. 2d Zeldas are revealed much closer to release.

It's not that Fed Force is bad; it's that its existence is offensive. It's not even a Metroid game, and getting that as the only game after Other M of all games was a slap in the face

It was though.

Metroid 5 could be early 2020.

Samus returns had really cool designs

Attached: GokuGameFace.jpg (300x168, 10K)

>Captain N had some of the most awful character interpretations of the time, and even THEY knew Samus was a girl.

How do you fuck up worse than Captain N?

Attached: alucard.jpg (1200x628, 65K)

I would rather they NOT announce it and be quiet about it. I would actually be happier if all we got was the announcement for Samus Returns. At least that came out and had gameplay footage shown. It's aggravating when these same people defending Nintendo would show nothing but anger when another company would do this, showing trailers for a game that doesn't even have gameplay footage. How can you defend this?

Pretty easy, actually.

Attached: s_l1600.jpg (1182x1358, 308K)

They actually confess they just announce it's production to spare Samus Returns any critics for being a 3DS game. Besides, as frustrated as I am, is hard to be really mad when you stop to see recent releases like Athem and Fallout 76.

For me, they can release Prime 4 on Switch 2 as long as it is finish as it is good, I am happy knowing the franchise is not dead.

Hope they stay in Metroid 5.

Then i refer you to this

>>tfw Nintendo canceled Prime 4 despite using the hype to sell Switches

Anyone who would fall for such a scheme deserves it, I'm a Pokefag but I'm not buying a switch until SS is almost out.

Is Ridley-X a clone of the original Ridley or a clone of the Ridley clone from other M?

Attached: 1510951843116.jpg (4162x3429, 1012K)

Suit: Varia/Gravity suit
Game: Fusion, albeit mainly because of nostalgia.
Soundtrack: Fusion or Super

Not that user, but I don't consider it scummy and I'll tell you why:
>their previous production structure was handled at multiple different sites
>upon checking production progress, corporate is unsatisfied with the current state of the game
>recognize that, they either need to allow an unsatisfying game to release, scrap the game entirely, or they will have to change their approach to making the game to put out a game as good as they want it to be
>Decide against scrapping it, which is probably the most costly decision they could make from a business perspective

They previously had a policy of not announcing games until they were around 90% complete which, long story short, led to a LOT of consumers losing faith in the Wii U because "they had nothing to look forward to."

Theyre both clones of super metroid ridley

I'm glad Nintendo cancelled a shit game though so we can get a good one instead, do you want more publishers running with garbage like Anthem?

youtube.com/watch?v=05pNtAVUF5E

It has to be the Ridley clone from Other M since Other M states that OG Ridley was reduced to atoms when Zebes blew up

Which Ridley is the one in Smash Ultimate? A new clone?

Samus Returns ridley is
Metroid Prime ridley

>Metroid 5 could be early 2020.

That would barely be two years of dev time for an HD game Nintendo wants to be polished to stall for Prime 4.

Clone from Other M.

Not gonna lie, I'd play a "Scooby and the gang go to Dracula's castle" game.

Super Metroid. Other M doesn’t exist.

Could be mid 2020.

If Metroid got an anime, which Japanese VA would be a good fit for Samus?

Federation Force's biggest offence is making finally being able to play as a federation trooper incredibly lame.

>is hard to be really mad when you stop to see recent releases like Athem and Fallout 76.
That kind of thinking is what got us pay2play online, amiibos and season passes. People rationalized it as being "better than everyone else" so they slowly got used to it. It feels like a slippery slope, and we're all falling for it. People even happily accepted Samus Returns having a difficulty mode be amiibo exclusive.

>then I refer you to this
Fair points, but do you think they didn't deserve that criticism? Nearly 7 years of inactivity, followed up by AM2R being so hastily attacked and federation force being shoved down our throats. Wasn't the smartest of moves on their part. And yes, I get the whole deal about copyright and how AM2r was technically in the wrong, but their handling of it was so messy, and I bet they didn't care because they're super rich anyway. Their apathy is what really killed it.

The one that appears as a stage hazard in smash is undoubtedly other m. The player version is up for debate

>OG ridley was reduced to atoms
where does it ever state this

At which point they'd reveal it in fall this year or early next year, not E3.

>They previously had a policy of not announcing games until they were around 90% complete which, long story short, led to a LOT of consumers losing faith in the Wii U because "they had nothing to look forward to."
So the alternative is to announce games that aren't even in beta yet, then cancel them at their leisure? How is that not worse?

Also, I love how this mindset wasn't applied to Federation Force, which was a POS even if you took out the Metroid brand.

I'm pretty sure they said that the Ridley that was on Zebes was blown to smithereens when the planet blew up and they rebuilt him from his DNA that was left on her suit

I think Fed Force was fun and great. If it came a year later nobody would have bitched it out, except probably console warriors but you always have those faggots.

>People even happily accepted Samus Returns having a difficulty mode be amiibo exclusive.

What? People were furious about that.

Attached: Chozo Ruins.jpg (1920x1184, 449K)

Since when has the Federation not been lame?

Oh man, I really want to see it, they could tease it and I'll be happy.

Post songs from other games that are atmospheric enough to fit in Metroid
youtube.com/watch?v=jyWEtoVZ_O4

Federation Force's biggest offense is making the Space Pirates even more retarded than Yea Forums's comic interpretations of them.
>We've finally captured our archnemesis! What should we do with her?
>Brainwash her, lock her in Morph Ball, and hit her with a giganto-ray!
>Shouldn't we kill her and finally get a good analysis on her bird magic suit?
>shut the fuck up

Attached: 1505707173720.png (452x500, 65K)

They didn't cancel it at their leisure though. Announcing it at the start of development then announcing a restart years later is new for Nintendo and the presenter was visiably shitting his pants in fear of outrage. Also what are you talking about with FF? They didn't restart development or anything, people were pissed because it was a crap looking spin-off coming 5 years after Other M and 8 years after the last decent Metroid game.

They were alright in Prime 2 and 3

>hey guys wouldn't it be awesome if they made a spin off where you played as the federati-

Attached: 1497562630016.png (500x1600, 55K)

They were cool in 3, in 2 they only existed to establish the Ing as threatning.

Since Prime 2

youtube.com/watch?v=cDbh3lLi1ZY

How was it fun in any way? It was everything wrong with 3DS games, being shovelware with no good gameplay whatsoever. Worse yet, it was multiplayer shit. And I will never consider a Metroid game good if it's multiplayer focused. Look at that dump heap Prime Hunters. The singleplayer was absolutely gutted because they needed everyone to make the Call of Duty multiplayer trash.

>Announcing it at the start of development
See, this is what I have a problem with. Them canceling a bad game is par for the course. I expect that, and I understand it. It's them knowingly announcing a game they have no footage of whatsoever that pissed me of. It's underhanded.

i hope its non canon, it sucks that samus got owned like this

It wasn't even necessary to have her in the story yet alone getting rekt and having to be saved by four retards in giant robots

Not really, we didn't accept any of those practice like the Ammibo blocked content, and again, what they come forward and announce the game that they were working on, wasn't working, but that they knew it was highly anticipate and instead of cancel it, they were going to restart the development.

Again, when we have broken or unfinished games being release in on hand, or games quickly dissapearing without explanation, as frustrating as it is, I am still happy with this result. I don't want for them to release a bad game just because they announce it, but I don't want to be keep in the dark without information.

>AM2R over SR
Fucking faggot

>Call of Duty multiplayer trash
why do you talk about games you've never played before?

That's already been answered, they did it because they were scared SR would get FF tier backlash. You're free to complain about it all you want, I do myself but they had a reason for it.

Like Other M, Nintendo will call it canon but never make any references to it in future games.

music from this game triggers my ptsd for boredom

>Other M

>smash ultimate

is reading comprehension hard for you? Also Brawl can't be Other M because it looks absolutely nothing like him.

>So the alternative is to announce games that aren't even in beta yet, then cancel them at their leisure? How is that not worse?
>alternative is to announce games that aren't even in beta yet, then cancel them at their leisure?
>then cancel them at their leisure?
>cancel
Do you not know what an actual cancellation is? You're talking like MP4 is a 2nd Mega Man Legends 3. Protip: it isn't. One of these games is still being fucking made and it's the one that I don't want nearly as much but I still really want.
Also, Fed Force was a different game before the Metroid license got slapped onto it, which happens all the fucking time in the vidya industry. For some high profile examples see Silent Hill 4 and Star Fox Adventures.

Having MP4's production philosophy suddenly changed and the end result delayed is a far cry from a cancellation (Mega Man Legends 3) or the game being relegated to vaporware (Duke Nukem Forever, pre-gearbox) so don't conflate the terms or you'll sound like a tool, a retard, or in this case both. Announcing a project early in its life isn't necessarily a bad thing so long as the news is delivered with a disclaimer that the project may change in the future, and I personally like the mixup of "short term releases to look out for that are nearly done" and "here's our long term goals to keep track of so you know that we haven't forgotten that you want this stuff too."

>Like Other M, Nintendo will call it canon but never make any references to it in future games.
Like Microsoft/343 does with Halo: Reach.

stay mad loser

They rolled back the changes from Other M hard in SR so that's something at least.

Sorry but Nintendo has it in the last official timeline, Jap pride means they won't ever officially call it shit, at best it will be like DMC2 in DMC5's summary video where they just glance over it at fast as possible.

Fusion, but Other M was nothing but a reference to Fusion, so we are in a time loop of sorts until Metroid 5 is make.

>I don't want for them to release a bad game just because they announce it, but I don't want to be keep in the dark without information.
that's operating under the assumption that the game will be ultimately good, and while I'd love that, this little communications folly just shows me that the higher-ups at Nintendo aren't quite sound in the mind. They're too busy making billions of dollars with Mario and Pokemon to consider their more niche franchises. I doubt they even know what makes a good Metroid anymore. Why do you think Samus Returns had to be outsourced to a third party company, why surprisingly nailed Metroid pretty well?

Of course I know Retro is a third party as well (technically) but their last game was Prime 3, which was more of a walk and talk Metroid with occasional fun moments. So I don't quite know if they're up to the task.

See I loved hunters even more and regularly played both with friends. Neither of the games play like Call of Duty. The cooperative nature of Fed meant, especially on hard, the team needed to work together to finish goals. There was decent customization both in loadouts and cosmetics, lots of replay value in medals and an even a seperate gimmick mode for variety. Yes it's pretty removed for typical Metriod experience but what it set out to do as a SPIN-OFF it succeeds pretty damn well at. Again I don't think you'd give a flying fuck if Fed force was announced or released around the same time as MP4 and SR.

God damn how the fuck did I miss this thread? Anyway I feel the second phase Metroid Prime final boss music is criminally underrated. Then again I'm a sucker for the "boss music is just the main theme song" trope

>That's already been answered, they did it because they were scared SR would get FF tier backlash.
That's kind of their own fault. Nintendo expected people to mindlessly buy up any poorly made game they put out, so it's on them to make higher quality games. It's like me getting mad at someone for hitting me, even though I hit them first.

But I guess it IS a reason. A dumb one, but a reason nonetheless.

He means no game that was both made and takes place after Other M. As well discussed, Fusion is one of the bigger canon fuck ups for Other M since Samus was still shocked in Fusion about the Feds despite them pulling the same shit in Other M.

What if metroid was a dude

Attached: canceled-metroid-cartoon-1170x634[1].jpg (1170x634, 150K)

fusion was also made several years before other m you idiot

>Why do you think Samus Returns had to be outsourced to a third party company, why surprisingly nailed Metroid pretty well?

To be fair, Sakamoto was the producer and it was after he got smacked back into line.

I'm at the end of Area 5 in Samus Returns, and it appears I'm being prevented from progressing because I need the power bomb? There's also a super missile block that I can't seem to hit due to the oblique angle. Someone just tell me if I need the power bomb to leave.

It's weird. I've always considered myself a pretty big Nintendo fan, but this image makes me realize that I'm really only into Zelda, Mario, and Metroid. Not familiar at all with the other IPs on here.

>Do you not know what an actual cancellation is?
It's not like they asked Bamco to remake the game. They literally took the IP from them and gave it to Retro. even if it's not officially a cancelation, it was the end of Bamco's Metroid Prime. You get what I'm saying?

>Announcing a project early in its life isn't necessarily a bad thing
Early in its life? They didn't even have a screenshot of the gameplay. I'd say "early" is an understatement.

In all honestly, they can ignore it without much problems, if Ridely comes back as clone again, we can accept it as it is, we Already knew Adam was dead and we don't need details, and the corrupt feds plot started in Fusion, so even if it continues, you don't need Other M to get it. Other M may remain hidden in the canon, but never acknowledge again.

I am speaking as someone who doens't mind Other M that much, but I am perfectly aware it doesn't actually affect the overall plot. So unless they decide to bring back MB, there isn't any reason to bring the events of Other M back in metroid 5.

PLAY PIKMIN NIGGER

what did they roll back in SR? haven't played it

The sentence was, no game has taken place after, no games being made after!

>retro is a third party

You fucking wat m8?

>Why do you think Samus Returns had to be outsourced to a third party company, why surprisingly nailed Metroid pretty well?
Because Sakamoto's EPD7 team isn't big enough to work on a 2D Metroid game alone so they "collaborated" with MercurySteam to make the game just like how they "collaborated" with Team Ninja on Other M.

>Samus is a mute
>Tall with muscles
>Doesn't even flinch when Ridley shows up. Just starts shooting.
>Takes no orders on the job and has to find her equipment.

I didn't see Pikmin on there, but I do now that you mentioned it. I've enjoyed them all, 2 in particular. Are we still getting a Pikmin 4?

what game is this? looks interesting and the music sounds kickass

That's the fatal flaw of Metroid spinoffs. They have to be good ON THEIR OWN. Maybe that's not a rule in stone, but it's one I adhere to. If Prime Hunters had a solid singleplayer, I could excuse it. If Fed Force was good on its own, I could excuse it. However, I hated both for being slogs with no thought put into the SP whatsoever. And's a capital offense for a series known for isolation. Now, you want a good spinoff, I'd unironically recommend Metroid Prime Pinball. It's a spinoff that's good on its own, and would be good even if you took out Metroid. I don't need a mandatory online connection and leaderboards to enjoy it. The game is an actual game, and not a game as a service.

>Picking the inferior remake just because it's officially sanctioned by papa Nintendo

You disgust me

Ghost Song. Not finished yet.

Source?

They're not japanese, that's for sure. Should I use the term "third party" with quotes around it, like Monolith Soft or Game Freak?

Not much to be honest, you could say the emphasis in the plot, but it is a remake of Metroid 2 to begin with, and honestly it has more plot than the original. Metroid 2 was also among the more linear games in original series, so that's still there, though Samus Returns got exapanded with more secrets, so thats something. Melee combat is kind of back too, and they even gave the Baby a bigger tole, so if anything, they take anything that worked in Other M and trow out the more divising thing... which means Samus doens't talk anymore.

But again, Samus Returns is a remake, so is hard to judge what they actually learn, we need to se an actual new entry in the main series to be sure.

>It's not like they asked Bamco to remake the game. They literally took the IP from them and gave it to Retro. even if it's not officially a cancelation, it was the end of Bamco's Metroid Prime. You get what I'm saying?
That still isn't a cancellation. I'd rather have a game still coming out at all over not getting one. If Bamco wasn't up to the task of developing the game (and judging from reports that I've seen, they were pretty much shoving development off to C teams) then I'm fine with Nintendo taking it to Retro, who is effectively a 2nd party by this point anyways.

>Early in its life? They didn't even have a screenshot of the gameplay. I'd say "early" is an understatement.
That is LITERALLY early development you fucking idea man. Do you have any clue how the industry works?

Doesn't matter if they are japanese or not, they're a first party, internal studio. Monolith soft is also first party, ever since nintendo bought it way back when.

Game Freak is actually third party. They've released games not on Nintendo systems.

I like both Metroid II remakes but damn I wish I didn't prefer AM2R over SR so strongly. I really do. AM2R's movement just feels smooth as butter, combine that with the art direction and music and it's joy to replay
By the looks of the concept art, SR seemed to have the makings of great art design as well, but it was severely limited by the system it was on. Wish it was made for the Switch in mind

>Samus is a mute
Nobody to talk to
>Tall with muscles
Okay I'll give you that
>Doesn't even flinch when Ridley shows up. Just starts shooting.
Takes place before Zebes blew up; not conclusive proof.
>Takes no orders on the job and has to find her equipment.
Depends if prime games are canon or not.

It's called ghost Song, it's a Metroid wannabe game that, for a change, is not rougelike pixelshit, however it's been in development for more than 4 years and it doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon.

4 year old trailer:
youtube.com/watch?v=eujm3ZQWjdk

They are a second party, like HAL.

>who is effectively a 2nd party by this point anyways.

NINTENDO OWNS RETRO, THEY ARE FIRST PARTY. Next Level Games and Mercury Steam are second party.

That doesn't amount to much when you realize this is a remake... as stupid as the whole Ridley thing was in other M, the excuse was that he was officially dead, Samus doesn't had anyone in charge of her in the original Metroid 2, and her design is a roller coster in all games. If anything, Samus returns even expanded the plot, so is hard to say if they really roll back of anything besides Samus being mute again.

Step one, press the power off button
Step 2, play AM2R

>Depends if prime games are canon or not.
They are, Sakamoto has repeated they were canon like over 50 times now, stop making up headcanon.

Disregard this, for some reason I thought they were 2nd party. My mistake.

It was an interview with Sakomoto about the early days of the franchise, why there wasn't a Metroid 64 and so on... the interview was in a Spanish site (Vandal), but I can track the source, it will take me a while though.

Then her taking orders is not a rollback. In Prime 2 she listened to some weird alien fuck that was against the Ing, and in MP3 she took orders from the giant talking head.

>then I'm fine with Nintendo taking it to Retro, who is effectively a 2nd party by this point anyways.
I'm fine with it too. I just wish they would've handled it better. Deal with the possible backlash of SR being the only game coming out. Don't lie to me and say you have a Metroid in development when you did nothing but hastily slap together a logo. I'll take backlash over deceit anyday.

>That is LITERALLY early development you fucking idea man.
That would imply that there was something to show. I don't think they even began development. That trailer was literally the only thing they had to show. I'd consider it early development if they even had one bit of concept art drawn up.But they didn't even have that.

Okay then. They're first party. I still have my worries over development since I've disliked their games in recent years.

Wait Ghost Song still isn't fucking done?

>Remember the boss absolutely kicking my shit in the first time I played, took me multiple tries to beat it
>After finishing up SR I don't touch it for a year or so

I like to think Smash Ultimate Ridley is the original intelligent one before he got kablooied along with the rest of Zebes.

Attached: ridley_by_yare_yare_dong_dcusful-pre.png (693x1152, 670K)

you're not a big nintendo fan chief

Can you blame people for being confused on this? the writing in Other M conflicted with every single other Metroid game.

Nope, I thought the development would pick up the pace when adultswim games stepped in as a publisher but it doesn't seem to be the case.

in other m's defence, she does think ridley is dead so it'd make sense why she has the mental breakdown in that game and no others

That's true

The only game Retro has made since Prime 3 was Tropical Freeze (and the mystery game we still don't know about) which was fantastic

hi guys I haven't read the thread I just love popping into metroid threads to show everyone that the initial release of metroid prime had far cooler chozo lore entries than later revisions/the eu/prime trilogy release

the main thing is that they actually refer specifically to samus as "the hatchling" rather than to a generic "shining one"

I hate that they changed it

>fantastic
To you maybe. I just found it to be another platformer, nothing special.

This, idk if it's nostalgia or what but the Trilogy version of the Chozo lore isn't as emotionally impactful as the versions present in the initial US release.

They had too because of the plotholes with Metroid Prime having weapons.

>I'm fine with it too. I just wish they would've handled it better. Deal with the possible backlash of SR being the only game coming out. Don't lie to me and say you have a Metroid in development when you did nothing but hastily slap together a logo. I'll take backlash over deceit anyday.
You're entitled to your opinion, even if it's wrong since there was nothing deceitful about it. I'd rather have knowledge of future plans, even with the possibility of them changing, because that can lend itself to holding a company to its word and gives people a point that they can press said company on, even if that result is "we can't tell you." If they presented the trailer and then said "SORRY LOL BUT THE GAME GOT CANCELLED I HOPE Y'ALL ARE COOL WITH THAT BYE" then that would be deceitful, but talking about bumps in the road of game development is more transparent than Nintendo has been in the past. As having participated in MML3's DevRoom, I can appreciate transparency where it's offered even when it leads to disappointment.

>That would imply that there was something to show.
Learn what "early development" means.

FUCK I missed half of a Comfy Metroid Thread

Fan fucking tastic, the source seems to be an interview with games radar on 2010, but even though I find many mentions to the interview online, all are in regards the N64 bit, and none have the whole interview. So, here is my actual source: vandal.elespanol.com/noticia/1350720323/por-que-no-hubo-un-metroid-en-nintendo-64/

And here a translation as to what Sakamoto has to say about the development of Super Metroid:

"However, other executives of Nintendo valued that the effort was not worth it given the low sales of the first two installments of Metroid, so it was cut much of the budget of the game itself. In fact, Gunpei Yokoi himself threatened on three separate occasions to cancel it. Sakamoto himself recognized that Yokoi hated the game:

"Yokoi was always angry when he saw us completely absorbed and working for hours in Super Metroid, and Yokoi got mad every day during that period ..."

The plothole was in Pirate Logs
There was no reason to change the Chozo Lore, but they did so anyway.

This thread isn't too comfy tbqh, you have missed little.

As far as I know, the only not intelligent Ridley (As far as we know) Is Neo Ridley, and that's open to debate, just because we don't know for sure if it is still Ridley, or just the X.

It's not that bad.
Remember when the Hollowfrens were posting?
Good stuff

>You're entitled to your opinion, even if it's wrong since there was nothing deceitful about it.
I consider it deceitful to advertise a game when you don't even have a single bit of code or screenshots or anything to show for it. And for this Prime 4 better be the best game ever made, since they want us to wait almost another decade for it. I really don't want it to be another amiibo ridden pay2win season pass grindfest, like their recent gacha trash.

Glad Sakamoto saved the series and is keeping it alive.

Is a mix of many Ridleys, but I would say it's default is mostly as mix of Super, Zero Mission and Other M, with his Metal alt being the nod to the Prime games.

>"However, other executives of Nintendo valued that the effort was not worth it given the low sales of the first two installments of Metroid, so it was cut much of the budget of the game itself. >

Wow what a fucking homo. Metroids don't NEED to be big budget extravaganzas. All anybody wants is Samus on an unknown planet figuring out mysteries and destroying threats to the galaxy. But nooo you gotta do your stupid Nintendo thing if trying NEVER to repeat yourself when people only want ONE THING from fucking Metroid. Goddamn.

Well thats objectively wrong but ok

I mean, we are talking about Super Metroid's development, the third game in the franchise following a experimental NES game, and your standard weird Nintendo sequel, in the gameboy no less, just like most Nintendo games at the time, the franchise was barely stablished, so it's hard to say what did the fans actually wanted at the time.

Yikes.

>And for this Prime 4 better be the best game ever made, since they want us to wait almost another decade for it.
Are you unable to hold reasonable expectations for a video game? Whether or not they announced it early or late has no bearing on its development time. You're going to burn yourself out like this.

I really don't want it to be another amiibo ridden pay2win season pass grindfest, like their recent gacha trash.
I'm not sure what game you're talking about here but Retro hasn't had amiibo or p2w bullshit in any of their games thus far.

I'd probably consider it better if the fanbase didn't violently attack people for differing viewpoints. Cripes, I'm not even calling it bad or mediocre. I just didn't think it was this amazing 10/10 masterpiece, and the hostility of the fandom only cements that.

Attached: 1506549563347.png (786x656, 351K)

It's literally the best 2D platformer ever made, pleb. As good as the Prime games were, Tropical Freeze is Retro's magnum opus.

>Are you unable to hold reasonable expectations for a video game?
user, this isn't an indie company that has to cut corners so they can have food in the morning. This is a company that makes more money than most small countries and has guaranteed revenue inbetween mario/pokemon/smash brothers. How is it unreasonable to hold them to a high standard, especially when they're heavily delaying the game for a decade? Look at AM2R, a game made by one guy in his basement over a decade, and that turned out good. I'd expect industry veterans with endless income to produce something just as good.

>I'm not sure what game you're talking about here but Retro hasn't had amiibo or p2w bullshit in any of their games thus far.
I refer to the amiibos in Samus Returns. I shouldn't have to pay 60 bucks for a product, only to be told "oh sorry that's exclusive, pay extra goyim!"

>non-canon fangame boss

>It's literally the best 2D platformer ever made, pleb
And I'm certain you have a source for that? some objective measure of quality that isn't just a biased opinion?

Your previous post implies you're expecting a titanic super game that's had a decade of fine tuning which isn't happening, you have to judge it as a game undergoing a standard development cycle. Give me something as good as Prime 1 and I'm happy.

>Your previous post implies you're expecting a titanic super game that's had a decade of fine tuning which isn't happening, you have to judge it as a game undergoing a standard development cycle
Why though? Why am I expected to lower my standards for no reason? Especially since we have obnoxious DK fans spewing their fanboyism ITT, talking about how Tropical Freeze is the greatest game ever made, and how Zelda fans go on about how BOTW is the greatest game ever made, but I'm not allowed to expect a quality product out of Metroid? I'm supposed to be happy with a sub-standard POS?

That sickens me.

why does this vid start in the distribution center anyway

nope i try to avoid these threads most of the time because of how uncomfy they are

Boss doesn't look like it belongs in Metroid.

they mostly fall into uncomfy territory due to ACfag shitposting and little to no OC actually being made.
They can be comfy though, like a good Hollow Knight and Rainworld thread

Attached: metroid knight.png (726x754, 138K)

I miss Slyux OC from when people thought he was a Smash shoe in.

You're correct about the company making loads of cash, but your wrong that their income is infinite: they have to pay their employees and appease shareholders, and that involves putting out product faster than Squenix's notorious dev cycle. Holding them to a high standard is fine, but the game isn't being delayed for a decade either and acting like that's the case only cements you as someone who has an axe to grind (in this case, towards game announcement practices) instead of being interested in holding a conversation.

>Samus Returns amiibo
>p2w
I understand being annoyed by amiibo, but stop conflating your arguments for the sake of pissing yourself off. Withholding features of a game IS shitty practice, don't get me wrong, but neither of those things locked by amiibo (artwork and a shitty hard mode) are hardly on the level of p2w bullshit. Come the fuck on.

Tropical Freeze isn't a huge game, and Zelda has international acclaim (and a drastically inflated budget to go with its flagship status). Metroid has only taken off in the US and Japan hardly gives a shit about it in general. They each do their things well, but TF (the only Retro title in your list) isn't a huge budget title. I don't think having high expectations is a bad thing, but your expectations don't match the reality of the situation. I think you need to take a step back to breathe.

Attached: 1498439704599.jpg (1802x1402, 334K)

I miss Sylux and Dark Samus OC in general, it was good shit.
I wouldn't mind more of it, it'd be better than seeing more shitflinging

Attached: 1536285171050.png (1100x750, 277K)

I always knew he was never going to be in the fighter pass, and yet went to every single one of those threads, they were confy as fuck! And OC Sylux was great, and even make me care for Adelaine somehow! Heck, I even remember we used those threads to have actual Metroid Threads going while AC shitposted on the "real" ones!

I sure hope we can bring them back the day Prime 4 comes back!

>I sure hope we can bring them back the day Prime 4 comes back!

I'm sure we will, we got a few TUUUBBBBEEEESSSS comics out or SR, a new Prime will give us plenty more.

Attached: Look at him go.png (855x965, 874K)

Fusion OST is damn underrated.

>but your wrong that their income is infinite:
Pokemon alone makes more money than all of Star Wars, previously considered to be one of the highest grossing franchises of all time. Even if Nintendo made nothing else, Pokemon would ensure their permanent financial stability. So in effect, their money IS infinite. They could buy up all their shares from shareholders and become a private company like Valve if they wanted to, just from how much cash they bring in. I feel that I have a right to have an "axe to grind" with a company that cuts corners constantly with Metroid, when they have enough money to not need to do such a thing.

>neither of those things locked by amiibo (artwork and a shitty hard mode) are hardly on the level of p2w bullshit
It's the same mindset, locking GAMEPLAY content behind paywalls. Even if it's not the same as a multiplayer game where you can pay to win, the idea is that you have to pay more to get the rest of the game, when you shouldn't hav to.

>but your expectations don't match the reality of the situation. I think you need to take a step back to breathe.
Look, all I'm saying is this: if the fans want to proclaim Zelda and donkey Kong as perfection without equal, then at the least I have the same right to demand Metroid be a high quality 10/10 masterpiece. I would do that even if these fans didn't exist. It's not my job to make exceptions and accomodations because of the poor corporation who doesn't want to put in the time and money.

As an example, I used to give sony alot of slack when they first unveiled the Ps3. They treated me like trash and didn't give me any damn games. I just got one movie after another. Was I ever rewarded for sticking with my Ps3? NOPE. I don't intend on making that same mistake with the Switch or Nintendo. I shouldn't have to.

I'm excited for future 2D Metroid backgrounds.

I for one am very excited. Hornet looks like a very unique playstyle with her zipping around. She feels like a grappling hook kind of bug, where Hollow Knight was more about wall kicks.

And I sure do love my grappling hooks.

Are you the genuine ACfag? Just be honest if you are, man. Your posts are extremely dramatic. You're weaving in statements with no factual background like they're obvious truths and then trying to tear them apart like you're some valiant, passionate defender of the series who knows exactly what is best for it better than Nintendo ever could. And that is some true ACfag behavior.

What's your favorite moment you've experienced in a Metroid game? What was the weather like and also your mood?

Attached: __samus_aran_metroid_drawn_by_komi_shou__d8212cd0eb0a5f31f6a996a97f0b48d6.jpg (2048x1537, 310K)

All I'm saying is that Nintendo has to actually make games to make money. If they don't ACTUALLY MAKE a pokemon game then nobody can buy it, and because of that their dev cycle is shorter than you imply it to be with comments like "having to wait 10 years for Metroid Prime 4." I don't know how you feel slighted by "cutting corners" in Metroid games other than the cut portions and concepts of MP2:E and MAYBE Fed Force (which was more of a misstep than anything). Also, nobody knows whether or not the next DK or Zelda game will be great. Both series have had flops at launch. Wanting MP4 to be a great game is fine and all, but you acting pissy about an early announcement + a delay makes you look more like a pissed off, self-entitled fanboy than someone genuinely looking forward to the game. And no, I'm not defending Nintendo for past shitty amiibo practices, but the ones in Samus Returns are hardly as grievous as you make them out to be and painting with such a broad brush for your argument is also disingenuous. We don't know how long MP4's dev cycle will be, but when we find out you should temper your expectations accordingly.

Shit I hope I haven't been arguing with ACfag. If I have then this has all been a waste of time inb4 wheredoyouthinkweare.jpg.

Im glad Samus Return has made people finally start drawing the suit with the shoulder fins again

where do you think we are?

Attached: 1550902580416.jpg (1200x1200, 121K)

When I was 8 years old or so, my cousin lent me his copy of Super Metroid. I've never been so engrossed by a video game since. Right from the intro I was hooked. But when I dropped down the red shaft and the red soil music hit, I was just mesmerized. Put down the controller and just listened for like ten minutes. Still remember that vividly, like it was yesterday.

Attached: 1403517925966.jpg (1214x558, 301K)

Answer me this: do we or do we not have DK fans calling Tropical Freeze "the greatest game to ever exist"? And is it wrong to simply say "okay, I just didn't like it that much"? You act like I'm calling it shit or something.

I know I should "temper my expectations accordingly" but how much longer should I have to wait? is it wrong for me to have lost my patience with Nintendo these past years?

My parents didn't allow me and my brothers and sisters to celebrate Halloween, so we always were treated in someway when october 31st came around, I think it was like 2004 or something , but me and my brother were taken to toys R us and we looked at Bionicles and ended up getting some SD Gundams, my other brother was with his friend at gamestop next door they picked up Metroid prime, they showed it too us, and it made no sense to me, I had no idea what it was. The feeling I had when playing it for the first time was really something special, Frigate Orpheon has an awesome feeling to it. One of my favorite games ever I tell you what.
October 31st usually has something related to Metroid for me, it's weird.

Attached: 1534218255299.jpg (1150x1700, 1.39M)

>I know I should "temper my expectations accordingly" but how much longer should I have to wait? is it wrong for me to have lost my patience with Nintendo these past years?
You seem to be under the illusion that you're in any positions to make a demand of a corporate entity. If you don't like them, then simply don't buy from them. Stop putting yourself through the ringer for shit you don't like. Judging by how you spoke about the PS3 you seem pretty stubborn about being able to let go of shit you have no control over, so do us all a favor and reevaluate what constitutes as a valuable use of your time while simultaneously dialing down how self-entitled you sound. You are under no compulsion to buy video games other than your own impetus, so quit acting like video games are being forced down your throat or we'll start calling you ACfag by the end of the thread whether or not you are actually him.

That's a pretty comfy story

Armored Core

Armoured Core. Armoured Core fanboy who shits up Metroid threads usually by claiming that everyone loves Other M.

Armored Core

Armored Core. It's been a like a decade, maybe more, and the man still terrorizes the psyche of Metroid threads.

Why is the metroid community so cursed? Why can't we just be comfy?

Hollow Knight and maybe Rainworld threads are the only exception that stay comfy and not full of ACFaggot and his constant denial of his spergtastic existence
I just wish for more Metroid-Hollow Knight art to have more wholesome Samus investigating tiny creatures and shit

Attached: 2565545956352695.jpg (473x248, 17K)

Once I realized I could have been using Spider Ball when he tries to vacuum you in, it became a little easier.

I find that hard to believe since Hollow Knight is everything He wants out of Metroid.

What exactly were your points again? That it';s okay to sperg out and attack people who don't like Donkey Kong/Zelda, but it's wrong to ask Nintendo to put in some effort for the next Metroid? My advice would be for you to take a good look at your own bias and fanboyism before you lash out at others.

would be neat

Not really
you got dialogue, you got cutscenes, and you got a story that isn't like Super Metroid.
Rainworld would be more like whatever his idea of shit wants because there is no story, it's just some rando Slugcat running through the world

Attached: slugs and bug.jpg (400x248, 12K)

Isn't it amazing how the game somehow makes you forget what tools you have at your disposal?

I'm saying it would appeal more to the sperg since it doesn't have dialogue besides the echoes
even then though I doubt the nigger would get into the game because of the fact that you gotta get good with the movement.
Slugcat is a good boy, and the threads are top comf.
ACFag isn't welcome in Hollow Knight or Rainworld regardless so keep the canadian nig out

Why do people trash on Return of Samus now? It was always the one people ignored, but it's not a bad game. All of a sudden people are giving it so much shit.
I get that it's an old GameBoy game and technical limitations make some things frustrating, but it's still a big step up from the original.
Its atmosphere is one of the most eerie in the entire series too. Shit fucking spooked me as a kid and I still get nervous exploring the environment with low health, dreading my next metroid encounter.
The remake was good and all, but it just wasn't nearly unsettling enough for my tastes. They could have took what made RoS one of the most unique Metroid titles and expanded on that, but went in a different direction. It's kind of a shame really.
