That is a problematic situation indeed, but theres away out.
Take your hand and place it to either side or your side of board so that your hand and arm cover all of your shit and then move your arm through the board to the opposite side.
If you are playing virtually then form a fist with your hand and place it behind your visual output screen without mowing the screen out of the way.
