Play them in order of release. Have fun and ignore shitposters. Each one has its pros and cons.
This, but I would say 2 definitely has more cons, especially coming from Dark Souls 1.
I love 1 and 3 though, hope you have fun OP.

1
What said is pretty true, except I would play 2 last. It's easily the longest ,bogged down by just the sheer number of bosses and areas, but those bosses and areas are the least well executed of the series. You run the risk of wearing yourself out with weaker content before you get to 3 where it picks back up (Never quite reaching the quality benchmark that 1 set, but still is a pretty solid game in its own right).
What about des and bloodborne, are you gonna miss out the best 2 games in the series?
None are on PC without shitty emulation or a dumb PSNow service that requires a PS4.
This
I disagree. 2 has just as much cons as the other games in the series. It's just that those cons are more impacting than the others.
Play online, you will improve more against player invaders as their playstyle is less predictable than the mobs' move forward and attack.
Do Not summon, it's too easy to get carried even if the other guy has bad gear(herd mentality/safety in numbers)
Just buy a used PS3 and PS4
fpbp
An amazing but rather difficult (at times) fantasy action RPG
A deeply troubled but nonetheless enjoyable fantasy action RPG
A game I still need to play
I would say the list of pros and cons is just larger overall
2 did a lot of wrong things, but it did a lot of right things too.
I hope you aren't playing DS1 Remastered
1 is a masterpiece and the only one wirth playing.
Don't bother with the gay sequels.
YIKES
edit: worth*
The core gameplay is preserved (PvE) most of the changes are aesthetic based or PvP based (Weapon Memory)
I think its slow and boring af, sorry
I only have ps3 and Ps4, no pc. I don't want to play with the bad framerate. Is the remastered really that bad?
based and redpilled
graphics got downgraded a bit but when the only other options are the original which runs like shit and a broken port that needs mods to be playable, the remaster is really the least offensive version
Stop being a hipster contrarian faggot nigger.
All of them are fun and enjoyable, anyone who says otherwise is just a shitposting trying to rile people up for (You)s

>DaS 2 is good
In this thread we list things that make Dark Souls 2 the best Souls game. I'll start:
>Non-linear 1st half of the game allows you to go straight to the areas that contain the items for your build
>Drinking Estus immobilizes you, and the heal isn't instantaneous meaning trying to drink while someone is sticking close to you will result in death
>Stamina regen is tied to weight, so a character at 10% burden will recover their bar faster than a character at 70% burden, giving a reason to make a low burden character
>Poise is relevant and armor provides notable but not OP damage reduction, giving a reason to make a high burden character
>Phantoms and Dark Spirits can't drink estus, spirits can only heal via spell usage. This makes fighting outnumbered without mob assistance possible since any damage you do sticks
>Can continue your playthrough after beating the last boss and can choose when to start NG+
>NG+ has new enemies/items/events and some remixed bosses
>Parrying has longer recovery frames and consumes more stamina, making parry fishing riskier and makes parrying require higher skill
>Power stance allows for unique combinations of dual wielding and unlocks an alternative moveset
>Being able to use the full moveset of a weapon in your off-hand including running, rolling, backstepping, etc. attacks rather than just being able to do a basic R1 swing and blocking with the weapon as it is in DS3
>Bell Tower covenant providing two unique areas to PvP for Titanite Chunks, Slabs, and Twinkling, making farming for upgrades fun
>Bonfire ascetics to replay bosses and or gain items from NG+ without going through the game again
>No bonfire and no death challenge where you can beat the game without resting at a bonfire or dying to gain a reward
>Best build variety, effectively pull off any build you want
>Best online and covenants, best QoL in the series
>Most diverse environments, replayability, customization, weapons, armors, magic/miracles/hexes/pyros
cringe 2cuck
>Is the remastered really that bad?
An overrated, mediocre, experience.
a raging boner
Honestly? I hate Dark Souls 2 because of how the combat feels beyond anything else. It feels extremely floaty and hit reactions are fucking non-existent. The fact that ADP exists doesn't help either. Every time I think of going back and playing 2 the thing that stops me isn't the level design or art choices. Its the fact that the combat looks and feels like shit. Every hit on an enemy feels unrewarding and weightless and every hit I take doesn't feel like it has any weight either you just do the retarded sneeze animation before trucking on.
This is my biggest problem with the game. None of the other shit is relevant enough to condemn it not even pre-patch amana. Its that the combat feels terrible.
I have the remastered on the Switch and can confirm that the right panels do not happen at all.
Whatever system is running that is struggling to render the final layer of textures. I'd hazard a guess that a few seconds after the screenshot was taken the texture finally loaded and looked like the left panel in both cases.
I feel you. I picked up the DLC bundle used awhile back for like 10 dollars and returned it in a day.
>I have the remastered on the Switch
The Switch version doesn't have any of the "remastered" visuals, idiot
Dark Souls 1 is great, though the second half of the game was rushed due to the development time being slashed in half. Dark Souls 2 has some promise, particularly in stuff like left hand move sets and the power stance, but the main (non-DLC) story feels like a slog. Dark Souls 3 has a more enjoyable main story but loses the good things Dark Souls 2 did.
>the second half of the game was rushed
You mean literally one area. And I like how you don't mention the massive compromises that were made to DS2 and 3 because of dev time constraints.

First of all, rude.
Second off, you're right. I didn't realize it was like that. Kinda strange to see the Switch having superior grafix to the PS4 in this case.
It wasn't just The Demon Ruins and Izalith that suffered. The Crystal Caves stink, The Tomb of the Giants is threadbare in content and alternate routes, and there's a lot of New Londo that was modeled, and players can walk to with glitches, that isn't used in the final game. The development time getting slashed hurt those areas.
Other people already mentioned this, but Dark Souls 2's lighting is terrible and renders torches unnecessary to boot except for in The Gutter. Adaptability is a lousy stat that's basically mandatory to invest in, and Soul Memory throws off the co-op and PVP, which also struggles due to no permanent orb items. Dark Souls 3 is rough around the edges, though the bulk of its "original plan" content comes from posts on Yea Forums, one of which in a popular screencap was admitted to be fake. Lance McDonald does a good job of covering the stuff like "create your own bonfire" that didn't make it into the game, if you want a list of something more comprehensive.
It literally doesn't matter.
>OH NOES SOME RANDOM TEXTURE FROM SOME SHITTY LOOKING SET IS SLIGHTLY OFF OH NOES
fuck off
Play the remaster and don't listen to these retards trying to cook up a storm within a drop of water.
Don't you dare play the game that community has deemed bad! Only play the community approved good game Dark Souls 1, then begrudgingly play Dark Souls 3 (you're not allowed to like it though) and, for the love of god DO NOT play Dark Souls 2, delete it immediately and never speak of it again, we don't like it here.
Wrong. Dark Souls 2 is the best game, fucking kys.
OP, leave this thread right now.
Dark souls 1 is the best in the series by quite some margin. Dark souls 2 is the worst
git gud
Despair but also despair
>DUDE IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT THEY ADDED ANAKIN TO RETURN OF THE JEDI, MADE GREEDO SHOOT FIRST, ADDED TERRIBLE CGI CREATURES EVERYWHERE, ETC
Fuck off and kill yourself
only good thing ADP made is force non-magic oriented builds to spend more levels to be viable like magic ones as both ADP and ATN give agility(i.frames)
ADP forces you to reach at least 30 points before you get back the i-frames and speed you naturally had in Dark Souls 1 It also speeds up recovery animations to the point where the SL 799 Havel wizards Soul Memory will pit you against heal so quickly that they can't be punished.
ADP is the melee equivalent of magic ATN.
ADP is not mandatory.
Every attack can be dodged with base iframes except chariots charge.
The iframes in Dark Souls 2 are an utter mess that don't match up to the visuals at all, hence the infamous series of Webms detailing these faults. ADP is almost mandatory if you want what happens on the screen to make sense at all. That also still doesn't change the fact that DaS 2 characters start off worse than DaS 1 characters in that regard and need to invest in an extra stat to break even. Even mages have to invest in ADP after a while due to the soft caps on stats.
>DS1 -Fun place to start, quite a good game
>DS2 - not as good as 1 in every way, but far from even being a bad game, the meme of it being some sort of shit stain on the franchise and the entire vidya industry is so fucking overdone I can hardly stand soulsfags anymore.
>DS3 I don't understand the hating on this one meme either. Easily my favorite entry of the series, and honestly my go-to over bloodborne even. Ashes of Ariandel DLC is fucking perfection and that's not even to say the base game isn't objectively good too. I've had tons of fun making different builds and doing multiple playthroughs per character; it's just harder to be a magic user because it's nerfed to shit.
the non DS trilogy games
>Demons desu had a tough time getting into it way back when, learned to appreciate it but honestly don't find it a must-play, just if you end up being a hardcore fan and want to play them all now. Not to say it's even bad, because it's not. Just surpassed.
>BB: Incredible, not sure if it was playing on PS4 this time over PC like the others but this game gave me the most challenge, def can't be as turtley in this, but it's a beautiful game and why I even gave snoy some of my money.
>Sekiro if we're allowing it in this thread; feels like you're forced to play a dexfag but the ability to keep up pressure means you've got to rush through combat and be amazing at counters, not exactly me in every souls game but I got used to it. The level design and enemy placements make for a solid experience, and the bosses? gottdamn.

-t. guy that likes these games
Try playing Demon's Souls as well. It's faster than Dark Souls 1 and most of the weapons, miracles, and spells are more valuable. Some of them can even be ridiculously powerful in a fun way, even in PVP (which you'll have to use a fan server to access now). The level design is superb, though some of the boss encounters focus more on being unique from each other than being hard battles.
