nothing is good in 2019

play it with darthmod

yeah it's fun as fuck. better than rome 2 imo. and it's cheap as hell.

Better than Rome 2 like some user said

Imperator?

the soundtrack is amazing like all the pre-Rome 2 games

I found the campaign dull after a while, but it's still good.

I prefer the combat aspect over the management one, should I still give it a go? From what I see it looks pretty economy/politics heavy.

TRIARII
yes

play rome total realism if you have anything more than a passing familiarity with the classical period
The way creative assembly portrayed it in the game is full retard and has nothing at all to do with history.
There is 0 politics and managing the economy is as simple as knowing what you need to spend money on improving first. Total War is all about battles.

Still the King of Total War games. How did CA fucked up so much?

>in 2019?

Games don't age you dumb fuck.

EEEEEQQQQUIIITEEESSSSS

What are the Total War games like? I hear they're turn-based but also real-time. How does that even work?

>the soundtrack is amazing
who /romantic battle/ here? youtu.be/BLDviRIvE5Q
>tfw 0:59 starts playing when the battle starts going in
your favor

Imagine if CA tried as hard for Rome 2 (or any recent titles) as they did for Rome 1.

>turn based
cities and armies management
>real-time
battles

Hoplites suck at taking cities, but the game will have the cities army outside the city for a land battle, at least on hard

Turn based economy management, recruitment and army movement, real time battles. It's not raccoon science.

You move your kaiju size generals around the world, when they encounter another kaiju or a city they vomit an army and the map changes, also your general become much more smaller(for balancing i guess).

There's no politics, literally just war or peace with different factions.

Economy is super simple too, you spend your gold on one of three things:

1. More units
2. Buildings that give you better units
3. Buildings that give you more money

Combat is far and away the most important thing in TW games.
All of the other grand strategy-esque stuff is just window dressing.

I bloody love this pic.

It's good but it ain't Medieval 2

just watch a fucking youtube gameplay video you fucking genius.

I hate you fucking faggots who have to fetishize everything. Fucking kill yourself you mouth-breathing neckbeards.

It's a meme. Almost as big a meme as Med2. Nostalgiafags will claim they held up; they didn't. They were decent in their heyday. Or in Med2's case, fucking unplayable without mods, which coincidentally is what 99% of people still praising the game actually mean when they talk about the game.

You’re entirely entitled to you own opinion, even it if is entirely wrong

>Medieval 2
>Unplayable without mods
You are a fucking moron

How's Three Kingdoms looking? I kinda lost interest in these games after basedhammer

THE GODS BE PRAISED! The enemy's hearts are full of fear and now they flee! Pursue them, and drive them from the battlefield!

>those laser guided javelins

am i the only one that dislikes the modern games? since you are forced to have generals almost all battles are auto resolve since you or they stand no chance whatsoever and also the only thing that prevents you from just doomstacking everything to death is the fact you end up having rebellions all the time because of the order penalty and the fact you can't send individual troops

No. Europa Barbarorum or Roma Surectum.

1. go to Total War Center forums
2. download Europa Barbarorum 1.2
3. download the Roma Surrectum battle map environments for this mod
4. download the fix that lets you run it through either the Barbarian Invasion or Alexander exes (more features and better AI)

The best experience you can have with this game, hands-down

is fall of the samurai decent? or should I buy rome 2?
>modern total war games
i know

>med2
>unplayable
It was buggy and cumbersome and mods like SS drastically improved it, but it was hardly 'unplayable'

THE ENEMY FLEES LIKE FRIGHTENED GOATS. HUNT THEM DOWN, GOATS MAKE GOOD EATING

Cringe and objectively-wrong-opinion-pilled
The gameplay loop of the older games are superior to the newer ones due to how little bs there is getting in between battles

This is no longer a battle, this is a hunt. No.... a coward chase

The army of hastati and principes i use in the early game to conquer shit before i take Rome itself i leave garrsioned in Rome as a gold-chevroned honor guard when the marian reforms come around

>the Seleucids have far and away the best, most flexible army in the game
>their campaign starts with them about to be gangraped by six different factions
>their economy/happiness sucks later on because their temples are shit
Always pissed me off how weak the Seleucids and Carthage were in the vanilla game. They're supposed to be powerhouses but by the time they can start to tap into their potential they're getting fucked sideways by literally everyone.

For the Seleukids that's pretty historically accurate though. And if you hate the vanilla 'kids don't attempt the nightmare that is their campaign in EB

installing EB right now. easiest faction for a EB noob?

Fall of the Samurai is one of the best TWs, especially if you like guns.
Rome 2 is better than it was at launch but still pretty mediocre.
