That's not to say the job isn't fun, though, it's a decent little treasure-hunt while it lasts and shitting on midbosses with instant-death skills is cool. The Masked Carnivale is also an excellent source of tomestones of poetics from all the first-time completion rewards if you happen to be doing HW relics or similar.

Pretty good MMO that uses WoW's ~TBC formula as a base and accurately captures Final Fantasy jobs "if they were a WoW class". Best MMO story on the market by far and only really beaten by XI. Infuriating earlygame, ARR in general is pretty poorly designed since they were figuring out how the hell to do things; they hit their stride hard with Heavensward.

It has to be a zenos with 3 swords since his whole gimmick in Dissidia is about changing the swords and they have glows which indicate which sword you're currently using so you immediately know what attacks you have.

Bluemage was easy to implement and stave off the hunger for new content without really doing anything.

Leveling time for your main job will be as you go along in the main-story, which is a slow but steady leveling method that'll probably take you a couple of weeks assuming you power through the story or don't get bored and start power-leveling through other methods. Leveling off-jobs is far less laborious because of EXP increases and better leveling methods such as Palace of the Dead, and raising it to cap will take you about three or four days of on-and-off play with daily roulettes factored in.

FFXIV is PvE focused. PvP is an afterthought in this game and restricted to certain modes.

The official track name is The Merry Wanderer Waltz, and I don't think it has an orchestrion roll.

Part of the game's draw is glamour and RP if the big servers are anything to go by. The skill floor is low even by MMO standards that you need to wonder what most of this community actually does outside of faceroll content.

Lucky bancho doesn't count new players, only players that have hundreds of hours invested into the game already. You can run your own census with the GitHub tools and define your own criteria and see there is indeed consistent growth.

There's no point in trying to play what you like early in an expansion.

It's transmog and housing focused, that's what 90% of players do. The rest do Pve and only a small fraction does pvp. Leveling takes time only because it takes ages to get through the story but you can level other jobs quite fast otherwise.

So the census doesn't count people on unlimited trial or below 35. It's inaccurate measure of growth. There's tons of players on Exodus below level 35 since they're sprouts but the census doesn't count them. Go run your own census with the GitHub Java parser with your own criteria and you can see growth in real time rather than waiting for some monthly inaccurate census.

If you have a higher number of players filtering in an out of the game, I wouldn't consider that growth necessarily, especially since the number of max level characters has not been growing.

Because that's what the playerbase wants: transmogs, housing and (e)rp. The clear rates for hardest (savage) raids are like 10% in Japan, 5% in NA and even less in EU.
The biggest shitshows over the past 6 months have been no male bunny race and the lack of housing to buy. People will whine about shit class design when it comes to certain jobs, but slutmogging and decorating houses is the bread and butter of this game.
Granted, the raid design is good, it's just that SE makes dozens of millions on race change potions alone that they focus more on mogs than on creating more raids.

Jobs are fun but it can take some hopping around to decide what you really like. Across all the roles your choice of job is basically which playstyle you want; Black Mage is focused on being a stationary turret and has to move well to accommodate that, Summoner is high AoE damage with support skills, Red Mage is focused on instantly slinging out a second spell after the first one and can heal and resurrect. Dragoon is oGCD jumps, Ninja is enmity-management and backstab support, Samurai is HUGE DICK DAMAGE, Monk is sustained DPS compared to everyone else having bursts. Bard is support, Machinist is straight damage. White Mage is a simple healer, Scholar ideally wants damage to never happen in the first place, Astrologian can play Yugioh to give the party buffs. Paladin has the best defensive utility among tanks, Dark Knight is the best at tanking magical damage and has excellent AoE capability, Warrior is the best at pretending to be a DPS through burst-damage.

On my server I have a queue to get in, but there is a trick to get past it, just hit cancel then login and it works.

There's people to do stuff but the fact that the population has been literally halved doesn't help

Well I do use Excel spreadsheets at work on a daily basis so it might be accurate, just it's not an office job. But leveling the professions and getting geared up just became a thing I felt like doing and now it's kind of relaxing to craft while waiting for a queue as DPS and watching a movie on my second monitor.

You need friends to make your queues go faster, you need friends to not kill yourself doing any sort of relic grind, you need friends to raid because pugging savage is nearly impossible unless you're extremely lucky, you need friends to be social otherwise it feels like a silent singleplayer game, you need friends to not make the game a boring/tedious as fuck slog.

As somebody who hasn't played since August of 2018, but has done nothing but Tanking through the MSQ dungeons, you should pull every enemy in an area at once, your healer should have you covered.
If the area has less than 3 monsters you should run ahead and pull a few more, but never more than 5.

It's because you're using last gen Ryzen which is on par with stock Intel Sandy Bridge on per core speed. Ryzen is for multi core rendering not for high hz gaming

ARR relic, no question. Many of the steps in the ARR relic require way more time commitment/money/grinding, and it's a very specific type of grind that you have to do.

With many of the HW steps, you can at least complete them while doing other things anyway, like your dailies.

I got my Yoichi Bow Zeta and then never bothered with it again. I would rather do 3 HW relics than 1 ARR relic.

Yes, well, not like there's a lot of people covering ffxiv, they don't exactly got a huge selection.

Because XIV's Havok physics are CPU heavy, and the engine in general recreates all player meshes per frame (head, body, legs, parts, accessories, etc) for some fucking reason (instead of caching the combined mesh), which drives the drawcall count up a fuckload per-player.

Books are really annoying in ARR step. I hate it. I prefer HW relic steps because you can choose what to do rather than the game telling you what to do.

Intel i5 or i7 K series. I'm personally using a i7 4790k+GTX 1060 and I never drop below 60FPS in this game unless I'm doing a S rank hunt where there's 100 people on screen spamming battle moves.

I don't know, but it's hilarious because even 1.0 didn't do that.
1.0 actually runs better on a modern machine than ARR does.

I completed it with little problems. You probably got unlucky and didn't land a slow from Ice Spikes. Don't forget you can use Addle and Break from your Role abilities too. Helps also to save a spell set that ONLY has rank 1 or 2 abilities so you don't hit something by mistake.

If you're gaming then Intel is generally better but you'll have to pay more. If you're doing workstation stuff then Ryzen is generally better and cheaper.

Isn't 1.0 single thread based? So if you got 100 people on screen then the game dips FPS harder than XIV today? I'm sure it's fine for dungeon/trial instances but horrible for places like Eureka/Diadem.

It doesn't suck, but when you can clear consistently DPS starts beating regens and over heals. Same reason why RDM runs out of usefulness compared to SMN or BLM. No one needs phat heals when no one is dying.
