I think those achievements are useful, you can look up how many people actually start playing your game or finish it.

Go back.

>Do nothing
>Get an achievement
It's an ironic reflection of our shitty society.

>much society

Never thought about it like that before, I mean getting an achievement for just beating a level is pretty gay but it's a pretty definitive way to check someone's progress. Like with friends, I know which games they've beaten or how far they are so I know who to talk to what about without spoiling anything.

>Never thought about it like that before

it's the entire fucking point

No, kill yourself scum.

I always liked trophies for every chapter because it showed you the rate at which people stopped playing.

Pic related is a graph of what % of people have the trophy for each half-chapter in The Witch and the Hundred Knight on PS3.

user, we all know you have brain damage. Do you really have to waste the time telling everyone over and over?

Any idea what turned so many people off that early?

I never understood this. How is that possible?

I'm wondering if GameJournos should have all their achievements public so that when devs see them talking shit they just ignore them when they know if they're plebs or not.

happened to a dev who reviewed a game saying it wasn’t good and dev called him out saying he played on easy

It's a pretty rough game mechanically and quite different to what it's main audience might be used to. It was a new IP by NIS at the time so I imagine a reasonable portion of the audience came from Disgaea. So going from a tactical turn based RPG to a Diablo-esque hack and slash might have been jarring, plus it was just jank as fuck.

Also there was a scene early on that was a bit much for some people, and actually upset a few journalists. At the end of Chapter 1, Metallia (who is effectively the main story character) turns her own mother into a mouse, and then has her raped by male mice.

When it comes to games like steam, they usually only added achievements “recently” so the shit gets skewed. Also sometimes offline play doesn’t give achievements either

Nothing in particular. All games have a curve like that. The majority of players don't play beyond the introduction, and the vast majority never see the ending. It's sparked a discussion among game writers as to whether constructing a good ending even matters anymore when 90% of players don't see it. And this isn't even a new phenomenon either. Deus Ex is considered a classic and I'd say it's my favorite game of all time, but I'll be the first to concede the ending sucks.

i bought it, did the intro and just havent bothered picking it back up.
its on the evergrowing "man i gotta play that" list

Neat! Who and when, do you know?

When Rome 2 came out the game gave you achievments for how long you played. Some didn't even have the 30 minute one yet gave the game 9/10.

>plating new Puyo on PS4
>win about half my matches online, I'm a shitter I know I'm working on it
>trophies seemingly ALWAYS unlock on the results screen of matches that I lose
>PS4 saves the trophy screenshot as a big YOU LOSE screenshot
>almost every one I've unlocked so far is like that if I look at the list
>they seemingly never unlock on the 50% of the time I win

pisses me off desu, its embarassing. why are the trophies not for like winning matches so this shit doesnt happen.

The jank is what got me. I loved the story, but there came a time where I was doing almost no damage. It was an insane spike of difficulty. I made sure my shit was upgraded and was using the combo system to maximize everything but I just suddenly started doing single digit damage. I didn't feel like figuring it out and/or grinding a shit ton to fix it, so I gave up.

in the steam version of Path of Exile, 87% of players beat the first boss, and only ~60% beat the first act

I couldn’t remember and I tried looking it up online but I couldn’t find the exact detail.

This reminds me of assassins creed

Beat the game- 58%
Press y after beating the game- 54%

unironically persona 5
