After the gacha started it completely killed Type-Moon and attracted a new audience who only want paper-thing Servants to fap to, with the lowest possible production values.

I dig most of the background lore settings, some nice characters, I really liked EXTRA and CCC, can't say the same about Stay Night and Zero.
Grand Order is still top jewery, but some story parts are bearable if not nice.

HA is the best VN in the series. Strange Fake is the best non-anime and non-VN work, Emiya cooking was the best anime in the series, followed by Carnival Phantasm.

By far. Apocrypha isn't good, but it doesn't get main characters wrong like Saber. Apocrypha at least has a unique premise with two "teams" of servants.
Granted, you can argue Strange Fake does the same, but the characters are more interesting, have better connections and relationships and instead of one war, its two wars.

I read the Fate Zero LN and it was very good. The anime adaptation was also quite nice. Then read FSN and it was ok. The rest of the franchise looks pretty fucking bad so I never bothered, but I could be wrong.

There are only four good things in the Fate series: the VN, HA, the cooking show, and Carnival Phantasm. Everything else is complete trash, though I haven't played CCC yet. Also, Saber Alter has been my wife for the last 8 years, even if she isn't best girl in her own game.

FGO has ruined whatever value Fate still had. Mythical heroes are interesting when you have maybe a dozen per entry at most; FSN and Extra had characters with actual impact. A gacha game that releases new ones every month kills that impact to the point that Hercules backed up by Merlin seems trivial.
Also the non-Fate games are better
