nothing that happens in any yakuza game actually matters much. there are constant twists that make what happened an hour ago no longer matter, it's just melodrama nonsense. most fans know the writing isn't great, you play for the gameplay, which is mostly just beating up the same two enemies again and again.
at least there are minigames. none of them are very good but they are varied and distract from the mediocre fight system and plot.

Reminder that with Steam release time it's like.
1 hour = at most 1:59 and under an hour says less than an hour.

Kiwami 1 was a cashgrab rehash of 0, there was very little effort put into it and it copied so much of 0 it was a drag to play it even a year after 0. Kiwami 2 actually has some real effort put into it, likely because Yakuza 2 is one of the most popular in the series so fucking it up would piss everyone off.

Kiwami stays true to original, so they keeped shitty gameplay, but made it extremly shit

Yakuza 1 is an old ass gawky ass unrefined ass game, also the first one in the series. Now imagine that but also stripped of all the soul and hastily repackaged so that all the Zero players have something to look forward to so that they too can get into the series.
Of course it sucks, but who gives a fuck when literally all the other mainline games are better.

The story is the most ludicrous and bizarre plot ever.
It gets to a point where it's "so bad, it's good" in some ways. The game's pacing also isn't the greatest, with the beginning hours of the game going fairly slowly, though it's justified given the context and is personally one of my favorite parts of the game since it's supposed to be mundane, which reminded me a bit of Shenmue when I first played it.
Also enemies block. A lot. And I mean a lot. Gameplay-wise it doesn't bug me as much as the constant stun-locking in Kiwami 1, but it is still annoying.
Also the Western release had a bunch of side content cut from the game due to time constraints, the only game in the series where this is a major problem.

Yakuza 4 meanwhile is much better story-wise, has a better cast of characters, lets you play as 4 different characters, and fixes a lot of the problems from Yakuza 3's gameplay.

Get yourself one of these setups but with a micro PC.

What would they even fix? It's not a Kiwami, it's just a simple remaster. They wouldn't go out of their way to remake it just for the PC crowd, it would have been done for everyone. The remaster itself still has enemies blocking a decent amount but that's the only real downside outside of a bit of stiffness. It's really not that bad and takes like five minutes at most to readjust to it.

It was an ingenious plan but still no match for the power of the catalog.

Other than the enemy A.I, the stuff wrong with Yakuza 3 can't really be changed unless you get down and dirty to restructure things.
Though, at the very least, if the remaster comes west we'll get all of the side content that we missed out on the first time.

Charge attacks will let you avoid getting bounced. Just let them leap and then you can get like three or four charge attacks off before you have to worry at all. You can also spam regular attacks but they'll bounce you back a bit so you have to keep reorienting.

I need to warn you that mahjong in yakuza 6 and kiwami 2 is super easy. I learned it so fast i actually beaten battle royale's of both lullaby mahjong and modern mahjong.

They also have hard table only at "modern" one, but its actually rigged for easier hand for all players including ai.

Kiwami 1 is significantly shorter than Zero. I got through it in 20 hours, but I didn't do a lot of the side content.

Not everything CPU bound is a bad port, there is a reason why the Dragon Engine struggles on the PS4 as well.

I spent 62 hours on 0. I spent 20 hours or so specifically for the real estate/cabaret club mini-games and I still didn't complete them by the time I was at the final mission of the game.
If there aren't any major side games like in 0, I'll probably finish the game a lot faster. I like the substories and all, so I do them when I see them, but I don't autistically chase them.

Kiryu's fine and his deadpan sense of humor with him getting into ridiculous situations is always enjoyable. Gameplay in fights is great, you can juggle, you can stun, you can insta-kill mooks (Up until they're like level 80ish), you have a variety of Secret Techniques, and boss fights are actually difficult in the Colosseum. The problem is that the substories are pretty lame and not funny though they feel like stuff Kenshiro would say in-character, the story is incredibly rushed and pushes aside staple characters like Rei and Mamiya for absolutely no reason, the buggy handles like garbage even with endgame car parts and max cornering (Or whatever it was called), almost all the minigames are just from 0/K1 or tweaks of something from there so there's almost nothing new, and it gets to be very grindy and repetitive very quickly.

I personally say it's not worth it if you're a FotNS fan, it's okay if you're a Yakuza fan, just don't pay more than $20-30 at most.

Anyone else having a problem with the mouse cursor being stuck in the middle of the screen and flashing while using a controller?

Might be a thing with the drivers. Sometimes if my DS4's battery dies and I switch to the other, or if I plug it in via cable after it'll go to Xbox prompts sometimes. It will also do it when I alt tab sometimes, but not always. And the only way to fix it that I knew was to restart the game or hope it would automatically fix by reconnecting the controller.

Probably cutscene audio. Not sure if RGG Studio does it this way, but games often have all of the audio for cutscenes mixed into one file so you can't individually adjust the options in-game. MGR is a good example of this because they actually released said cutscene audio on the OST.
